GM Sasha |
Only 1 pilot and 1 navigation per vehicle.
Though Silver has gotten the hang of driving the enercycle and it only takes the group 1.5 hours to get back to the riverbed, it is beginning to get dark when you arrive back at the location. You arrive to find the tower is tipped and the crest-eater is next to the downed tower.
Umbro-187 |
Umbro, keys the ignition of the buggy and yells at Ko'Ka and Majko, "Get in here, we are running out of daylight. I need one of you to give me the navigational coordinates back to the first scanning tower."
Piloting: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Umbro brings the buggy to a complete stop when he sees the crest eater next to the first scanning tower.
"Unless someone has a better idea we are going to have to take the crest eater out or it will continue to knock over the scanning tower." Umbro says into his comm unit as he chambers a dart in his rifle.
True Silver |
"They can be difficult."
Speak with Animals "Allow me one more try. Don't shoot unless they attack first." True Silver cautiously approaches the crest-eater. "He there. What brings you back here? Why not try other feeding grounds? There's nothing here for you."
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Umbro-187 |
Seeing Silver approaching the crest eater Umbro stealthily moves to the large crater directly north of the crest eater and positions himself along the outer rim where he has cover.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Taking a prone position along the lip of the crater Umbro deploys the heavy bipod on his rifle. As he feels the dual prongs of the bipod take solid hold of the ground along the perimeter of the crater he activates his comm unit. "I've got you covered Silver. If the crest eater attacks get out of there as quickly as you can. We'll engage the target."
Sasha, I don't know if you will let me do all that before combat starts, but if you do it gives me full cover, prone position and my heavy bipod bonus all before combat even starts. Some GM's I've played with wouldn't allow me to basically buff myself so much before combat even starts.
Majko Ja |
The map is read only, if you wanted us to use it.
Majko walks along behind True Silver, hands held at her sides, palms up and empty. No weapons here, nope. She whispers into his mind. "I've got you, friend. This time it seems a bit angrier..."
GM Sasha |
Alright, I fixed the no editing thing. You all should be able to place yourselves and such. Umbro, you can totally set up, but I am unclear how you can have total cover and be able to shoot at enemies.
The crest-eater does not respond well to Silver’s words this time. It growls and attacks.

Sorry not total cover, just cover since I'm in the crater, but lying inside the outer edge with just my rifle and head peaking out over the rim if that is possible. I guess it depends on how steep the crater's walls are.
Darkrunner-42 |
Only 1 pilot and 1 navigation per vehicle.
Apologies, I misinterpreted your previous "yes" as to my question about needing the extra rolls to get back over the hills obstacle.
Umbro-187 |
Shocked at the violence and speed of the crest eater's assault on Silver Umbro still reacts without hesitation. The rest of the team hears Umbro's voice on their comm units calmly state in a flat tone, "Going loud."
With the stock of his rifle firmly tucked into his shoulder Umbro squeezes the trigger and feels it recoil twice as he sends darts with their lethal cargo of acid inside downrange.

Darkrunner-42 |
Darkrunner runs west, getting just in range of the crest easter while punching commands into his datapad. Just as he arrives at his desired vantage point his datapad lets out the incredibly loud roar of a creature that could pass as the crest eater's predator. if there is any such thing, but anyway this is just flavor for trick attack.

Majko shakes her head. "Typical. Here we go." She runs to the side of the creature, drawing her singing disk as she goes. Spinning in place like a shotput thrower, she lobs the sharp frisbee at the enemy. With a whistle, she calls it back to her hand.

Umbro thumbs the fire selector switch on his rifle to full auto and unloads a burst on the crest eater.

Zak Freelan |
Zak has no range weapons as his flare gun is out of ammo and spare ammo, so he moves around a bit, so that he will be able to move and hit the creature. He does not want to doublemove into melee with the creature, cause if he enters melee, he will want to attack on the same round, so he sets himself up for a single move towards the creature next round. PS. This guy is a credit pusher, that is why he has so little gear, hoping to save up for the big stuff.
Darkrunner-42 |
Darkrunner runs to close more of the distance, but still not getting too close to the cresteater.
Hmm, it's not swayed by sounds of a predator. Maybe it can be distracted by the sounds of it's common prey.
He goes back into his datapad for a moment, seeing if he can distract it differently to gain advantage for his next shot.

Crest Eater -46
Everyone is up!
Umbro-187 |
Umbro's face shows no outward sign of emotion as he sees Zak go down under the furious assault from the crest eater. Calmly he steadies his hold on the grip of his rifle and aims down the barrel before letting loose another burst of fire.
This crest eater is nasty!

Umbro-187 |
Zak I think you get to take your turn before the crest eater bites you in half. So technically maybe you can kill it before it kills you.
Darkrunner-42 |
It's going to be more of the same, always just the fun of RP'ing what exactly a trick attack entails.
I am now fully unsure of how to distract this creature. Perhaps I'm too focused on replicating sounds from nature altogether. Let's make the creature think that it is near a cosmopolitan night club in a dense urban city.
Darkrunner goes back to his data pad and this time dials up some visual light effects to go along with the monotonous dance-club beats, utilizing the "flashlight" function with disco colors and aiming it at the beast.
oonz ooonz ooonz ooonz ooonz...

"Darkrunner and Majko get that scanning tower back up and running."
Umbro swiftly moves to where Zak is lying unconscious. Dropping his backpack to the ground he digs a healing serum mk. 1 out of one of its numerous pockets. Crouching down he injects Zak with the serum.
Healing Serum mk. 1: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Exhausted now that the adrenaline from the encounter has flowed out of his veins Umbro turns to Koka, "You got any more of those peanuts?
Darkrunner-42 |
Sigh What's to prevent more creatures from undoing our progress further? Do the rest of you want to scout the perimeter for additional threats? I'll get to work now...
He walks over to the tower, first eyeing it for damage from the fall.
Help me stand this up... he says to Majko as they get started.
Engineering, fix the tower: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Computers, re-calibrate tower instruments: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
