The Eldritch |
"Well, that was rather inconvenient." Eldritch says, as he draws his wand and starts waving it over himself. "So, how shall we proceed?"

"No idea. Perhaps we should just burn the plant. But that might be not a great idea in a ship..." Pandora quickly touches herself to patch her wounds and those of Tje.

"Otherwise I could wash it in enough acid to eat it to dust... Should it not be resistant to that." Eldritch offers, holding up a hand and demonstrating a green acidic bolt of energy that floats gently above his palm.

Garmit extracts his healing wand and with a little bit of help from his friends, gets his latest wounds tended to.

The ship although the plant as infected the ship, it does not look like the ship is damaged in any way. In fact looking closely the tendrils of the creeper have at best scratched the ship's crystal construction.
Closely examining the hull you do notice an uncountable number of bodies and specimens embedded in the crystalline hull. It is like a hall of mirrors effect with the light refracting with in the crystal.
In short destroying the plant will not cause any damage to the ship.
However looking that root bulb itself, you suspect that there are other specimens with in there that can be recovered. The plant can be safely cut or burned with fire and acid.
Zanice |
Eldritch, you have a way to produce large, controlled quantities of fire or acid? I can do acid damage all day thanks to these lovely new gloves, either with an unarmed strike or with whatever weapon I am holding. Between us we should be able to clear this out and get to whatever is in the root bulb. I wonder about the specimens in the hull though - can we remove or examine them?"
Pandora Soulkeeper |
Pandora nods "I agree with you Zanice" then turning to the gnome still affected by the freedom of movement "You are small and the tendrils won't reach you thanks to the magic. Perhaps you can go and try if you can pull out those people Tje?"
The woman accommodates her elven crafted bow to her back and draws her sword "Afterwards we can root out the tendrils and bulb to the root with all means at our disposal"
Zanice |
I am taking back the Arcane Pool point I used to re-prepare Bladed Dash as the Xill was dead by the time I acted. Please let me know if you disagree.
GM Gustavef |
@Zanice No problem.
You cut open the Xenopahge Creeper, three unconscious humans and an elf are freed. However, with the death of the plant, the ship is no longer under its influence, and the crystal walls flicker. And you can hear/feel eldritch energies building up in the phase spike at the bow of the ship.
There is only a few minutes before the ship powers completely and phases back to the Ethereal plane, or where ever it was programed to go with what every may be stuck aboard.
Pandora Soulkeeper |
"I am taking the three humans with me! Let's hurry up before this place phases out!" the woman then touches the unconscious humans and uses her last high level spell to cast dimension door and bring herself and the humans out of the ship, into solid land if possible, or one of the boats otherwise.
Pandora only can bring 3 people with her

The Eldritch |
"I think we are done here then. Let's escape with haste!"
Eldritch does just that, and casts haste to help the party escape the ship!
The Eldritch starts running for it!
Therisah Bhakaduriatra |
"Did we get everything." Therisah will ask, checking through the room one last time before hurrying away.
Can use remaining ki points for some speed bursts if needed.
Zanice |
I can take three people as well. With that, Zanice uses two points from his Arcane Pool to re-prepare Dimension Door as a swift action, then grabs the freed elf along with Garmit and Therisah and casts DD to get out of the ship, targeting land if possible or one of the other boats if no land within ~ 840 feet.
Tje |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I will Shadow walk away with whoever else might be on board, aiming for the grand lodge in absalom, but Tje’s aims not perfect, so they’ll all land in the harbor.
GM Gustavef |
With enough magic and quick thinking you are able to get off the ship safely with the rescued people. However you do notice that they are all infected with Xill eggs
A remove disease spell (or similar effect) rids a victim of all implanted eggs or active young, or they can be cut out one at a time with DC 20 Heal checks (each attempt takes 10 minutes). If a check fails, the healer can try again, but each attempt (successful or not) deals 1d4 points of damage to the patient.
Therisah Bhakaduriatra |
Therisah has ranks in heal, Garmit/Pandora could aid her maybe? Is it something I could take 10 on?
Zanice |
How long do Xill eggs take to hatch? We could get some scrolls of Remove Disease at the Grand Lodge, or we could just keep healing these people on failure(s) to extract the eggs.
Zanice |
"I have healing to offer, though some object to the method, considering that it involves devil's blood. I figure since I have plenty of that running through my veins already, there's no difference putting it on my skin."
I can spend charges from my wand of Infernal Healing to enable the process.
Garmit |
"Cutting them out...I'm more of a stabber, not a cutter, but sure if you need someone to help guide the blade, I guess I could help."
Assuming Therisah is allowed to take 10 (or even if she isn't), Garmit will help with the procedure.
Heal(aid): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Heal (aid): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Heal (aid): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
GM Gustavef |
From what you know of Xill eggs it is about 24 hours. However while in the creeper they seem to have been suspended. However, you have least 12 hours so plenty of time to any resources.
You have time so Take 10 is allowed. And Aid.
At the safety of the Grand Lodge you remove the eggs from the captives. However The egg in one of the prisoners, if removed is discovered to not be a xill egg after all. Instead it is a small egg-shaped object constructed of some unidentifiable black stone. How it came to be in the victim is a mystery.
After leaving the ship it phase shifted back off to the Deep Ethereal for what ever mission it originally designed for.
The Lodge is happy with your report though wish they could have had more time to study the vessel. Though safely out of Absalom is a good for now.
