Kiley Sherrow |
Yeah, hopefully everyone else is still around. I know Stryn's been busy with stuff, but I hope we haven't lost him or Renae or Hal.
Henric Drake |
I doubt that we'll lose Stryn. He seems pretty solid, but life doesn't know the meaning of 'straight' lately. :p
Kiley Sherrow |
True dat.
Henric Drake |
I'd hate to, but I can understand the need to put it to rest. What do you think, Kiley?
AdamWarnock |
I would love to continue, but I get it if we need to shelve it. I’ll see if they are checking their pms. I know you can hide campaigns with the Paizo forum campaign tools plugin. They may not have seen the new posts even if that are active.
Kiley Sherrow |
PMs sent. Hal's player posted earlier today, so I hope he's still interested. Renae's player last posted mid-September, so I'm not as hopeful about their return.
That said, we could also recruit some people. We'll be heading back to town once we're done with the goblins, I think, so we could introduce some new blood then.
Henric Drake |
Sounds like there's more than enough interest in Dak's Discord. I don't think that we'll have any issue finding replacements. :p
Haelador "Hal" Faervel |
Yup, still here, still posting in other games. Thanks for the PM, Kiley; I stopped checking for updates here a little while ago.
I won't do any of you a disservice by lying to you, though: my heart's not entirely in this one any more. I admit that my interest has waned with the hiatus, which I stress isn't really the fault of anyone but myself. Dak's circumstances are beyond his control and need (rightfully so) his attention, and I won't question the GM's reasons. Still, I think it best to be frank, especially if there are other players who would be eager to take my place, as Henric says. Truthfully, I also have enough on my plate as is.
Joining one of these games is a responsibility in my mind as much as it is a pleasure, however, and as such I'm very willing to play out Hal to a natural conclusion if the GM would prefer that. I won't burden anyone with a PC's awkward disappearance.
GM Phntm888 |
Well, I was going to send the PMs today, but Kiley beat me to it.
I can tell you that my absence has largely revolved around family health issues - both mine and my wife's. I've tried to keep up, but my mental bandwidth has been struggling. I'm shuttering most of the games I'm running, however - one's already inactive, I'm going to make another inactive, and my Rise of the Runelords game is going inactive once we finish Book 1, on account of I've gotten highly discouraged with running it based on the lack of player engagement and the fact that players keep disappearing. This is the one game I'm willing to keep running, if you guys want to stick around.
Henric Drake |
Despite the awkwardness of playing Henric (most of which is just settling his 'voice' and character), I've been enjoying the game. If willing, I'd like to keep it going. But as I said before, I totally get it if this needs to be shelved.
I know the feeling of frustration with having to shelf a new game. I just started one not too long ago myself, and it's already feeling like it's unraveling some.
Kiley Sherrow |
I've really enjoyed playing Kiley and would love to continue, but like Henric, I understand if you want to call it here.
I've played a lot of PbP and I've GM'd a few games. One thing that I have found is that long lasting games have that combination of invested players and a GM that wants to keep things moving because they want to see what happens next too. Sometimes you have to ride out some roughness, but then there are other times where you have to be realistic and throw in the towel. I've had a ROTRL game that lasted a few years before real life got to us and I had to shelve it because it was getting harder and harder to move forward.
So... yeah. I'd love to keep going.
Oh, and I totally get what you're saying Hal. I wish you luck and you will be missed! It's been fun reading your posts even if Kiley worries about your lack of marbles. :P
AdamWarnock |
Posting as myself since I think this deserves some special consideration.
I'm happy to hear that the health issues are, or at least seem to be, getting better. I hope you're managing to take care of yourself with all of this craziness going on. I wish you and your wife well and trust me when I say I know the feeling of about not having the brain-width to handle gaming.
I guess what I'm trying to say is welcome back and here's to having fun with you some more.
GM Phntm888 |
Okay, here's what I'm thinking: You've basically got this fight and one other before you rescue the Dwarves. Given how things are going, if you'd like, we can handwave victory in these fights, get the dwarves rescued and loot found, then fast travel back to Roderic's Cove. From there, Hal and Renae can be gracefully written out, Stryn can remain botted, and I'll ask people in Dak's Discord if they want to jump in. Sound good?
Kiley Sherrow |
Sounds good to me.
Henric Drake |
Hey Gerald. Welcome!
We currently have a Slayer (Frontline DPS) and me, Evocation Occultist (Ranged DPS). So either of those options should be good.
I'll get Henric leveled up today, but I'm just going to work on getting our loot sheet updated and then see about how we're going to divvy it all up.
Henric Drake |
@GM - I know it's in here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
Average for HP?
Henric Drake |
Should be, though I'm sure that he'll have a couple modifications for being 3rd level.
CampinCarl9127 |
Hey all, yet another person who got an invite via discord.
You seem to have damage well handled, and with Gerald going for a full divine build, I would love to take a swing at an arcane build. It is my favorite kind of build after all.
It seems like we may not have a good face right now either? I see Henric has dumped charisma, and while Kiley has a good charisma she doesn't seem to have many of the social skills trained. With Hroth going for front-line occultist as well we will have 2 classes with high Int scores, so probably don't need somebody else taking up that spot. So I will likely go for a charisma or wisdom based arcane caster. I'll do some brainstorming and see what other details the others fill in in the meantime.
Camellia Gray |
(This is Hroth)
Just for information so you can make a more informed decision, Camellia will have a decent charisma and will eventually pick up enchantment implements to honor the Sorshen connection, and the resonant power on those gives a bonus on charisma checks, so she'll be decent at face skills, too. She's going for all the Sisterhood Style feats, so she needs a 13 charisma minimum for them
I have a really busy afternoon today, so I might not be able to finish until later this evening, but I've had the basic build and backstory settled in my mind for a while, so it should go fast
Henric Drake |
I see Henric has dumped charisma...
Heh.. yeah. He's a nice guy, but kind of awkward around people. More of a bookworm. He used to have a bit of a stutter, but he's slowly growing out of that, as he gains more confidence.
Hrothdane |
It was more of an interest check and an opportunity to look over Gameplay and decide if your style would be compatible with mine - I didn't quite expect this.
Henric - For HP for your level up, roll or take half+1, whichever is higher.
At least for me, I already took a look at the game when someone mentioned on the discord a few days ago you might be looking for more, and I liked what I saw :)
Henric Drake |
Right!
HP: 1d8 ⇒ 8
We'll have to sort out how to split what loot we have. Should we account for those that were here? Or just split between the 'three' that are left?
CampinCarl9127 |
I understand, and I came into this expecting it to be more of a recruitment rather than a invitation to the game. Apologies for the onslaught, with Covid happening so many of us have had a lot of our games die down.
GM what are your desires/expectations for getting some new players in? We want to ensure everybody has a clear line of communication and understanding of how you want to proceed.
Henric Drake |
I don't want to speak for GM Phntm888, but maybe recruitment should move to the Recruitment thread. That way we can keep the conversations separate. :)
GM Phntm888 |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Yeah, I don't want the Recruitment thread getting bumped back up. That'll result in a massive influx of people, I suspect.
I don't want to get the Discussion thread cluttered up, either, and I want to make sure character creation rules are easily referenced.
I'm going to put up a new Recruitment thread, but mark it as "Closed" so that people outside the Discord don't join in.
Henric Drake |
So how would you like me to deal with splitting loot, GM?
Should I split it as if Hal and Renae are still with us? Or just split between myself, Kyley, Stryn and party loot?
Henric Drake |
I added it in there already. I seem to recall that Kiley was collecting all of it. I figured that it would help pad the numbers a bit, which would be a very Kiley thing to do. :)
@Kiley, is there any thing in the loot sheet that you'd like to keep? I assumed that you'd want the ioun stone, but I'll let you decide.
Also, do you want to keep the flaming dogslicer for Stryn? Or just sell it off and let me buy what he wants when he gets back?
Henric Drake |
Or just sell it off and let me buy what he wants when he gets back?
Meant to say "Let him buy what he wants..."
So, just hang onto it, then?
Kiley Sherrow |
Yeah, He's the only one that can use it, so I think he should get rights of first refusal at least.
Going to work on getting leveled after I update the RotRL game I took over. It's been fun getting back into the swing of GMing things on the boards again.
Edit: HP Roll: 1d10 ⇒ 9 Woo!
Kiley Sherrow |
And Kiley's all leveled up and ready for some carnage. :D
Kiley Sherrow |
Oh, right. We have loot.
Lemme see what it does.
*looks at the handy, dandy loot sheet*
Oh yeah! Come to papa! Gimme!
(Forgive the theatrics. I am in an especially silly mood tonight.)
Henric Drake |
All yours.
There's also the Eyes of the Eagle.
Not sure who should get that, but it might be another Stryn item.
I'm assuming that anything else is pretty much getting sold.
