For a few minutes, Tybalt and Devin both look at the notes, picked up from beside the small body in the white and red robes, and recognize that the esoteric diagrams within are some sort of field research notes.

King in Thorns slideshow!

As you look at one another, deciding what to do, you think about the mission Venture-Captain Evni Zongnoss gave you, which is to track down the whereabouts of Pathfinder agents who went missing when the undead hordes struck, for which she gave you information, dossiers that contain information on all known Pathfinder agents in the region surrounding Goldenflame, as well as burlap bags to carry back any remains you might find of those fallen Pathfinders, to bring closure to their loved ones.

She also asked you to recover the fragments of history and culture that yet survive, and that Goldenflame is known for its documentation of the history of both southeastern Lastwall and the activities of the church of Iomedae in the region, as well as its collection of invaluable local curiosities accrued over time. Those relics and stories—if they can be recovered, then Lastwall can live on.

So, do you feel like making a quick last tour of Goldenflame village now, before entering the college, to recover what you are here for ; or do you enter the college, to carry out your mission, and move to the village after...?

Can we come back to the village after investigating the college?

King in Thorns slideshow!

As Tybalt is thinking about this, he suddenly sees some of the mountains on the horizon-- move!

From the higher vantage point of the stairs leading to the college, he looks out and shudders: those are not hills, it seems that the faint shapes on the horizon are some Gargantuan zombie amalgam monstrosities approaching from the west!

The Dwarf estimates the zombies are headed toward the town, and, while these massive undead are quite far from Goldenflame, they still seem to be only an hour and a half away or so.

You all begin to feel a sense of dread that will surely slowly grow...

So, yes, you believe that if you explore fast enough, you can move back to the village, but you do not want to be there when those things arrive.

GM Rolls:

But the dread boosts you somehow, and, facing this adversity you know you will face the dangers with heroic gusto!

All gain a Hero Point (so, you all have 2 I think, none having used any yet?)

Kamil looks at the corpse, trying to determine if it's a dead Pathfinder.

I hope we will have time...

While observing the corpse, he says to his comrades. I think it will be best if we do two teams of two to cut the time for investigating this place by half.

"I'd rather be safe and stay together. There's still undead about." Tybalt, too, looks over the corpse for indicators as to his identity

King in Thorns slideshow!

As you reflect on what happened in the village--
Retcon
--Tybalt thinks of after the fight around the fountain, when, looking at the corpses of the undead you fought, you found one that was human sized, with Taldoran clothing, close to the Wayfinder on the undead horses.
Thinking this to be the undead-dead body of Clement Martin, you take the remains with you.

Then, in the chapel, you found what seemed to be a dead Goblin with a symbol that might be of Sarenrae, and, believing these to possibly be the remains of Gibb Potsmasher, who will no longer smash pots, you also recovered his remains, and placed them in another bag.

Also, besides Larraz Virtanne's wayfinder, you also recovered, from within the inn, part of the armor of Knight of Ozem that fought to the last, believing this might be a relic to remember those who died fighting.

The piece of armor can be slipped into anyone's bag (weightless), but each bag carrying the remains of fallen comrades in arms, is a bit bulky to carry.
(1 Bulk each)

Thus, before leaving the village, you had a look at the broken cart to see about repairing it to transport bodies and such--

(I forgot that the DC of Aid Another is 20, so way more difficult to Aid for +1 than to just succeed - since several can work at the same time I'll just count both as Crafting checks, not Aid)
_____

Laraman and Devin both work away on the nonfunctioning cart with broken axle, and seem to repair it.
But when you try to push it... it seems quite rickety.
Thus you should probably spend some more minutes to make completely sturdy and viable.
(another pair of checks?)

It would be best to have a horse, but two people could pull the cart along, at a fair speed, but not very fast.

King in Thorns slideshow!

Crafting Laraman: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Crafting Devin: 1d20 ⇒ 18

Spending some more time, a total of twenty minutes from the beginning, gets the axle repaired, the wheels aligned, and everything is now fine.

You can place the bodies - and anything else you find, if you wish - in the cart, and pull it over slowly and steadily as you move off towards the college.

The college, where--

King in Thorns slideshow!

Kamil, Tybalt and Laraman--
(I will use Fumbus' stats from now on for Laraman)
--check the corpse, but are unable to determine much of anything.

So, Devin and Kamil can still attempt one check, w/o adding more time (Tybalt and Laraman both did two checks):
• either Medicine or Perception for the body
• or Religion or Society for the clothes
(all can of course, after that, roll again one of those two, adding more time spent ; time is in 10 minute increments)

"OK then. Let's keep moving." Tybalt opens the door and moves into the building.

King in Thorns slideshow!

Sorry, forgot to show some of the map before (body was in B1 part)

Having stepped into the veranda -like area, which abuts the wall of the college, but has a glass roof and window, opening over what used to be the nice grounds, you check the body.

Then, seeing two doors to your left, one leading to a little corridor that runs to the other side of the veranda, the other that must open into some room in between the two parts of the veranda, you decide to go for the main door to the college itself.

Tybalt opens it, and you see what has to be the main hall, that was used for a variety of functions, probably staff meetings, graduation ceremonies, and conferences and all...
But, perhaps once majestic, and filled with knowledge being shared, this cavernous hall now truly resembles a cave: dark and dank.

Dirt and standing water obscure the once-pristine white and gray tile, and the stone colonnades stretching to the ceiling are covered in grime and mold.

Sweeping staircases to the northwest and southwest lead upward, as does a spiral staircase.

Smashed statues and torn paintings line the walls here: the signs of a struggle.

Several doors exit to various rooms to the north, south, and east.

As Laraman decides to go rest and keep the cart safe, being quite winded, you are all surprised to hear a voice calling out to.
First going for your weapons, you then realize it is a Halfling Pathfinder rushing up.
"Sorry, sorry, I am late. Venture-Captain Evni Zongnoss sent me... and I just followed your tracks."

A bit out of breath, Bladden Pennyworth arrives, holding a big file of legal papers in hand: "It seems you forgot to sign these before leaving..."--

--Meanwhile, Devin opens the door and, seeing no undead or such, starts to walk into a room, going to where the next door was, discovering that dirty rugs, shattered desks, and smashed-in doors are what remains of what obviously must be a series of small offices.
Papers and long-dried inkwells are scattered among the detritus.

And you spot some... glint.

Bladden pulls out a-- wayfinder!

At the same time in the northwesternmost office, just to his left, Bladden sees-- a body, surrounded by chunks of gray rotten flesh!

Tybalt sees there IS a body.
It was there, surrounded by chunks of gray rotten flesh, that did not come from it.
It seems as it if the person went down but not before taking a whole bunch of... zombies? - with it.

Tybalt has a quick look at the body: heavy claw marks and deep rips mar this corpse, which lies sprawled and partially covered by the broken desk in the northwest corner.

The desiccated flesh of zombies litters the floor around it.

Scraps of cloth hang tattered around its mangled hands, which even now are locked into fists.

Tybalt the Fashionable sees there are not much clothes left to see... however, Crafting check (using your 20), the Dwarf does observe closely the tattered cloth around the corpse’s hands and recognizes said tatters to be the remains of ruined handwraps, such as those used by brawlers.

These zombies were all killed by hand?!

Meanwhile, Devin-- can check the body itself with a Medicine or Perception check
