Sitril Anvilbrand
Sitril goes to the labs and uses his ax and hammer to build simple yet effective stretchers. Then he puts Tamerius's body on it.
"Ok, let us go back to Plaguestone. It is a shame that they lost their priest."
We can take turn with Tameriu's body, meaning 2 carries, 1 rest.
Giggett
And then you remember Giggett has 8 Strength and is size S...
"Let's go, then."
Giggett will move stealthily a bit upfront to scout as her two companions are moving Tamerius around.
GM Wayfinder
So, you make a stretcher, and leave the complex, heading off on a slow trek back to Plaguestone, trudging along slowly through the forest, bearing Tamerius' body.
Correct?
Natsume Ren
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Probably best if Natsume and Giggett don’t carry it at the same time, or poor Tam will slide right onto the gnome...
GM Wayfinder
So, it is a slow procession, and you imagine that if you were trying to chase some envoy of Vilree's, you will not be gaining on it at all...
It is hours of moving along, and quite tiring-- do you stop for breaks?
Giggett
After not long, Giggett stops the party.
"Guys, we won't make it. It's just way too slow to carry him with us at the same time we are trying to reach Plaguestone quite fast. So, either we stop caring about what could happen to Plaguestone or we let the body in our camp, for example, and come back later to deal with it."
GM Wayfinder
Sitril?
Do you agree with your two surviving companions?
You lay Tamerius to rest - in some protected place, I imagine - to rush off towards Plaguestone, and come recover the body later?
Sitril Anvilbrand
sure. I don't see why are we rushing for Plaguestone, to be honest, i would choose just to leave that place altogether. But let us rush there
GM Wayfinder
would choose just to leave that place altogether.
Then do not go there.
I am just trying to see what you want to do next?
Giggett
"Vilree said she already sent her minions to attack Plaguestone. I... Well, so much work, so many deaths, let's finish the job properly, or at least see what's happening there."
GM Wayfinder
After starting out slowed down by your respectful carrying of Tamerius, your fallen comrade, you carefully hide his body in order to speed up your trek back towards Plaguestone.
Off through the forests you go-- do you stop for breaks, or move on without pause?
Giggett
What do you mean? Do we hustle or do we just walk quickly? Because I don't think we will hustle but we won't lose time either.
GM Wayfinder
Do you stop for breaks, or move on without pause?
Meaning:
Do walk along without pause? Do you walk without ever stopping?
or
Do you take breaks? Do you stop now and then to rest for some minutes?
(it is way too far to try to Hustle)
Giggett
If we can get to Plaguestone without ending up fatigued, we don't stop. If we can end up fatigued, I think we will avoid it by taking the necessary breaks.
GM Wayfinder
Off through the forests you go--
--miles pass, minutes turn to hours, as the unsuspecting town grows ever closer.
You stop now and then to have a drink and catch your breath, not wanting to be fatigued.
Many thoughts go through your minds.
Maybe you should have been more careful, tending to those horses, you'd be at the village already by now if you were mounted!
Also, what awaits in Plaguestone?
You never checked out the Dwarf in the glass cylinder surrounded by green mist. What was that all about?
Green mist as green as the rocks you saw in the cave, and never looked at either.
Could an answer have been in Vilree’s own alchemical lab, down below, the one with the three vats and the glassed-in Dwarf?
Would things be different if you had looked at what work she was doing, checked the papers, books, and ledger that were there?
Who knows?
Too late to think about that now.
Back to walking you go.
What kind of minion did Vilree send to Plaguestone?
Some tiny flying creature?
A gigantic beast?
Some alchemical concoction?
A summoned elemental?
What will you find?
There is a grim possibility that the town of Etran’s Folly is now a town filled with the dead and dying.
On and on you go, pacing yourselves so as not to be fatigued.
Finally you are on paths you recognize.
But no sign of any servant of Vilree's.
Then, Etran’s Folly comes into view at the crest of a hill.
You rush in, past the dead houses, moving towards the Inn.
No sign of Vilree’s messenger, but that only adds to a growing sense of dread.
Natsume Ren
Natsume breathes a bit of a sigh of relief. Not a full one, though, and somehow only allowing yourself half a sigh is less relieving than not having breathed it at all.
”Do you think she might have been bluffing?”
GM Wayfinder
Into the town you move.
It is noon.
Smoke comes from chimneys.
The smell of food-- turnip based food, but warm home-cooked food nonetheless.
Children are heard laughing and playing before lunch is served.
You move towards the Feedmill, and are passing the Plaguestone, at the hear of the village-- when...
When you see it!
Nothing threatening, actually, just one of those small faceless grey alchemical drudges, that vomited corrosive liquids on you.
You have slain at least a half a dozen of them.
This is no threat to anything.
The drudge is coming from between the old houses, slowly moving on its short stubby legs.
It is 25 feet away from Sitril and seems headed for the Dwarf.
No exploration activities right now ; and weapons & shields and such not in hand since you have been marching for nearly a full day.
Natsume Ren still has a foxy step in her legs--
Round 1
Natsume
Drudge
Giggett
Sitril
Initiative
Giggett: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Sitril Anvilbrand: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Natsume Ren: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Drudge: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Natsume Ren
Rad! Usually I wouldn’t haggle, but taking my weapons and putting them on would have been my entire turn.....
Natsume, shield on one arm but flail still holstered, sees the drudge and grabs her flail. She readies to rush toward it if it tries moving away from her.
Basically: let it come to us, and if it moves in any direction away from us, Natsume will Stride toward it.
Sitril Anvilbrand
The story is called the fall of plaguestone, so the city should fall ;)
Sitril was walking with javelin in his hand, he was using it as a walking stick and looks at the drudge walking towards them.
"Is that it? The might warrior that we are supposed to fight?"
GM Wayfinder
That is fine, it's logical.
Natsume grabs her flail and gets ready to rush up to the Drudge--
So, w. the 2 action Ready, that is your 3 actions (okay?)
--but the Drudge, either responding to someone calling it by its name, or simply because such was its intention from the beginning--
--keeps on moving towards Sitril, coming right up in front of the recently repaired Dwarf's nose, and then taking a step to the side, and ending up right in front of the old Plague stone.
I would say that, technically, that last step is "away" from you, so, Natsume, if you want, you can Stride.
However,"you can use the chosen action as a reaction" means that Stride will be your reaction (no Glimpse of Redemption thing this round).
Tell me if you wish to Stride or not.
From the skies you hear ominous music cascading from the clouds, as the next seconds seem to contain the fate of your world!
Round 1
(Natsume can react to Stride)

Round 2
Natsume
Drudge
GM Wayfinder
As if in answer to Sitril's taunting, the not-so-mighty-Drudge produces a ring, and holds it in its hand.
(sorry, posted before remembering I had not written its 3rd action)
Sitril Anvilbrand
Sitril drops his javelin and reaches out for his axe and takes a swing. He will do what he does best
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
"Why don't you die already!"
Is grabbing things in two hands 2 actions or one? If two I make only 1 attack this turn.
GM Wayfinder
Sitril grabs his axe--
1 action to get a weapon, so 2 handed is still 1 action
(if you draw a bastard sword 1 handed, then it later is 1 action to get the double grip)
--and slices a little part of the Drudge off.
The Drudge does glance at Sitril, as though answering I do not die already cuz you hit like Vilree's mom!
Will Sitril's next Strike be harsher? Suspense!

Round 2
Natsume
Drudge - 3 damage 4
Giggett
Sitril, you have a +1 Striking Greataxe. I don't think you can roll a 4 with 2d12 + 3 :)
Dear DM, I feel when this ring will hit the Plaguestone, the s**t gonna hit the fan. Can I position myself between the Drudge and the stone? Is the drudge near the "hole"?
Natsume Ren
There doesn’t seem to be space for me to use a Reaction between Striding and my next turn anyway (since he’s not attacking), since the Drudge isn’t attacking, so I’m gonna Stride!
Natsume strides! Them foxy legs are made for walking, apparently. And pouncing! And wrestling! A lot of things, really. What were we doing again?
GM Wayfinder
Natsume moves around to the other side of the Drudge.
Sitril--
Giggett sees that there is no space between the Drudge and the Plaguestone.
Can I position myself between the Drudge and the stone? - No.
This great stone, covered in moss and ivy, that you know was used to exchange food and remedies for coin, saw the aid being placed on one side, and the coins dropped into a depression on the other side that was filled with vinegar to decontaminate them.
You see that the Drudge is not close to either the depression, nor the part where people recovered their medicine.
Is the drudge near the "hole"? If the "hole" is, as imagine, the depression where coins were placed: no.

Round 2
Natsume
Drudge - 3 damage 4
Giggett
Giggett takes a second to look at the Drudge and try to understand what it's doing.
I'm lost but I feel there's a message somewhere. Can I make a Sense Motive check or something to try to understand the creature and what it's doing with this ring? I take an action for that if you need.
GM Wayfinder
What Giggett and the others saw, was the Drudge moving towards Sitril, but then you realized it barely looked at the Dwarf, nor at any of you, only glancing when hit, or called at-- it was actually focused on the Plaguestone.
It stepped around Sitril stopped once adjacent to the stone.
Then it retrieved a ring it has in its hands.
And it is still looking at the stone right in front of it.
A fair guess would be that it is still intending to do something regarding this Plaguestone that it was moving towards... maybe having also to do with the ring it pulled out only once it was adjacent to the stone?
I would not say a Sense Motive would bring anything more.
Giggett
Giggett climbs on the stone (if I can, otherwise I go the other side) and tries to catch the ring in the drudge's hand.
Disarm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Disarm: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 Flat-Footed it is...
But, unfortunately, she doesn't manage to do anything but to lose balance.
GM Wayfinder
Onto the stone Giggett goes--
--and an old villager passing by the square looks up at Giggett and frowns: "Hey, what do you think you are doing?!"
Mumbling: "Foreigners, no respect at all..."
Giggett tries to kick the ring out of the Drudge's pudgy hand, but does not manage to do so--
Failure
--and even slips on some of the moss, having to spend a second to retain her balance and not fall over, losing time and ending up not that well situated.
Crit' failure! The dice roller favors dead Vilree! Flat-footed
The intensity of the music rises, and the focus is now on Sitril.
Will the dice Gods go against his last move, as they just abandoned Giggett?
Round 1
Sitril (1 more action)
Round 2
Natsume
Drudge - 4 damage
Giggett - Flat Footed
Sitril Anvilbrand
Sitril takes another swing, ignoring that he might be overreacting. 'Hitting like Vilree's mom', Sitril plan to show this pumpkin how to hit
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (19) + 9 - 5 = 23
Damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
And he does it.
Crowd cheers, drudge falls dead, ladies begin to throw rose petals to cherish Sitril strike. Fame, glory, and endless interviews ...
GM Wayfinder
Sitril takes another swing--
--he feels that he might not be overreacting.
The Dwarf hits the pumpkin-- but is one little thing away from making it explode!
1 point from a crit' ; 14 damage
The lone person crossing the square does not cheer, but looks away and hurries to the smell of turnip porridge coming from the inn.
Natsume-- will she see fame, glory, and endless foxy interviews?
Round 2
Natsume
Drudge - 18 damage
Giggett - Flat Footed
Sitril
Round 3
Natsume Ren
nooooo!!! you can’t use all three actions to attack, your multiple attack penalty is too high!!!!
haha flail go fwipfwipfwip BONK
Flail Swing: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Flail Swing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Flail Swing: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
GoR if applicable for my reaction please :D
GM Wayfinder
Thanks to Sitril's making the Drudge flat footed, there is one bonk on the creature's head--
3 damage
--but the second attack-- misses
Have you been tracking your Hero Points?
I imagine you have at least one left.
Maybe now is as good a time to use one/them to re-roll an/both attack(s)?
2nd (and 3rd)?
But you can keep one/them for later use too?
As you wish.
Natsume feels her Deity speaking to her-- it will take more than a Glimpse of Redemption for what might be coming.
Round 2
Nat' Hero Point(s) reroll(s)?
Drudge - 21 damage
Giggett - Flat Footed
Sitril
Round 3
Natsume
Natsume Ren
Haven’t been updating my Hero Points but I seem to recall having 2. I’ll reroll that second attack—but if Sitril’s 23 was 1 away from a crit, doesn’t that mean my 15 shoulda hit?? Just want to make sure I understand!
ANYWAY REROLLING—
Flail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
REROLL WAS WORSE OH NO
