Rondolpho Keene
|
After being informed about what he had witnesses, Keene grumbled. ”I hate those things. They are so difficult to detect. They can murder a ton of people unless we figure out how to put it to rest.”
Mivvy Hetherington
|
Mivvy responds to Keene, ”The murder weapon. The spirit still fears it, we must bury the weapon at his grave so that the spirit feels in control and can rest.”
”Constable?”

The Chief looks confused for a moment, then realizes what you mean. "Yes, actually. The knife is in the evidence locker. If you can end this nightmare, then certainly I will give it to you."
She steps away from the entry room for a few minutes, then returns with a rather simple looking knife. "His body should be easy enough to find; it is in the graveyard of Tristeza House. If you ever find yourself going there... Well, best of luck to you."
Quest Acquired: A Slain Father's Peace
Destroy the haunt by burying the dagger at Tolger Mann's grave. His body is buried at the cemetery outside Tristeza House.
That is in Chapter 3, so we can save it for then.
Fen Vion

Sorry Busy weeekend
Fen give his companion a funny look but seeing as she has calmed some he lets it go.
"SO we got this dagger, now we move on to Hopes Hallow to follow up on more Mystery. This is quite the day indeed for us."

Kasumi's Krew makes their way to Mother's Care Home for Invalids...
DC10 Perception
Perception Mivvy Hetherington: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Perception Prakriti: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Perception Kasumi the Vexatious: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
Across the street, you notice a middle-aged woman attempting And not doing a good job at it to be stealthy. The entire party, even Kasumi, notices her watching you all.
Seeing as she was spotted anyways, and that you are all going in, she comes up to you all.
“We brought my father here because the new owner promised good care. After he took over, everything was clean and bright, and Father seemed happy. Then the staff stopped allowing visitors. Instead of proper food, they served gruel and water. Father was old, but he wasn’t sickly. Yet he passed on quickly after we brought him here.”
She looks up with bitter tears welling in her eyes. “If you have loved ones here, get them out now! Don’t let them suffer and die in there!”
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Hey!
Kasumi konsiders the kuest they've kommenced. "We'll look into it. Have you seen what the orderlies are wearing? Could you, perhaps, describe their attire?" she asks, tugging on her Sleeves of Many Garments in anticipation.
GM Worg
|
She gives a description of the orderlies...
"White outfits that a button flap that covers the buttons with short sleeves. White slacks."
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Kasumi nods. "Excellent! So that's... one orderly sorted out. Not sure if I want to scout by my lonesome, though..." she mumbles, looking over the group. "How do the rest of you feel about miming invalidity?"
Rondolpho Keene
|
”I guess I don’t really wear any armor, using Mage Armor and all, so I might be a good choice. I’d really miss my greatsword, though. Any other ideas besides me trying to play an invalid?”
If not, Keene agrees to be the bait, after casting Mage Armor, of course.
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
"I'm definitely open to smarter ideas. We already ran into one house full of zombies and demons today," she shrugs. "Anything that lets us keep our zombie-smackers handy is good in my book. I've got some spring-loaded sheaths, if anyone would benefit from them," she offers, pulling back her sleeves.
Mivvy Hetherington
|
Mivvy rolls her eyes, "My dear, you are not tending to patients; you are escorting guests to an important meeting with the proprietor. Now, shall we be off?"
Mivvy adjusts her hat, corrects her posture and sweeps into grand dame mode with ease. Somehow, she seems to look down her nose at all of you, even those taller than her, without tipping her head back more than a few milimetres. "Finally, a home of good repute to which we might entrust dear Uncle Albert in his miserable dotage. I do hope they let him bring his priceless art collection with him?"
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Kasumi nods, then considers. "Let me just... try to look a little less conspicuous."
With that, she snaps both her fingers in rapid succession, closes her eyes, and her face changes. She appears a little taller, her hair shifts from a red undercut to a brown pixie cut, and her features become a little more bland.
"This oughta do."
Using one of my daily Disguise Self SLA's to look more like an average local.

Mivvy's Mates enter the care home...
The brief hallway beyond the front door of the care home is bleak and gloomy. A large meeting area with several tables is completely devoid of patients and family members.
Two offices near the door feature small windows—the only light within the building appears to be from the exterior windows.
The staff make no move to approach you.

Father Urzaia Conflict

The burly guard is it, then? So cliche.
Mivvy Hetherington
|
Mivvy approaches the nearest staff member, ”Hello, my dear, I’m here for a tour. We arranged it, Oh, nearly a year ago. I’m a little early, would you let the manager know? Hetherington’s the name: Ms. Hetherington.”
bluff : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Kasumi does her best to look the part; a little bored, a little tired, a little annoyed at having to escort the entourage through the place.
Disguise: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
"I checked the sheet, and her name was on there," she says with a shrug.
Fen Vion
|
"You have homes for the lame? Elves look after each other till we pass but I can see how it is more distressing for you Humans since Elves don't die that often." Fen says looking himself over. His own tight leathers and assortment of weapons and other bits he uses on a daily basis don't bode well for him to just enter without a second glance.
"Do someone have magic to make me look less ... imposing? or Seductive?" the last bit is said with shame and a sigh
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Before entering, Kasumi casts Vacuous Vessel on Fen's scabbards, quivers, and any other containers that might hold dangerous whatnots.
That's DC15 Will to disbelieve, but they'd have to interact with them, and I don't know who's gonna go around feeling up empty quivers. ...Aside from Fen.
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Valid, but hopefully we don't run into any half-orc barbarians... Unfortunately, I don't have much in the way of disguising others. Unless you stay within a small area so I can cast a Silent Image over you.
Father Urzaia Conflict
|
Urzaia is just leaning on stereotypes. Everyone expects the ugly half orc bruiser for security.
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Urzaia, just FYI, somehow every time there's a disguise plan with one of my characters, there's a burly half-orc that's leaning into it for the part.
Also worth noting, it's somehow always the burly half-orc that gives it away. Good luck!
GM Worg
|
Slight error, these two are 1 room over. I'll assume you go over to interact with them anyways.
Kasumi's Disguise: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Standard Lie from Mivvy (No Penalty): 1d20 ⇒ 17
The orderlies look at each other really confused, before looking at Kasumi. "Ohhhh of course..." They whisper to each other real quick through the sides of their mouths.
"Did Taergrin Flinn summon another?"
"No, something is suspect here."
Father Urzaia Conflict
|
Kasumi, it makes you wonder why more groups aren't paranoid about it, but I'm more than just a "pretty" face. I... am a fully trained battlefield medic, experienced in both the divine and the mundane. And I just happen to have no face skills... so I'll just sit quietly in the corner.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Urzaia holds his position. Trying to avoid letting the guards know he heard.

One of them turns to you all and says, "You will have to excuse us, but I am afraid it is time we checked up on our other patients."
They start towards the exit of the room.
What do you do, Fund Paothers?
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
HECK YEAH
Kasumi, knowing the jig is up, bites her lip. As soon as the orderlies turn their backs, she taps into her spiritual power.
Her tail flicks behind her, arcing magic through her body. She reaches out mentally, and looks for a friend.

What a time to be alive.
The first one looks over to the disguised Kasumi, and says "I find you to be absolutely ravishing today, nurse. Perhaps we could go on a little slaughter later, you and I, paint the walls red with blood of our affection."
The second one realizes something has gone horribly wrong.

1 Question @23, 2 Questions @28
Suddenly the staff no longer look like humans, and appear to be some strange manner of cloaked and garbed men. The red one keeps flirting with Kasumi, even singing about how he is in the mood for love very loudly.
Kasumi the Vexatious
|
I want you to know that I'm currently 0 for 4 for "infiltration attempts getting past the first stage." Next time for sure! ...I'm gonna go ahead and blame Urzaia for this, somehow, just FYI.
"Oh, hell."
Kasumi bites her tongue; she wants to tell him that she's a happily married woman and that he is very much not her type, thankyouverymuch, but of course that's... counterproductive, currently.
Maybe she'll proclaim that later.
In the meantime, she darts forward toward the one in the blue cloak, jutting her wiggling fingers forward, hoping to find a rib, an armpit, or something... sensitive.

Damage 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7
Would someone move me, please?
Mivvy Hetherington
|
I think the set-dressing and the thin walls, coupled with the bright borders on the foes, meant that we all missed the thin walls when peering at the image on little phone screens. I have now moved everyone so that their actions make sense with the map. I am assuming that the charmed foe let Mivvy and Urzaia pass him before Keene decided to smash him with a greatsword.
