GM Wayfinder
Sitril does not manage to hurt Vilree-- who remains ready to keep on fighting.
Round 18
Gigget - 14 damage
Natsume - 4 damage - reaction ready - shield up
Tamerius - @0 hp ; Dying 3 ; Prone
Round 19
Vilree - 104 damage - Enfeebled 2 this round
Sitril @25 hp ; Wounded 1 (Healing potion @ old spot ; axe dropped)
Giggett
Delay after Natsume, the decision may be clearer if our holy champion dispatches the witch!
"Surrender if you look for mercy, Vilree."
Natsume Ren
"Then you'll get none from us, either," says Natsume, whipping her flail around Vilree's ankle and yanking.
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Assuming that worked...
The spiked bottom lip of her shield comes down next:
Shield Spikes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
And then her flail again!
Flail Attack: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5
She probably doesn't hit either time, despite Vilree probably being on her back.
GM Wayfinder
Vilree skips away and up, avoiding the flail catching her ankle--
not Tripped
--and then Natsume is caught a bit unawares, and misses with her attacks.
Round 18
Gigget - 14 damage
Tamerius - @0 hp ; Dying 3 ; Prone
Round 19
Vilree - 104 damage - Enfeebled 2 this round
Sitril @25 hp ; Wounded 1 (Healing potion @ old spot ; axe dropped
Natsume - 4 damage - reaction ready
Giggett
Giggett thinks for a second, then considers that Tamerius chose for her.
She calls for the power of her blood to summon lightnings on Vilree.
Electric Arc: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9 lightning damage, basic Reflex DC 19.
She then moves to the potion Sitril dropped (I don't remember which square it was... Correct me if I'm wrong).
GM Wayfinder
Vilree is--
1d20 ⇒ 5
--unable to avoid the lightning.
9 damage
re. the healing potion: Sitril can say which square it is, but seems close enough for me, or at least to pick it up from an adjacent square at worse?
Round 18
Tamerius - @0 hp ; Dying 3 ; Prone ; can you SPOILER your Recovery Check, please?
Round 19
Vilree - 113 damage - Enfeebled 2 this round
Sitril @25 hp ; Wounded 1 (Healing potion @ old spot ; axe dropped
Natsume - 4 damage - reaction ready
Gigget - 14 damage
GM Wayfinder
Vilree reloads her crossbow and shoots a fiery bolt at Sitril--
1d20 ⇒ 19
--and hits Sitril in his wounded nose!
2d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 5) + (1) = 12
Crit'! For 26-5 from Natsume = 21
Natsume reacts and maybe saves Sitril's life by pouring guilt over Vilree!
The Dwarf thus remains standing.
Vilree rips out a flask and tosses it at him--
1d20 ⇒ 19
--and the Dwarf has acid blast over him, burning him a little but digging deep into his skin.
1 damage + 2d6 persistent acid damage
Acid splashes over Vilree and Sitril.
2 splash damage
Round 19
Sitril @1 hp ; Wounded 1 (axe dropped) ; 2d6 persistent acid damage
Natsume - 4 damage
Gigget - 14 damage
Tamerius - @0 hp ; Prone
Round 20
Vilree - 115 damage
GM Wayfinder
There you stand, locked in battle.
At least Sitril still stands, feeling lucky to not be passed out cold on the wet cave-floor, beside Tamerius, who-- is either at death's gate, or has moved off into the Boneyard.
And acid burns away at the Dwarf.
Will he try to not pass out from the pain?
Or will he try and take Vilree out?
Vilree who even damages herself yet remains standing.
And what will Giggett do?
Recover the potion to maybe save Tamerius?
Or Sitril?
Or all-out attack Vilree?
As for Natsume-- will Daikitsu help her flail hit the Evil Alchemist hard? And end this battle...
Sitril Anvilbrand
Sitril swings his hammer 3 times
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage : 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 4 = 15
Damage : 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 8 = 15
Damage : 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Acid: 1d20 ⇒ 5
And falls down to the ground, fallen in battle
acid : 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
GM Wayfinder
Sitril's hammer cracks Vilree on the skull--
7 damage
--and the half-elven alchemist topples to the ground, her eyes closing.
@122 damage she goes down!
The Dwarf, his nose smashed, acid that he feels burning into his skin--
has 2 actions left (you have to take those 2 actions before others act, since you took your turn-- but you can Ready an action)
Round 19
Sitril @1 hp ; Wounded 1 (axe dropped) ; 2d6 persistent acid damage
2 actions left - will take 6 damage
Natsume - 4 damage
Gigget - 14 damage
Tamerius - @0 hp ; Prone
Round 20
Vilree - out cold - 122 damage
Sitril Anvilbrand
Sitril looks around for something to wash off or remove the acid. Natsume tail? Nah. Maybe Vilrees blood? Does it spills all around? Is there another water source in this room besides river?
GM Wayfinder
Sitril sees a bubbling cauldron?
But what acid that might wash off, it would add other things to the mix that do not seem too fun.
The only water is the river, and with the current, and nice cold underwater ice-floe, it would wash the acid right off!
But maybe wash Sitril away too.
Sitril Anvilbrand
Sitril looks at the fallen body of Vilree... Shouldn't he be happy? He avenged Bort, he tied all loose ends, not one monster, alchemist survived this slaughter...
Sitril looks at his hands, covered in blood. Wondering who the real monster is here? But no his cause was just! His kin was slaughtered!
And again he looks at the twisted body of Vilree, thinking about her mom, and her end.
He does not feel happy of what they did, it does not even feel right.
He feels the acid burning on his body which snaps him back to reality. He looks around the room and sees Giggett holding his potion of healing.
He takes a step towards her, then another, and another...
Giggett
Sitril falls just in front of Giggett... She prays he's not already dead to the acid while grabing the potion at her feet. But the dwarf's tough and he quickly regains counciousness when the liquid goes down his throat.
Potion of Healing: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 8) + 5 = 20 Giggett doesn't want Sitril to die!
Seeing that the dward should see another round, she moves toward Tamerius.
GM Wayfinder
As Sitril takes a step towards Giggett, the acid burns deep enough to hurt some inner organs--
6 damage
--and Sitril goes down--
0 hp ; dying 2
--but Giggett, who now feels tall as she looms high over prone Dwarf and Man, grabs the potion and feeds it to Sitril.
20 hp ; Wounded 2
Sitril's eyes open, as he lays on the floor, empty handed once again, hammer and axe lying close.
He sees Giggett looking down at him-- and then she is gone, nothing but the rocky ceiling up high.
Giggett moves over to Tamerius.
Sitril feels the acid still eating away at him.
Round 19
Natsume - 4 damage
Tamerius - @0 hp ; Prone
Round 20
Vilree - out cold - 122 damage
Sitril @20 hp ; Wounded 2 ; Empty handed (axe & hammer dropped) ; 2d6 persistent acid damage
Gigget - 14 damage
Giggett
Tamerius - @0 hp ; Prone
Tam' has been unbolded. Rest in peace, Tam'. You won't be forgotten. Can I take your holy symbol as a souvenir?
Natsume Ren
Natsume hustles over to the fallen priest's side, crouching down and dropping her flail beside her feet.
"What have we got for him?" she asks.
If Giggett or Sitril have something, I'll pick up Tamerius and bring him over. Should be a Stride, an Interact to hoist him, and then another Stride to carry him toward the others... though I think that'll lower my Speed a little. Still, it'll cut down on the movement they need to reach him... and it's decent roleplay :D
Giggett
I forgot to move my mini, I'm next to him.
"If you can grab me his healing kit, it may help me"
I don't know how the DM plays it, but as usual I'll heal Tam' using his own tools.
GM Wayfinder
Natsume moves up to Tamerius, drops her flail and pulls out the Cleric's healing kit, holding it up for Giggett.
Tamerius does not move, out cold.
Round 20
Giggett grabs the healing kit to help Tamerius out--
--but the Priest has left his body behind to go join the right side of Asmodeus in the fiery halls of Hell.
Tamerius is dead
Natsume recovers her flail.
The acid burns away at Sitril, and does not stop until a few seconds later, once the Dwarf has gotten back to his feet and retrieved his weapons.
2 rounds of persistent damage before it stops ; 17 damage
Sitril @3 HP
Gigget - 14 damage
Natsume - 4 damage
Tamerius - dead
Vilree - dead
1d20 ⇒ 12
2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
1d20 ⇒ 17
Giggett
After a minute trying to get Tamerius' heart back on track, Giggett sighs, a tear rolling on her cheek.
"So, that's it? Everything's over?"
She looks around, trying to find anything of interest to get her mind away from the situation.
Natsume Ren
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Natsume claps a hand on Giggett's shoulder and looks her in the eye.
"Do everything in your power to keep him alive, even the tiniest bit. Pump his chest, force air into him. Ten minutes. Got it?"
She sits on her heels, closing her eyes and clapping her hands together in prayer.
After ten minutes, she uses Lay on Hands on Tamerius... but to no avail.
"Dammit."
She lets herself exhale for what feels like the first time in fifteen minutes.
"I don't think it's over," she says. "Vilree mentioned sending something to the village. ...But we're in rough shape. We need to rest, heal, and run hard if we want to help."
Giggett
Giggett doesn't understand at all what Natsume is asking her, so she pumps his chest and does some mumbo jumbo so she can deal with the loss in her own way.
Deception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
"Let's rest a bit, loot this place and move on. If Vilree said right, our way back to Plaguestone may be harder than we thought."
Let's take some time to rest.
If the others are ok for a bit of rest, Giggett will now wear Tam's bandolier and try to heal the 2 others.
Medecine on Nat': 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Medecine on Sitril: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Medecine on her: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Yeah, I'm the new healer.
Healing on Nat': 2d8 ⇒ (8, 2) = 10
Healing on Sitril: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
Healing on her: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Natsume Ren
”Sounds good.”
She sits, and begins working out a prayer to Daikitsu.
It’s a more somber one than usual. It was likely no secret that she had conflicting opinions about Tamerius, but without him, she will be relying even more on Daikitsu’s protection.
Once she’s done, assuming everyone else hasn’t already done so, she’ll pick over the area to see what she can find, loot-wise.
Giggett
"Nat', we need your help for the healing part, especially Sitril."
Can we just consider we are all healed up after an hour or so?
GM Wayfinder
Giggett "works" on Tamerius, while Natsume prays and--
--fails to bring poor Tamerius back to life.
Yes, his soul has moved off to the Boneyard.
Then Giggett takes over the role of the healer, and gets Natsume healed up.
Then, while Natsume prays some more, Giggett heals Sitril, that Natsume heals also--
LoH is +12 HP, correct?
--before Giggett turns to healing herself, and Natsume praying yet again, applying her hands to Sitril once more.
Natsume then spends another half an hour, praying to Daikitsu, who answers each time, infusing her hands with power.
Sitril and Giggett are thus healed up to full life, also.
Finally, Natsume does another final prayer, being ready to heal if needed.
GM Wayfinder
During the nearly hour and a half this all takes, you can explore and check out the cavern beyond the bridge.
The homunculus and the behemoth are quite naked and have nothing.
Vilree, who is now quite dead too has on her clothes, with cool leather armor, boots, coat, bracers...
She has a belt pouch, with some 2 pp, 38 gp, 4 sp.
She has three daggers in her belt.
The strange alchemical crossbow, with runes on it.
She has some vials on her person, but you do not know what they might do.
There are only 4 left... she used many!
You count 18 empty vials-- many, indeed.
Around her neck, is a key.
GM Wayfinder
As for the room itself, you see the immense formations of cloudy, green rock.
The large black cauldron is bubbling away.
You see she was making some sort of mushroom soup.
Light filters into this chamber from above through a twisting crevasse in the ceiling.
Natsume Ren
Unless the level up put me at 18, yeah, LoH is 12. Not sure how exactly spells work but I think 12 is more right (maybe I get 18 at level 5??).
”Let’s go,” says Natsume, shield slung over her back and flail in its holster.
Unless we haven’t leveled yet, in which case, let’s have a lay-down and see if that soup’s any good ;D
GM Wayfinder
No levelling up until you spend some time resting, back at "home" in the caravan or whatever.
You would get your 2nd +1 for LoH @ lvl 5, yes (or so I think).
Where does Natsume "go" to--?
Giggett
Giggett looks at the key wondering if it could be the one to Vilree's room.
She also casts a Detect Magic spell to see if some of Vilree's stuff is magical.
"Let's move back to our 'camp' and take our stuff. We have to move to Plaguestone quickly."
Sitril Anvilbrand
Sitril looks at the body of Tamerius and is in a dire mood. Another one bites the dust. How many need to die before this is over.
"When you say camp, do you mean that whole in the ground in front of the gate?" asks Sitril
Yeah let us take potions, key, money and alchemical crossbow. Do we know what are those runes?
Giggett
"That's it, I mean our super secret hidden camp."
Giggett looks at the runes:
"For sure she hasn't cursed her crossbow. Nat', can you transfer these runes to Sitril's axe?"
Giggett
The crossbow radiate magic because of her runes or is it also a magical crossbow? I don't know if I can get such information from Detect Magic.
While Natsume heals Sitril, Giggett will take some time identifying the bracers.
Religion, Nature, Arcana or Occultism: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Level 2 item, so I don't think I get what it is.
GM Wayfinder
The mighty bracers are too powerful for Giggett to identify.
The crossbow has runes making it +1 Striking.
Giggett
Don't worry, Giggett feels special all by herself. She doesn't need items for that.
After everyone finished their thing, Giggett's ready to go.
GM Wayfinder
Tamerius lies on the floor, a bloody mess.
Happy to be cared about by his companions.
How easily we are forgotten when death renders us useless...
Go where?
Giggett
Giggett can hardly help carrying the dead man. She's not exactly the strongest one here.
Go into the hole, to get what we left here (did we? I don't remember properly). Then to Plaguestone, to see what's left here.
Natsume Ren
”We will need to come back for him,” says Natsume, looking down at Tamerius. If they are to help the living, the dead will need to wait.
She’ll transfer the time as soon as they get to camp and rest and level up!
Giggett
You want to spend a night at the camp? Because I think that's what implied by "resting and leveling up".
GM Wayfinder
Once again: no levelling up until you spend some time resting, back at "home" with the caravan.
