Hey, quick question.

I know we're "technically" doing SW...A...QWERTY....the new one, but, D-HOE seems to be pretty particular about the Streetwise skill. But since that doesn't exist now, we're just saying that anything that mentions "streetwise" now actually says "Persuasion". Is that it?

(Specifically I'm thinking of the whole Selling Goods thing on page 41.)

(*brumble grumble*streetwise was a smarts skill stupid spirit-based builds*grumble*)

It is how the game system rolled it up into. Don't worry too much, their will be plenty of scrounging too.

Hello! I need to update my alias with my build but I'm here.

Dark Archive

Estelle! Whatsup?!? Man, now I wish Tom was free. I'd like to promise that this campaign will have a lot less radiation and cannibalism than our last one, but, well....

Hey, I've got kind of an odd question, but it's one of those things that you'd think that the book would've clarified it, because it seems critical, but the book didn't, so maybe it's not.

So, here's the SUPER IMPORTANT question:

spoilered for length:

So, the book cares soooo much about the difference between Corrupters and Caretakers that it makes you make the choice. Okay, one spreads toxic sludge, the other elimiates it. Got it.

Ya, okay, but -how much how fast-??? That seems like a sticking point. Okay, let's assume the conversation between Lord Borak and Some Villagers.

LB: Hey my dudes, how's life?
SV: Sucks.
LB: No!
SV: Yes. We can only do subsistence farming because although there is 100 acres of good farmland right there, it is a toxic sludge nightmare born out of violence and hatred of all good things.
LB: No!
SV: Yes. If there was some way to turn that around into a lush green wonderland, we would be very happy. And very very loyal to whoever could bring that about.
LB: I have an idea.
SV: What is that idea?
LB: The idea is that me, a Toxic Shamen Caretaker, will stay here and summon my allies who eat toxic sludge. And I will stay here until all 100 acres is a lush, green paradise for you and all future generations. In fact, I'm sure that it will take me.....

Okay, so, how does that conversation end? Is it some kind of Strategic Advantage that, if the party really really wants to, they could re-claim land at a noticeable rate and use that power as leeway over random villagers? (I'm thinking something around 10 acres a day. 100 acres is not too much land, and 10 days is a long time for a party to stay in one area.)

Or is it something that the game just never did think would come into play and left it purposefully vague because no matter how hard the characters tries, it couldn't accomplish anything noticeable within an acceptable timeframe. (Here we'd be looking at 1 acre a year, or somesuch, which, while not zero, is so small as to be beyond measurement.)

Again, no big deal, it's just been sticking in my head that this might be a good thing to have decided beforehand.

System was better defined in the original books. Was 1 strain per 10 cubic feet at a TN of 9 and 1 minute per cubic foot. So, changing that into SW 1 pp per 10 cubic, 1 cubic per minute. I will allow that to be a stock power, and the reverse is a stock power for corruptors. So, working day and night by yourself you could clear about and acre a month given the best situation possible.

I'm still here, I'll make up an alias and post with it soon.

HS - just 'cause I like math, and I'm curious about everything, how deep into the ground are you assuming the "toxicity" goes in Borak's question? Because if it's only 1" deep, I figure it would take 3 days per acre based on the PP limitation.

And then there were three.

Zen, I am being generous with a one foot depth. Honestly, depending on the type of pollution of course, one foot deep would be barely scratching the surface if it is a chemical soaked into ground water or the scrubbing required of a 10 mile zone from a nuclear meltdown. Plus, he would need time to sleep and eat that couldn't be spent working at it. I really wish savage worlds had printed a power since a straight port of cleanse/corrupt doesnt quite do the job, but we work with what we have.

Greetings fellow Wastelanders. The name is Gavin, care for a friendly game of cards?

A toxic shaman, a harrowed shaman, a syker and a librarian walk into a bar. Now we are waiting on a gunslinger and possibly an ex anti-templar. I will post the main campaign and starting hook tomorrow. Feel free to post any other questions or concerns.

Do we need more people? I can always get more people.

Also, the thing that I like most about being able to do 1 cubic foot per minute is that I can give someone a respectable vegetable garden by lunchtime.

No, as long as Branding shows up with the gunslinger you should be fine for players.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Here's Flying Eagle. Please note, the very first version I posted was Harrowed (I created him for another game, and everyone was Harrowed), but now he isn't.

HS - do you have any preferences/requirements for what we put in the "stats" line below our PC's name in a post?

Also, as it turns out, about a foot deep would take about a month!

Seems good, hadn't caught the change from harrowed. No preference for stat lines as I find it easier to just pull a character open and check them over.

Scarab Sages

I'm here, just didn't see this thread when it started. I'll still be playing the curmudgeonly gunfighter Thresu who hates to use his guns. I'll come up with a new profile for him.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

HS, could you please post (or send me in a PM, if you don't want the entire internet seeing it) the complete description of Sloth/Speed from SWADE? It's a new power, and I don't know how it works.

Sloth/Speed
Rank: Seasoned
Power Points: 2
Range: Smarts
Duration: Instant (sloth); 5 (speed)
Trappings: Slowing time, blurred motion, a
slippery patch of oil or ice.
Sloth lessens celerity and coordination while
speed increases it. It halves the target’s total
movement each round (round up). With a
raise, movement is also an action. The target
automatically attempts to shake off the effects
of sloth at the end of each of his next turns by
making a Spirit roll.
Success with speed doubles the target’s
movement (basic Pace and running). With
a raise the character also ignores the −2
running penalty.
MODIFIERS
„ ADDITIONAL RECIPIENTS (+1): Speed only.
The power may affect more than one target
for 1 additional Power Point each.
„ AREA OF EFFECT (+2/+3): Sloth only. For
+2 points the power affects everyone in a
Medium Blast Template. For +3 points the
area of effect is increased to a Large Blast
Template.
„ QUICKNESS (+2): Speed only. The character’s
total Multi-Action penalty each turn is
reduced by 2 (she can do two actions at no
penalty or three at −2 each).
„ STRONG (+1): Sloth only. The Spirit roll to
shake off sloth’s effects is made at −2.

No worries, nothing major missed. The gang is all here.

Ack! Sorry, I swore I'd posted or at least dotted. Posting now!

Male

Sorry for my delay in posting. Been sick in bed with the flu this week :(

Giving a bit for anyone who wants to respond to the situation and then will push into the combat round.

Male

Yeah, since we're in combat, we should be going into initiative.

Male

I'd be fine if you did initiative in RL with cards or on the Discord chat dice rolling app, and then just tell us the results. Saves you a bit of coding.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

I'm also fine with your dealing cards at-home and posting the results.

Just make sure you keep the two jokers in the deck! ;)

As long as people are fine with it, I can pull out my deadlands deck and pull cards for these things.

Do we need another active poster to spice things up? Does it seem like we need another spark to start this fire?

I buddy of mine just joined and he's more active than -I- am, if we need it.

Jus' sayin'. =)

Always glad to have one more. I am waiting to see what everyone decides to do now that you have two hooks to play with. Go after the chief, or go after the overlord. Or, everyone could say they don't need that hassle and head off for another state. Going to give everyone till Sunday night and then I will push on with whatever the majority decides.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Borak - I think you just got used to the typical start-of-the-game fast posting. :) We've had at least one post a *day* from someone since Friday a week ago, until yesterday.... But if the DM's ok with another player, that's great!

HS - altho no one's said specifically in-game, I think we've all decided to go after the mutant chief that Nian mentioned, seeing as we've been haggling about what he's going to pay us....

Point taken.

Just a heads up, I will be posting tonight. RL decided to toss a curve ball at me this week and I am playing catchup.

Male

FYI, I will be out of internet range from next Friday 8/23 through Monday 8/26 in the GMT+10 Time Zone. For those of you in the US, that roughly means I will log off early evening 8/22 and will return late evening 8/25. Please bot me as needed.

No worries Thresu. Thanks for the heads up.

Going to give Estelle till tomorrow, then I am gonna push the turn.

Male

I'm confused; are these the same ruffians we encountered before? I thought this was a new group? I ask because of Lord Borak's "you've seen us before" line.

Dark Archive

Notice: d6, Parry: 7, Faith!: d10 | [RATN: 6]| Toughness: 6(1) PP: 10/15 | Bennies: 2/3 |wounds 0/3

Hm? Sorry, I thought I said "Seen me before" as in, how I ask for surrender before I kill someone.

I have no idea who the new people are, except that I assume they are hostile.
Because I assume everyone is hostile until proven otherwise.

Were you to ask him, he'd probably say "To have peace the best action is to prepare for war."

=)

Got back ok, been going through the forum campaigns and I am going to be another day on this one. GMing takes a bit more than being a player. Many apologies.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Regarding maps : I subscribe to Roll20, and have used it to make maps before, but a long time ago. I vaguely remember that it was pretty easy to import a pre-made map (I Google'd various keywords to get the maps I wanted), and to import the PC's images, but everyone needs to be on Roll20. Or, if you have a Google docs account, you can create a map in there that everyone can access (but I don't know how easy it is to do).

As far as creating the map image yourself, I have no idea, because I always used maps others had made and had posted on-line.

Although I have no great craft in mapmaking, someone who is always quick with an accurate, even intricate map, is DM Red.

He's a friendly enough sort. Go ahead and PM him and I'm sure he'll have a helpful word.

And tell him Atlas2112 referred you. He both knows and admires my work.

I am sorry to do this folks, but it looks like I am not going to be able to continue as your gm.

We recently had a tragic death befall the family, on top of an already expected loss. Add to that the youngest having to go back in for a surgery in a few weeks and I will not have the time I need to devote. The time your posse would deserve.

Thank you all for the time we have spent together, if you folks wish I can try to find another gm to take over on the forum.
