Ugh... caught the plague. Doc calls it a flue, but I know better. It's a funny feeling, several days of slight fever in a row... like my brain was wrapped in wool.

Matheus Winterglade |

Point was not to hit you. I guess I should have made that more obvious.

Sorry to hear - remember to eat lots of limes ... oh, sorry, that's scurvy. Plague is sacrifice a goat??? and lots of soup.
also,
Angie, I build Ner's shortsword incorrectly. You can't add a special ability without at least a +1mod. first. His 'Keen' shortsword is now a simple +1 shortsword. I am amending now. Bummer, I love the keen trait for halfling weapons.

Matheus Winterglade |

Matheus has a CLW wand, he can zap you a couple of times so you can save the potion for a time Matheus isn't conscious/alive to heal you.

Let's do that!
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Exactly four charges!

Petronia Fangborne |

I typically don't look at the spoilers so I missed that and forgot she'd been hit during the fight. Otherwise I'd have probably had her drink her healing potion before this big fight...oh well.

Matheus Winterglade |

Petronia has Barskin from a few posts back, so +2 Natural Armor (5th level is a bit bummer as far as that spell is concerned).

Angie H |

thanks for the reminder, I forgot about barkskin.
I was just rereading Silence to see if it went through the walls or not (it doesn't say, so I'll rule that it doesn't), and I discovered that you get a Will save vs Silence!!! Crazy!
So, DC 15 to save vs Silence. I'll give you all, but especially Matheus a chance to roll before I move forward.
Also, yes, it's a pretty cold, windy day.

Matheus Winterglade |

Will save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Barely enough, but...
No time to properly alter the post, so let's just back away a square or two and cast the Call Lightning - will take too long to figure out a summons.

Matheus Winterglade |

Oh... just remembered. I think the save only applies if you want to target the spell on a person so it moves with him. If you drop it on the ground or cast it on a rock it won't grant saves to those unfortunate who stay in the area of effect.

This final battle will pretty much wrap up part one of Shades of Ice. Time to start thinking about what's next.
Options:
1) We stop here.
2) We do Part 2 with the current party.
3) We do Part 2 with some/total adjustment to the party.
4) Jussi is ready to run his game, and we do that instead.
5) Somebody else wants to run something instead.
6) Secret hidden option I haven't considered.
Thoughts?

Ner 'The Rat' |

I would be happy to continue with part 2 with this character but would also switch characters if Shari wanted to switch. I have a Paladin - chosen one with a little white thrush familiar, or a Battle Priest - sacred fist who is half iron fist/half air bender I could prep.

Matheus Winterglade |

I love playing Petronia so I would choose option 2 or 4 - provided Jussi would invite me to play in his game :)
Oh, *that* much you can take for guaranteed ;^)
Let's see... I wound kinda sorta want to try running my game, but... there is, again, the issue of time, now for reasons Angie knows. Lately, things have been better on that front, but I'd expect to know better early January. If I do get persuaded to run the game, plenty of players who aren't afraid of a little bit dark and gritty Eberron are certainly welcome - the more the merrier.
Failing that, I wouldn't mind continuing playing Matheus. Particularly if the latter modules take the party into the icy wilderness, a druid could truly shine.

Angie H |

Great! It's settled! Jussi will run his game. If it's just a matter of being "persuaded", then the campaign of persuasion starts here. We can save part 2 of Shades of Ice for a rainy day.
I was recently in touch with Tom, from our old play by email days, and he'd be interested in playing too, and apparently Gary would as well.

Matheus Winterglade |

I'm game, thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Matheus Winterglade |

If we need replacements, didn't Harakani indicate his RL worries were mostly behind him, hinting he'd have time for more gaming...

Angie H |

Welcome back! I've inquired with 2 other people (Dusk and Squeak for those who know them) if they're interested in joining the game. Either way, we'll get going shortly. I'm going to post a recap in the gameplay page today, so we can all recall what we're up against.
Glad to be kicking this one off again!

Kirsdrake |

Right... where shall we start things from? Are we still back in that alley, with the battle only just finished? Matheus certainly will argue against killing anyone we took alive, much preferring to turn them to the guards for the massacre at the armory - since Runa was willing to talk, shouldn't be too hard to convince the guards who's guilty and who are the reckless heroes here ;^)

Angie H |

No need to pick up right from where you left off. I just wanted to know what you did with the prisoners. We'll assume you got any necessary info from Runa, then handed them over. The Stadsvakt certainly believed you, and you're free to go.
In fact, they forgave Matheus of the fine he owed for destroying the street, and you all got a reward of 2000gp.
Rafarta (the Stadsvakt guard that you met), let you know that there's a caravan of merchants and hunters on a diplomatic mission to Irrisen in the next few days. If you'd like to disguise yourself as merchants or guards, it would be a good way to get into the country. If you identify yourself as Pathfinders, you'll likely be arrested or even attacked.
So let's pick up action back in your hotel room, the evening of the attack. We'll assume you bring Oksana, who has also taken a room there. We can start with the discussion of your plans - if you want to take Rafarta up on her suggestion, or find another way into the country.
Also, do any shopping you want to do before you leave. We don't need to RP it out, it's a big enough city that you can find what you need here.

Angie H |

Ah yes - loot.
Here's what you ended up with after the battle in the training yard.
Hjort: studded leather armour, potion of cure light wounds, MW handaxe, 2,500gp
Runa: potion of CMW, potion of endure elements, MW studded leather, MD light wooden shield, 2 javelins, MW light mace
Lazar: was killed out in the street by wolves, and the people take whatever gear he has before you get to the body.
Gyuri: 20 shuriken.

Koyuki |

Hello all, Dusk here for those that knew her!
*waves*
Angie has kindly invited me to join the game (thanks!)
Just finishing off Koyuki's crunch (been a while since I've done chargen in PF 1e!). She's an archer inquisitor (nature powered rather than religion though).
Look forward to playing with you all :)

Koyuki |

Moar nature powah!
You made me think of Camina Drummer from The Expanse (BeltaLowda!) ^.^
Hey Koyuki! Great to meet you - looking forward to the cover fire ;]
Yes will try to stick to 'cover' rather than 'friendly' ;P

Wonderful series, that, and a great TV adaptation. You read the books, watched the show or both?
I'm normally a stickler for reading first before watching a show, or maybe that's because I've usually already read a series before it gets adapted? But in this case I hadn't read the books first, the show was my first introduction to the story. Hands down the best sci-fi i'd seen since the first couple of seasons of Galactica!
Anyway was happy when Amazon swooped in to green light a new season, looking forward to it!
How about you? Books or show first?

Matheus Winterglade |

Books first, and even with Amazon continuing it, I'd recommend considering the books - the current TV series gets the plot about 1/3 through the 3rd book... and Tiamat's Wrath is already the 8th book, with no end in sight. I doubt Amazon will ever take the series THAT far, since it'd mean about 15 seasons just to get even where the books are now ;^)
