With Pell scouting, Anjo keeps looking for tracks.
Track in exploration mode.

While searching the room, Amjo notices the rug near one corner is more worn than the rest. A quick check shows what must be a secret compartment in the wall behind an old bookcase...

![]() |

Anjo informs the others and let's those more skilled in secret compartments investigate it.

![]() |

Milady can creep up, shaking slightly, for fear of her legs... and she scopes the bookcase out, checking for booby traps--
Perception (Expert) +6

Smiling, Milady opens the easy door: "No claws coming out of doors, doors have no floors!"
(thanks for moving mini, was traveling and on phone)

![]() |

Milday opens the secret compartment with ease. Within there is an ornate book, and a glowing bottle.

![]() |

"Some... potion, and a book."
Milady steps aside.

![]() |

"Although I do not have mastery of the language, I have studied the character sets of many languages. If I may?"
The elven wizard steps forward to examine the book and attempt to decipher the writing.

Hopper walks timidly into the room when he hears the comment about the reading he adds with his screechy voice. Apparently his voice have a whole set of annoying sounds to make.
"Goblins cant read, what nonsense. Most of us didn't have time for formal education, and the one that did see no great values in sitting over scrolls or big books. When you live short and dynamic life you don't have time for half of the nonsense like longshanks does..."
As he spots a potion Hopper hops forwards and take it from Milady
"Let me, let me, give me some space and a couple of minutes. Lizzy set up the lab"
With that, he drops his backpack on the ground and opens it. At the same time Lizzy walks down his arm and busts into the backpack pushing out things that are needed to identify the potion.
Hopper with his small green hands quickly sets up 'passed' tools and begins working on the potion

MIlady shrugs: "I only read Common and Goblin, and do not believe that words will leave my head."
She then sees if she do like Zanderel was doing...

Zanderel is pretty sure it is written in infernal. Even if he can't tell what it says. He does not a LOT of annotations in the book, as if the person reading it was taking copies notes or doing a commentary on it.
Mildary meanwhile puts the potion through a series of tests..
Lesser healing potion

Lesser healing potion
Hopper looks with disbelief through a window into the eyes of a mighty god. His eyes show unbelief that one with such power does not recognize Hopper from Milady. He always knew that gods were just petty beings not worth a moment of his time.
"This is a healing potion. Milady, hold it, when the shi**t will hit the vigourously used hand fan, you might need it."
After a moment he adds
"Yes, I came up with that saying. One day everyone will use it."
@Gm Aerondor no worries all Goblins look the same.

![]() |

All goblins look alike....
Hopper sighs as Milady tries to take the credit for all his hard work :-)
There are a couple of doors/entrances out of the room you are in at the moment...

![]() |

Milady muses that a Goblin is a Goblin is a Goblin... but takes the healing potion.
"Thank you, Hopper! You're like a brother to Milord and I."
Milady will then move past Pure Pell the Peerless, and peek into the entrance as she enters whatever is beyond this room...

![]() |

Ivy has overgrown the empty window frame, casting the room beyond into cool shadow. A low shelf, its wood warped and cracked, stands against the south wall, and a desk has been overturned and smashed in the eastern part of the room.

Well, it could be the wind... or it could be moving on its own. Hard to tell from out in the other room...

You hear a faint, desperate whispering sound...

Milady hushes upon seeing Arrus' warning, and she pricks up her big ears...

Zanderel stows the book in his pack, and resumes his scanning for magical auras.

Hopper's face turns even more green than before. And his voice is quieter like he would be timidly
"Well, thank you."
As he begins to clean up after his laboratory and pack it all back into his backpack.
After he is done with it, he looks with wierd expression, as the quiet sign was completely lost on him. Yet he follows the other lead and says nothing.
Again he pulls out a bottle with dark liquid in it.

Well, it is hard to be sure, but Milady thinks the ivy is moving in the wind.
Lets have a will save for Arrus please

"THE IVY! It's gonna CLAW you!"

![]() |

"THE IVY! It's gonna CLAW you!"
"Doubtful." notes Pell. "This areas is a bit creepy, sure, but I don't see anything here that could harm someone. It all looks pretty safe."
Noticing that the ranger has been giving the place a good look over, Pell adds, "Right, Arrus?"

![]() |

Make an attack (a single one) against Milady.

![]() |

Argus turns and fires! Narrowly missing Milady with his crossbow.
@Arrus...any other action you want to take?

![]() |

Arrus shoots at Milady? Or at the ivy and misses the ivy thus it whizzing by Milady?

![]() |

If I understand correctly Ivy was on one side and Milady on the other. So Arrus turned toward Milady and shot at Goblin (not a chance to even shot at the direction of the Ivy). Given the roll - 2 you could take it as accidental pulling the trigger. Or as an obvious example of hatred towards Goblins ;)
Hopper jumps up as he sees a bolt flying above Milady and Pell's heads.
"Hey watch over with this weapon, you could have hurt someone!"
He looks with concern and steps aside as Arrus rushes out of the room.
"What is wrong with you Arrus?"

![]() |

Puzzled, Zanderel tries to recall anything about the ivy before them.

"Are you... a ghost?! Or some demon, yourself, Arrus?!"

Anjo shakes his head as beads of sweat begin to form.
"I can only guess some madness has afflicted him, perhaps linked to what ever haunts this house."

There is nothing obvious in the room, apart from the ivy and the now-not-so-subtle whispering. Perhaps if you listened closer to it you might learn something...

Zanderel shrugs and tries to take a closer listen...

She moves on out.
"Shall we leave and put a NO ENTER sign up?"

Zanderel turns, eyes flashing at something. Swinging wildly his staff ...

narrowly misses Pell.

![]() |

"Stop this madness, people... I owe money to no one, so need to swing or shoot at me. What is going on?! Is this the doing of the ivy?"

![]() |

"I heard a name!" the wizard shouts, coming to his senses. "Mephistopheles!"
He looks uncomfortable, but resolute. "I am sorry that I let the entity control me, Pell. It was an experiment, and we at least learned something."

![]() |

Pell's instinct is to strike back again his attacker, but as the wizard comes to his senses, Pell realizes that Zanderel was not in control of his actions. When the wizard explains about the effect of the whispering voice, Pell notes, "Mystical murderous whispers could explain why there are rumors of the place being haunted. They even gave us a name to research. Along with the book, I'm thinking that that surely must be enough to satisfy Gorm, don't you think? Though, it can't hurt to peek into the next room, just so we can assure him that we did a full look over."
Clearly eager to leave the place soon, Pell neverthless glances through the doorway into the next room.
