Getting started

Test by Will

Hello, nufriends!

Checking in - this is Adam. (Apparently, I had an account on Paizo already from who knows when, but I dug it up.)

Acquisitives

I am typing up all the info you need regarding feats and abilities now and will post it here when I'm done. Once everyone is accounted for, I'll go ahead and begin the scenario. I will be responsive here and in email if you have any questions about rules or whatever. You can also go to paizo's homepage and select "Starfinder" and "online rules" to look up specific items as well. I understand it can take time so if you want to just shoot me the question, I'm happy to do it for you.

A word on skill checks in Starfinder: A player can help another succeed at a skill check by performing the same action and attempting a skill check as part of a cooperative effort. To do so, the assisting player must attempt the skill check before the player they want to help, and if they succeed at a DC 10 check, the assisted player gains a +2 bonus to his check, as long as he attempts the check before the end of his next turn. Example:

Nakonechkin wants to take a culture check to remember a song on the radio. He has a +1 INT modifier to culture checks. Dakoyo is going to try to help him hum it out. Dakoyo rolls a 18 (-1 int mod) on his DC 10 check and passes. Nakonechkin then rolls his culture check with a +3 modifier.

Sorry for joining late, been on a road trip. I will try to check more regularly.

Glad this is kicking off! Great to play with you all.

Also, happy to take advice on improving the art of forum RP. If anyone has links to websites that list common faux pas, I would love some direction.

Acquisitives

Just a word on skill checks - all the skills on your character sheet are considered those your character is trained in. Some skills are possible to do untrained. All of you can do the following skill checks (even if they don't appear on your character sheet. In cases where the skill is not listed on your character sheet, just roll a D20 with the attribute modifier.

Acrobatics (dex) with armor check penalty
Athletics (str) with armor check penalty
Bluff (cha)
Diplomacy (cha)
Disguise (cha)
Intimidate (cha)
Piloting (dex)
Sense motive (wis)
Stealth (dex) with armor check penalty
Survival (wis)

Armor check penalties (based on the armor you are wearing):
Dakoyo = 0
Gazigaz = 0
Nako = -2 (only applies to stealth checks because you are trained in acrobatics and athletics)
Quonx = -1 (only applies to acrobatics checks because you are trained in athletics and stealth)

I'm not sure how much posting is too much.

Kevin might have mentioned that I've got a bit that I'm doing offline for the next few weeks. If I'm showing up a bit too erratically I'm entirely down to try checking in at set times or playing it in whatever fashion functions best.

So far it hasn't kept me from checking in, but I wanted to throw it out there. Also same comment as Kevin, this is my first forum RP. If there's anything that needs improving I am 100% open to feedback.

Sure, what kind of posting frequency do people want? At the fastest speed, I think every other day works because Will and I are in China. Otherwise, we could set up times for twice a week, or once a week if people are busy. Happy for everyone's thoughts. I can do any frequency. Proposals:

Option A: Twice a week. Players post Monday and Thursday. I'll do responses on Wednesday and Sunday.

Option B: Once a week. Players post all your stuff before Thursday and I'll post responses Friday.

I'm happy to post two times a week.

Sorry, first week at my new job. Everything got put on hold. I can do twice a week going forward.

I live at my computer, so I'm good with pretty much whatever.

Twice a week works great.

Acquisitives

Cool. Twice a week it is.

As mentioned before, Stamina goes down first, so Dakoyo, after the spacewalk, you would go from HP14/SP14 down to HP14/SP6.

I still haven't found a slick way to do maps. Let me know if you have any advice, otherwise I can always just email a gridded map. I can update to maps a week, should be easy. In that way, you would just tell me the coordinates of the space you want to move to and, if necessary, the coordinates you will pass through to get there (in case of Attacks of Opportunity.

Is the Azimuth Rifle full auto? I can't find that info, and it might help me decide whether I want to try a full attack (not permitted with full auto) versus a track+single attack.

Acquisitives

The Azimuth Rifle doesn't have the full auto function. So you can choose to fire it as a full action (full attack) which would allow two attacks with a -4 modifier to each -or- you can fire it as a standard action with no penalty. Don't forget your combat tracking ability is a move action. You can activate combat tracking and take a standard attack in one round which would give you an additional +1 modifier (so basically your base roll + dex mod + 1 for combat tracking). For your current state, being entangled, your combat rolls for attacking would look like this:

Quonx Azimuth Laser Rifle Standard Attack:
1d20 + 2 (+4 dex -2 entangled = 2)

Quonx Azimuth Laser Rifle Standard Attack w/ Combat Tracking
1d20 + 3 (+4 dex +1 Combat Tracking -2 entangled = 3)

Quonx Azimuth Laser Rifle Full Attack - you do this attack twice
1d20 - 2 (+4 dex -2 entangled -4 full attack penalty = -2

If everything gets started back up down the road, maybe shoot me an email. If it's all concluded, then thanks for having me.
