GM PaleDim |
Just after the troglodyte releases its bite grip on Theron's arm, it takes a moment to appreciate its handiwork, before Theron's blade comes down on its neck, cleaving through its chest.
The troglodyte falls dead, and the other two look at each other in sober realization.
Green is down. Rest of the party is still up!
Erica 'Bobbie' Zufan |
The troglodytes are fast and dodgy. Thankfully, their rudimentary understanding of combat puts them at a disadvantage to land a blow.
Erica shifts her posture slightly, attacking the troglodyte nearest to her.
Attack (Power Attack): 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 1 + 1 = 15 Can I hear a "wahoo?"
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 14
Ulis Udic |
This would be knowledge (local), if anybody has it.
Yes, I was thinking about it when I woke and realised it wouldn't be an appropriate check- oops.
Ulis sees Theron take significant damage from the trog before it is cut in twain; "Hold on Theron, Cayden has your back"
Ulis will cast Resistance on Theron too. Its an orison, which means I can cast it repeatedly, yes?
Silas Moonsilver |
Silas continues to chant and fires another bolt at red.
Sickened+Inspire Courage
crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 51d8 ⇒ 2
GM PaleDim |
Yeah Bobbie!
Bobbie finally catches "her" troglodyte off guard with her warhammer, and once she does it doesn't take much. She caves in its head, and it falls to the ground dead. The blood oozing out of its mashed face does not improve the stench.
The last, already injured troglodyte is stunned by the sudden loss of both its comrads. Theron finds it easy to take advantage of this distraction and cleave into it as well, nearly taking the head of its body.
The party is left with a sudden peace, but a horrible mixture of smells remain in the room.
Victory! Out of combat initiative
Ulis, yes, orisons (for divine casters) can be used infinite times once prepared.
These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.
Silas, Bobbie killed red, so if you'd like please keep that bolt and round of bardic performance.
Pathfinders, what next?
Theron Randallas |
Let,s get out of this room quickly....before I lose what is left of my lunch. Theron says between hacks. He scans the room one kast time before leaving the room.
Let me sit a bit before heading on...I think I might need some bad liquor to scare the aftertaste out of my mouth. Ulis, would you mind using my wand to heal my cut, please? Thanks.
Erica 'Bobbie' Zufan |
"If you happen to have more than one charge on this thing, I wouldn't mind a healing spell either," Erica tells Ulis, feeling a bit weakened after the recent exertion.
GM PaleDim |
Forgot to include this in the last post, but...
Final post-battle conditions: Bobbie -2, Theron -4, Silas -1.
The group takes a minute to rest, and the sickness passes from those Pathfinders who were feeling it.
So, when you say "leave the room", which door are we headed through? :) Go ahead and post your CLW wand usages.
Ulis Udic |
Ulis claps the team on the back, grinning.
[b]"By Cayden's rose-scented musk, those creatures never stood a chance!"
He raises his mug again as it magically fills with Ale.
I have 2 CLW, 1 Protection from evil, 2 Channels left. If we rested I can prepare Enlarge Person instead of Protection... thoughts? Otherwise happy to push forward.
GM PaleDim |
You'll need a plan to safely rest in or near this place.
Desynthia Medzen |
May I try the wand? PLeaaaaaaaaase?
Assuming no one objects to Desynthia persistent pleading
UMD: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
CLW on Theron: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Do you feel better now? I guess so! It's wonderful, that feeling of white hot energy, that sentiment of Life.. do you feel it too?
GM PaleDim |
Opening the door to the northeast...
Cracks in the walls and ceiling of this chamber have allowed rainwater to collect here, flooding the room and giving rise to a profusion of mold and fungus along the walls and ceiling.
In the center of the room sits a large, mottle-skinned blackish-green frog. It's about the size of a black bear. When the door opens, it turns and focuses on Theron and Bobbie, croaking loudly as it gives a hungry look.
Silas Moonsilver: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Erica “Bobbie” Zufan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Giant Frog
The whole party is up!
Erica 'Bobbie' Zufan |
Erica grabs her warhammer-
Wait- are frogs even reptiles? I thought reptiles were lizards and stuff...
Moves forward, and takes a swing at the giant frog.
Attack (Power Attack): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
GM PaleDim |
Welp, that was fast. :P
Ulis rushes into the room and fires a bolt at the frog, though it seems to only take a chunk out of its shoulder coz, y'know, 1 dmg. Theron and Bobbie move in swiftly making short work of it, cleaving and then smashing. Theron is so excited he even confuses the amphibian for a reptile! It takes no offense as it dies.
Victory theme! I have no idea if you guys click on these, but this seemed appropriate to this whole sequence, from the PoV of the frog :P
The room falls silent nearly as quickly as you had opened the door. There are soft sounds of trickling water, and shimmery light dances across the stone walls and ceiling as reflected by the pools collected here.
Where do the Pathfinders venture next?
Ulis Udic |
Ulis shouts to Silas and Desynthia in the other room; "You can come in now, the used to be a frog in here"
Before moving on Ulis will search the two rooms for anything of interest. He takes a couple of long draughts before searching through the \sleeping mats- they must be pretty disgusting.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Overturning the mats releases a solid wall of stink, the smell really gets to him and Ulis leaves pretty quickly.
Eastern most door?
GM PaleDim |
Ulis flips over the sleeping mats quickly, and possibly because of the affect of the stench on him, finds nothing.
GM PaleDim |
Opening the eastern door you find the familiar open air of the destroyed wing. There is nothing else here of note, and interestingly a portion of this wing seems to be closed off an inaccessible (from this side).
Where to next?
GM PaleDim |
A brazier of glowing coals sits in the center of this room, its acrid smoke mixing with the ever-present troglodyte stench. A few knives, pokers, and other metal implements lie atop a rusty iron box nearby.
Standing next to the brazier is another troglodyte, seemingly older and stronger than the last three.
Silas Moonsilver: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Silas moves into the room and releases a bolt.
attack: 1d20 ⇒ 141d8 ⇒ 6
GM PaleDim |
Silas darts into a room releasing a well-placed crossbow bolt. It hits the troglodyte head on, but seems to only stick in its thick hide. It smiles a toothy grin as it plucks the bolt, leaving a pit in its skin, and tosses it aside.
He and Theron both feel the familiar wave of nausea wash over them. At this point it's hard to tell if it's really still the smell or triggered by the sign of these tribal creatures now...
Erica 'Bobbie' Zufan |
"One of those things again?" Erica exclaims. It seems like an entire tribe of troglodytes decided to call the fallen fortress home.
Carefully, she advances in the room, her shield held high as she waits for the troglodyte to engage the combat.
Going full defense for the first round. AC bumped to 25.
GM PaleDim |
The troglodyte snarls at Bobbie, hurling its javelin at her.
javelin attack, P damage: 1d20 ⇒ 111d6 ⇒ 3
She casually watches it safely fly by, quite off the mark, and landing with a satisfying clang on the stone floor behind her.

Come on, you coward, Erica thinks, as the troglodyte takes several steps back, putting as much distance between him and the humans as possible.
She inexorably gets closer and closer to him until they are facing each other, keeping her guard up.
Still full defense, AC 25.

Cast Daze, DC 14
GM PaleDim |
Ulis looses another bolt that again sticks in the troglodyte's hide like a pincushion, but it seems not to mind. It makes a confused expression at Theron's jeering, not understanding it's destiny to be a boot. It carefully eyes him and Bobbie as they cautiously approach.
It believes it has the situation still under control when a celestial eagle appears next to it, pecking and clawing. It swats at the summoned creature, and shields it's eyes....
beak and talon1 hit for 5 damage total
Will, DC14: 1d20 ⇒ 19
It seems unaffected by Desynthia's spell.
Silas is still up!
GM PaleDim |
It watches the party shift around, then lunges at Bobbie with its claws bared!
claw 1 attack, S damage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
claw 2 attack, S damage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
bite attack, S damage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
It only gets one claw on her, but with her strong defensive stance it's swatted away immediately. Frustrated it takes another step back.

Theron strides forward, cursing as he goes. He swings his sword with a grunt as he gets next to the beast.
Curse you and your pond hopping kind! the warrior bellows, with a trail of spittle leaving his mouth as he yells.

Desynthia Medzen |
The eagle, unfortunatly, pops up in a silvery cloud, leaving some feathers that disappear when they touch the ground.
Desynthia changes her strategy, and, speaking in the tongue of Heavens, sends a ray of white Energy flying toward the lizardman
Touch attack, Heavenly fire: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Dmg (ONLY if evil): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
But, nervous as she is, the ray misses totally its intended target, and hits the wall
GM PaleDim |
The troglodyte watches as various members of the group perform interpretive dance, with their weapons and spells displays, near it but not directly hitting it.
Ulis and Silas are still up!
