Maybe he came in by another way? He's an experienced agent, after all, and he may know tricks we have no idea of. Or maybe he was down on his luck, and get captured. It makes sense that who or whatever made him prisoner would have avoid the trap. Or maybe he was eaten alive-It happens, don't look at me that way!-, right on the spot, and we are on a wild goose chase. We'll know later, if we find him. Or if we are eaten alive too.

I assume Theron relayed the faint reptilian tracks near the trapped door?

Ulis does not find any further tracks. One of Desynthia's theories is a good bet :) Though, it's inconsequential to the module.
Bobbie opens the door to the next room and peers inside...
Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. A horrible stench fills the room as well, akin to the smell of rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer.
It quickly becomes apparent where the stench is coming from as two young troglodytes immediately turn their intention on the intruder. They take an immediately hostile stance at you as the stench wafts through the door and washes over the party.

Desynthia, are you moving anywhere? If not, the enemies are going to have soft cover from your party members. Theron, similarly I don't see your movement on the map. Ulis, your shot would likewise be affected by party members, so do you wish to move to fix this? Everyone Although Erica goes later in the round, you can move through here.
Desynthia's bolt seems to stick in the nearby troglodyte, but it appears unharmed from it.

"Ugh, I think I am going to be sick." The bard says as he is hit by the trog's stench.
Silas then refocuses and begins his chant. "The woods are burning, the ground lies bare."

GM PaleDim |

sorry...thought i moved my token...
No problem! Thank you! Another incentive to mark that movement: if you can get in behind them you might get that sweet sweet flank bonus :P

GM PaleDim |

Theron charges and slams into the troglodyte at the front. You think you might have heard a bone snap in its body and it snarls in pain and anger at the warrior!
Ulis' bolt flies way off to the side, missing any targets.
I'm going to give Ulis until tomorrow mid-day to decide on movement before I take the troglodyte's turns. If he hasn't moved by then I'll likely move him to a reasonable spot opposite Erica from Desynthia.
Silas, your bardic performance action is fine, you do still have a move action if you want it.

Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
The stench coming from the room is awful. Fortunately, between the spider's goo and Ulis' vomit, Erica is starting to get used to stomach-churning smells, and barely even flinches.
"You can be sick later," she replies helpfully to Silas, before grabbing her warhammer, and joining the fight on Theron's side.
Not the side where he retched and spat out bile, though.

GM PaleDim |

No problem Ulis, thank you! As we do more combat I think you'll start to figure out how you want to move around and find your own advantages in it :)
The trogs go before Erica, but I don't think that's going to change much.
The young troglodytes close in on Theron swatting at him with crude clubs.
After charging, Theron gets -2AC until his next turn, so they're swinging at AC17
Red club attack vs. Theron: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Blue club attack vs. Theron: 1d20 ⇒ 7
The troglodyte that Theron charged seems to still be knocked off his guard a bit and his attack is a mere token attempt that easily misses. Meanwhile is comrade lunges forward with more gusto and connects... but his club glances off Theron's armor.
Erica then rushes up alongside her teammate to even his odds, but the young troglodytes are quite quick and able to avoid her hefty swing!

Bobbie, the trogs go in between your teammates and you. So if your turn involves movement it definitely might be affected by their turns.
Theron slashes further at the trog that he'd charged, and blood starts to pour out. It snarls at him viciously and locks onto his eyes with its own, clearly focused on the fighter from here on out.
Meanwhile Silas jabs across at the nearest one to try to distract it for Bobbie, and Ulis sets his hand on her shoulder to transfer divine strength. With these boons surely she's setup for success on her next attack! har har
Suddenly, a spear flies in front of Silas, coming from the right to the left as it successfully jabs into the troglodyte that he had messed with. It takes a chunk of its bicep out of its arm!
This time the troglodytes cross their retalliation attacks at Theron and Bobbie.
Red club attack vs. Bobbie: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Blue club attack vs. Theron: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Bobbie easily dodges the club coming at her, but Theron barely misses his.
They each then take a cautious 5' step back.
Bobbie, I have to assume you take a 5' step to keep proximity with the trog you wanted to attack, so I've moved your token accordingly.
She then returns the favor, by glancing her warhammer off its skin for no effect...

Silas sneaks around behind one of the troglodytes. Theron and Bobbie watch as its ferocious expression suddenly turns to shock, with Silas' blade emerging, upward, through its sternum.
It drops to the ground, dead. Its comrade looks on in shock as Theron steps up and cleaves its body from behind with his sword.
Just like that, the two young troglodytes meet their end.
Victory! Out of combat initiative.
The party are relieved, but find themselves heavier with sweat and newly fading tension. Clearly there are creatures in this fortress tower more cunning that some mangy dogs!
Where to next, Pathfinders?

:'( I am ashamed
Erica groans in frustration as she misses yet again. It's like her enemies never stay in one place.
She didn't have this problem with her fellow trainees at the convent. Granted, it is harder to dodge a hit with a forty pounds steel armor on one's back. The training room wasn't even that big.
"Well, that... Went well. Shall we move on?" Erica nods in the general direction of the door next to Silas (It doesn't nod back). "What about this door?"

Is there a PFS rule about taking loot from bodies?

![]() |

Theron grabs his waterskin and washes the bitter taste of bile from his mouth. He takes a few gulps and corks it.
Well, we should find this missing agent...he might have some insight into this place. Check for anything...signs, gear...what have you. Bobbie, don't worry about missing a few swings...if you had watched my performance on my first mission, you would double over laughing. Very comical, in retrospect....
perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Let's go there first...don't want anything hitting us from behind... Theron points to the door in the middle of the tower.

GM PaleDim |

Is there a PFS rule about taking loot from bodies?
Check the PFS guide again, but generally, you do *not* keep what you find in scenarios as permanent gear or treasure. The chronicle sheet issued at the end provides you with an amount of gold and the ability to buy some of the items found in the scenario. During the scenario, you can use gear that you find as temporary, but it goes away at the end.
Ulis does not find anything interesting on the troglodytes beyond their damaged armor and clubs.
I see one vote each for two different doors. Can I get some more input for consensus Pathfinders?

![]() |

"Tell me about it," Erica groans. "My first mission was in a library. Couldn't do much, really. What about yours?"

GM PaleDim |

I'd rather check the last room, near our singer.
Desynthia keeps her spear in hand, after taking back her crossbow
Excellent, north wing it is!
"Tell me about it," Erica groans. "My first mission was in a library. Couldn't do much, really. What about yours?"
Hopefully it still good fun and you're able to enjoy this. We can't control the digital d20s and hopefully the RNG is saving up your good luck for more crucial encounters later in this fortress :)
-------------
Silas finds no traps on the door and flings it open...
Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in a large puddle on the floor.
A lizard about the size of a small dog is in the room, and looks up excitedly as you open the door. It seems more "excited puppy" than "vicious guard pet", as far as you can tell.

Oh, don't worry, I'm still having a lot of fun! I'm really not a sore loser, bad luck makes me laugh. I've just played Bobbie as a bit grouchy because she's still an inexperienced warrior who has not learned how to accept failures graciously yet. But don't worry, seeing some action will cheer her up :P
Erica's hand flies to the handle of her hammer when her gaze lands on the lizard, but she quickly relaxes upon realising that it seems harmless.
"Hey, this little guy's rather cute, actually." She rummages through her bag for a few seconds, and pulls out a small slice of bread. "You want something to nibble on?" she asks the lizard.*
(*It sounded a lot like cooing, actually, but be not deceived. Iomedean warriors did not coo. Or not in public, at least. It was softness, and Erica was pretty sure that softness was viewed as a Blaspheme and a Disgrace in the convent. It was one of those rules that seemed as obvious and unalterable as the passing of time, which is why no one had even bothered to write it down.)

"Easy buddy, nice lizard..." Silas looks in the room for an injured adventurer. If none are present, he then closes and latches the door again.

GM PaleDim |

The lizard happily munches on the provided bread.
Silas sees no injured adventurer and disappoints the lizard by shutting the door again. It's hard not having opposable thumbs.
Erica, were you wanting it to nibble bread out of your hands, or lobbing it into the room? I suspect Silas wouldn't want to shut you in there with it :P

Be cautious with that lizard.. don't put your hand between two loafs of bread, Bobby…
