Totiyonce is angry.

As she hits the stairs, Totiyonce leaps, wall-runs, and flips past the crewmen -- reserving a sultry wink for Taug near the top of her arc -- and comes to a stop as close to the Coxswain as she can get. "You DARE to threaten my Taug?!?!" she screams at the ape.

Straightening, she belts out a thumpy, ape-smackin' beat, filled with "you just an o'ergrown rat that's got too fat" refrains.

Reverse Donkey Kong Round 2

Init: Bakkara, Coxswain, Crew, Toti, Raag, Roondar, Jugger, Mo

The Coxswain curses and discards her whip, ripping a shortsword from her belt and drumming a slightly different beat on her drum as she takes a step back.

A large coil of rope in the bottom of one of the rowing banks slowly uncoilds and moves like a snake toward the monkey. It rears back and then lashes out, striking forward lighting fast with the entire length of rope wrapping the massive beast up. Surprisingly, the nimble monkey is so enraged, and slightly dazed that it tries to dodge out of the way, but fails, getting entangled.

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 2 = 9

Heal or Handle Animal DC15:
You note the creature's bloodshot eyes and languid movements. It appears like it is just coming out of some sort of narcotic or tranquilization

The crew flees the lower deck as Toti wall runs around them and enters the rowing decks with a flourish, her drum reverberating throughout the entire deck.

Roondar moves forward, avoiding the crew and sends Winter to flank. She darts forward under the gorilla's reach, who while tussling with the rope still takes a swipe at her with a powerfully clawed hand. She sneaks just under it.

To hit AoO: 1d20 + 10 - 6 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 10 - 6 - 2 = 14

Jugger takes a half-hearted swing, but the confined space is stifling.

Mo makes it to his crew bunk.

The gorilla attempts to burst its bonds, but the tight coils of the boat rope make it nigh impossible. It hoots in frustration.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10; fail.

At party

Jugger maintains his defensive posture and attacks again. "C'mon you hairy brute. Quit y'er whinging!"

Since there was some confusion on the quickslot items, could I have made it below deck last round?

Totiyonce slides to a halt near the Coxswain, locks eyes with the beast, and reaches out her right arm.  Hundreds of tiny spiders come crawling up out of every crack and crevice, swarming up her boots and flooding in waves along her arm.  Finally, they begin to cluster in her right hand, and the spiders flow outward into the shape of a long, sinuous whip flecked with spider legs and fangs.

"With all those extra arms, I figured I'd bring a few extra legs to the party, too."

ha!  we're totally gonna be like the avengers where they roll off all the smart-ass quips as they're fighting whatever current nightmare is at hand.

Totiyonce casts Whip of Spiders and moves up to stand near the Coxswain, stopping just 15' from the ape.

Absolutely ... I had assumed that you decided to still move on after our discussion. You have the movement rate to get to belowdecks behind the Coxswain

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

"By Grabthar's Hammer..."

Reverse Donkey Kong Round 3

Init: Bakkara, Coxswain, Crew, Toti, Raag, Roondar, Jugger, Mo

The Coxswain looks entirely poleaxed as Roondar asks her about drugs and then, weakly, "In the galley ... locked cabinet."

She returns her attention to the gorilla ... (Knowledge Nature to identify ... Roondar failed his)

... and casts another spell, creating a cold and eerie feeling in the room that the beast shakes off in its rage.

Gorilla Will Save: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 2 = 14

Toti brings out her whip!

Roondar moves (still to the armory or up to the galley?) as Winter gashes the creature's leg, but it is to big and strong to fall.

Jugger and Mo smash it twice causing it real harm and drawing blood. In response it bites it rages at the ceiling above it pounding and biting and smashing and doing tremendous damage to the boards leading to the upper deck causing major cracks, splinters and punching through in a couple places.

Roondar retcon? At party for the rest ... BTW, some of the crew members are still hurt from the drake fight ... have healed naturally over night but that is it.

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Mok will continue to press the beast

Small retcon, since I forgot ... and it's kinda cool and we haven't done anything else so really it's just an extension

Having latched all 4 claws into the abovedeck, the beast rips them all back with staggering ferocity, rending a massive hole in the ceiling and destroying the cargo hatch. This additional space enables it to expand to its full bulk. It lets our a tremendous scream as its emancipation allows it to flex and extend. (No longer squeezed)

Rend Damage: 4d4 + 16 - 8 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 1) + 16 - 8 = 15

The crew members on the deck scatter like cockroaches.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Jugger roars, dropping the defense and barreling forward over the gorilla and up through the hole in the deck.

Imp Overrun w/ Strength Surge: 1d20 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 15 + 4 = 24
Success deals 7 damage.

Totiyonce flinches, leans back, and throws her left arm up to cover her eyes from the onslaught of splinters and debris.  "Big bastard," she screams.  "That was my favorite spot to Tango." She lashes out with her spider whip.

DON'T FORGET THE +1 ATTACK/DAMAGE FOR THE BARD SONG!

You can wield this object as if it were an actual whip, except you make a melee touch attack with it instead of a regular attack. Any creature you strike with the whip takes swarm damage as if it were attacked by a spider swarm (1d6 points of damage plus poison and distraction). The swarm whip is able to damage creatures with armor or natural armor, even if a normal whip could not. It cannot be used to make bull rush, grapple, or trip attacks, and (unlike a swarm) is subject to a miss chance for concealment and cover.

Poison: Swarm—injury; save Fort DC 11; frequency 1/round for 2 rounds; effect 1d2 Str; cure 1 save. The save DC is Constitution-based.

Distraction (DC 11): A creature with this ability can nauseate the creatures that it damages. Any living creature that takes damage from a creature with the distraction ability is nauseated for 1 round; a Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 creature’s HD + creature’s Con modifier) negates the effect.

Spider Whip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Whip Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Poison STR Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1

Is Ragg doing anything or is he ok with his ship getting destroyed?

I know my first post had him moving and coming to the fight, but I have him on a timer piloting the boat to safety until the crew can take over. Round 5 he will be engaged ... just didn't document it right.

"Get to the chef ... he keeps the key.", the Coxswain chokes out the words through gritted teeth as she pulls a javelin and hucks it, just missing the ape's thigh, and then takes a guarded step closer to the beast with her shortsword held tightly in her fist.

To hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Toti swings her whip, (Touch attack: important to note when listing this; can't figure out of it requires weapon proficiency? Touch attack and non-proficiency penalty would put you at Touch AC 13 which hits regardless). The spiders swarm on to the creatures chest and bite in an isolated area. In its rage, it seems not to notice.

<insert Roondar and Winter here>

Jugger pushes through the beast who gives enough ground due to the entangling rope and climbs up to the above deck, stomping on the beast's face on the way and breaking a tooth. (Roll a climb check to ensure you don't get a 1, please)

Raag, who was on his way to the stairs, changes direction and moves to the opposite side of Jugger on the hole, sheathing his blades and drawing a javelin.

The beast takes a bite at Jugger's retreating leg just scraping the armored boot, but not penetrating, but Mo gains its full remaining attention with a rib-cracking blow.

Roondar runs to the Galley. Is the Galley on the main deck or on the Rowing deck, sorry can't remember and I can't decipher the map He will Double move, and yell at the Chef "Your damn dirty ape is loose, give me the drugs you've been using! or we're all gonna die!"

Roondar brings up a decent point

Mok growls at the Coxswain "Do we kill it or do you need it alive"

That's potentially a crit?

Raag answers Mok instead of the Coxswain, shouting down from above while he dodges a saliva-laden bite, "Save the boat first, but if we can keep the beast alive, it'll be worth money for all of us!"

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Is there a way to pull your shot? ie, a check to try and determine how injured something is and then try and go half strength or anything like that?

Or would it just be to switch to non-lethal damage?

Non lethal with a lethal weapon rules, yup.

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Mok will also 5' backwards after hitting it

Reverse Donkey Kong Round 5

Init: Bakkara, Coxswain, Crew, Toti, Raag, Roondar, Jugger, Mo

The Coxswain changes her drum tune and you see Raag getting pumped up. As Toti swats the creature in the dangly bits with her whip and distracts it for a moment, Raag leaps down from the hole on to the gorilla's back pounding on its head with his scimitar pommel, but unable to penetrate the thick skull.

Bakkara fort save vs Poison: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12; success
Save vs distraction: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8; fail

Raag to hit: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 4 = 15; miss

Roondar makes it to the galley (both rounds required) and barks at the cowering chef. Intimidate check please

Wintet takes advantage of the gorilla's hopping and hooting as the spiders tear into its nether regions and as Raag leaps down from on top, the wolf catches an Achilles tendon and brings the beast crashing down into the deck floor splintering pieces of the rail.

Unfortunately this happens just as Jugger swings his hammer and then dwarf strikes only air.

Mom leaps in with the hammer for a sucker punch trying to pop the gorilla on the head and rings its bell and then he jumps away, wary of its teeth and claws still.

The girallon howls and scratches itself trying to remove the spiders.

No action this round due to distraction. At party again

Mok is out of reach? Stepping back in then?

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Yeah waiting to see what it does as it moves way before me before I step in again

Not really, it was nauseated so it didn't go this round at all ... so you'll be delaying past your normal action, then?

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Jugger waits, guarding the upper deck. If the gorilla stands, he will bosh it on the head.

EDIT: I heard Ragg, so switch to non-lethal I guess.

Totiyonce, seeing the effectiveness of her spiders, lashes out again, slapping spindly, prickly spiders all up and down the prone monster's nether regions.  This ape would tremble with spider nightmares if it was the last thing she did.

With a final whip of her spiders, Toti flicks a ton of them into the nose and mouth of the creature on the ground. They swarm in and subsequently the gorilla's eyes roll back as it gags and coughs and then collapses into unconsciousness.

Roondar retrieves a vial of something black and viscous from Grashnahk and rushes down to see the now knocked out creature on the ground. He holds the vial in his hand and sighs, looking around a bit helplessly.

END COMBAT! Everyone receives 400xp. Toti gets 160xp for the kill. Roondar receives 100xp for skill usage

Raag and the Coxswain quickly direct the crew to haul the creature back to the armory where you spy a massive locked cage. As they oversee putting the beast back in, the Coxswain leans her head into to Raag and whispers something. (Perception to overhear) He nods back thoughtfully before turning to you all, "Can't thank you enough for your work today. We, ah, would've been in a bad place if you weren't here."

He scratches the back of his head a bit sheepishly, "Although, we wouldn't have been in this place if I hadn't taken on the cargo."

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Roondar shakes his head and hands the captain the drugs, and says "That was a beast I had never seen before. It was not from around the trunau area anyway. Where did you capture it?"

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Jugger lets the rage fade and sits down on the deck, letting out a deep sigh. He hears Mo from below and perks up some. "... sabotage?" His demeanor darkens and he looks around the crew, accusation bright in his one good eye.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 ... anyone look guilty?

Mok overhears ...:

Coxswain leans in to Raag, "You have the only key to the cage and it isn't broken open. You still have it, right? Ok then, the rail wasn't an isolated incident. Someone is sabotaging stuff on the ship. Think it's the new guys? Rest of the crew has been with us for a long time."

Raag thinks a moment before he responds, "Halgra vouched for them. They're good. Doesn't mean someone doesn't want us to think they're involved, thus the timing. They risked their lives, both times ... this wasn't something they caused. The coincidence bothers me, though, and we need to look into it. Any of the crew have a reason to hate them vs us?"

"It's a girralon, from the Mwangi expanse. I picked it up from a merchant out of Lastwall up from Absalom named Jo'zotic. After we drop you off at Redlake, we are headed to Freedom Town to sell it for use in the pits ...", his eyes gloss over for a moment, remembering.

"Anyhow, need to resecure the cage and ensure it gets its meal. Not sure why it was awake ... should've been tranq'd. May see if I can dig up a chain and an extra lock."

Jugger doesn't spy a guilty look among the crew on deck.

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

"If the beast was supposed to be tranq'd, maybe we should start there and fine out why it wasn't? Who's in charge of keeping it under control?"?

"We take turns. Grashnahk doses its food and then one of the crew members delivers the meal to the creature. It wakes enough to eat and then generally passes right back out. We have seen zero activity let alone aggression since its been on board."

He frowns in contemplation as he looks back at the slumbering beast.

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

Jugger jumps down into the hold and joins the conversation. "So who fed it last?"

Raag looks at you oddly and then states lamely, "I did."

Male Exiled Dwarf Barbarian (armored hulk) 6

"Huh," Jugger grunts. He keeps his eye locked on Raag.

"I go in once a week since I have the only key to the cage, to clean out the filth. When I do that I take dinner. I left it there, locked the cage and then headed out for bed."

Male Horc 5th Level Bloodrager

Mok rubs his chin, "Then we know it was fed, what we don't know is was the food dosed." looking at Raag, "With your permission captain, I would like to question Gashnakh on if he dosed it last night"

"Also, you know your crew, anyone skilled enough to get around that lock without the key?"
