Hey all! Discussion thread, woop woop! Once you have your character profiles made, go ahead and post here with them. Then this campaign will show up on your Campaigns tab in your Paizo profile:

https://paizo.com/people/YourCharacterName/campaigns

A nifty extension for the Paizo forums can be found here (if you're using Google Chrome; I would assume other browsers have similar ones if you search for them). Its most useful function is letting you know (via a little icon next to the campaign threads) when a particular thread in the campaign has new posts.

I'll have the Gameplay thread up in the next day or so.

Human Cleric 1, FYI

Hey hey! I'll shoot you a PM in a moment.

A quick note about posts in the gameplay thread. When info is behind a spoiler with a skill check and DC posted (such as the one I just posted in the gameplay thread), DO NOT READ IT unless you succeed at the requisite check. If you succeed, you are free to share the info with the party as you see fit, or simply state that you share it (in which case you may read the spoiler tag yourself.

I will do most of my rolls physically, but on the occasion you see a spoiler tag that says "Behind the Screen," DO NOT LOOK SHANE. Also the rest of you too, please.

I'm probably forgetting stuff but we'll cover it as it comes up, in that case. Happy rolling everyone!

Hey all. I've been giving this some serious thought, and have decided to implement the Bottlecap system in Crimson Throne!

I will keep track of bottlecaps myself, but I also encourage you to do so. You could, for example, make a note in one of your spoiler tags with "Caps: 0" or something to that effect (and no, you won't start with any bottlecaps).

What can they do in our campaign? I'll tell you! This will be slightly different than how they do it on the GCP, due to the fact that we are on PBP.

1. Because it's so easy to edit posts after the fact, you do not have to announce the use of your bottlecap on yourself or a party member before you roll. You may spend a bottlecap after you roll a d20 to roll twice and take the better result.

2. You may spend a bottlecap in response to an NPC/monster's action to force a second d20 roll. In this case, the NPC/monster does not take the lower of two rolls. They take the second roll, regardless of whether it's better or worse. (If you spend it to force a reroll on a crit, it will be used to reroll the actual attack roll, not the crit confirmation roll. I'm not that much of a monster.)

3. You may set up a "trigger condition" on your combat post to spend a bottlecap in a particular situation when I post for NPC's/monsters. For example, "If the troll attacks Adrin, I will spend a bottlecap on its attack roll." If you use the cap in this way, the target does roll twice and take the lower result. (The trade-off is that the ability to use the bottlecap in this way tends to be more limited, so it's more potent.)

4. Lastly, you can use the bottlecap to potentially stave off death. If you take a fatal hit and you are conscious, you can spend a bottlecap to immediately heal 1d6 damage. This healing increases by 1d6 at every odd character level. If it's enough to keep you alive, you fall unconscious at the appropriate amount of negative hp and stabilize. All bleed effects are also immediately ended. If you are unconscious when you take the damage, you cannot use the bottlecap in this way. You can also use a bottlecap to automatically stabilize when at negative hit points and dying.

Alright!! Very cool!! How do we get them, you ask? Easy!

PANDER TO ME.

Kidding.

A particularly fantastic roleplay moment might earn the participants a bottlecap. Be aware since we are doing a PbP, I expect a slightly higher level of RP than I would in a live game where you have to do that stuff on the fly, but it is by no means impossible. I encourage you to try!

You can also earn a bottlecap through your vast oracular powers! If you make a plot prediction that turns out to be true, I will totes give you a bottlecap.

Finally, if you do something particularly ridiculous, clever, or risky in combat in order to a) further the story, or b) benefit the group, that may also earn you a bottlecap!

Any questions, hit me with them. I will answer to the best of my ability. Don't hesitate to ask!

Hooray for Bottlecaps. Here is temporary Alias. It wouldn't let me pick Maelis Dorso because "SOMEONE" else is using it. Werid. :X

Okay, I need to make a small rather large adjustment (in your favor!) about the Harrow Points. On re-reading the system, I was less than half right. There are, in fact, ways you can spend your Harrow Point(s) throughout the first book, as follows. All uses of Harrow Points are a free action that you do not need to take only on your turn.

Dexterity Rerolls: You can spend a Harrow Point to reroll an initaitve check, Reflex Save, Dex-based attack roll, Dexterity ability check, or Dexterity-based skill check. You must abide by the new result, even if it's lower (although if you have additional Harrow Points, you may continue to use them).

Dodge Bonus: You can spend a Harrow Point to gain a +1 dodge bonus to AC for one encounter. You can spend up to 3 Harrow Points in this way in one encounter to increase your AC in this manner.

Speed Increase: You can spend a Harrow Point to increase your base speed by 10 feet for one encounter. Only one Harrow Point may be spent this way per encounter.

Now, in addition to these methods--which can be spent anytime in Book I--there will also be certain events which you gain automatic bonuses for (without having to spend Harrow Points!) based on what card you drew during your Choosing. (That's that first card Zellara had you draw before shuffling out the nine cards for your reading.)

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Now would be a good time to mention the Rule of Half. If at least half the party (two, in this case) choose a course of action (usually where to go next when that is up in the air, such as now) I will move the narrative along to that location (or an interim location if something occurs en route, obviously). So make sure you have all your planning taken care of before you suggest moving on! When you're ready, you can make an in-game suggestion of it (as Andakos has done) or an OOC comment stating where your vote lies.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them either here or in the Discord!
