"Not way you talk to pretty caterpillar. We must respect his land, he aware of threats. We sorry for disturbing you. You look like you can deal with any problem without our help." Yen Wu said.

![]() |

The katroome starts puffing itself up in indignation at Krennel. "How dare you? I never! Such disrespect!" He looks like it is getting ready to let loose a whole tirade of reprimand, when Yen Wu cuts in. Despite his disabled intelligence, he is astute enough to stoke the ego of this creature and his fawning words are enough to placate him.
"Hmmph! Of course, what help could I possibly need from you? Those pesky goblins are beneath me. Do you think that wooden fort they hobbled together over in between those two hills would worry me? Of course not! All just pathetic riff raff and their fleas-covered mangy dogs! Hmmph! But if you lot think you want to take them on, you better think again! That little female sneakabout will stab in your back before you can even sneeze! And that bugbear blessed by the Demon Queen herself! Of course, if they dare come anywhere near my domain, I'll wrap them up in my webs in no time! They are fortunate I was taking my rest when they stumbled through here two days ago! Dragging the screaming human girl disturbing my rest. Bah, humans!" The katroome rambles on and on, not quite noticing the contradiction in his words.
Anything else you want to find out from the katroome? If not, I'll get you guys on your way.

![]() |

Thank you for this information. We endeavour to end this goblin threat, which while beneath you, sounds as if it is a bit of an annoyance. Hopefully these goblins will trouble you no more.
Rel is ready to move on.

![]() |

Ready

![]() |

Oh yeah I'm ready. Don't want to piss this guy off any more hahaha
Kebro just nods with a tip of the hat and follows after krennel.

![]() |

"Harrumph! I did not share that for your benefit. I was merely informing you that unlike you, I have nothing to fear from those little pesky green things." Without a word of farewell, the katroome climbs back up his silken thread and disappears into the foliage.
The Pathfinders continue their way, no longer worried about looking for the trail with the clear directions that the katroome had given. Indeed, during the few rest stops, you see signs of the goblins' passage so it seems that the haughty caterpillar's instructions are accurate. The destination still looks some distance away and you estimate you would arrive the next morning.
As dusk approaches, you start looking for a suitable place to camp. Straight ahead, you notice some structures and you draw close to investigate carefully. Crumbling stone walls mark the site of what was once a small cottage, but is now merely a ruin. The remains of a garden, now in disarray, surround the dilapidated and collapsed cottage. Only after making sure that there are no monsters hidden to ambush do you set camp and settle down for the night. With the usual watch, of course. And a good thing you did...

For during Kebro's watch, in the flickering light of the embers from the campfire, he first though his eyes were playing tricks. On the opposite side near where Rel is curled up deep asleep stands a colorful plant with long, thin leaves and three prominent, bright pink pistils that reach elegantly toward the sky. He could have sworn he saw the flower curl and he did not notice any wind. He focuses his attention on it, studying it carefully when it hit him. That was not there when they had set camp!
"Awake! Awake! We are under attack!"
Due to Kebro's good perception, he warned you of the attack in time so you are not asleep. It and Kebro still gets a surprise round though. Also, other than Kebro and Elytria, everyone is still prone. And not wearing medium or heavy armor.
Also, the area around your camp is in dim light. Any further would be darkness, but I think we can handwave that.
For every 5 that you beat the DC, you may ask for one piece of information from this list.

Try as he might, Rel fails to free himself from the binding vines. Kebro and Elytria rush in to attack. The druid manages to land the spear but the plant dodges the bite of his beetle companion. Yen Wu quickly scrambles to his feet, draws his rapier and closes in.
The vines constrict tighter around Rel and he feels his ribs creak. What's worse, he starts losing his breath and he quickly realises that the plant is drawing precious blood from his veins and air from his lungs!

The rest of the night passses uneventfully as you do what you can to patch up Rel, mostly through his own efforts. The next morning, you set forth, relying on katroome's directions and soon you can spot more signs of the goblins along the way. By mid-day, you spot the signs of a wooden fort in the distance up on the hills. Thick forest cover the lands between you and the fort, and you are confident that none within would have spotted you yet. You take cover to have a quick discussion...

Rithon doesn't think a stealth approach will be successful- but in the absence of another option he is open to try it. He will have updated his daily spells to be better prepared to face things with cold and fire resistance

![]() |

"I agree, stealth may be our best bet. I could keep lookout for signs of the goblins on our way, just in case a ranged assault ends up being more advantageous."

The Pathfinders do what they can to approach the fort as stealthily as they can manage, but their efforts are hampered by the thick undergrowth. It is as if a dried twig would manage to squirm its way under every step. The progress through the trees is slow and agonising but eventually you come close enough to get a good look.
Soft light filters through the branches of the forest, which is still and silent. A rough platform formed of interlocking hexagonal stone columns rises thirty feet above the forest floor, abutting the foot of the mountain. A rickety wooden staircase attached to the side of the cliff leads to the top of the platform, which is covered by a ramshackle collection of boxy wooden buildings surrounded by a patchwork steel fence.

Quick question - 3D combat is always a little unclear - when you say 'they are 15 feet up' you mean there are 3 squares of empty space, then they occupy the square from 15 feet to 20 feet? IE, they are too high up for me to hit with my Glaive (which threatens the squares from 10 feet of elevation to 15 feet of elevation)?

Rel, it means their feet is 15 feet up, i.e. they occupy the 15-20 feet square. So yes, out of the reach of your glaive.
Rithon, yes, go ahead with the mage armor.
Krennel, one of the best part about playing an alchemist is that using extracts take a standard action, regardless of casting time of the original spell. So your summon appears in the surprise round. But like everyone else who can act in the surprise round, it only has a standard or move action. Will let your summon's action take place first as it would likely affect the goblins' actions.

Krennel, the eagle only has a standard action, so can't full-attack.
The eagle suddenly appears and slashes it claw across the back of one of the goblin. The sudden attack almost sends him plummeting down, but he manages to catch hold of a branch in time.
The cunning goblins, recognising the threat of a foe dressed as a wizard, targets Rithon first as priority. Two errors pierces through his magical defences, with one punching through his neck. Without a sound, he collapses bleeding out into the ground. One sends his arrow at Yen Wu leading the pack, grazing his thigh. The two next to the eagle swivel around and send their arrows at it. (The eagle can make one AoO vs either green or blue. Most likely green. If it can take out green before he fires his arrow, eagle will survive with 2 hp. Otherwise, it is killed.)

Rel, that's fine.
Kebro flings a sling bullet which grazes the thick skull of the nearest goblin. That gives the opening for his beetle to fly in. Krennel flings a small vial towards one of the goblin. Despite the foliage cover, his aim is true, striking the small humanoid right in its chest. The contents splash around, draining the life completely from it (green) and one of the goblins beside it (yellow). The goblin on the other side (blue) ducked just in time to avoid much of the splash, but accidentally loses his footing. He falls face first 15ft, breaking his neck when hitting the ground.
