Farryn is frustrated at his flask, "Jeeze the guy who made these must have been a quack. It barely melted the target at all!"

Level four and that's the first hit with that 2d6 persistent flask and the dude legit rolls a 19 on the flat check. I had such high hopes! :(

He tosses a fire flask at a different target and kazaaps two with some more lightning.

Ukh's first bolt goes wide, but his second delivers a solid hit to Red.

Farryn then sets Red on fire, before electrocuting the two remaining elementals...

...but Red dodges the worst of it.

Dranald's force weapon the takes out Red, following which he Strides forward, and delivers a blow to Cyan.

The final elemental, not appreciating this, smacks back at him...

The griffons eye you with some suspicion, but allow you to approach the aerie gate, which rests farther up the path from their nest.

The ancient shrine gate at the aerie is relatively intact, although wind erosion over the years has worn away at some of the stone elements. There are faded carvings in the back wall of the gate: A katana framed by the sun, and a crescent moon etched with a depiction of the moon cycle.

At the center of the gate is a dais covered in carved channels, where you can place the sky diamond. When you do so, the prism catches the afternoon light and refracts golden light across the summit that flows through the dais’s channels into the mountaintop.

Natural energy flows into a quill in Farryn's pack, causing it to shine with golden light and dance lightly in the air for a few seconds when released, becoming obviously magical and increasing its value to 15 gp!

Hannah will spend time analyzing the worn stone gate, and especially the Katana, to make sure it isn't in danger of collapsing.

She'd like to offer the griffons some scraps of boar meat, so they begin to recognize visitors as friendly.

And she'd like to breathe in that fresh mountain air while gazing out over the landscape.

Some people have a soft spot for certain character races. Some people love certain animals. As a child I loved Greek mythology, and especially tales of griffons. "Nefreet" was the name of my first RPG character—a sentient, crimson crested griffon—played in an online, text-based MUD called Shattered Kingdoms, the setting of which was based on the Mage Wars trilogy (The Black Griffon, the Silver Griffon and the White Griffon) written by Mercedes Lackey.

Back in the 90s.

So I'm particularly in love with this scenery, even if there's nothing more to do here.

Farryn is about to stop the priest, reminding him about the disastrous problem with the dragon, but apparently Dranald learned his lesson and expertly binds the wounds.

The griffons react appreciatively to Dranald's ministrations, allowing you to approach their nests.

As you near, the heads of a few wide-eyed griffon chicks pop up from over the edge of the nests. This group of griffons have nine chicks in all, and with encouragement from the adults, they approach the party with curiosity, walking toward each in turn. One carries a gold necklace in its beak with a pearl pendant. The chick drops it at the Dranald’s feet with a chirp and then scurries back to the nest.

This necklace is worth 10 gp.

After the party returns to Kukuha at Kayajima Fortress, she thanks you for their efforts and informs you that her preparations are complete, allowing her to begin to ritual.

Dusk is beginning to fall on Kayajima, lighting the clearing in a sunset glow. The spires and walls of Kayajima Fortress cast long shadows across the expanse as Kukuha dons a ceremonial cap and sash and stands at the center of clearing, eyes closed. She performs a brief series of gestures with a feather fan before sinking to her knees and thrusting her talons into the earth.

A low rumble sounds, and the earth shakes. From the northeast, tendrils of golden energy ripple through the air like gusts of wind. From the southeast, waves of azure light flow across the ground, like the ocean crashing against the shore. And from the northwest, lines of verdant energy snake like roots through the earth. The energy trails dance toward Kukuha, gathering in larger and more vibrant swaths and forming a dome around her.

Suddenly, a loud droning hum emits from the statue at the wall. The etchings in the statue glow as it begins to rise with the sound of grinding stone. A massive construct stands fully upright, bathing the clearing in cobalt light as energy flows through the etchings covering its body. Its glowing eyes fix on Kukuha, crackling with power...

Dranald: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12.

Hannah begins the arduous process of circling around the colossal construct, but she can't quite get into a flank with Jasariel yet.

Farryn drops back to get some range, lobs a melty flask a the creature and then tries to recall what the heck this creature might be and if there are any useful things to know about it.

Farryn has no idea what this thing is, precisely (Unique Creature), but surmises that it is probably some kind of construct...

Hannah's swing is deflected at the last moment.

Jasariel's swing goes wide, so she tries a spell...

...which the construct ignores.

Dranald heals Hannah.

Ukh's bomb splashes over the construct without any obvious effect.

The construct smacks out at Hannah once...

Then the runes on its body glow brightly shedding awe-inspiring blue light, before unleashing a torrent of force over everyone else in the party!

Ley Line Surge: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 6, 1) = 20 Force damage. Fort save for half.

At this point in time...

A small contingent of kodama appear from nearby trees and use their magic to summon grasping roots from the earth that coil around the guardian’s legs!

Simultaneously, the adult Kayajima griffons screech as they divebomb the guardian’s eyes in a one‑two combination, causing the guardian’s eyes to
flicker erratically. The griffons then retreat, screeching in triumph as they fly into the skies!

Hannah (who *didn't* have to make a Fort save, since she wasn't 'everyone else' ;-)) delivers a solid hit to the construct, finally doing it some damage.

Jasariel is pushed back by the blast as well, and rather than striking, Heals Hannah.

Dranald, likewise, is pushed away, but focuses upon healing Hannah.

Ukh somewhat resists the blast, then delivers a solid bow, chipping away at the construct a little.

For its part, the Guardian focuses upon pounding Hannah into paste...

I don’t want to assume anything, but is it noticeable that the slashing and piercing damage done last round were resisted? With Recall Knowledge being utterly useless and it pretty apparent it is either immune or resistant to most of our elemental attacks, I’m just trying to figure out what exactly Farryn can still do.
