[ACG] [Outpost II] Season of Tapestry's Tides (MorkXII)

Game Master MorkXII

Feat Limits:
Skill: Tier
Power: Tier+1
Card: Tier+1

151 to 200 of 222 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | next > last >>

Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Hero Point: Save.

Deck upgrade:
Ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 485
Ally 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 831

Deck Handler // Tier 5.5 // 7 hero points

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 4 Nope.

Save the hero point, I'm at my feat cap anyway until Tier 5.

Ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 308 Replace Marianix Karn with Vizier. I love "examine and optionally explore" powers, and making it a reload for the examine only makes the card effectively free. Another power makes it far more likely for me to be able to acquire spells which may be beneficial due to having two spellcasters in the party. I do like Karn's ability to add 1d6 against Barriers, but it's more situational than Evangelist (although the latter only adds 1d4). Having both around doesn't make sense in a post-Core world.

5-4A: SENGATI’S REVENGE - Olenjack Rewards

Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 1 -> None, due to the new Boon payout rules.

Tier Progression: (4.3) Olenjack gains a Hero Point.
Olenjack now has 4 Hero Points.

Scenario Reward: If we can shuffle a basic into our deck instead of our starting-plunder from the 1B reward, then the ship seems tempting. Even if we can't, we don't get much tangible benefit from a single Plunder on average anyhow, and our regular ship penalises my evasion power.

On the other hand, we haven't ever struggled during this AP, so we don't need to trade away possible rewards for small efficiencies.

Olenjack's Deck Upgrade preferences are as follows...

  • Item 3: Replace Masterwork Tools with Bloodroot Poison (Curse) (Ultimate Equipment). Item 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 598
  • Ally 3: Replace Master Cartman with The Viper (Ultimate Equipment). Ally 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 769

Olenjack replaces the following Empty Card Slots.

  • Empty Spell Slot 1 with Call Potion (Ultimate Equipment, Spell 0).
  • Empty Spell Slot 2 with Delve (Ultimate Equipment, Spell 2).

(Maznar also has an empty spell slot now.)

  • 5-4A - Sengati's Revenge Summary:

Hero Point saved. Used: 0 Remaining: 4
    Deck Upgrades: Item 3

Enora would like either a Blessing 4 (of the Seventh Veil) or Spell 3 (Volcanic Storm).
No interest in a loot Ally.

5-4B: TO WOO THE CREW - Olenjack Rewards

    Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 11 -> None.

Tier Progression: (4.4) Olenjack gains a Hero Point.
Olenjack now has 5 Hero Points.

Scenario Reward: I'm conditionally interested in Ederleigh Baines, depending upon the scenario.

Olenjack's Deck Upgrade preferences are as follows...

  • Blessing 4: Replace Blessing of Hshurha with Blessing of the Savored Sting (Ultimate Equipment). Blessing 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 70
  • Ally 3: Replace Master Cartman with The Viper (Ultimate Equipment). Ally 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 704

  • Empty Spell Slot 1 with Call Potion (Ultimate Equipment, Spell 0).

  • Maznar 5-4B: TO WOO THE CREW

Takes a Hero point and stashes it.

    Deck ugrade roll:
    Ally 4 (Pterandon for Toad): 1d1000 ⇒ 796

Looks like we have plenty of Ally 4s to go around.

    Agna's Deck Handler

    Scenario 5-4B Reward:
Agna is not interested in the non-Animal loot allies.

    Tier Reward:
Spend Hero Point on Skill Feat: Wisdom [ X ] +1

    Deck Upgrade:
    Weapon 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 674 Seaborne Trident +1
    Weapon 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 228 Invigorating Kukri +1
    Ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 621 Lizard

    5-4B Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 4

    Deck Handler // Tier 5.5 // 7 hero points

Spent a hero point but got it back, so still at 4. Not interested in deck upgrades. For loot allies, I'm potentially interested in Lady Cerise Bloodmourn but wouldn't be a pick I'd always take -- would depend on location composition.

    Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Unfortunately, that's a no this time around.

    5-4B boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 16

    5-4C: Inahiyi’s Nightmare - Olenjack Rewards

Tier Progression: (4.5) Olenjack gains a Hero Point.
Olenjack now has 6 Hero Points.

Scenario Reward: I am highly interested in the Loot Item reward we get. However, I also acknowledge that it'll work great for virtually any member of the party (it's 3 free explorations and ally acquires, as long as you don't have an item you mind banishing when you trade for it).

By and large, I'd prefer the Loot to go to someone who both wants it and it will perform very well for.

    Quick-and-Dirty Analysis:
The loot card is, by the way, the Immortal Dreamstone. It's like the Emerald Codex, but for allies.

Jirelle: Her emphasis on rerolls and her diverse skillset means she can make great use of bonus explorations - capable of defeating monsters, barriers, acquiring cards and closing checks all in one character.

Enora: Can often run short on cards in deck; extra allies (either displayed or drawn) gives a bit more buffer to how she can afford to spend her turns and cards. Plus, she's the single best anti-barrier character in the party (as of her last power feat), and so she can leverage bonus explorations to demolish threatening barrier-heavy locations with ease.

Maznar: Can be used to greatly increase his chance of drawing an Animal ally from the box, in case he doesn't start with one. Special advantages with Animals.

Agna: Can be used to greatly increase her chance of drawing an Animal ally from the box, in case she doesn't start with one. Even greater advantages with animals than Maznar (since she also recharges them on use), and can use additional explorations well since her use of Weapons (rather than spells) means she can handle more combat checks in a row.

Plus, her inherent animal ally bonus means she's flexible and well-suited to handling large quantities of barriers and boon acquisitions in a single, long turn. Plus, she features self-healing; great when you're chain-discarding a bunch of allies

However, she has precious few (and highly valuable) Item slots.

Olenjack: Loves to chain-explore, and loves holding as many allies as possible. Regardless of the ally's traits, he can leverage them for evasion or check support. He has a large quantity of items (so he can certainly afford to trade one for Loot) and is uniquely well-suited to searching out this Loot card from his deck (Blessing of Kofusachi and Delve); so it'll never end up unused over the course of a scenario.

It's probably worth noting that I'm happy to take it (given my searching abilities and extra items), and then intentionally search it out to give away to a party member, if we think that's an optimal use. I can see the merits!

Summary: I have a high interest in it, but I think everyone can leverage it well. I'd like to have a team discussion on this, but we can always roll for it - or share it over time from scenario-to-scenario - as needed.

Olenjack's Deck Upgrade preferences are as follows...

  • Item 3: Replace Liquid Blade with Wayfinder (Ultimate Equipment). Item 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 47
  • Ally 3: Replace Master Cartman with The Viper (Ultimate Equipment). Ally 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 611

Olenjack replaces the following Empty Card Slots.

  • Empty Spell Slot 1 with Call Potion (Ultimate Equipment, Spell 0).
  • Empty Spell Slot 2 with Delve (Ultimate Equipment, Spell 2).

  • Happy to cede Immortal Dreamstone to Olenjack as well.

    Hero point saved.

    Deck upgrades:
    Spell 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 456
    Spell 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 117

I'd like Spell 4 (Cloudburst) or Blessing 4 (of the Seventh Veil)
I'll defer to everyone else on the Immortal Dreamstone; if we're sharing it, I'd rather be using it after my next item Card feat anyhow.
    Saving hero point.

    Deck Handler // Tier 5.5 // 7 hero points

Jirelle could take the dreamstone, but it’d be replacing either Masterwork Tools or Emerald of Dexterity, both of which are rather good. As such if Olenjack believes he has better items to get rid of for it, he should take it instead.

Tier Reward: Hero point (saved, now 5)
    Deck upgrades:
Blessing 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 360 Blessing of Abadar -> Blessing of the Vaultmaster

    Not interested in other upgrades.

Good news; by the way! Olenjack's finally been FAQed and can no longer 'heal' his full discard pile by revealing Tears of Death. Just in time; I just hit Tier 5.

    Saving hero point.

Summon Hellhounds is a great and powerful spell conceptually... and also a spell that I've never once seen used, probably for good reason.

    An Aside:
The more people working together and gaining its benefits, the more crippling the literally deadly downside of it can become. If you had plenty of self-healing, or even benefits from dying (like Nyctessa, or if you have Phoenix Cloak out), then it's certainly workable, though. Even aside from supporting your allies; it lets you leverage weaker but re-usable methods of attack like Sphere of Fire or Flame Staff (Core) and still pass long series of combat checks without having to cast more spells.

Eh, let's give the hellhounds a try. I'm likely to replace either with Fire Barrage at some point this adventure, so let's maybe have some fun in the meantime.

    Weapon 5: 1d1000 ⇒ 704 Replace Acidic Whip +1 with Keen Rapier +3
    Ally 5: 1d1000 ⇒ 680 Replace Sorrowsoul with Fortune-Teller

    Deck upgrade - Ally 5: 1d1000 ⇒ 296
    Deck upgrade - Weapon 5: 1d1000 ⇒ 206

As for Hero points; am I up to a power feat? I can't remember what I can add at this point.

    Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 20 Indeed!

    [Dice=Boon?]1d20 Indeed!

You may expend a hero point (when, and only immediately when) you earn one from a scenario to gain any feat of your choice.

All of us have the following limits for feats, that cannot be exceeded.

Skill: Equal to our Tier (5, for now)
Power: Equal to our Tier+1 (6, for now)
Card: Equal to our Tier+1 (6, for now)

You should have earned 5 power feats by now, and you can take a 6th right now.

Thank you to EmpTyger! I'll pass on future deck upgrades in return - this Item 5 is the most important card this AP for me, in my opinion.

For that matter, it's the best card in my Class+Ultimate decks, hands-down.

5-5A: Air and Water - Olenjack Rewards

Tier Progression: (5.2) Olenjack gains a Hero Point, and expends it to check off the following Card Feat...
    ALLY 5 [X] 6 [ ] 7

(I've always thought that you just have an empty slot when taking a Card Feat, which is then filled after you've completed your rewards/Deck Upgrades if necessary as per the Hierarchy. Apparently - at least as of the latest Card Guild Guide - that's not the case; you fill it as soon as you get it, even if you haven't taken Deck Upgrades yet.)

  • New Ally Slot with Old Salt (2) (Rogue CD, Ally 0).

Olenjack still has 4 Hero Points.

Scenario Reward: Added to Deck Handler.

    Boon Roll 5-5A: 1d20 ⇒ 2 -> No dice.

Banished Cards: Immortal Dreamstone/Sacred Candle (Item), Blessing of Besmara/Blessing of Wadjet (Blessing), Delve (Spell)

Olenjack's Deck Upgrade preferences are as follows...

  • Item 5: Replace Empty Item Slot with Robe of Items (Ultimate Equipment). Item 5: 1d1000 ⇒ 564
(As mentioned, I'll hold my future deck upgrades at a lower priority - particularly if/when they conflict with EmpTyger)

Olenjack replaces the following Empty Card Slots.

  • Empty Spell Slot with Call Potion (Ultimate Equipment, Spell 0).
  • Empty Blessing Slot with Blessing of Wadjet (Ultimate Equipment, Blessing 0).

  • It looks like during Adventure 5 Maznar will be able to gain in any order: 2 skill feats, 1 power feat, 1 card feat.
(It seems like he skipped a skill feat at some point? Everyone else has 4, he only has 3.)

Yep, looks like EmpTyger is correct. I also noticed that I made a mistake and wrote down that Maznar saved a feat in 4E, but he used it for a power feat. I've corrected that in my tracker.

Thanks. OK then, taking a Skill feat:

    Wisdom [X] +4

    Agna's Deck Handler

Per Hangouts chat, Agna made a mess of her feats. Before the end of this scenario she had 4 Skill feats, 4 Power feats and 5 Card feats. Her correct scenario rewards should be as follows:

    Scenario 5-5A Reward:
Hero Point + Stash an extra plunder card each scenario.
Spend Hero Point on Card Feat: Ally [X] 7

    Deck Upgrade:
    Weapon 5: Huntsman's Greatsword +2

Add ally: Monkey (Ranger AD#3) to fill empty ally spot.

    5-5B Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 16 No luck.

Maznar is going to go for a Spell 5 to add Breath of Life, to add some insurance for the party in case of death: 1d1000 ⇒ 704

If that doesn't work out, he'll pass on upgrades for now.

Banking that Hero Point. No interest in the loot.

My first choice would be Item 5 (Evocation Staff), but could also take Spell 5 (Eagle Aerie).
Feat will be Power (Hand Size 8).
    No interest in the loot.

    5-5B reward: 1d20 ⇒ 8
    Nope

    Agna's Deck Handler

    Scenario 5-5B Reward:
Hero Point will be spent on Power Feat - You may reveal an ally that has the Animal trait to add 1d4 ( [ X ] +1)( [ X ] +2) to your check.
No interest in either loot card.

    Deck Upgrade:
    Weapon 5: 1d1000 ⇒ 578 Vicious Double Axe +1

    5-5B Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Change of heart: will take Power Feat below:

[X] Reduce Poison damage dealt to you to zero.
