Here we go, ooc discussion here.

OK, I will get a Gameplay post up in a bit, work is pretty busy so I'm not sure how fast I will be. My RL friends/family will be joining us soon. Galin is our 4th and our 5th is still incoming. He's still working on a character.

First, a procedural question. Is anyone opposed to Google Slides for maps and possibly Googlesheets for a equipment/xp tracker?

Grand Lodge

Female Human Fighter 1 -- HP 14/14 | AC 19 (Shield) / 16 | BAB +1 | CMB 5 | CMD 15 | Initiative +2 | Perception +0 | Fort +8/Ref +0 /Will +0

Reporting for duty. No issues with either Google service though I've also never used them before. But it's Google. They'll get your data anyway.

Human INACTIVE

Thanks for having me! I'm fine with using Google Slides/Sheets.

oops, I forgot to mention background skills. You can spend 2 skill points per level on background skills. Shouldn't make a huge difference on build.

Isabella, I'm seeing that you have 7 lvl 0 spells known. Have you used your Favored Class bonus to get an extra spell known? If so, please note in your build somewhere, and I think that would only bring you up to 5.

Janissa, Please set up your stats in your class profile line as Isabella has them. The most important things to have are AC, Saves, HP, Initiative, and perception. You can add other stuff if you want for yourself. Also, should your longsword attack be 6? Str (+4), BAB (+1) and Weapon Focus (+1)?

If I missread something for either of you guys, let me know.

Halfling Rogue 1 HP 9/9 |AC 18/15/11 | CMB -1 CMD +13 | F:0 R:6 W:0 | Init +6 | Perc +4 (+5 traps)

I'll take a look at my char sheet and bring it up to date now.

1 spell is from the FCB, plus I got detect magic/read magic for free from my bloodline. I'll note that under spells known as well so it's clear.

And another (+1) for Masterwork quality. Uuuuh, you should maybe have a second look at her equipment and yell at me for cheesing that.

Greetings folks! I’ll get my line set up before tonight and find that character sheet. He’s a goofy gnome, look forward to getting going!

By the way, Galin and Janissa should be familiar with each other, and Isabella and Jilhanna should also be familiar with each other based on your backgrounds. The relationships there I leave up to you.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

I’m thinking we will probably all be ready by next week some time. Sorry for the delay, my timing wasn’t very good.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

By the way, I love that Jilhanna has a meal schedule, haha.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

OK, I've heard from our 5th and he's backing out. So that leaves us with a cleric, sorcerer, rogue and fighter. Janissa, are you still around here? If so, I think we can get started.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

Working on getting us a 4-5th. Still open to Janissa participating but its worrying that I haven't heard anything back.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

Thanks for your patience. Got a hold of someone and they are thinking about what they might be able to through together. By the way, I love the books.

Ok, TheEmeraldDuke wil be joining us as a dwarven Paladin (stonelord) of Torah shortly. Nothing substantial will happen until then.

Hey all, just about done. Pending the GM's once over for sanity I should be ready to hop in.

Welcome!

Thanks for joining us!

So this is the Emerald Duke's (somewhat hastily compiled) character, Torian Marcath, stonelord paladin of Torag.

Figured it would be fun before we get rolling to share the Paladin's code for Torag, as I will be trying to follow this somewhat strictly:

Torag Paladin's Code:

Paladins of Torag are dedicated to protecting not just the lives but the way of life for those under their charge, and hold the ways of their chosen people as holy, especially when they are the centuries-old works and traditions of an entire race. Their tenets include the following affirmations.

  • My word is my bond. When I give my word formally, I defend my oath to my death. Traps lie in idle banter or thoughtless talk, and so I watch my tongue.
  • I am at all times truthful, honorable, and forthright, but my allegiance is to my people. I will do what is necessary to serve them, including misleading others if need be.
  • I respect the forge, and never sully it with half-hearted work. My creations reflect the depth of my faith, and I will not allow flaws save in direst need.
  • Against my people’s enemies, I will show no mercy. I will not allow their surrender, except when strategy warrants. I will defeat them, yet even in the direst struggle, I will act in a way that brings honor to Torag.
  • Should be joining y'all in the gameplay thread shortly!

Looks good! Go ahead and head to the inn in gameplay and we’ll get started!

Let me know if you need me to dial back the accent a bit. I figured if I came out strong with it at first I could dial it back over time and have y'all still being able to mentally read it with the accent if need be. ;)

It's a little bit of work to read, but I love it. So, worthwhile IMO.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

I love it, even though it takes me about 2-3 times as long to read it as normal dialogue, haha.

Work is pretty hectic this week and next so I may not be at my normal posting rate until after that but I still plan to have at least one post a day.

By the way, what time zones are we working with here? I'm in US on CST.

Also, Torian, I forgot to mention we are doing Background skills so you can add and shift skill points as needed for that.

You're on Standard time? I didn't know any states did that any more.

I'm in the Eastern Time Zone, observing Daylight Savings Time, so EDT.

    Will do... EST here..

    Human INACTIVE

Completely missed this question somehow. I'm also in the Eastern Time Zone.

Hmm, well I’m on daylight savings, so would that be CDT??? Meh, I hate daylight savings.

Same as the DM and also have a hard time tracking daylight savings... it really should just go away

My folks said that Washington state recently passed a law to keep them on DST, but that it has to be approved by the federal government somewhere (not sure which department/branch) before it can become a reality. If it did they would stay in this pocket of time and not fall back with most of the rest of the US. (They also would no longer have to spring forward, as they would already be there.)

Anyway, background skills picked. They are the italicized ones under trained skills. (Picked up knowledge history and made knowledge nobility the second one, giving me room to make Diplomacy a trained skill.)

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

I’ll have a post up later today that gets things moving. Weekends are hard for me. 3 kids at home keep you busy.

If you're in the Central Time Zone and you're on Daylight Savings Time, then yes, your abbreviation is currently CDT

In the US there are a few exceptions to the national law about switching in March, so while it is possible that someone is still using Standard Time, it would be unusual.

Several states have passed laws that say, in essence, "If Congress ever makes it legal, we're going to permanently stop switching." [Congress made the current law; they have to change it]

Unfortunately, all of those laws so far mandate a permanent switch to Daylight Savings Time. So "high noon" will forever occur at 11 in the morning.

Be sure you know what a "yes" vote means if your state puts it on the ballot.

Please use a Header during combat as follows

[b ]current health | Modifiers different than your profile such as AC including mage armor for example | Current count for pools such as rage rounds | anything else that needs to be tracked[/b ]

    HP 54/54 | AC 21 (18+3) | Lay on Hands 6/6 | Smite Evil 2/3 | Spells: 1st - 2/2; 2nd - 1/1

    Halfling Rogue 1 HP 9/9 |AC 18/15/11 | CMB -1 CMD +13 | F:0 R:6 W:0 | Init +6 | Perc +4 (+5 traps)

    Correction:

Someone want o volunteer to track XP for us in the campaign tracker? Also, the item and coin tracking tabs are there if you want them.

As a novelty I am at least tracking my own xp in my character sheet under random crunch. Seriously, first time here that I've had to use that... most gms just fiat when everyone hits a level without detailing the encounter by encounter xp. This is new, and therefore fun for me. ;)

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

Huh, interesting. I’ve never played in a game where XP isn’t tracked like that. I’ve toyed around with the idea of milestone leveling but I’d like to do it this way this time. I’ve also thought about ABP but decided not to for such a short module.

    cleric Gnome level 2 [Init+0 | Per:+5 | SM:+3 | F:+3 R:+0 W:+5 | AC: 15 (T:11 FF:15 ) | CMD:9 | Speed:20ft | HP:17; spells lvl 1: 2+1] Low Light Vision | Channel 1/5 | Acolyte 2/6

Oh that is interesting though. I've heard of the milestone leveling but not the ABP.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

Well, I've still not heard from Jilhanna since last week. There are a couple options. I can just bot her until we hear something, but who knows how long that will be if ever. I could also look for a replacement. I'd rather not have a GMNPC as part of the party just because of the extra work for me. It wouldn't be my best work probably but it wouldn't be for a very long time either.

    Thoughts?

    Human INACTIVE

I’d say bot her for now, then if we still haven’t heard from her by the time we reach the crypt look for a replacement. That seems like a decent compromise. I’m assuming the majority of the adventure occurs in the crypt itself so it wouldn’t be a bad place for someone to jump in.

    Male Halfling Barbarian; level 8 [Init+3 | Perc: -1 | intim:+14 | SM:+10 | F:+9 R:+5 W:+2;+2 in rage | AC: 28;-4 in rage (T:17;+4 in rage FF:25 ) | CMD:27 | Speed: 30ft(rage+10) | HP:85; Rage:14/20 rounds

    That seems a reasonable compromise.

I would throw an addendum to that saying that the GM can open the recruitment if he thinks we are getting close so that we can (hopefully) have someone ready to go by the time we get there. Worst case, we have a party of five folks if she comes back during the recruitment.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

Yeah, I had actually wanted a party of 5 in case of situations like this. I expect to be to the crypt sometime next week or the week after so we've got some time. Please don't hold me to any time estimates.

Location: Trail | Time : Neth 6th, Noon | Map: Crypt Map

I’ve got a family reunion going on the rest of this week so my posting is going to be spotty. I’ll try to get something up later today.

    Rogue incoming.
