Lexi's not clumsy, per se, but she's inattentive of her surroundings and often unfocused, which makes her appear to be a klutz. She's not the wisest person around, which is why I had her try to stealth-ID the crabshank. And yeah--the dice bot made sure I paid for that bad decision!

That's a much better way of phrasing what I meant! Inattentive is a much better word!

About the current battle: are we just backing up so that the cave fisher follows us back to its master? do we have the right critter?

Well, the mite king said Clickylegs made off with his 'sleeping crown,' so if we return there without the crown we may have a fight on our hands.

Lexi does, but that's mostly just her self-esteem talking. She has a spell that allows her to understand what mites say but no real way of communicating back with them, so her hope of getting more info about the Crow and its other inhabitants is likely just pie in the sky.

I'm not too pushed one way or the other, although Verris might not be too happy with breaking a deal they made without even trying to fulfil it. Good faith and all that ;).

Seems like it should be easy enough to run the creature back to the mites and say clickylegs while pointing at it... or get Bixby to make an illusion of the mite king and see how the creature reacts to that as per his suggestion. We can always murderhobo it if all else fails :P.

I was considering them for Lexi merely for carrying capacity reasons, but I see now that Bixby's Strength makes Lexi seem like Hercules! Bixby should take them.

Besides, one day Lexi's gonna finish embroidering those feather-shaped pieces of black leather that're in her inventory, and then their meaning will become clear!

There'll be times when Mage Armor will not be up... it happens... and once it's upgraded to +4 or better, you no longer need to worry about mage armor.

Metagame hat: Lexi would be better served with a spidersilk body suit or something similar... celestial armor down the road is the holy grail, but spidersilk is great until then

Last I looked, you had skells to the left and right around the corners in front of you (flanking me) and then three in a row right beyond that. As some of you might know, I don’t have home internet access, walking instead to my local library to use their free wifi. Currently, I have a wifi hotspot on loan. The loan expires today, and while I don’t have to return it until the start of May, as I understand it the hotspot shuts down automatically when your loan period ends. With the library closed “until further notice”—‘til early April at the very least—I may be unable to post for the foreseeable future. If this happens, please bot my PC or have them step “offstage” temporarily if that’s more convenient.

Hopefully my hotspot keeps working and there won’t be an interruption in my ability to post…but if it doesn’t, my state’s pretty much in lockdown mode for God knows how long and I have no good posting options. I’m looking into assisted/emergency internet access, but the application process takes some time.

I’m hoping I’ll post to games as usual tomorrow, but if I can’t…Stay safe and I’ll get back in touch when I can.

Thanks for the thoughts and kind words.

Just a quick reminder for GM Dak if he has to bot Lexi: I've put most of her stuff in macros in her profile's character sheet, so you can simply cut-and-paste for most of her attacks and skill checks.

There are three main things to running Lexi:
1) She'll usually squeak in fear, excitement, and/or awe when encountering something new;
2) She'll try to concentrate on firing her crossbow rather than trying melee at -5 Str;
3) Most times, she'll make a Knowledge check and initiate bardic performance (naturalist--current threat) and the start of combat, possibly maintaining it for a round or two if it looks like a tough fight, otherwise she stops and lets her Lingering Performance feat kick in;
4) She'll hang back and heal with wand of cure light wounds (charges currently 45/50).

I'll also try to update the Lexicon of Lexi at the bottom of her profile so there'll be a complete up-to-date list of what creatures she's already made Knowledge checks on for her naturalist ability.

@GM Dak: progress check here... we started book 1 on Feb 28, 2019, so how far do you think we are to the end? 14 months in and 41 pages of gameplay later, I'm a bit worried if you expect each upcoming chapter to have a similar time commitment, but it could be that this first book is particularly demanding and complex.

I'm looking for your feedback here in order to evaluate my ongoing involvement with the campaign. I love your GMing style by the way, so this question is purely to determine if I can personally commit to the rest of the campaign or not.

I would also welcome GM feedback to us, the players, at this point, if you think we're taking too long on certain things. For instance, I'd be fine not having to post perception / disable device checks for every room we go into, and instead have Gurk roll ten or twenty of those checks in a spoiler box in advance and you can simply look at them each time we get to a door, apply situational mods at that time, and move on. Etc.

To the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'll also throw in the Google Slides suggestion, as it flies under the radar of many workplaces' IT department, as opposed to Roll20, which is an obvious 'you're not working, Bub' flag for many organizations. It's also lightning fast for the GM to setup: copy/paste. Having personally prepped Roll20 maps before, I know how much of a drag it can be to setup when you don't really have the time to do so at a given moment.

Just my 2 CPs! :)

Agreed. Especially in a dungeon-heavy campaign, I think just having our door routines established would help. (And if we have nothing to help us indicate which direction to go, I'm also fine with you just determining randomly which way we go.)

Female Aasimar (musetouched) Bard (Archivist) 3 | hp --13-- 21/21 NL [0] | AC 16, t 13, ff 13 | Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +3 (has specials) | Resist acid 5, cold 5, electricity 5 | BP 10/11 | Init +7 | Darkvision 60 ft., Perc +4 (+5 traps) | Speed 30 ft. | Bard Spells 1st 4/4 | Lore Master 0/1 |wand of CLW (39/50) | Conditions: none

Door Routine Reminder (for Gurk): Though Lexi's usually in the rear of the party, she can be called forward at any time to help search for traps (she's got a +5 modifier) or to help remove any found (she's got a +10 Disable Device modifier, an automatic success on an Aid Another check).

She's not great if Stealth's required, though (+6).

Great suggestions guys!

@Adistan: I'd be more than happy with the GM dragging us to the next room as well. It's not like we're gonna suddenly stop wanting to explore EACH room in a dungeon, right? ;)

@Amelexis: I second your auto-aid for Gurk; moreover, as we level up, you'll find that bards are pretty badass and will benefit from a host of spells to prevent early death (heightened awareness, heroism, invisibility/vanish, mirror image, raiment of command, good hope, and much, much more)

Goblin CN Rogue 3 | HP 27/27 | AC 17 (Trap 18) | T 15 | FF 13 | CMD 14 | Fort +3 | Ref +7 (Trap 8) | Will +2 | Init +4 | Perc +7 (Trap 8), Darkvision, Scent 1/day | Acro 12, Bluff 5, DisDev 13, Disg 3, EscArt 10, Local 8, SeMo 7, SofH 10, Slth 16 | dog, dog +6 (1d4+4/19), bow +7 (1d4), sneak 2d6, spark

I'll be willing to roll repeatedly at the start to cover for a while and keep it in a spoiler, though I would suggest randomly choosing doors so bad rolls cover random doors/halls. This is one big tower, though!

@Dusk: Okay with aid, though Gurk isn't to type to say so. We can share the effects of any exploding fireball doors we fail. XD I'll try to remember to add the +2 bonuses next time.

I feel like we are going at a better pace now. I have just been rolling stuff to keep us moving for Gurk when he doesn't get a chance to post before I do, mainly just letting you guys decide which direction you are going to take. As far as the book and completion you are about half-way done with the current level you are on and there is one more much smaller level below this and then that is the end of the book.

As for the maps, Roll20 is actually easier because I am running two tables of this and the other group is well ahead of yours so I can just copy the work I do for them directly into your game (there is a literally a copy everything over feature in my version of Roll20). Switching to Google would actually make more work for me. Not sure if it is any more work friendly or not, but you can always ping my on Discord and I can put up a map for you to tell me where you want to adjust your placement in combat.

I mean if you really want to push ahead I can speed things up and just jump you in between important encounters to get you on to the next book, just writing big walls of text and assuming what you all want to do?

I would like that very much. Perhaps not for the entire book, but for drawn out dungeon levels with little plot relevance, you have my vote to do so. I trust you would slow things down at important locations in the story.
