Daisley talks to a few clerks before finding a middle aged human woman who was there that day.
"Why, err yes mam. The name is Sylvia and I was keeping track of one of Zarta's cataloging missions while the Pathfinder lady with red hair and Elf ears was checking out the ancient Osiriani clothing. She was holding the Nemes up to the light and examining the inside. I'm not sure how it transpired but when I looked up it was on her head and then there was a poof and a small pile of sand left behind. May Pharasma guide her soul."
She waves a quick symbol to ward off bad luck as she finishes.

That effect sounds more like teleportation magic than disintegration.

...You could also decide that Nigel is correct...
Under no circumstances. :P

![]() |

"That must have been very distressing to see. Thank you so much for telling me about it. I don't suppose you saw the Yamada Osa painting too?"
Daisley repeats the woman's story to someone with Spellcraft.

Gorf hangs around with Daisley, mostly listening and thinking about how ill-suited he is for this mission, though he does keep an eye out for any clues that his friends might have missed when checking the area.

Pirate GM |

Figured you were all around to hear the story.
Sylvia shakes her head "No, I mostly work with the Osirian exhibits. You'd have to ask the staff involved with the Shining Crusade exhibit."
Gorf doesn't find anything else of note near the missing Nemes location. It's been cleaned, but no more so than the rest of the museum. They clearly have no concept of crime-scene around here.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
Celie shakes her head as the man talks about disintegration. "Sounds more like teleportation. An old friend was once disintegration... He complained about it for weeks on end.

![]() |

Daisley doubles back to the Shining Crusade exhibit to ask a staff member there about the portrait. "Excuse me. Did you see the Yamada Osa painting that got destroyed? Did you see how it happened?"
Diplomacy, if needed: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
Celie thinks about that for a minute. "That all depends on if they are still in the same plane. Sometimes it's more difficult to contact someone who is on a different plane and sometimes anti spells are set up that block communication."

![]() |

If we were there, do we have any chance of remembering?

Pirate GM |

Those of you who played at least 1 Solstice Scar that contained part A the museum...
As part of the Shining Crusade exhibit there were several stuffed owlbears and banners that animated. At least some of them were dispatched via elemental explosions of various types. You have no particular recollection of a Tian Xia village painting being destroyed an acid ray but there was a lot going on. (And the evidence points to the painting being removed and then the acid being splashed later.)

![]() |

"This seems to be a trend. How do we we feel thus far? We have solid evidence to refute most of dear Nigel's claims."
If we feel okay, we've got just the sword, yes?

![]() |

Two more: the sword and the golem. I'm good doing the sword next.

Pirate GM |

Moving on to the sword.
Asking about the sword you learn that it's been missing for over a little over a year. You are able to view some archival sketches though.

A striking man with long blonde hair steps into the area of the museum where the Shining Crusade exhibit is. He approaches the Pathfinders, and subtle glow gives away the aasimar heritage. He wears ornate robes that hint at more scholarly pursuits.
A rocky formation follows him, rolling obediently along behind the man. The creature's earthy, elemental nature is obvious as bits of soil, stone, and small emeralds protrude from it.
He looks over the assembled Pathfinders and points at Baron Gavin de Roche. "Forgive me, good Baron. The Venture-Captain has asked me to deliver this note. He's asked me to... well, it's in the note."

![]() |

Gavin reaches out and takes the note from the aasimar messenger. He quickly scans it before saying, "My father? Really? When did he become a Pathfinder? And why..."
He shakes his head ruefully before looking up and saying. "Thank you." To the group he adds, "I'm sorry, I got to go. Family emergency, of a sort."
The baron whistles to his faithful dog, then hustles out of the museum.

![]() |

The arcanist bows. "Hello, my fellow Pathfinders. I am Chambren. And beside me is my familiar, Morton." He glances at the burly, departing barbarian. "My skills differ from the good Baron, but I expect my learned mind can be of some use to the team."
He steps forward to look over the sketches.
Appraise: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
"I have a few brief notes, and I can tell you that the sketches show a sword from the right era. But the craftsmanship appears to be Taldan rather than Mendevian. I gather that we expected it to be Mendevian, right?"

![]() |

"So is this a sign of malfeasance? Did the Museum falsely label the sword, or has there been a ....what's the Taldane word for it? A swatcharoo? Did I say that right?"

![]() |

Can I make a craft check to see if i pick up any additional information from the drawing of the sword?
Celie stars to look at the drawing of the sword. Marbling at its edges and craftsmanship.

"I can, without a shadow of a doubt, inform ye all that these sketches are not magical. They are Taldan though. Yep... so someone is not interested to see the original sword found ever again."

![]() |

Daisley's ears prick up at the mention of her home country. "Taldan? That doesn't make any sense at all. I don't understand what's going on here, and I don't like it."

![]() |

"Wait, th'sword wunt what they thought, or th'sketches wunt what they thought? Ah'm confused."

Pirate GM |

Just in case any of that confusion is OOC... Nigel's notes say it's a Mendevian weapon that was recovered during the Siege of the Diamond City and then used by a Pathfinder before joining the museum's collection. Nigel suspects it was stolen from the museum by a Pathfinder during Oath of the Overwatched, although more information is not provided. The museum catalog contains several sketches of the missing weapon. The sketches depict a Taldane weapon.
Something is clearly off here, although exactly what is not yet apparent.

Daisley will check if any of the staff members know anythign about the sword. If not, on to the golem?

Nemis taps his temple at Daisley's idea. "Indeed, let us plumb their memories." Seeing the return expressions he adds, "The old fashioned way." Will T10 for a 19 Diplomacy (GI) and a 22 Sense Motive.

Nemis isn't able to track down any useful staff, Daisley however finds an older halfling man named Remdo with useful information
"Aye, I remember the blade. Last person to look at it was a Pathfinder agent, about a year ago. She took the blade off its pedestal, looked at it for a while, and then returned it. The blade disappeared a few weeks later. She was a tall, golden-skinned woman with curly black hair, brown eyes, and a habit of humming to herself. Never did get her name though."

Daisley checks in with her colleagues. "Does anyone know a Pathfinder who meets this description? Golden-skinned...an aasimar or an aphorite? I'm been seeing more of them around the Grand Lodge lately."

![]() |

"Do we have a runner we can send to look her up?"

![]() |

"Yes, let's investigate the golem and then we can make one trip to the Grand Lodge. We have a lot to figure out."

Pirate GM |

We've been in the Museum for about an hour so far. Between thoroughly examining object, tracking down and questioning various staff has gone surprisingly fast.
The missing wax golem seems more straight forward at least. The museum staff directs you to "the waste pile," a cordoned off area, which your guide explains "This is the result of an overeager Pathfinder hurling a fireball into an advancing wax golem. The rest was just collateral damage."
As your guide walks away he mutters under his breath "Good riddance."
They leave you to investigate the fatty, bulbous piles of goo on your own. This will likely take some time, and be at least somewhat unpleasant.
If you want to spend a half hour checking over the goo, craft (sculpture) or perception might tell you more. As always there are potential other avenues of investigation as well.

Gorf is all set to volunteer to be a runner, eager to be useful. He's a little crestfallen, then, when Daisley talks pragmatic patience. "Yeah, alraht, fine. Yer prolly raht Daisley."

Ellismus then activates his wand of identify and inspects the goo some more... careful not to interact or push against any linger... well, you know the rest! ;)

And he shakes his head. "I trust your assessment, my fellow Pathfinder. It's a difficult calculation of volume. I don't see all the potential variables."
The arcanist pauses before adding, "It seems that Nigel has come to the wrong conclusion in his research, yes? There are enough pieces of evidence to suggest tampering or foul play. Perhaps to make us look bad? I would ask who benefits, but I think the answer to that is 'many'"

![]() |

"The Blakros overestimating the damages caused to their estate by the Pathfinder Society in order to seek greater compensation or remedy would certainly be motive enough for these acts... considering they are all related to high priced art, artifacts and constructs... wouldn't you say?"

![]() |

"It could be just a matter of money. But the Taldan sword, the teleporting headdress...I think there might be something else at play. Things are just...odd."
Daisley will check if there is a staff member who knew anything about the golems, and then she is ready to go back to the Grand Lodge.

"Fellow Pathfinders, I think some of you could wag your honeyed tongue a few moments more with these scaredy-cats until they loosen their tongues..."

![]() |

"Calling it a 'honeyed tongue' demeans the virtue of conversion. It is about connecting with someone over a common parlance. Nonetheless, I will make my own inquiries about the golems. I know much about magical constructs, so perhaps I can allay their fears."
He then makes his way over to some other museum staff, hoping to learn something where Daisley could not.

Chambren is more persuasive with the museum staff and gets a story in whispered tones.
"Aye, not so loud, that Fahrstad golem was haunted, we kept finding it in different poses after nobody was in the room for while. To be honest we're all happy to have it be gone, well I'd be even happier if we didn't find wax flakes all over the museum afterwards. Impossible to get them all cleaned up ya know. Makes me worry its still walkin' around at night."
