Esrisi Derexhi
|
When Drask goes down again, a realization washes over Esrisi that she's going to do need to make something happen here if she plans to get out of this situation alive. She searches around for the source of the smoke, but can't seem to pinpoint it.
Giving up on that idea, she sighs heavily. The things I do for you people.
She extends her left hand down with a thrust and activates her wrist sheath as a dagger pops into her hand. She tries to psyche herself up for putting herself in a ridiculously vulnerable position to try and help the team. After two quick breaths she shouts "Saph-PHER! Take down not-Ayala!"
This is crazy!
She bursts forward and as she tries to take as defensive posture as possible, moving acrobatically through the smoke to the other side of Not-Ayala in order to provide flanking for the dwarf.
Assuming I survive the two AoO's, Sapher should get a flanking with bless.
Acrobatics, Sickened: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 2 = 9
Ez is armed with the dagger and should have the benefit of an image + concealment + total defense and the enemies are baned! AC20
Caroliss Kaddren
Mokhasi can continue to Daze a target until it is actually dazed, so I think you can still do it a bit more. Is the bottom edge of the map a solid barrier or is there open space so I can move there? Seems to matter a lot for this combat.
Caroliss Kaddren
Caroliss delays until after Mokhasi because she wants to see if his Daze spell works.
I still want to know if the southern border of the combat map is a hard border, but will just take my turn.
"The only collateral damage here will be your face!" As the smoke appears, Caroliss dives into it. She makes a big show of attempting to hit the woman with her cestus.
Aid Another (Sapher) DC10: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 34
Caroliss's gambit proves quite distracting. Sapher gets +4 to her next attack on the woman.
Sapher Mornshire
"What?! I'm busy with TWO other--- FINE!" Sapher snaps and swings her hammer at the hazy shape of the misnamed or not named or lying person who might really be named Ayala.
attack the hazy woman between the bossy Ez and the exasperated Sapher: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 8
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
UGH ugh UGGGGGH ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Caroliss Kaddren
That's a +2 Sapher, time to shine baby!
To be clear, the net bonus for Sapher was +2 from flanking with Esrisi, and +4 due to Aid Another with the helpful trait from Caroliss, for a net benefit of +6. So Sapher's total attack roll is a 12, which of course still doesn't matter.
GM Dak
Caroliss moves into the smoke and tries to help distract the woman and help Sapher with her attack. Esrisi circles around to get in a position to help Sapher as well, being careful to avoid any attacks, but none of the enemies even pay attention to her.
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 19
The man resists Mokashi's magic again.
Correct, you can 'try' to daze them, but once they have been dazed once they are immune for a time. The only one you have successfully dazed so far is the dead one.
Drask continues to lay on the ground while the heated battle continues on around him. Feel free to give me a stabilize.
Sapher turns her attention to the apparent leader of this little hostile contingent. However, even with Caroliss and Esrisi helping, or trying to be helpful, Sapher misses the woman.
The one thug steps down to continue after Vel. While the other thug continues attacking Sapher.
Attack-G: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Attack-B: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The one man smashes Vel in the face with his morning star nearly knocking her to her feet. The one attacking Sapher just barely misses.
Round 3
Mokashi/Drask/Sapher, Thugs, > Vel, Terisha, Caroliss/Esrisi
Sapher Mornshire
So even with more help than any has every received in a single roll (for first level) she STILL missed... thank you Caroliss :)
Veltariel Mendrasti
Veltariel reels from the hit, hoping this accursed human didn’t just break her jaw. She spins over beside Adorellan and draws her sword, bringing it up in a thrust at the man who hit her!

GM Dak
Vel slices into the man that just smashed her in the face, leaving a deep cut, but the man still seems capable to continue fighting.
The woman turns her attention to Esrisi who had been haggling her this whole time and decides to try and take her down, since the dwarf hasn't been much of a threat so far.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 1 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
She misses though and scowls at Esrisi, though it is probably difficult to see behind all the smoke.

Giving up on the poor dwarf, Caroliss will try and help Vel with her enemy.
Aid Another DC10: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
But she fails miserably.
Sapher, I propose you hide in the smokescreen.
*Edit* - Caroliss tries to make a mirror image for Vel.
Concentration: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Vel gets a mirror image that lasts 1 round. That's my last one.

Oh, she will use adoration on any of the people attacking her. Dwarf doe eyes...
Esrisi Derexhi
|
Esrisi struggles to look through the smoke to see if the dwarf hit the woman in front of her "Did you get her yet?!"
Esrisi dodges the blow from not-Ayala more by luck than skill, leaning to try and see what Sapher is doing and just timing it perfectly. She does feel the swipe fly by her body though, recognizing she's attracted attention. "Hey!"
"So if you're not Ayala and you're getting ready to take me down, would you mind continuing your monologue and tell me the name of my would be killer?"
Dagger Blessed, Flanking, Broken, Sickened: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 6 Why dicebot, why?!
The oracle lashes out with her dagger in her left hand, but finds nothing but the mist with her slash. She slips forward 5' into the mist, hoping for the most cover possible.

2 people marked this as a favorite.
“NO! I have...” hammer swings uselessly “Drask in my EYE!” she swears loudly. Sapher has discovered yet another problem with being in a party of the insanely tall. When you stab or smash someone, the blood splatters from in front of you. You get used to raising your shield or turning your head to avoid the chunks in your face. If a grossly over-sized half orc cuts in half another too tall (just not as tall) human RIGHT next to you, the resulting downpour comes from above... which one isn't used to. And to add to the inconvenience, if said half orc is cut down, not once, but TWICE right next to you, and you look his way (since you are concerned as any good dwarf would be) right at the wrong moment, well you get half orc in your eye.
And fighting with half orc in your eye is not a pleasant. No, not at all.
Needed to explain why Sapher sucks... it's Drask's fault :)
GM Dak
Caroliss tries to help Vel distract the man assualting her but doesn't do a good job. Instead she tries to make an image of Vel to try and help protect her.
AoO-G: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 = 7
AoO-T: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 1 = 8
Luckily neither of the enemies nearby are able to interrupt her as an identical image of Vel pops up right next to her.
Esrisi continues to banter with the women who doesn't seem all too interested in talking with her. As Esrisi tries to stab the women she laughs as she easily avoids the blow. "No reason to tell you my name when you'll all be dead soon..."
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Mokashi uses his magic and finally is able to Daze the man assaulting Vel, stopping him in his tracks momentarily. Drask is still out, but it looks like he has at least stopped bleeding for now and is still breathing. Sapher misses yet again, obviously having issues with the Drask's blood getting dripping down her face and getting in her eyes at inopportune moments.
The one thug on Sapher continues to try and hit the well armored drawf.
Attack-B: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 1 = 11
He curses as he misses again and the leader yells back to him "Forget the dwarf he isn't a threat! I think it is just like a kid dwarf or something, hasn't even grown a beard yet." The man nods and shifts his gaze toward Esrisi in the smoke as he steps over Drask to slowly make his way there while not opening himself up to an attack.

I pulled some strings with the Elven dice gods to help out the non-humans here...
GM Dak
Vel stabs the dazed thug and he looks to be in pretty bad shape but is still on his feet.
The woman swings her blade at Esrisi once again hoping to silence the chatty woman once and for all.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 1 = 6
The smoker hampers her as much as it helps and she swings wide as she tries to cut into Esrisi.

Esrisi Derexhi

Esrisi dodges the attack with the blade and scoffs at her assailant. "You're as bad with that thing as I am! I guess you're right, there's no way you could be Ayala after all. Oh and in case you wanted to know, my name is Esrisi Derexi. You cut down my half-orc, prepare to die."
Esrisi is not daft enough to try and attack however, she knows that likely wlil accomplish nothing more than trading blows. Perhaps her constant chatter will annoy the pesky Not-Ayala enough to keep her off balance. Instead, she takes as much of a defensive posture as she can and slips five feet to the north to flank two of the intruders again.
Caroliss Kaddren
Caroliss slides north, definitely not wanting to draw attention to herself, but she tries to help Vel finish the enemy.
Aid Another, Flank: 1d20 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) - 1 + 2 = 12
Vel gets another +4 on her next attack.
Esrisi Derexhi

Esrisi watches as Caroliss slides into her safety spot of the smoke to her south. Her eyes flick left and right as she looks around nervously.
She hisses at Caroliss in Elven out of frustration, trying to hide the words from her Not-Ayala Elven: "Dammit Caroliss! Where am I to go now, I'm exposed!"
Veltariel Mendrasti
Spotting Caroliss move and take a swing at the bandit, forcing him into a disadvantageous position, Veltariel says ”આભાર,” with a smile.
Elven: ”Thanks.”
Sapher Mornshire
Sapher had gone out of order, forgetting that the main lady hadn't gone yet. So her hit is this round. Oh, Drask, please forgive both Sapher and her handler for any insult, I was just trying to fill a post with something other than She Missed... again
Mokhasi Kpu'unde

D’oh! Only periodic reception on the subway. Let’s hope this isn’t gobbled up.
Mokhasi steps away from the foes and into the smoke, targeting the leader with a daze spell.

GM Dak
Caroliss keeps try to help Vel, seeing it is at least somewhat effect with Vel continuing to cut into the one man. Esrisi does her best to defend herself from the woman's attacks, putting up her guard.
Mokhasi attempts to weave a spell while not opening himself up to an attack. With the thug right there though it is too distracting and he can't complete it causing the spell to fizzle out. Sapher finally lands a blow on the man who turned his back to her doing a good amount of damage, and nearly hitting him over the head, but smashing into his shoulder instead.
The thug, now injured turns his attention back to Sapher, and the other one, continues his assault on Vel now that he is out of his daze.
Attack-B: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 1 = 18
Attack-G: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 1 = 11
Neither of them hit though, the fight raging on seems to be wearing them out.

Again Veltariel thrusts her blade into the man who seems intent on fighting to the death. Which suited her just fine...

Vel finally strikes down the man who bloodied her face. She pulls the blade out of his limp body on the ground. The leader stabs at Erisi again.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 1 = 12
Not able to hit the woman, she decides the battle may be taking a turn for the worse and steps back while she grabs a potion, getting ready to drink it.

Esrisi watches the woman retreat our of the most and says ”Awwww no you don’t!” as she circles behind her. She turns back to Caroliss and shouts ”Caroliss, box her in from that side!”
Assuming the cleric follows orders, Esrisi drops her knife to free up both of her hands. Growling a scream as she lunches at Not-Ayala with her bloody muck and vomit crusted body, trying to wrap her up and slow her down.
Grapple, blessed, flanking, sickened: 1d20 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 = 19
GM Dak - The way I'm reading the rules on grappling checks, all checks require two free hands. So if she wants to try and break that grapple, she's going to either take a -4 for stuff in her hands or drop her wonderful potion and her weapon.
Esrisi Derexhi

Yep. I'm just trying to slow her down is all. Drinking should give me a chance to punch her in the mouth too.
Caroliss Kaddren
Suddenly, the tide of battle turns in their favor. "Should've run when you had the chance, fool!"
Caroliss approaches, whip in hand, and tries to knock the potion out of the enemy's hands.
Disarm, Whip bonus, Bless: 1d20 - 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 + 2 + 1 = 7

Mokhasi again attempts to daze Terisha, this time no longer threatened due to the work of Sapher.
Assuming Sapher obliterated the goon, Mokhasi moves north and dazes Terisha, DC 14 will negates.

Esrisi steps around the woman and then grabs on her to try and restrain her. Caroliss, then comes in behind and trips to whip the flask out of her hand but misses. Sapher brings her hammer down on the mans head, crushing it in and dropped him to the ground like a wet noodle. Mokashi moves away from the fighting and attempts to daze the woman with his magic again.

Esrisi struggles to maintain her grip on the woman, determined to not let her get away. "You're. Not. Going. Anywhere!" she grunts as she slips around until Mokhasi lands his daze.
