Bella would icked out by not just her Mom...but a guy?!?! Gross!
Bella seemed confused by Edie's outburst....did she miss something? She shrugs and cuts in.
"Mother I think it would be safer if Mahurra comes and stays with me till this...orc problem is dealt with. Besides as Sisters we should get to know each other."
Bella thinks about her future conversation...Hey honey you know how we talked about better sound proofing the bedroom and the Dungeon...well I think we will need to step up those plans.
GM Nine-Tuiles |
In Laria’s Home
”He was a strong elf, gifted thoroughly by the Sun,” says Laria as she begins plating the meal and setting it upon the table—seared chicken in an herbal dressing. For what it’s worth, it smells quite good; Keeyan may very well eat three full, delicious meals today.
”Elarian’s hair left him before he left me, but I knew that would happen. We were half a century apart, and baldness runs in the family, you see.” She pauses, then: ”The men, of course. Bella has nothing to worry about.”
When Bella “offers” to take Mahurra, she spins on the spot to face her from across the room.
”Ah, yes, a marvelous idea. You can take her from me and leave me with nothing. If I’m lucky, perhaps she will visit me two decades from now and take what little I have scraped together for myself, just like her big sister!”
Her tone is very chipper.
Grongar Party
Grongar promises to keep the trebuchets from firing until at least tomorrow night. You give him some parting words and head back to the tunnel. You’ll arrive after a couple more posts; I’ll let you know.
GM Nine-Tuiles |
Laria appears livid. ”You will NOT take away all that I have,” she hisses. ”We will slay every last Orc that comes for her, and if you are so intent on taking her from me...”
Bella Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Edie Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 6
”...then you may as well be an Orc too!”
Bella, you are about to be harmed. Would you like to take an action?
GM Nine-Tuiles |
Laria's nostrils flare in rage. "Mahurra, go play with your Uncle Steve," she hisses.
Worth noting: "Uncle" here is an honorary title. There is no blood relation.
Mahurra is silent, but nods and runs toward the door.
She opens it just as Keeyan and Klyto are reaching it.
And now, we roll for initiative.
Edie Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Keeyan Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Klyto Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Laria Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Laria's flesh roils with swirling light, and with a flash, her light fills the dimly-lit room; she grows slightly hard to look at.
"FOOLISH daughter, CURSED daughter, we are all gifted by the Sun but SOME OF US MUST PERISH IN HER LIGHT"
Round 1
Laria (glowy magic)
Bella
Keeyan
Klyto
Edie
Mahurra
The party is up!
No map for this one. It's a small enough space that you can move wherever you need to get to in one move action.
Edith 'Edie' Squire |
Edie has Lost Her S~&%, Too. It's Only Fair.
Edie WAS going to try and calm this down, but when the shouting starts it just *hits her* just *so*. Her claws and forearms grow greenish and her scales take on a bit of the same hue as a bit of spittle dribbles from her mouth.
She does not, however, advertise her presence by yelling at Laria *yet*.
Swift Action enter Bloodrage
Instead, she does what could be considered a foolhardy thing but given her anger at the parental betrayal she launches at Laria to attempt to hug her close.
Grapple (Not Improved): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
"WHY YOU DO THIS? NOT RIGHT!"
Keeyan Rayahn |
Keeyan can hardly believe what he sees as he and Klyto return, "Seriously? We're trying to avoid a fight!"
spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 to identify the spell
Keeyan Rayahn |
Not recognizing the spell, but seeing the fight starting Keeyan casts a Bless on the party.
GM Nine-Tuiles |
The action Edie springs into is decidedly more flashy than the rest, who are either busy protecting themselves or Mahurra.
Thankfully for her, Laria has not bothered to arm herself!
1 is Bad: 1d5 ⇒ 2
Though it’s hard to look at the sun elf, Edie manages to get a firm grasp of her.
Mahurra doesn’t seem to have any interest in staying—or answering the question. She slips by the boys and escapes out to the village.
Escape Grapple: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Laria manages to wrench herself free of Edie’s grasp, and retreats to the kitchen counter... where she reaches for a knife.
Party’s turn! Laria is still glowing, Bless is now active.
Klyto Ememar |
A long hammer appears in Klyto's hands. He steps forward and bats the knife away.
CMB, Bless: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 13
By the gods woman, this seems like an overreaction over a girl you claim can't be your daughter. It's as clear to see as the sun in the sky that she has orc blood, something you said you would never be involved with.
Keeyan Rayahn |
Pulling on his divine powers, Keeyan moves to the kitchen to block Laria's way back with the knife. "Please stop! Talk! If you allow just a few moments for calm discussion there doesn't need to be anymore bloodshed!"
Trying diplomacy to calm her down.... Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 4 But failing that, ??
Using Agile Feet as a free action to bypass the obstacles in the way to the kitchen, and ready to use Adoration as an immediate action if she does attack me. Agile Feet lets me move through difficult terrain without any difficulty. Adoration works similar to Sanctuary against one opponent requiring a Will save for her to attack me. DC should be similar to a cast save, so.... Will 13.
Edith 'Edie' Squire |
Edie don' care.
The tiefling roars in frustration at the glowing blind-as-f*** elf and attempts to grab her once more!
CMD (Grapple, Not Improved, Provokes?), Bless: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9 It's unlikely that she was successful in her blind rage -- if anything, the fact that she's not going for rend/tear should be an indication of the limited restraint she's employing to the rest of the team.
GM Nine-Tuiles |
As Edie tries to wrap her arms around Laria, the elf sees a—well, she sees a vague shape, to be honest, but even that vague shape is leaving itself quite open...
Laria holds up an arm to keep Edie away and thrusts the knife forward with the other, but she doesn’t find a gap in her armor—in fact, the blade makes a more-or-less direct hit with one of the plates. By the time she finds Edie’s arm, she’s lost all momentum and the Tiefling comes away with just a scratch.
No damage, just flavor!
Bella’s up. Laria will respond to Keeyan’s diplomacy on her turn!
GM Nine-Tuiles |
Laria’s head snaps in Bella’s direction, although it’s hard to tell exactly with her body glowing.
”You will leave,” she demands, ”and never return. Find whatever shadow that drowish b~&$@ crawled out of and wither away there.”
”I have already lost enough. You will not take Mahurra.”
Keeyan and Bella have seen enough casting to be able to tell that she is holding a spell at the ready.
Klyto Ememar |
Well which is it? Is Mahurra yours, born from your womb, or not? Maybe you were just so desperate to replace Belladonna that you stole her away from her real mother. Because Grongar told us what he did with her mother and there could be no mistaking him for anything but an orc. By your own words you would never lay with an orc, so what really happened to Merilwen?
As he further provokes the already irate elf, shadows pool under Klyto while he prepares to defend himself and his new friends.
Ready Attack, Shadow Speaker: 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 3 = 10

Keeyan doesn't back away. With everyone else ready for.... something he just stands ready. "Nobody here wants to hurt you. We just want to understand and try to stop the killing!"
If she attacks me I have an "escape" plan ready. Might not work if she attacks with magic, but. ??
Belladonna Silvertree |

"There can be no shadow without light, Mother." she pauses,"You think I am here to hurt you? I am just here to protect my sister."
Has Starwing caught up to Mahurra and manage to distract her a little? That was my intent...I might not have made it clear before.
GM Nine-Tuiles |
Well which is it? Is Mahurra yours, born from your womb, or not? Maybe you were just so desperate to replace Belladonna that you stole her away from her real mother. Because Grongar told us what he did with her mother and there could be no mistaking him for anything but an orc. By your own words you would never lay with an orc, so what really happened to Merilwen?
Laria does not respond to this verbally.
Instead, she raises a hand toward Klyto.
Keeyan and Edie, you have an AoO available, presuming you are considered armed. I think Edie's in "claws out" mode, but not 100% on Keeyan's status. Klyto is within bap range, so he can take an AoO AND his readied action goes off (although the latter misses, he gets his intent across fairly well).
The glow around Laria's hand fizzles, and she roars in anger.
"Lies and nonsense! Mahurra is of my womb!"
Sense Motive DC14
"If you wish to protect her, than do something about those orcs!"
GM Nine-Tuiles |
Has Starwing caught up to Mahurra and manage to distract her a little? That was my intent...I might not have made it clear before.
Mahurra was on her way to get distracted by Uncle Steve, so now her, him, and Starwing are all chillin' together. Something adorable is happening over there, but alas, none of you are there to witness it!
Klyto Ememar |
Unveiling to take chances against an unknown spell Klyto

Moving the tracker here so it's handy:
Laria (glowy magic) (-14)
Bella
Keeyan (AoO?)
Klyto
Edie (AoO)
Waiting on AoO's, then we'll see where we're at.
Edith 'Edie' Squire |
Edie is trying to not kill Bella's mom! Or is she Bella's mom now?
CMD (Grapple, Not Improved, Provokes?), Bless: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 = 15
"STOP! JUST STOP! Edie bellows as she attempts to grab Laria again.
Keeyan Rayahn |
Keeyan did not have a weapon ready, other than his currently empty ale mug. (Holy Symbol)
"We are TRYING to do something about the orcs! But you are blocking us from knowing what REALLY needs to be done! Talk to us without thinking that we are trying to hurt you!"
Not even trying to sense motive at the moment....
GM Nine-Tuiles |
1d5 ⇒ 4
Laria sees Edie coming at her again and interjects her knife once more; she isn't able to score more than a glancing blow off the armor this time, and Edie's claws clamp over her wrist in the process. Grapple success!
"Let GO of me!" she howls, trying to wrench herself away.
"What more do you need to know!? There are ORCS trying to take my child, YOUR SISTER!" she hisses, face snapping in Bella's direction.
"Kill them, tell them there's a Copperback concert in the next town over, wave Grongar's head on a plate! I don't CARE how you do it!"
Laria (glowy magic) (-14, Grappled)
Bella
Keeyan
Klyto
Edie (Grappling)
Party's up!
Klyto Ememar |
Grongar? The same Grongar you... and... and even... with? That Grongar? You want his head on a plate? And a Copperback concert? Are you trying to piss them off?
We already got them to hold off. The guy just wants to see his daughter and you turned it into a whole big thing.
Keeyan Rayahn |
Keeyan steps away from the melee bt can't stop himself from adding.... "I used to think elves were civilized! But those Orcs are behaving in a much more civilized manner than you! Head on a platter!?!"
Edith 'Edie' Squire |
Edie attempts to end the issue in a non-violent fashion, but may have inadvertently allowed Laria a chance to escape in so trying...
CMD (Grapple Progress to Pin?, Not Improved), Bless: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10 Does not provoke because target is Grappled, target takes -4 to Dexterity while condition persists
GM Nine-Tuiles |
Laria manages to wrench herself free of Edie, and as Bella reaches out to grab her, she twists away; her blindness has not ruined her ability to resist, it seems.
With little option left, she sprints-- straight ahead, past the group...
...unless they're quick with their weapons, anyway.
Everyone who is currently armed and threatening Laria, feel free to make an AoO. Also include a 1d5 roll; 1 means your attack is a miss. Once everyone's done that, I'll resolve the rest of her turn.
Laria (glowy magic) (-23)

Edith 'Edie' Squire |
Edie reacts...
Claw attack (on Laria) Bless: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9
Edie attempts to grab out at Laria but the battle to restrain herself from murdering the woman makes her miss horribly.
GM Nine-Tuiles |
And with that, she’s out the door, racing with surprising agility given the condition of her eyes—but of course, this is her home, and she knows it well.
As the group race to catch her, they find that she’s just as nimble as the best of them. As Keeyan and Edie pass the doorway, they see her, arms grasping. ”Mahurra, darling! Call to Mother!”
”Right here!” says the child, though her voice is quivering; she’s not stupid—she knows something is going on.
The woman, still aglow, beelines for her daughter, and as Starwing takes to the air in surprise, Laria’s hand grips Mahurra’s shoulder.
And then, with a flash of heat and light like a summer’s day in the middle of the evening, they’re gone.
Steve stands confused a few feet over, apparently trying to figure out if Starwing’s shape belongs to Laria and Mahurra.
Edith 'Edie' Squire |
Edie is Fatigued...
The tiefling, no longer seeing her quarry in sight lets out a kind of slumping grumble as she lets the anger go. Engaging in a killfest is not the way to fix this situation, which has just gone from stupid to asinine.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Whatever the spell was, she could care less -- for all she knows Bella's dumbass cultist parent may have immolated herself and her kid. However, if it was some sort of magic it might have to do with a favored memory or something from inside Laria's hovel... and those dishes should probably be done just to be a good guest.

GM Nine-Tuiles |
Astral Caravan (Su): As a full-round action, you can step into the planar border where the Astral Plane abuts the Material Plane, pulling up to one additional person per class level with you. You can’t travel fully into the Astral Plane or any of the other planes it borders, but while using this ability you can cover incredible distances, traversing 50 miles per hour, as per the shadow walk spell. You can travel for up to 1 hour per day per oracle level. This duration need not be continuous, but it must be spent in 1-hour increments.
...but she was able to do it very quickly.
Keeyan Rayahn |
Keeyan glances at Belladonna, "Your mother can travel through the Astral plane?"
He tries to explain what he thinks he saw, unsure since it seems to be significantly above his training.
"So now what do we do? Sneak back to the orcs?"
Klyto Ememar |
Or hang around. The orcs aren't expecting us yet. I doubt she's ditching the compound permanently.
