Laraman moves over, feeling something calling him to this place, as though... it were meant for him.
Having checked the door, he swings it open, revealing--
--a bunch of grime-caked and smashed glass cases that occupy much of this: apothecary!
There also are dusty shelves lining many of the walls.
Only one window to the outside.
And d door to the northwest leads to some small room.
This apothecary was where citizens of Goldenflame could procure medicines, herbs, teas, and the like for treating ailments and improving overall health.
Laraman could work here.
Laraman Latharian |
"Might have hit the jackpot here guys. Plenty of supplies to keep you healthy." Laraman says as he begins sifting through all the materials for things he can currently use.
crafting?/Medicine?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
GM Wayfinder |
Laraman spends about 10 minutes rummaging around in the apothecary and sees that the proprietor of the apothecary scrambled to gather as many of their wares as they could during the townsfolk’s escape to Vellumis: there is not much left.
He does, however, find valuable scented candles, oils, and dried herbs used for aromatic, medical, or therapeutic purposes. These are worth some money, and represent 1 light Bulk if taken.
GM Wayfinder |
Laraman having finished taking his things, he looks at the others to see if they do anything or search or whatnot while he is busy finding these wares...
If not, do you move on, and to where?
GM Wayfinder |
Passing two windows, Tybalt leads you over to the door of what must have been a small tavern, an inn.
Outside the building, a painted sign reading “The Flaming Wheel”, and decorated with a flaming chariot wheel, hangs from one chain, swaying gently in the wind.
Tybalt looks up at it, and tells you: "The wheel is important to the faith of Iomedae..."
So you all look up at the wheel, and wonder why, but you guess the Dwarf knows what he is talking about.
Tybalt opens the door.
Inside, you see a broken circular table and door.
Part of a makeshift barricade, they rest near the entrance of this modest tavern.
Other similar tables and accompanying chairs are scattered throughout the area.
Long-dried blood smears decorate the floor and walls.
The bar is haphazardly covered in tankards—signs of the final celebration of life.

T: 1d20 ⇒ 8[/dice]
Tybalt Stonepeak |
Pausing for a moment, "Let's be about our work. This place is becoming redundant and tiresome." He moves into the room looking for any sign of life, but not expecting to find any.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt moves in, and, nearly immediately, spots some blood-soaked body, lying on the floor, where the flies were buzzing.
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt moves in, and studies the corpse for some 10 minutes, looking over the body, its surroundings, and the equipement.
He determines it has been heavily damaged by "human" teeth... probably undead. Hopefully undead!
A broken piece of plate armor lies nearby, bearing iconography of a flame and the hilt of a sword.
Seeing the size, Tybalt believes this was once a gnome or halfling.
Laraman Latharian |
Laraman follows behind, but doesn't find this location very interesting.
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt spends some time looking at the plate armor, at first something nag him, and he is quite sure there are some elements that are religious... but he cannot put his finger on what.
Maybe his friends might--(Religion checks possible)
But, as Tybalt keeps on examining the piece of plate armor, he also recognizes the armor as that famously worn by the Knights of Ozem, now known as the Knights of Lastwall.
Laraman waits while the Dwarf analyzes things... while, during this time, the others--
GM Wayfinder |
Kamil leans over Tybalt's shoulder, but sees nothing regarding this armor.
GM Wayfinder |
Does Laraman take a look at the armor, or is this truly not interesting to him?
Do you look around this place a bit more, do anything else here?
GM Wayfinder |
You know that you are in what was Last Wall before it just fell, so it would be normal to find one here.
Laraman Latharian |
Don't have religion trained.
Laraman takes a quick look, "No idea. Not interested in the divine."
GM Wayfinder |
Having checked the body, you glance at one another.
Do you look around this place a bit more, do anything else here, move on?
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt leaves, and starts to head to the next building--
(say if anyone does something else before following)
Laraman Latharian |
Laraman follows along.
Whoever thought a PFS scenario where players check like 12 abandoned buildings would be an interesting scenario...well, lets just say I wish it was little more interesting. I imagine its heavily contributing to the lack of player posts or agency in PbP format.
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt, followed by Laraman, comes up to a grimy window, beside the main double-doors to this rather large building.
Through the window you do not see anything moving, nor much in the place.
Your take is that this is, was, some general store.
GM Wayfinder |
You all move on up outside the last building around the square, and let Tybalt swing the doors open--
--letting out a wave of mold, like a real cloud, that Tybalt sees seems to puff up from spoiled and spilled food...
The spores float out and engulf the group... but it seems that the sunlight burns up the spores as they come out.
So, though you all cough, Tybalt is the only one who feels burning in his lungs.
Tybalt can make two Fortitude saves vs. Poison
Laraman Latharian |
Laraman closely watches Tybalt to see if he will require medical assistance. He pulls out his two vials of antidote in case they are needed.
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt cannot avoid breathing in these spores that... burn his throat, even if he has strong blood. But he manages to recover rapidly--
4 damage after resistance (cured in 2nd round)
--but this fight against the poison drained his body, and Tybalt feels tired.
you are Drained 1 (-1 on Constitution-based checks, such as Fortitude saves)
1 damage & -1 to max HP, so HP 17/22
Laraman Latharian |
Laraman switches, instead, to his medical tools. "Not to worry Tybalt, I can patch even lung injuries up."
medicine to treat wounds: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
healing: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt waits patiently in the entrance, while Laraman spends 10 minutes patching him up, using some herbal extracts and swabs, and heals him.
(Tybalt @22/22 & Drained 1)
GM Wayfinder |
Do any others join Tybalt inside?
Does Tybalt go back to be with the others?
Your maps show that Goldenflame College is a 10-minute walk south from Goldenflame itself.
GM Wayfinder |
Enter the building?
Check out one of those you saw already?
Head towards the College?
GM Wayfinder |
So, you all take the 10 minute walk down the road that leads south of Goldenflame, to Goldenflame College.
As you approach the building, it seems it has been abandoned, and appears run down, yet it stii bears signs of its once-beautiful architecture: dirty and ivy-wrapped columns, majestic archways, and a partially intact stained-glass window portraying Iomedae herself, as some easily recognize the famed Goddess who was a local warrior.
Two wide staircases lead into the college, and centered above them is the religious symbol of Iomedae.
Engraved into the graying stone is: “Goldenflame College, Est. 4083 ar.”
A pair of sweeping staircases lead to a veranda across the entire front of the college, with entrances to a reception area and the main hall on either side.
See Map added towards bottom (placed your minis towards the entrance)

society: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
"Pre-Cheliax...popular in Vellumis. At least Cheliax's corruption hasn't spread to this place as well. Just undead I suppose." Laraman says in passing.
Tybalt Stonepeak |
"Yeah. Pretty."
Society: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
"Well, times a'wasting. Let's go see what there is to see." Tybalt walks up the stairs into the college.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
GM Wayfinder |
Approaching, Tybalt sees many windows, a lot broken, thus, though he himself does not care, he feels the light level will probably be normal throughout most of the college.
He also gauges the height of the place, and thinks that the rooms will be big with ceilings around 10 feet high.
Going up the right stairs, as he faces the college, Tybalt spots a body on the landing, its back to the stairs, lying face down on the veranda covered porch.
This small corpse’s hand is outstretched to the door of Goldenflame College.
The body is clad in dirtied white-and- ed robes with gold trim, shredded from the back as though by cruel claws.
A small notebook has fallen nearby, its pages stained with dried blood.
GM Wayfinder |
Tybalt has a look at the notebook... it is filled with esoteric diagrams.
