Suddenly, Pari smiles:
"Thumb forward!"

Natsume grins. ”You’ve got it! Now, keep that sword at the ready. I smelled some excellent Daikitsushi last time I was here and never got the chance to taste it before I woke up, but you’ll have to show me you’ve mastered the first stance I taught you before either of us can taste it, okay?”

She smiles warmly, and leads away to Nirvana, where the rice fields are shaded by the bamboo and her fellow foxes bound and play.

Pari, while training on how to hold the sword, looks up:
"Will my brother be there?"

Natsume considers. ”It depends on who he worshipped, I think,” she says, ”but we will look.”

"Well, I worship you, and I am sure he will too!"

Natsume raises a paw to her mouth and giggles; it’s flattering... and a little embarrassing.

”Hey, now... I’m just your teacher! Though I suppose I could always come back as a kami...”

She shakes the thought from her head. ”Tomorrow I think we will spar—and after that, we will go fishing.”

”But once today’s lesson is over, we shall rest until morning. It has been... a difficult day.”

Natsume is at peace.

Pari is at peace too.

As the gate of Hell opens, Tamerius enters, leading is new flock.

Welcome to your new home! he says with a high pitch voice.

The lemures look at him, expressionless.

The imp smiles and lead them to an eternity of damnation...

King in Thorns slideshow!

Tamerius looks around, but sees no Dwarves arriving from Plaguestone.
Maybe they were sturdier, or else because their farm was out of town-- the new Priest of Asmodeus seems to not have died with the Plague.
The new church will go on...

Sitril hides the ring and looks at Giggett

"Pathfinder? That is not for me. I need to take Bort and Dragh bodies to their clans. If I get lucky I sign up as a caravan escort in Goldenoak brewery."

He stands up looking at Nat's body holding a kid.

"Farewell Giggett, stay safe. Maybe we will meet again, hopefully in more cheerful times."

Giggett follows Sitril's look:

"Sorry, the moment is tough, I forget important things. I don't care of all these people, but even if Tam' was a pain, I want to burry him and Natsume, and not in a common hole. Will you help me?"

"Yes, but I think we should burn Nat. I am not a medic, but some plagues do not die with one's body. I don't know what were her take on that." suggest the dwarf.

"Regardless I think Tamli had a shovel somewhere on a cart. "

"I don't think it's a plague. Diseases take more time to kill you and spread to other people. This one seems to be near instantaneous and I'm not sure it spreads. Let me try to guess what it could be."

Giggett starts analyzing what she has to determine what type of affliction this is.

Medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

It is a gas, made by crushing the green rocks and transforming them.

Does Giggett think it could be some disease that could spread ?

King in Thorns slideshow!

No, it should not.

"Sitril, I don't think it's a disease. Let's bury them, let's make a small ceremony for both of them and then get on our own ways."

I continue as Farol doesn't seem interested in burrying our fallen comrades :P

Giggett asks Sitril for help to carry Natsume's corpse. She goes to a flower field and there, they dig a hole. They burry her and the gnome makes sure that flowers will grow over the tomb.

"I'm no religious authority, so I won't make any kind of prayer. I'm sure Nat' will love having a tombstone made of flowers, I hope they'll grow quickly and bloom beautifully. And I don't feel writing anything on stone or wood. It's just a tomb for us, the few survivors."

Turning to the tomb:

"Rest in peace, Natsume, holy champion of Daikitsu."

Turning back to Sitril:

"I realize I don't remember her last name..."

I'm the only one still caring in here, but I don't care... no, I do care, well, nevermind.

After Natsume's funerals, Giggett gets to the temple to see the dwarves.

"Hello to both of you. I come to see you as I have a special request. I know, in current situation, that you have a lot on your plate. But Tamerius Archilius of House Dulifer has perished from Vilree's hand and I want him to have decent funerals. I know he taught you everything he could about his faith. Would you mind helping me so he could have a proper ceremony?"

And our DM doesn't answer to Giggett :'(

King in Thorns slideshow!

The DM was buried in a field in the countryside.

Sitril says: "Ren, her name is Ren."

As for the Dwarves, they are busy carving a life-size statue of Tamerius-- as they remember him, tall and beautiful, raising one hand to the heavens and the other to the ground.
"We were planning to bury him inside the church. In front of the altar. He saved Etran's Folly all by himself. He must be remembered."

"Saved? Or doomed..."

Giggett thinks for a moment and realizes that, definitely, she doesn't want Asmodeus to have a strong presence here.

"Have you understood what happened?"

She waits for a second.

"Look around, what do you think happened? The town's been wiped, do you think it's a coincidence?"

Giggett's voice takes a darker tone:

"This is over, Asmodeus has doomed Etran's Folly! He deemed it unfit for His Majesty. After the victory of his Holy Champion, Blessed Be His Name, he took Him back to Him and wiped the city. Asmodeus is angry. The citizens have failed Him. And you!"

Giggett shows both dwarves with her finger.

"You are there to fulfill His last will: Burry his Champion the way He should be. That's the only reason you survived. And after that, the choice is yours between exile or definitely forgeting about his Holy Highness, Asmodeus the Good, the Great and the Beautiful!"

Giggett's voice goes louder.

"Because Asmodeus the Precious, God of Kindness, Good Humor, Respect and Ice Creams is an Unforgiving One. Mistakes Shall Be Made Only Once!, as the Holy Book of Flowers and Fruit Baskets says. Your only choice is either exile or forget about Him. And I'd be you, I'll forget about Him, as you don't ever want to face His Holy and Delicate Wrath ever again. Unless you want to spend eternal life being slapped by beautiful flowers. Do you?"

Ready to make whatever relevant check.

King in Thorns slideshow!

The Dwarves smile at Giggett:
"Of course the town was wiped out. The people did not follow Asmodeus as well as they should. So, yes, the place was cleaned up so we can rebuild from scratch, following the edicts of Tamerius the great!"

Giggett clenches her teeth. The dwarves are stupid, which doesn't mean easy to manipulate.

"Sitril and I are going to get Tamerius' body here, it should take us a day or two. Start preparing everything for his funerals. We all count on you."

Then, once she gets alone with Sitril:

"I really don't like Asmodeus' faith, but I have an idea. We need to be quick."

As Farol seems to be absent, I'll consider Sitril follows Giggett.

Giggett then gets to Natsume's stuff, which inadvertently ended very close to Giggett's stuff and digs in for a book about Daikitsu. She then starts a correctional work, replacing everywhere she finds the name Daikitsu by the name Asmodeus, hoping it'll do the trick.

Society: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Giggett looks at her work and is quite happy with what she did considering the lack of time to do it. The idea of using black paint and writing Asmodeus in stylized red letters over it is a pretty good one, noone will ever remove the paint to see what was under.

She then retrieves Tamerius' body with Sitril and brings it back to town... after having switched all books and notes about Asmodeus with the properly modified book about Daikitsu.

"Here is the body of the prophet. And here is his gear. Maybe you want to keep it and use it for yourself? There is even a holy book about Asmodeus in there, I'm pretty sure you are the one entitled to get it and use it to spread the Faith!"

King in Thorns slideshow!

I imagine Giggett has the proper writing material to create a forgery, or can obtain it (writing set at least).
Create forgery is a Secret roll-- thus the GM must roll, and, sadly (for it is a great idea!), did not have Giggett reach the needed 20.

Giggett's lack of time, or not knowing Tian, or whatever it is, has the forgery not coming out as she wished it would.
Well, after all, the idea was exciting, but then it is rather boring to actually change all these words in a big book-- and boring is not what she is after.

So, be it the canny eye of the Dwarven farmer used to checking his sales bills, or the fact that some racial trait linked to digging has the new Asmodeans wanting to go check what is beneath and below-- the forgery ends up being spotted by one of the farmer's sons!

What happens next is for another story-- but they now think Giggett is some enemy sent to persecute the gentle and good Asmodeus!
