"I watched him dose it so that's not the case.. The only chance of not getting drugged is if it didn't eat the food or if there is some sort of antitdote."

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

"Any chance someone could have swapped out the container the drugs are in and so he dosed it with something else?"

Thinking about it more, Mok asks, "It's possible it didn't eat the food, is the food still in the cage? Maybe it's smart enough to know the meat makes it sleepy?"

toti, overhearing the whispers:
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Totiyonce follows along with the conversation, an eyebrow arched, and occasionally peeks over her shoulder, searching for Taug.

"Interesting thought. Your friend still have the tranquilizer? Let's check."

@Toti ... none of the rest of the crew have come back belowdecks

Of note, you will need to address the hole in the lineup now that there is a missing crewmember ... rowing has a minimum 6 per shift

The Coswain clears her throat and Raag looks past her and then follows her gaze to the body of Oorug.

With a start he starts moving away, turning his head over his shoulder and shouting back at you as he gets further away. "Ah, I have some things to take care of. I'll leave the armory open for now, feel free to look into what you can. Let me know what you find. We are still on a schedule and need to get the boat moving as soon as I finish up with this necessary business."

He departs determinedly and disappears up the stairs.

Roondar looks down at his hands and realizes he still has the drugs in his hands. "huh, coulda sworn I handed that back to the captain." But he shrugs and examines the vial of drugs.

Heal: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Heal (Wis)

Totiyonce follows Raag up the stairs, poking around for her brave Taug.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

"Huh," Jugger grunts again, eyes following Raag. "Now what?" he asks the party.

Roondar is fairly certain the vial is full of some sort of heavy narcotic.

Totiyonce goes looking for Taug and stumbles upon the Captain and crew gathered around in a somber ceremony for the slain Oorug. They are stitching up his hammock as she comes up. The crew begins a song of mourning as Taug and Barka pick up the body, the Coxswain drumming along.

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Mok will go look at the cage and see if he can see if the beast just didn't eat or if the food is gone

Perception - 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

The cage is fairly clean.

Handle Animal or Survival Check, por favor

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Survival - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Mo recalls the Captain mentioning he cleaned the cage out last night and left food for the creature. The cage is still clean, with no signs of recent urination or defecation, nor any food droppings.

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Mok will wait for the captain to finish with their mourning process and say "It looks like the cage is still clean and there is no sigh that the beast didn't eat the food, as it's no where in the cage, but there also doesn't appear to be any waste from the beast either."

Mok shrugs, "So the only things I can conclude is that the food wasn't dosed with the right drugs, which Roondar is fairly certain it was, or someone removed the food after you fed the beast"

Who has access to the room again? I know only the captain has a key to the cage but I wasn't sure if the room it was in was fairly open

Captain has the only key to both the armory and the cage

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

"It was still groggy when it broke out," Jugger offers. "Leftover from the last meal, or did someone wake it up?"

What do you even do, dad!

Back on the ship, Carlianne helps you copy her map of Redlake fort asking for information on her ancestor Fabian Blix, should you be able to find it. She realizes that this raiding party of orcs may have been part of a larger whole and reconsiders her offer to travel with you to Redlake Fort, asking Raag instead to drop her off as close to Castle Firrine as possible along your way, so she can warn them to prepare for a possible assault.

Sense Motive DC15:
As she mentions this, she seems concerned about something. SOmething that agonizes her. She chooses not to share with you, and you don't believe it is related to the upcoming attack

You have slain the snake and found no sign of the woman archer in the bilges, on the rowing deck, on the main deck or in the crow's nest. Your plans from here?

"What's bothering you, lass?" Jugger asks bluntly, but not without empathy. "Something painful, that's clear."

Roondar glances at Jugger with a "What the Hell" expression on his face. "Aye Child, what is it? You fought well beside us and we owe you. Is there something we can help with?

*Housekeeping*
Roondar is going to start filling his 2nd level slots with lesser resorations (3), So we can get rid of Conditions: Fatigued after failed skill checks. Once we get closer to our final destination, he'll switch to something else.

Also, what was that Saddle that Carlianne gave Roondar?

hoesemaster's saddle

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

"gave Roondar"

Is Raag expecting to get going right away or is the whole crew going to keep looking for the woman?

Mok will keep looking around for her unless we are getting started again, which he will mention he thinks is a terrible idea with her loose on the boat

"You've sea3ched the boat and secured every room? Is she still on it? Perhaps it makes sense to leave her behind if she is off the boat?"

He ponders it for a moment, "Tou have another hour and then we need to get going. We have tarried here long enough. We will cut down a tree while you search to provide lumber for the hole in the supply room."

Roondar & Winter will Search around as well. They will stay out of the bilge and stay in compartments that are occupied.

"Look guys.  The b$*$$ can't stay invisible forever," says Totiyonce.  "Why don't we just keelhaul that starboard anchor and weigh sail upriver?  Then, during each shift change, we can spend a couple of minutes and search the ship for her?  And when we find the arrow-flinging whore, I'll let my spiders do their thing."

"lesser resorations" -- brilliant, mark!

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
"Oh, let the poor girl go warn her friends. Not all women are as soft-bellied as you are, my dears."

Stowaway

Mo and Roondar search the ship again and find nothing. Not sure where Mo is looking with those random perception rolls so I chose random parts of the ship

Calrianne

She sighs as Jugger asks her and with obvious discomfort says, "The stories passed down in my family suggest my ancestor was a vile, despicable man. My great grandfather would get visibly discomfited and tremble, sometimes angry whenever we mentioned the fort or the castellan."

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Mok was looking all over, I guess I could have called that out better

Mok looks at Cal with renewed interest, "I love stories about history, though dark yours may be, we can't learn from past mistakes if we don't share what they are"

"If you would be willing to share your tale, it could help us learn more about this region and perhaps learn about other artifacts that are in these parts"

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Carlianne...

I don't understand Carlianne's significance to the adventure. It was probably explained in the live session. Any help here?

Jugger nods in understanding, "You carry the burden of your ancestor's failings."

*

Stowaway

"What parts of the boat have we not checked? The bilge?"

Ah yes, Calrianne descends from the old castellan of the fort from last century. She gave you all a map of Redlake fort and asked for information on her ancestor following her rescue.

For her part, you interrogated the orc raiders and found out they were part of a scouting party trying to get information about the Castle Firrine defenses, so she is riding down river with you for a bit and then hopping off to go warn them

The cavalier looks at Mo, "I don't know anything more specific than that, but the memory of my great grandfather's pain is poignant and not easily forgotten. I recalled it just now as we discussed the fort again, like it was just yesterday."

You have checked all parts of the boat over the past hour. Mo, raging in frustration (like a man who has lost his car keys) keeps looking at the same places over and over, but the hour passes and you all turn nothing up inside the boat. Raag comes to you, the crew having loaded a large tree up on the port side and says, "It's time to go. May need to triple watch tonight."

Assume a take 20 for every room at this point (although that would take longer than an hour), but if you're just going to spit perception checks at me without anything new to do.

M Oread 8th Level Druid, AC 18, touch 10, flat-footed 18 (+7 armor, +1 shield) hp 59 (8d8+8) Fort 6, Ref 4, Will 10; +4 vs. fey and plant-targeted effects Resist acid 5

Roondar says "Aye, Calrianne, tell us this tale." Once his searches are done, he says "not sure what else we can do, we'll have to be more vigilant. With our luck, there is little chance the woman simply left. She will attack when we are asleep most likely."

There is no tale to tell ... just a sad memory of her great grandfather ... perhaps I was too obtuse.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

"Has anyone searched the outside of the boat?" Jugger grumbles, feeling extra tired and frustrated. He moves off to do so.

Also, have we tried tracking with Winter's scent ability?

How are you searching outside the boat?

You are anchored in the middle of the river.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Jugger, hopefully with the help of Roondar and Winter (if not Toti and Mok), will walk the perimeter of the deck, checking over the side down to the water line, as well as around the rudder and oar holes. Are there any spots not visible from the deck?

"Could she use magic to stay underwater?"

Raag shrugs to Jugger's question as he gets the keelboat prepared for launch. The dwarf (who needs to be rowing soon) takes a purposed stride around the railing, leaning hard and inspecting the outside of the boat.

Halfway around his circuit, the boat launches and the dwarf staggers for a moment as the anchor is freed and the boat lurches forward.

Grumbling, he continues around to complete his search by ducking under the ballista and as he does so, he spies a flash of brown hair blowing out from under the deck, but on the exterior of the ship, as if someone is somehow perched behind and under the boat above the rudder, and interestingly enough, near the anchor chain when it is extended.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Jugger will keep an eye on the spot while waving everyone over. He holds up a finger to his lips and points.

M Oread 8th Level Druid, AC 18, touch 10, flat-footed 18 (+7 armor, +1 shield) hp 59 (8d8+8) Fort 6, Ref 4, Will 10; +4 vs. fey and plant-targeted effects Resist acid 5

How high up is the spot where she is hiding? From the water line?

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Does Roondar even see the Dwarfs signal?

If so, he will have Winter Stay at a spot just above where Jugger is indicating.

If the woman would be within reach from the water Roondar will Shapechange into a shark and attack her from below. If she isn't, he will hold and wait to see if Jugger can flush her towards the deck.

Probably 10 to 15 feet above the water.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

I assumed we were all still searching the boat together. Or at least Toti would be hitting on Taug.

Toti went to "work" per her post earlier ... only searching on shift change

Roondar spies the dwarf looking since he was actively searching (as does Mo for that matter).

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Mok will look to see where Jugger is looking and see if he sees anything as well

Perception - 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

If he can spot her he will cast enlarge and rage to try and get enough reach to hit her with his reach and power attack (15' range)

To Hit - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Damage - 3d6 + 17 ⇒ (2, 4, 2) + 17 = 25

With a point out, Mo(k) is able to spot her hair as well. He realizes there is no need to rage given the angle from where you are on the ship and the distance to where she is, you couldn't reach her without going through the ship.

Note you cant actually see her, you're leaning over and looking overboard from the really high back of the keelboat ... if you'll recall this thing is obscenely tall in the front and back, making for a really odd looking ship. She is apparently underneath the part that sticks out the back, near where the anchor chain extends from the boat (presumedly, you can't see it at this angle).

The three of you are attempting to be quiet ... make stealth checks

M Oread 8th Level Druid, AC 18, touch 10, flat-footed 18 (+7 armor, +1 shield) hp 59 (8d8+8) Fort 6, Ref 4, Will 10; +4 vs. fey and plant-targeted effects Resist acid 5

Stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12 Roondar
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Winter

Whaaa waaa

Roondar will wait for the woman to get within reach.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Jugger wasn't trying to be stealthy, just not shouting until the others are warned and ready.

Jugger will ready Kneecapper and stand by the rail. "Raag, bring the archers," he tells the captain.

DM Fflash wrote:

truth.

since she's sounding near the front for first shift, i'm going to assume she's not immediately seeing what's going on.  so, perception check to see if she notices any of those fools playing at the ass-end of the boat.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

That b~&#+ had obviously run off. Totiyonce is irritated she didn't get the chance to deal with her properly, so while she's waiting for the rest of the crew to figure out she's gone she pulls out her mirror and checks her teeth for extraneous breakfast crumbs.

assuming the perception succeeds:
Totiyonce then catches a glimpse of Jugger's signal. They'd found her. "Oh happy day." She slips quietly along the mead side of the boat, and pokes her head over the rail, eager to see what the fuss is about.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

assuming the stealth succeeds:
When she arrives at the back of the boat, she takes her mirror, and casts Mage Hand, drifting it out behind the boat, and angling it for the party to see.

"I see you," she whispers. "Whore."

btw . . .
mead side: port side.
starshine side: starboard side.

The party quietly gathers together at the back of the ship, the crew gaining interest in what's going on and beginning to gather and watch.

When Toti arrives and sends her mirror out she pans it around to see a unique sight. It appears that someone has set up a hastily constructed harness, with her backpack and bedroll forming the frame of a tight hammock like arrangement underneath the overhang of the sterncastle. Tight up against the bottom of the ship, one could likely only spot her easily from the water.

Toti's mirror swings around to spy the woman's face, enabling the diva to confirm the stowaway's identify just as the woman locks eyes with her. She makes a quick rude gesture and whips her bow up to aim at the mirror.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 11

I think we have some of these already:
Heal Check for Drug info
Sense Motive for Carlianne
3x Perception Checks searching for Stowaway (didn't find anything obv.)
Perception check to see Jugger pointing at the stowaway

Awarded for the drug already

200xp for Sense Motive

Swam-bush!

Totiyonce spies the orc swimming up the river and Roondar and Jugger see the orcs in the bushes. Mok, unfortunately, took an inopportune moment to slyly hide his head and pick his nose and misses the indiciators.

Initiative! Everyone can act in the surprise round except Mok. i think I got that all correct from our last rolls in Roll 20
