I'm hoping to play Gunnz, who is in (what I think is) the last encounter of her current scenario. I may have to juggle things if it goes on too long, but we have been pretty quick in general.

GM Ilmakis |

We will start as soon as possible, but we will wait for Gunnz to be free, so I hope before Sunday.
But if you prefer to play your level 5 we can wait for monday to start rolling dice when it matters.

![]() |

I would prefer to use the nuar technomancer (5), but I don't want to hold it up more than a day or so. So, with that the 3 level 3's (I thought one was four, but I was off), are
Lvl 3 Dwarven Priest Soldier of Iomedae and Torag. Front Line fighter, melee.
Lvl 3 Formian Tempered Pilgrim Solarian, Front line fighter, melee.
Lvl 3 Half-orc Dragonblooded Envoy (Intimidat. Take Diplomat -Diplo and + Intimi from Intimidate). Back line Intimidator--not a healer.

DebugAMP |

I have a lvl 3 Technomancer and a lvl 4 Envoy available. Depending on when we start, I may have some GM credit to bump one or the other up a level.
Consequently said GM credit is the same scenario that Gunnz is waiting on. I expect it to wrap by sunday, and can give Gunnz a 'preview' of her chronicle so she can make any leveling/equipment decisions.

Update on Purchases: Reconfigurable Clothing (Formal, Env (heat), Env (Cold), Env (Dust), Everyday) (136 cr)
Tool Kit, Demolitionist's Kit (200 cr)
Tool Kit, Thieve's Tools (200 cr)
Industrial Backpack (25 cr)
Library Chip (Life Science) (250 cr)
I also forgot to put the details for the Instructor boon in my previous post, so here it is now...

GM Ilmakis |

@Chikasa : you are missing 1RP (your Int bonus is +4 not +3)
@Buff-bot : can you update your character line to align with your level 4 ? (and don't miss to add another RP to your total!)
@Poppilo I think you miss one language.

![]() |

Looks like we are missing more of a front line. I will not play the Technomancer (seems we have enough magic).
So....
Formian Solarian lvl 3 front line.
or
Dwarf Soldier lvl 3 front line.
Both are good. I have the Solarian I think 100% ready, the dwarf will just need a bit of cleaning up (he just got level 3, most is updated, but I want to double check).
If people want to look at my alias's and think on it.
Kitkul
or
Baragh Dented Helm.
Either way I will be ready in less than 6 hours (work got crazy this week, so zero free time--even at lunch--to do much).

![]() |

Right you are! Thanks for catching that, Ilmakis! I must've forgotten to update my RP after I purchased my Int ability crystal.

![]() |

@Poppilo I think you miss one language.
Not sure which one I missed. Poppilo's got 5 languages now:
- 1 Common- 1 Racial
- 1 Homeworld
- 1 from 12 Int
- 1 from 1 rank in Culture

GM Ilmakis |

@Poppilo ok, I mismatched many thing, wrongly believing that Culture wasn't a class skill for Mystic.
Which one is your homeworld ?

![]() |

@Poppilo ok, I mismatched many thing, wrongly believing that Culture wasn't a class skill for Mystic.
Which one is your homeworld ?
The Diaspora, as befitting a pirate! It has no native language though so I wasn't sure whether that means I pick any language or that he doesn't get one. Hero Lab suggests the former. What do you think?

GM Ilmakis |

The way I understand it (but I could be wrong) is that if your homeworld doesn't have a specific native language you can't pick any specific additional language as the default will be "common".
If I can make an analogy, its like in Pathfinder, if you are Taldan or Chelaxian you don't have a specific language except for common (taldan).

![]() |

Sure, I'll drop Aklo then. Reading CRB, it does state "...and the language of her home planet (if any)" so I think you're right. Guess can't always rely on Hero Lab. :)

![]() |

I figure with going to Castrovel, and a gala going on, the Formian was a better call. The Dwarven Soldier from Salvations End that is constantly drunk, and talks like a prize fighter probably wouldn't do well in a gala.

ECD for Gunnz's current game is saturday. I suspect we should probably not go much further than we are now until that is resolved.

![]() |

I am fine with the slight break. I have the Protectorate Petition to prep to run Saturday, and I am on roll20 for Sunday for Crittercon 2019.

![]() |

Just killed off BBEG.
Don't have the chronicle yet though. Still, some purchases look to be in order
Elite Stationware 4100cr (early access from a chronicle)
Second skin (250cr)
Gunnz too will also purchase suitable clothing (20cr total)
Formalware
Party (cocktail)
Safari chic (can this count as environmental(heat)?)
and a set of dancers clothes that she seems to have forgotten to pack before :-)
Also a tier-2 computer with five miniturisation upgrades (375cr)
Culture and life science library chips (500cr more total)
And sell her freebooter armour for 375cr
Depending on the credits on my chroncile, I may also get a thermal capacitor upgrade (mk1)

![]() |

I promise to get Gunnz her chronicle this evening PDT.
I didn't kill her! That hammer only maimed her...

Didn't hurt her dance routine for the day job.

GM. Question. Something I was thinking (but didn't ask this morning). I know that the Supernova will hurt the swarm...but would Stellar Rush if I bullrush into the swarm? It does fire damage to the target if I hit or not hit? Just curious, as honestly this is the first time I have seen a Swarm in SFS. They just are not as prevalent as they are in the PFS scenarios :-)

GM Ilmakis |

I don't think so, except if it hurt several creature at once.
Swarm seems as scary in SFS (maybe even more) than in PFS.
A quote from Alien Archive about Swarm Defenses.
SWARM DEFENSES (EX)
Swarms take damage from weapons differently depending on how the weapon targets them.
A swarm is immune to attacks and effects that targets a single creature (including single-target spells), with the exception of mind-affecting effects if the swarm has an Intelligence score and an ability similar to the formian’s hive mind (see page 50).
A swarm takes half again as much damage (+50%) from effects that affect all targets in an area, such as grenades, blast and explode weapons, and many evocation spells.
A swarm takes normal damage from an attack or effect that affects multiple targets (including lines and fully automatic mode attacks). For the purpose of automatic fire, the swarm counts as five targets. For example, if an automatic attack is made using 12 rounds of ammunition, it can attack a maximum of six targets, so it can damage a swarm normally. However, if two other targets are closer to the attacker than the swarm, they must be attacked first, leaving only four attacks to target the swarm, so it takes no damage.
Format: Defensive Abilities swarm defense

![]() |

Yeah, that was my feeling also, which is why Kitkul just attacked it with the weapon. It didn't know better (no physical science), and never fought a swarm before. So I get to be the entree for them until Round 3, then Supernova will work :-).
This is why I am now going to start carrying grenades for all my characters (as of the end of this game, I will find something for Kitkul to carry)...even if they are a waste in most cases. Also...line weapons, or maybe blast weapons should be given to my characters...hmm.

![]() |

Yup, there's a reason I decided to keep Overheat on Chikasa's list of known spells. You never know when you're going to run into a crowd or something that requires AoE!

![]() |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Past Reynold: [hemming and hawing about purchases for the next scenario] I use grenades so rarely and they're so expensive per level, I'm just gonna save my cash for something better.
Present Reynold: Ah nuts.

![]() |

I think it is probably prudent to buy 4-5 mk1 Frags at this point onward. If SFS starts to use the plot book of PFS season 0-3, swarms will likely be 1 of the 4 encounters of all scenarios. mk1 are cheap......had the single one on Kitkul since chronicle 1.
Oh well..live (hopefully) and learn.

![]() |

Well, seeing as Season 2 of SFS is called "Year of a Thousand Bites", I'd say stocking up on anti-swarm measures would be wise. :P

![]() |

It looks like anti-swarm measures are a lot easier though this time around, since full auto weapons and burst weapons are a thing. For me personally I'll probably opt for some grenades though.

![]() |

@GM thanks for the fix on the will save!

![]() |

And double post, as I just noticed I seem to be missing from the initiative. That stealth roll was so good even the GM didn't see me!

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

True, although 'free action' is much more concise than 'thing that happens at the start of my turn that doesn't use an action.'

GM Ilmakis |

I agree, but in this case you wouldn't be able to use it while nauseated :P (good improvement IMO)
You can use the "not an action" also ^^

![]() |

Will use "Not an Action" from here on out then. Since I should at least have some way (besides my info bar) to track when I am ready to go boom in Supernova :-)

![]() |

Probably best to talk about this on Discussion.
@Chikasa, reading all I could about formians, the warriors are usually the ones that are most likely to break off, as they are given a bit more mental 'leeway' than the workers. And all warriors are supposedly women (which if you know Ants and Bees this makes sense). But all warriors are also supposed to be sterile (only the queen can make heirs). When I first made Kitkul, I found out that IRL thinking "One" and "itself" way to hard, so moved it to PbP.

![]() |

That makes sense! I made an agender samsaran in PFS that refers to themself as "This One", and I can definitely agree that it would be way too difficult to keep up with that IRL. Anyway, I just wanted to throw some props your way for the cool roleplay. :D

![]() |

Quick question - do we know what vehicle level the cars are?
My posting schedule is a bit tight just at the moment, and I know the pilot can hold things up. In general if I'm holding things up, feel free to bot Gunnz. I'll add a flavor post as I become available.
By default, Gunnz will (pending finding out the car level and judging its suitability) likely be trying a double move (so at -4) and for each of them using "speed up". So DC 21+vehicle level. With a +15 to piloting, that is a reasonable chance of success. Even better if we get in the lead somehow and get that nice +2.
Of course if the situation changes badly she might try something else, but this is just to give a good chance at botting me/her if necessary.
I don't suppose the vehicles have a computer like starships that can give a bonus?
