"The repeating splash of small waves crashing against you, and the rotting scent of seaweed finally wakes you up from a nightmare of drowning and visons of someone pulling you to shore.... You manage to sit-up, couching, and retching water out from your lungs as you feel a slight tugging on your foot. looking up through the haze of sleep you see a tiny crap-like creature tugging on your boot on a beach. Several other people on the beach are stirring from unconsciousness, as you realize your memories of the recent events that got you here are hazy and indistinct."
I will be closing the recruitment feb 16.
20 point buy
Characters are level 1
- no starting wealth (just write 15 items, none of which can be more than 50gp. you will roll randomly for starting items, class specific items will automatically be chosen (spell book, holy symbol, etc) and you cannot have more than two of the same type included. (scrolls, potions, weapons, armor, etc)
- All Classes allowed except Occult classes (you can submit a Occult class, if you crave a challenge to get picked, or if you feel you just got a blow me away concept,); and Using unchained classes rules,
- Core races, with tengu, catfolk, Grippi, and Monkey goblin added.
- NO third party publishing sources allowed!
- All other Paizo books will be allowed
- two traits (one must be campaign) can take drawback for additional Trait.

- Recruitment will be based more on RP than class preferences
- We will be using background skills.
- Hit Points max first level, 3/4th all subsequent levels.
- Please pay more attention to your background than your build. I am far more interested in who you are than what you are.
- evil characters will even be considered but only in terms of evil greed, lust, power, etc. not betrayal to your group. your character must be loyal to the group, this AP is very evil friendly if the party wishes. If you betray or cause too much trouble a crewmember can call a Black spot vote to kick you out at which point you will be executed and your treasure will be split.
- Will be using escalated Fear rules in Horror adventures.
- please include -5 min background-
1) I'd like 5 points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
- Please include a Example of writing with your submission-
must choose someone on the list during the voyage that you have gotten to know and write about a encounter on the ship. the characters are listed on Players guide (page 11)
The following are my preferred archetypes for my vision of this AP, I'm not against anyone choosing their own (like the druid class have several great ones, ape shaman, natures fang; ranger has trophy hunter, etc.) this is just to get people creative juices flowing seeing what I like and my vision for the AP. I chose one archetype that in my opinion best represented the AP.

Yeah. It's rough, especially with games that have been going strong for quite a while.
GM- what are your feelings towards Occult Adventure Archetypes? Same deal as with the classes themselves? I'm still trying to figure out what class I should go as, but I think personality-wise, I'm nearing an idea. Are we more likely to be selected if we have one of the listed archetypes, as well? Or should I angle my submission more towards one of those to increase my selection chances?
Also, you want a secret that the other PCs don't know. Should we PM you that, or just put it into a spoiler?

Darkwing_DM |

Just as a note Gm. one of the traits grants extra starting gold how does that go with your starting wealth rule? im not picking that trait, just curious honestly
That would fall under the class specific item for whatever you choose.

Occult is a option, however with the escalating horror rules you will be hard pressed to use full usage of Psychic abilities so you will find the AP rough, I thought it would be better to not use them, but your choice.
a spoiler is fine for secret.
Any archetype is fine, I am just a little biased to the ones that I feel fit well so I thought I would give what type I was looking for.
I'll get it up ASAP. Would Combat Stamina be available?
No combat stamina

Haji Hamidi Musaraji |

I've got the perfect character for this.
This is Haji, a wis-based oradin using the Tortured Crusader Paladin and the Ravener Hunter Inquisitor. The latter is a jungle-based archetype actually.
He hails from the Mwangi Expanse and grew up in the jungle. Ignore his current crunch as I'm also applying for a very different game with him.
But in the background I only have to switch from the WotR-specific part to what you requested.

BloodPaw |

Human, boarded at Ilizmagorti, along with Sasha Nevah
1) I'd like 5 points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
Aspiring Red Mantis Assassin
Devout follower of He Who Walks in Blood
Raised to be a great assassin and he is eager to prove those right
He wishes to explore the world, what better way to track and follow targets than to learn the layout of the world and get to know the people
Though devout, he is a rather pleasant fellow, not the best looking guy, but he has an approachable demeanour and he wont hide from a good drinking contest
He still needs to master his order's fighting techniques, but being out in the world he plans to practise these fighting styles as often as allowed
He also wishes to stay in contact with those at the port
He sports a nice scar across his left eye
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
Become a great Mantis Assassin
Perhaps, become a direct subordinate of the Mantis God himself
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
Secret he keeps : He seeks a ritual to perhaps turn himself into a higher form so he can serve his patron directly
Secret kept from him : He was chosen through a vision to the main priest of his order
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
Sasha Nevah : Befriended before leaving port
Gelik Aberwhinge : Drinking buddy, met on board and the love of drink soon bonded the two in stories and drunken shenanigans
Aerys Mavato : Keeps an eye on her, someone who keeps so much to themselves, especially on a ship with a close crew, must be hiding something
Ieana : She is hoarding knowledge, and since knowledge is power, he intends to try and take it from her.
Jask Derindi : Something familiar about the name, he just cant place it. He hopes to find out, he doesnt like it when things niggle him like this
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
The first memory he can actually remember, is when he arrived at the monastery doors, rain dripping from his old, tattered clothing. The lights from the open door the warmest he had ever felt
Training and reading all the lore of the Red Mantis, hours on end.
His graduation, and the two iconic weapons handed to him on that day
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
Snakes. Something about the way they slither, his, and the strange softness of their hide

When checking against the requirements, I realised Ratfolk weren't in the GM's allowed list of races. Rats! Anyway, by the time I realised that, Nali was already almost finished, so in good spirits, I'll post her anyway. Equipment beyond a rapier and studded leather will be added if the character is chosen at all.
Without further ado, I present to you:
Nali the Pie Rat
NE Female ratfolk swashbuckler inspired blade / wild strider
- Pirate, ship destroyed, sets own course now, underestimates bigger races, pack mentality
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
- realise pack is more important than treasure, slowly become kind hearted
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
- Nali keeps to herself that she was part of an infamous pie rat crew (grows nervous of discovery when served pies and will feign to dislike them)
- A secret kept from Nali is that the battle that set Vermintide aflame was actually won by her old pack, and that her old captain, Runt, now roves the seas in the ship the wizards originally were on. Calling it Vermintide as well.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
Allies: old crewmates, Enemies: pirate hunters, Villain NPC with great influence: Captain Runt, Currently friendly: Gelik Aberwhinge (Gelik is a gnome, so not a ‘dumb lump’ and tells great stories). Currently avoiding: Captain Covack and first mate Devers (both tend to give Nali orders to clean the deck, lower sails, or do other stupid chores)
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
- The warrens that were Vermintide, they were home. – The nightly boardings and the brutal raids, with much innocent blood, even children's blood, on Nali's rapier. – The fire that destroyed Vermintide and ended Nali’s life as she knew it.
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
- A great and irrational fear of any fire greater than a 5’ square. A racial unease towards giant snakes and giant birds.
-2 str, +2 dex, +2 int
Small: +1 AC, +1 to hit, +4 stealth, -1 CMB, -1 CMD
Surface sprinter: 30’ movement, low-light vision
Cleanliness: +2 save vs disease, and exceeding the disease save DC by 5 or more counts as two saves.
Swarming: Flanks target if in same square as another ratfolk, attacking the same target.*
Tinker: +2 on craft (alchemy), perception, and use magic device
*GM, I'm planning to take the scurrying swarmer feat in the future. If you disallow that feat, I'd like to swap Swarming for Cheek Pouches (another hilarious trait)
Traits:
Campaign – Boarded in the Shackles: +1 will save
Race – Scamper: gain 5’ movement and ignore difficult terrain in any first round of combat.
Ability Scores
Str 10 ... 2pts, -2 race
Dex 18 ... 10pts, +2 race
Con 12 ... 2pts
Int 14 ... 2pts, +2 race
Wis 12 ... 2pts
Cha 12 ... 2pts
FCB: +1 skillpoint
Feats:
Weapon finesse: rapier (bonus)
Weapon focus: rapier (bonus)
Fencing grace: rapier
Trained skills (7, plus 2 background):
Acrobatics +8
Craft (alchemy) +8

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'm going to submit a ratfolk pirate (pie rat, she thinks people call her, and really doesn't get that, because she doesn't even particularly like pie...) from the shackles. A swashbuckler inspired blade / wild strider.
ratfolk isn't in the core races or the alts, I will consider it though.
Please include a Example of writing with your submission-
must choose someone on the list during the voyage that you have gotten to know and write about a encounter on the ship. the characters are listed on Players guide (page 11)
For the paladins Divine bond ability
Under the mounts option it says with gm discretion you can pick more exotic options. Would you allow Hippo for that?
I'm Ok with that.

Darkwing_DM |

How frequent are you hoping posting will be?
What will we be using for maps? Google slides, roll20, theater of the mind?
Will crafting be allowed?
1. at least once a day excluding weekends
2. Google slides, and theater of mind (on some simple encounters.) (I have already created a folder for my slide uploads, so I should be covered on slides)3. yes.
Question regarding the 15 items: Does ammunition count as a weapon, or is ammunition a separate category?
the ammunition will be assumed to be with the ranged weapon with (20) count ammunition. if you want more than (20) then you can list it as a seperate item but not more than twice. each for a additional 20.

Alright, I will embellish.
Gelik Aberwhinge is an apt writer and storyteller, and Nali hadn't really heard anything about the world except from pack crew, and hadn't met many people without stabbing them. Even when going ashore, the Vermintide pie rats would usually do so en masse, and not really speak to anyone else.
So, Nali shirked most of her duties to be able to sit with Gelik and listen to him. She liked sitting by his desk, licking her fur clean. She did realise a certain loneliness, and being together with another small person made her feel better. Gelik, loving the thought of having a fan, even a furry one, took a liking to Nali. Sometimes Nali would speak of some of the ports or waters she had seen, and always Gelik knew some history behind it. Nali was much impressed by the gnome, and decided that he should be defended as if he were pack. She let him know exactly that by curling her tail briefly around his legs, one day. Gelik had responded with a gentle pat on the shoulder, so Nali was positive that Gelik felt the exact same way about the alliance.
At some point, Nali had been sitting with Gelik, and first mate Devers had told her he required her on the foredeck. Gelik had told Devers that Nali was assisting him at his request by reading his newest writing, and that Nali had been working hard already, that day. Incidentally, this was all true. But Nali still felt like Gelik stuck his neck out for her. Devers had scowled, put his arms up in frustration, and moved away. When at some later point captain Covack scolded Nali for being a lazy do nothing rat for sleeping on deck (unfairly, for she had been working the night) and Devers had given her an "I told you so" speach, Nali promised herself that in some harbour, those two might meet an untimely end by a certain sharp little rapier, if they wouldn't be careful.

Posting a 5 minute background for a half-orc enlightened and metamagic bloodrager (the older version of the enlightened archetype PZO9465.) I will finalize the backstory and add a writing sample assuming this outline is ok with you GM that way there is less rework if edits are requested.
- Struggles with controlling his anger
- Killed another student in a rage causing him to run away
- In time he finds comfort and guidance in saranrae’s teachings, though he currently worships no particular god

- Magic fascinates him
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
-Conquer and focus his anger
-Atone for killing other student
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
- He hides that he is a runaway and the killing of the student hidden
- He doesn’t know that his father is alive, his mother told him he died.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
- Family of the slain student wants him dead
- Shaman instructor wants him captured and punished for running away
- His mother is still in Port Peril and counselled him to run

6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
-Madness/loss of self control

Kobolum |

I don’t have a name or background for my character so I’m going to have to work those things out later but I wanted to put up a five-minute background for my basic concept.
I want to admit that I have read the Serpent’s Skull adventure path. I don’t remember the details but I do have a pretty good long-term memory so I know the outline of what’s going on in the background and why everything is happening. I also want to make it clear that my concept is because I’ve read the adventure path, I know what the end game is and I want to get this character that I have had in mind for years to that point.
• He is an Ekujae elf.
• He is a Mwangi nationalist.
• He is ambitious.
• He is xenophobic to non-Mwangi elves.
• He is an intellectual.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
• Become revered.
• Attain great wealth.
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
• He wants to build a Mwangi Empire, and he will do whatever it takes to do it.
• His former tribe had a bad habit of making enemies, and they decided to pin all of the blame on their Forlorn child.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
• A banshee he made when his former lover grew too obsessed with him and he had to kill her.
• The banshees sister who hates him for killing her sister and letting her turn into a banshee.
• He is well-respected by his former tribal leader even though that same tribal leader routinely sells him out to the tribe’s enemies and disagrees with him philosophically.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
• Leaving his former try because he realized he didn’t belong there.
• Visiting Mzali and becoming a nationalist.
• Killing his former lover
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
• Loud shrieking and other Mwangi elves. He knows his former lover and her sister are looking for him, both of whom were and are very well liked.

Darkwing_DM |

@kobolum - Its cool if you read it, I am adding what a lot of people thought should be added, a Mwangi freedom fighting group as a additional faction to allow a more protect the people from foreign opportunist for those inclined to take that approach. in addition I will be changing enough things to make it a little different.

Cαlαmity |

Still deciding on some key aspects of her backstory, will have final version up soon, which might or might not contradict certain elements below.
1) I'd like 5 points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
•Calamity is cursed with bad luck. She herself isn't terribly unlucky, but throughout her life, those around her have felt she is a curse upon them, a burden, a plague, a jinx.
•She has deepset abandonment issues, everyone she's trusted has left or disappeared. She can attach herself to people a little too much, as well as being too cold and distant (not in a brooding loner way, more like a frightened child).
•The first taste of freedom offered to Calamity was the Harrow. Lady Anamarinda had trusted the young halfling with her mother's deck, taught her how to read it. She clings to this deck like a life raft, trusting its advice over that of anything other, even though the cards- or her interpretations -are often wrong.
•Calamity spent ten years in the forests of Varisia, and has developed some skill for foraging, as well as swimming and fishing in the rivers and streams.
•Calamity is especially despondent because of the loss of Felicity Proudfoot, her newfound lover and mentor disappeared shortly after taking her to Magnimar three years ago. Calamity joined the Jenivere on this second voyage in part to put a long distance between her and the last woman to break her trust, never imagining that something horrible might have happened to the poor woman.
•In between being brought to Magnimar and joining the Jenivere’s crew, Calamity spent a year enslaved in Cheliax, and fought bitterly to escape. Returning to Magnimar in between voyages on the Jenivere, hoping against hope to find Felicity waiting for her, she was told only that Felicity disappeared the same day as she.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
•Find Felicity
•Gain confidence in herself and a sense of belonging among her companions
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
•Calamity can't read anything but the Harrow; while she pretends to be literate, she has never had formal education.
•Like Calamity, Felicity was captured and enslaved shortly after entering Magnimar and brought to Cheliax; she quickly escaped aboard a trade ship but has been marooned in the Mwangi Expanse for several years, having turned feral.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
•Lady Anamarinda, Calamity's adoptive mother. The old Varisian woman who twice saved Calamity's life and taught her to read the cards.
•Felicity Proudfoot, Society member and recent lover of Calamity who promised to bring Calamity into the Pathfinder Society before the tragic disappearance of them both. Both women believe the other to have ran away from the other.
•Apollus, Calamity’s captor and former owner. He feels personally slighted by the loss of his favorite punching bag and if given the opportunity will go to any length to put her back beneath his boot where she belongs.
•Alizandru Kovack, Captain of the Jenivere, who took her in out of generosity and has claimed her as his ”good luck charm,” in stark contrast to her own insistence to the contrary
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
•Calamity's own family abandoned her at the side of the road when she was only 10, blaming her for their decade of misfortune and hopelessness.
•Adopted by Varisian nomads, the caravan quickly turned on her as they developed a strange plague and forced her to undergo a trial. Though she was found innocent and allowed to stay, she learned to trust only Lady Anamarinda, her adoptive mother.
•While Calamity waited outside Heidmarch Manor for Felicity to introduce her to the Society, she was captured and sold into slavery in Cheliax; after a year of misfortune and abuse suffered at the hands of the Chelaxians, she escaped, finding her way back to Magnimar only to learn from the Pathfinders that Felicity had been missing for just as long. Rather than believe that the woman is out there looking for her, to Calamity it was evidence of her curse pushing people farther and farther away, driving them to need to abandon her one way or another.
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
•Being buried alive, being forced to watch people she cares about leave her, being found once again under the cruel whip of slave masters. But all of this pales in comparison to the thought of losing her beloved deck of Harrow cards.

Roland Payne |

So baggageboy here. Here's a profile for Roland and a writing sample. If you have any questions, comments, etc. just let me know. I'll be adding a list of items to the profile later.
Roland came aboard with a few silver pieces and little else to his name, However he looked strong and the crew what short, so Captain Kovack agreed to take him on as hand in exchange for his passage. Roland remembers well his introduction to Aerys.
The Captain had just agreed to take Roland on. "Oy, Mavato. This here's Roland. He's the newest member of the crew. He says he doesn't have any sailing experience though so you'll need to teach him his duties. IS everything ready for us to cast off?"
"Aye Captain, everything's ready to depart."
"Excellent, let us be off then."
Aerys had then directed Roland to help with raising the anchor. In the days that followed Roland was quick to do as Aerys directed, grateful to be leaving the port. Roland began drinking with the man when they were off duty. They began to develop a friendship of sorts though it lacked real depth. Roland was sparse about the details of his past and Aerys position prevented him form being too close to any of the crew. What friendship was there fizzled out when Roland got into a fight with another crew member.
Roland was lying in his bunk when he heard a group of crew who were playing dice to pass the time mention his name.
"Did you see that Roland hauling the sails today? He was pulling so hard he raised the sail practically by himself," one man had said.
"Yeah, but you know why don't you? He ain't exactly human now is he? You can see it in his face. Probably sired by a boar.
"No! You think? the first voice responded.
At this point Roland got to his feet and walked towards the voices.
"Aye, he's none to bright either," the second voice finished as Roland came into the doorway.
"If you have something to say, say it to my face Jones," Roland said with a dangerous edge in his voice.
"Oh yeah, or what? you'll sick you dog of a mother on me?"
Jones never had a chance, as soon as the words were out of his mouth Roland truck him knocking him to the ground. The rest of the crew on hand rushed to stop Roland, but there was little need. Seeing Jones fall to the ground Roland's mind had flashed back to the moment he'd struck Groten and he froze. When the Captain was called to deal with the fight Roland was sentenced to ten lashes. He bore them without complaint, his memory of his past more painful than the whips bite.
Later that night Aerys came and stood by Roland as he was swabbing the deck. "What the hell was that Roland?
"He... he deserved it. He said things you just... you just don't say.
Shaking his head Aerys said "You broke his jaw Roland!" the condemnation heavy in his words. "You can't do that, no matter what the man said. This isn't some pirate vessel."
With a sigh, Roland said "I know. I... I'm sorry."
"Well, Jones is next to useless with him moaning and whining about how hurt he is. I think he's playing it up, but I can't prove it. So you'll be doing his work as well as your own until he's recovered, understood?"
"Yes, sir"
With that Aerys turned and left leaving Roland to stew on his plight.

Blipp Blacktongue |

Kobold Klan here, This is Blipp, My Grippli Vivisectionist. They(Currently genderless) are an Alchemist fasinated in only 2 things: Poison and Flesh. They have little care about the morals of their work, only that they are in the presuit of their study.
When I was but a frogling... I was small... Small for my kind that is. The larger froglings would pick on me for my size... My mother didn't do anything, You see... They had the idea that the strong would snuff out the weak.... This clearly was a flawed view.
One day they bullied me and I learned I have a rare genetic mutation that allows me to secrete a venom from my skin. Those pond skum who had bullied me where soon sick and weak that it was a simple matter of hiding the bodies.
When I matured and the time came for me to choose my path in life... I was given no choice. They forced me into shamanhood. I hated it. The gods are fickle. I regretfully took the job- but soon found I had quite alot of power as a shaman in training... The elder teaching me was quite senile, and the fool allowed me to do whatever I pleased. I happily took up my true calling: Poison and alchemy.
Since shaman where expected to care for the dead, I had plenty of test subjects to see what various venoms did to the bodies of their victims. Then, I got to cut them up. It was my element... Until some filthy froglings poked their noses somewhere they shouldn't have. I was ousted... And sent fleeing with only my research and name.
Person known: Rambar Terillo
Place Boarded: Bloodcove Mwangi Expanse
When I boarded, It wasn't long before my skill with food became clear and I was aquainted with the ship cook. Honestly it is very tempting to start my work again... But it is far too soon, on a very small ship. It would become clear quite quickly where the poison was coming from... And I'm not exactly a good swimmer, especially this far out at sea.
For now I'll cook... I'll wait... And soon I will return to my work. I will perfect my art.
Mechanical-wize they will be a Sniper/sneak attacker. They will focus on stealth and poisoning enemies while being extremely deadly with a blowdart gun.
I will state that yes- They are neutral Evil. But they aren't the betrayal stab-your-friends evil... They are the poison children and sew arms onto living creatures evil.
Of course they won't do anything truely evil in front of the party- mostly in the background. So long as there isn't a palidan or overtly good party member in the group they should be fine in interactions. Most of the real nasty evil bits will come at higher levels.
They actually have a distaste for religion, and will likely find nothing in common to the typical Cult that comes along when dealing with Serpentfolk...

Sorry almost forgot this
1) I'd like 5 points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
1• An indescribable love for study- particularly of poison and anatomy
2• Sophisticated Savage
3• Small, Weak, and Stabby
4• Highly Analytical
5• Cold yet seems like they csre
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
1•I'd like to kill someone exclusively with poison, then possibly resurrect them as a Zombie- JUJU MAGIC!
2• To create an Anthropomorphic animal that doesn't die/stop being anthro after spell duration ends.
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
1• This Grippli is a sociopath, More interested in experimenting then actually helping the party.
2• this Grippli is still being hunted down by their tribe for their atrocious crimes.Blipp is unaware of this, Suspecting they would have given up.
3• -about their actual gender: I'd like to make this a mystery for the game- mostly for intrige. Therefore the character acts and sounds androgymous
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
1• The Shaman of their tribe-(no name yet) Their former "teacher" and probably the sole reason they are still being hunted
2• they had one former lover before they fled the tribe. Unfortunately this character is dead- killed by Blipp in order to keep them from following
3• Rambar Terillo- Mostly an aquaintance- Blipp would spend time with this character cooking- likely showing him ways to cook other than boil water
4•The Hunter coming after them- Possibly another Grippli, this one plainly good who will seek to inform the party of their crimes.
5•Their Tribe's Cheif- This Grippli may have killed the Cheif's son, or their son may have been their mate- and killed them. It's all a mystery (one of like to work out with you)
- I'm not typically good and making background characters: I myself don't k ow much more than 8 people- 3/4 of them just aquaintances
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
1•when they killed their bullies. It was done in secret, No one suspected them because they where weak... She fed them to a crocodile.
2• their studies and work- cutting boofies up in preparation to be buried.
3• their first mate and experience with love- they enjoyed it greatly- but purely physically. They felt no true feelings for their lover- hence why they killed them before fleeing.
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
1• poison... Ironically. Blipp has a deep fear that they may die by the very thing they study. It isn't an irrational fear- hardly. Up front they seems devoted to the study of poison because they seem to legitimately want to use it to advance medicine- when in truth they fear that they will be poisoned and die. They seek to make themselves immune to the poisons they study and therefore kill others with poison to try and determine how to best make themselves Immune to the poison.

Blipp Blacktongue |

Okay, so I was looking about, and realized I have Belledonna, but it's listed in multiple forms in multiple areas- after all... It is deadly nightshade.
I just want to confirm the version I'm using is the non-poisonous kind- Found here I do intend to pay full price for the actual poison eventually- But having the non-poisonous kind on me allows me to RP having the ingredients already rather than having to go look for it.

Henris Flynn |

Here is Phntm888's submission, Henris Flynn, Varisian Cleric of Gozreh. I included a healer's kit among my equipment list, since it doesn't consist of an assortment of equipment, but I haven't factored in any AC bonuses from armor or calculated anything with the weapons, since I don't know what I'll have.
Are we assumed to have a basic set of clothing?

Ammon Knight of Ragathiel |

Still Working on the Actual stats but This should be everything Rp wise which seems to be the more important aspect.
The Class i went with was Hunter, Race Grippli
Animal Companion/Mount: Bubbles the Hippo.
Build is going to be an Archer, likely mounted. and eventually if it goes that far into Mammoth rider.
The campaign Trait was Boarded in the Mwangi Expanse. As it's where Eko is from.
Concept and Background
1) Eko fancies himself a knight, he follows a code of chivalry and everything. He grew up on stories of heroes and took to tales of things like Mammoth riders and paladins. So he seeks to emulate that, doing so with his Faithful Companion Bubbles.
2) He rescued Bubbles from a animal fighting arena. The two have been inseparable ever since, training and working as a team. Bubbles tends to charge into combat alongside her master.
3) He follows the Tenets of Sarenrae as a knight would even if it grants him no benefits.
4) Eko Wears his armor and helmet when around others to obscure his race and appearance, not out of shame but to make himself look bigger and more intimidating toward enemies as well as making a point that race matters little, all that matters are your deeds and heart.
5) Despite this being his first real outing, he rarely shows fear. Though he is not without fear, his greatest fear is Mind control. Being unable to control his body and having evil done with it.
6) Eko tries to always be prepared for any eventuality, as such he learned to craft weapons and armor, though he is still a beginner he practices frequently as a hobby.
Goals
1) As of right now, he wishes to Investigate and discover the secret Sargava, believing there to be great evil for him to defeat in the region.
2) in the long term, As arrogant as it may seem, Eko wishes to become the worlds greatest hero And firmly believes he can accomplish this.
Secrets
1)Eko was evicted from his tribe for trouble making .I.E. the hippo, Revenge seeking bandits, ect.
2) Eko doesn't know Ruue is following him, he doesn't even realize that theres a grudge held.
Loyalties
1) The Tribe shaman, he was against evicting Eko due to how much protection and good connections he actually brought the tribe.
2) Sasha Nevah - He met her aboard the Ship, Seeing her somber Demeanor he worked nearly the entire time to try and cheer her up. Only to find its slowly working
3) Ruue Treeskipper- A Former member of his tribe that was caught stealing from the tribe. Eko turned him in getting him evicted. he holds a serious grudge.
Memories
1) "I AM HONOR!!" I shouted Riding down the streets astride Bubbles who stampeded past the civilians. i launched myself off, past the thief who had just robbed the man i would come to know as Captain Kovack. I tackled the man and flung the bad of coin back to the captain. This lead to myself and Bubbles being given free passage aboard his ship
2) I spotted one of my tribe mates, Ruue. In the food stores... He wasn't suppose to be on supply duty today. As i approached i saw him bagging up packs of food, i didn't want to tell, but duty demanded it. The tribe needed that food, he didn't seem very remorseful about his actions. ive always had a way with reading people.
3) I boarded the boat, seeing the women whom i would come to see as a friend, Sasha. She looked somewhat glum, i approached, telling her stories of my youth, not serious tales, but rather childhood stories. We drank and as time pasted began all manner of activities from sparring to drinking contests .
4) "I'm sorry Eko, you've brought this tribe much Trouble, even if unintentional. we have to ask you to leave child. For the tribes safety" I nodded, it was saddening having to leave, but i understood why. i collected ,my things and left without complaint. my parents had passed when i was young, and i had few friends besides Bubbles.
Eko is a kind and Just Frog Man. he has more muscle than most and is rather patient with people. Though he seems reckless at times, his moves are more thought out than people think.
Eko settled as the ship set sail, still sporting a helm. he kept out of the crews way, though he noticed one particular passenger like himself, somber. he approached, speaking in his normal fashion What seems to be the problem, fair maiden? She didn't respond, only looked at him as he sat down. Eko kept pushing, in a usual goofy fashion, until they both began laughing for seemingly no reason

Trogustiano Jeggare |

Noble Fop. Chelexian. Secret adherent of Abadar. Sheltered. Greedy. Coward.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
Grow to be less greedy and cowardly and become a strong man in control of his life.
Build a legacy.
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
He hides his religious inclination and his serious side, being the image of a good chelexian citizen has been all that has kept him alive.
He does not know that he was the product of an affair his mother has kept hidden all this time.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
His sister owns a merchant's guild out of Korvosa, they are on lukewarm terms as she thinks he is a useless fop. Isabella
His widowed mother back in Cheliax, treated him like dirt as he reminds her of the one thing she could not truly possess. Eliana.
A spurned lover and aspiring cleric of Callista who has vowed revenge. Roderick Maris
The house slip, and secretly his only real friend whipped to death in front of him. Kithlee.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
His memory of his mother's abuses heaped upon him.
The death of the only person who was ever kind to him.
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
Deathly afraid of being alone, especially in silence.
"Whatever you are drinking, it seems to not agree with you."
Gus replies weakly. "I don't drink."
The idea takes the half-elf by surprise. "Never seen a pampered noble that doesn't down his share of the good stuff. Can't handle it?"
Gus, happy to have the company and worried that she might leave him to his solitude tries heroically to hold back the nausea threatening to end this conversation short. "I don't like how it makes the words stop." He glances out to sea. "Words are all we have some days, why would I want to destroy the grandeur of the moon rising on the horizon or the usefulness of knowing how to chart by the stars, or how beautiful a lover's eyes are in the light of that moon and those stars. I could not imagine why I would want to reduce my memory of those things. It would hurt me too much."
A wrinkled brow, a moments thought, and the two would spend some time discussing words that night.

Paladin (Tortured Crusader)
TormentA tortured crusader’s great suffering in the face of inevitable horror strengthens her faith and resolve, even as it makes her introverted and far less personable than most paladins. A tortured crusader uses Wisdom instead of Charisma as her key spellcasting ability score (to determine her spell DCs, bonus spells per day, bonus on concentration checks, and so on), and to determine the effects of lay on hands.
Self-Sufficient A tortured crusader adds Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (dungeoneering), Knowledge (planes), Perception, Stealth, Survival, and Use Magic Device to her list of class skills, instead of Diplomacy and Handle Animal. She gains a number of skill ranks equal to 4 + her Intelligence modifier at each level, instead of gaining a number of skill ranks equal to 2 + her Intelligence modifier.
All Is Darkness Everything around a tortured crusader is so bleak that detecting evil only reminds her that the odds are always against her. A tortured crusader doesn’t gain the detect evil or divine grace class features. At 1st (level, a tortured crusader gains the smite evil ability, but she doesn’t add her Charisma bonus to attack rolls or a deflection bonus equal to her Charisma bonus to her AC against the target of her smite. At 2nd level, she adds a +4 bonus to attack rolls and a +4 deflection bonus to AC against the target of her smite.
Racial
Dual Minded The mixed ancestry of some half-elves makes them resistant to mental attacks. Half-elves with this racial trait gain a +2 bonus on all Will saving throws. This racial trait replaces the adaptability racial trait.
Multitalented Favored Classes: Paladin, Inquisitor
FCB Paladin 1x +1/2 level healing lay on hands

BACKGROUND
=================================================
Haji is the son of Elena and Hamidi. His young human mother was part of a diplomatic mission into the Mwangi Expanse of Andoran traders. She was only 15 years old and worked as a maid to a noble woman. His father was an elven native of the Alijae tribe, who fell madly in love with the young woman. However, this was not mutual and Haji's mother being overwhelmed with and much to young for the responsibility left her child with its father and returned home. She would eventually atone and become a nun.
The half-elven and half-Andoran bastard child was too much for the natives and deemed an evil omen. Father and son were exiled from the elven tribes. Hamidi loved his child above everything and fearing for their lives fled the tribal lands into the jungle, where he was sheltered by strangely benevolent fey creatures. They helped him feed and caress the newborn until it was strong enough to travel on. Finally, in outer Sargava, where Hamidi and his son settled down. He made a living as a mercanary for the Chelaxian colonials in an outpost village of peaceful settlers. The village Calahari was a dangerous place for both natives and settlers. An evil cult of the the demon lord Angazhan reigned over the land and raided and pillage at will. Haji was only five years old, when h father fell to a cultist's sword in protection of the village.
He was taken in at the local orphanage that belonged to the small Chelaxian church of Abadar. There, Haji recieved a more "western" education with a strong religious base. Haji respected this education and the Abadarian believe, but never became a follower as he was deeply connencted with the Mwangi spirits that his father worshipped. And until this day, he prays to them daily.
Haji was a difficult child. The abondonment of his mother and the death of his father made him angry. He was constantly picking fights with other kids or getting in trouble for running away. The local priest, Father Muril, took all his efforts and being a guide, teacher and surrogate father.
When he got older, Haji was so full of anger that he needed a focus. He started martial training. First on his own, later with the local soldiers, but he never felt like one of them. The Chelaxian were too much of an oppressor as that he would have ever allied with them. He was still picking fights, but now it was with monster around the village or with unjust soldiers. Almost every night he'd come home with at least a bruised eye that he got in a bar fight. The priest was of course not pleased, but at supported Haji nevertheless, because this at least kept him in check.
Eventually Haji left. His need to do good and his anger for his lost father made him a crusader against the Angazhan cult. So he went after them. One-by-one he brought them in and delivered them to justice. He always prefered non-lethal methods. He knew, if he ever stepped over that line and killed unneccesarrily, he'd be a lost soul. In addition to the physical pain he endured on his crusades, he was tortured by the violence he had to inflict on others. But he cannot stop as it was his duty to help the innocent and protect the village that gave him and his father refuge many years ago.
When he had erradicated the evil cult he didn't stop. He took on other, bigger evils, like jungle monsters or Mwangi necromancers. He even fought against chelaxian slavers and defended against raids by his own people.
Haji feels no fear and never stops. Every night he has nightmares. They come from the struggles he had to live with, the guilt of never being able to save everyone.
One day, Angazhan himself decided to take revenge and imprisoned him. For months he tortured the paladin in revenge and for pleasure. But Haji never stops, never gives up. Pure determination eventually led to his escape barley alive. Somehow, he managed to reach Calahari and took weeks to recover. But still, the physical and mental scars of his brush with death remain, and nightmares of what could have happened often plague his sleep. Strangely, some strange "infection" from the assault and captivity have made him even stronger than before.
The moment he could walk on his own feet, he started his hunt for the demon lord and his followers, who he knew would return and come for him and his friends. Two weeks later, when returning from an unsuccessful investigation into the mountains he found his village burned to the ground, the ashes still warm. Father Muril died in his arms within the orphanage's ruins.
With his bare hands he burried all 250 villagers.
Rumours of demon-worshipping halflings led him into the Kaava lands. A jungle from which usually nobody returns. About three weeks he combed the jungle until reaching the other end and the city of Bloodcove. Several dead ends led to the decision that he couldn't find the answers he was looking for. Therefore he decided to board the next ship back to Sargava. Surely, this was a much saver route than back through the jungle...
=================================================
5-MINUTE BACKGROUND
=================================================
LG doesn't mean nice; has lost everything twice; zealous demon hunter born in the jungle; healer first; will not kill unnecessarily, prefers justice
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game:
Bring Angazhan to justice / find love
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC:
He'd rather be an elf for the longevity / his mother returned a long time ago and lived close by, but never revealed herself, she is too ashamed.
4) 3 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc.:
Enemy: Demon Lord Angazhan and his followers
Friend: Captain Savoy, whom Haji trained with is about the only friend he still has.
Crush: Aerys Mavato
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
The Fey that took him in, when he was still a newborn which he for unknown reasons remembers / Death of his father / imprisonment in the Abyss.
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic.
A paladin is usually afraid of nothing. For Haji this is because he has already seen and endured more than a normal human being could imagine. He has also lost everything and everyone that he cared about. He fears neither falling nor dying. Both would be a relieve by now. One last thing will make him panic and rage: more losses and needless death that he could have prevented.

Example of Writing
=================================================
Haji was standing on the upper deck, looking into the horizon, hoping to not die of boredom. He held an empty cup of rum in his hand and had a bottle between his legs. And that was about the only thing the other passengers knew about him. He had only boarded two days ago and drinking and swearing was all he really did. But apparently he wasn't the only one doing so.
"You need a refill, too?" he asked the short-haired woman a few feet down the railing. Aerys Mavato was also a victim of the rum and was avoiding company, too. This intrigued him. And after closely observing her, he determined, she was quite the looker, too. She tried to hide her beauty behind heavy clothes and a veil of gruffness, but Haji can see behind people. He can see into their souls and he knew it was mostly a facade. "What demons are you trying to drown?... Never mind, it's not gonna work. Trust me, I tried. It's all useless. Life, death... Love, hate. Who really cares?... At the end, you're alone. And I'm past that end for a long time now." Haji actually fancied that mysterious woman that can hold more rum than most seamen on the boat. But if that was his best flirting act, he'd probably bunk alone again tonight...

Blipp Blacktongue |

Now ^That^ type of character would Clash With Blipp here: Somone who is bound by a code of honor to defend the law and vanquish evil.
Heh... I tend to make characters that would never work with a palidan in the group. As soon as Blipp mentioned poison and sneaking- the palidan would object and insist they give the enemies a chance. And that's not even taking into account the undead that will inevitably come from Blipp.
I read that background and I could tell...
Now if I did get put in a game with such a character- Blipp would act alot more secretive. They would secretly poison enemies, Harvest organs when No-one is looking, keep their experiments small and secluded- something the palidan wouldn't suspect. Now if he waves a detect evil around and finds Blipp fireing off like a cannon- it would inevitably be a game of cat and mouse. Your a palidan- yes you hunt down evil but you can't inact justice without evidence or reason. Blipp will give you no reason to suspect their nefarious goals...
It's an interesting way to Play- but I typically don't play such games because it creates party conflict... Which is also a good reason to do it as well- party conflict ultimately leading to more fun.
