Pangea takes a peak in the telescope...

Nole, a bit more focused on the mission now that he's loosened up a bit, will quietly sidle over to the closest computer terminal and start scanning through whatever's on the screen, looking for any mention of the word Consortium. "This place is definitely cool. Those lousy scientists...what do they normally do here? Like, look at the stars 'n' stuff, or do they look directly at the sun like mama said not to do..."

Nole, a bit more focused on the mission now that he's loosened up a bit, will quietly sidle over to the closest computer terminal and start scanning through whatever's on the screen, looking for any mention of the word Consortium. "This place is definitely cool. Those lousy scientists...what do they normally do here? Like, look at the stars 'n' stuff, or do they look directly at the sun like mama said not to do..."

Nole looks over the computer terminal and sees nothing regarding the Consortium. All you see are screens full of scientific measurements of the nearby sun. Temperature variances, solar flare frequency, seasonal changes in size, locations of sunspots and so on. It becomes very apparent to you that this computer terminal is dedicated to the study of the sun and wouldn't contain the data Historia-7 sent you to recover.

Envar sidles up to you and slaps you on the back, You said it!! Those scientists don't know how to have ANY fun!! And when they look at the sun, they use a filter!!! Pffffffttt!!!! Where's the fun and challenge in that??? None I say!!! Me? I'm a rebel and I don't follow the rules, ya know what I mean!??!"

And with a big show of bravado and defiance, Envar turns to stare directly into the sun!!!!

....on one of the video screens, that is.....

"Yah BABY!!!! I'm invincible!! INVINCIBLE!!! OWWWW!!!!" Envar loses his balance as he throws his arms up in triumph staring at a video screen and fall to the ground knocking his head.

Tolmu, Rin and Gamuzali, will you be staying in the previous room?

Pangea steps back, rubs his eyes, and has another look: "People...?"

Gamuzali follows along into the next room and finds Pangea using the telescope. "Ah! The sun! The source of life and energy, and equally capable of destroying that life as well. Could I have a look, Pangea? I have never been this close to this system's sun, and I would love a chance to know her power better."

After looking through the telescope for a moment himself, Gamuzali turns his attention to Envar and to the mission at hand.

"Hey bro, I've been lookin' around at this sweet place and it got me thinking. What's the deal with your mom's company? I mean, it's great she makes all those sweet creds so you can have a rockin' office and party harder than anybody ever, but like, what do they even do? What's the point, ya know? I just wish I could figure out what they're doing all the time."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Doh!

Pangea smiles at Gamuzali: "A perfect place for you!"

Tolmu wanders in, "Ah the sun. Blessed be the Goddess, Sarenrae."

"Oh. Here we go. Preach to the self-harming drunk about the goddess of light and healing and stuff. If you ask me it's all a bunch of mumbo jumbo bull crap made up by somebody to make a quick buck."

Nole then walks over to the telescope and looks in it after hearing Pangea's small curious outburst. "Would....would ya look at that. That's.......I may have to start praising Sarenrae if that's really.....that's really somethin. Wish I could walk on the sun!"

Pangea tries to point out, amid the dark sunspots, beautiful solar flares, what the android thinks are little roughly humanoid shapes popping in and out of sight as well.

"Hey bro, I've been lookin' around at this sweet place and it got me thinking. What's the deal with your mom's company? Envar stands up and wanders over towards the telescope. "Heeey bro!! It's ALLLL about the sun, y'know?? Solar energy is sol hot!!! Get it? Sol? Hot??" He slaps the telescope laughing at his own joke.

Suddenly, a holo-projection of Ilia Tamm appears near the telescope and announces, “Guest safety is important to Arch Energy. Only authorized personnel may enter this restricted area.”

Envar saunters over to the control panel and lounges in one of the hovering chairs within the console area, spinning it and giggling. “Mother,” he addresses the projection of Ilia, “you never let me play this game when I was a kid. Finally, I’ll get my high score! Check this out!” Envar mashes the buttons on the control panel. A loud droning sound fills the room, and the floor vibrates. The sun above appears brighter as a shield lowers. Next thing you know, a pair of humanoid fire creatures materialize and attack you!!

Whew! Good thing he didn't open the airlock or you'd all be exposed to the vacuum of space! NPC image unmasked and map updated with NPC tokens.

Um...nobody's weapons including the fire creatures? Are we sure they're attacking us, then?

Gamuzali moves between one of the fiery creatures and Tolmu as his stellar mote shoots into his hand and erupts into dark, swirling energy.

"Back off," he shouts at the creature surrounded by purple-tinged flames, "You're not the only one here who's power grows with the sun!"

Move action to take a guarded step out of flank and draw my weapon; standard action to attempt to Demoralize purple

Well, none of the party's weapons are drawn. The fire creatures are made of fire - they don't seem to need weapons when they're made of fire!! And yep, you're sure they're attacking you! If you want to retcon your standard action to an attack, please feel free.

And yes, I forgot to reveal their image on the slides. They're visible now!

One more detail. Everyone who begins their turn or enters within 10 feet of the fire creature please roll a DC11 Fort save. So presently Gamuzali, please roll a Fort save.

Using the telescope controls to distract the solar apparition, Pangea moves to the side, drawing its pistol, and fires into the fiery mass, hoping not to go right through and hot ole' Nole.

Standing near the fire creatures, Gamuzali feels the heat of solar radiation emanating from it. You realize that staying too close will give you sunburns...

Gamuzali's impressive display causes the purple creature to whimper and shrink down a little!! It appears shaken!

Pangea's was caught off guard by the sudden appearance of these two fire creatures as neither did his sneaky tricks nor his shot land as intended!!

The purple creature, although looking a bit unsure of itself, nevertheless lashes out and successfully slams Gamuzali for 10 points!!

"Pah! Does anybody feel a draft in here?" With that taunt, Gamuzali unleashes a full assault on the elemental standing in front of him.

Lost touring amongst the stars, Rin hears the shouts from the other room and rushes to his Starfinder companions aid.

Nole screeches in pain from the sudden appearance of the creature before withdrawing under the telescope screaming "HOT! HOT! HOT! IT'S SO HOT! AAAAAAH!"

Tolmu moves to escape the radiation...

...and tries to figure out what these are...

Pangea determines that these elementals have elemental immunities and are also immune to fire. Tolmu determines that they are vulnerable to cold.

Gamuzali swings but finds the elementals too quick and nimble, both swings missing!

Everyone else repositions themselves away from the solar brilliance emanating from the creatures. However, Nole and Tolmu do get burned from the creatures' aura taking 4 and 2 points of damage, respectively.

"If you're not careful, you're going to ruin my nice pale complexion," Gamuzali scoffs as he continues his assault on the purple elemental.

Pangea's bag of tricks manages to cause the red elemental to flinch... right into Pangea's oncoming bullet for 8 points of damage!

Gamuzali swings viciously, missing with his first attack but his follow-up attack lands for a solid 10 points of damage!!

Nole looks to the solarion and says "THAT LOOKS LIKE IT HURTS! NEED SOME HELP?" Standard action to heal Gamuzali for 5 SP. Not much, but it's something.

Nole then thanks the mystic next to him. "Thanks. You mystics aren't half bad."

Nole spends his move action drawing his tactical semi-auto pistol from his sidearm pouch and begins to take aim.

Nole, unfortunately you won't be able to do an inspiring boost.

Inspiring boost: As a standard action, you can signal an ally within 30 feet who has taken damage from any attack made by a significant enemy (see page 242) at any point after your last turn ended.

You're currently more than 30 feet away from Gamuzali and he didn't take damage between now and the end of your previous turn. This last point is a bit tricky as well when I first started playing.

So for this round, I'll bot Nole, who pulls out his pistol and.....

BAM!!! Nole fires back at the red elemental that nearly knocked Nole out!!

Unfortunately, elemental immunities means they're immune to critical hits.

Rin's shot hits the red elemental for 5 points of damage!!

Tolmu moves up to Nole and brings him back from knocking on death's door!

Nole opens fire at the same red elemental and lands a tough shot for 5 points!!

Gamuzali takes another hit from the red elemental before Pangea's shot takes the creature down. "Brr! It's getting positively frosty in here," he sneers at the remaining elemental as he ignores the pain of his dislocated shoulder. Once again, he unleashes a series of strikes at the purple elemental, hoping to finish the fight for good.

The remaining elemental dies as much from hurt feelings as from the two powerful weapon blows delivered by Gamuzali!!

Combat Concluded!!!

Rin Jabo rushes over to the controls Envar was fiddling with and Rin quickly brings the dimensional shield back up, preventing any more solar elementals from materializing within the observatory.

Envar says, "Wow!! That was a-MAZING!!! You Musty Meringues are by far the best group of gladiators I've ever met.... within the past half hour! Well done, well done!!!" He takes a selfie with all of you (him being front and center of course) then posts an infosphere-wide update that reads, 'Envar and friends 1, Sun 0.'

"Y'know... ehhh... After that little incident with the fire people, maybe it's best we depart from the observatory, yes? But feel free to check out the shelves in this room and the next. You can take anything you find as a reward. And don't worry, as a ranking officer of Arch Energy, I'm legally allowed to offer you company property. You aren't breaking any laws by taking these items. After all, I'm an expert and I know all the best laws!!"

On the shelves, you find: an armorcrafter engineering specialty tool kit, a fire extinguisher, 2 high-capacity batteries, and 2 basic medkits.

Envar uses his passcard and retina scan to open the door to the next room. Inside, you see a chamber with gold metal flooring. Metal shelving covers the eastern walls, while four mounted telescopes fill the center of the room.

Here you find a locked storage unit.
Please give me engineering or computer rolls to bypass the storage unit's lock.

Feel free to RP the combat's conclusion, perform your exploration of these rooms, take a 10 minute rest, and otherwise resist the urge to beat up on Envar....

Gamuzali lets out a victorious battlecry as the remaining elemental falls to his stellar strikes. "Looks like my star shone the brighter today," he says to the defeated creatures. He takes hold of his wounded shoulder and shoves it back into joint with a grunt of discomfort. "Alright, moving on, eh bro?"

Before following Envar into the next room, Gamuzali points out the spy drone to the others. "Bet we could use that to get some of the intel we're after," he whispers to Rin and Pangea. "You guys are all tech-savvy. Maybe you can get it working for us."

After moving into the next chamber, Gamuzali finds himself a nice bit of wall to lean against and takes a break.

Tolmu, if you were already planning on spending the spell on me, I wouldn't mind some HP healing as well. If you'd rather save the spell slot, though, I do have a couple healing serums I can use on myself.

Tolmu moves to GanuZali's side and casts Mystic Cure on him...

Gamuzali gives Tolmu a little tip of the hat sign to thank him for the healing while he takes his wall-nap.

"Tolmu, you should take the Medkits, you can use 'em, right?
I'd be happy to have the fire extinguisher, with the heat around here it can come in handy!"

Pangea goes up to the locked unit.
And fiddles with it...
Engineering: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Pangea looks for hinges to undo, but finds the box seamless. Then you attempt to lift the box to find the battery compartment, but find it welded to the ground. Next you probe the box for a weak spot to punch through but it turns out to be solidly built. You then see if there's some way to mechanically pick the lock but the mechanism is hidden away internally with no access. Desperate, you try one more idea - default factory settings! You enter the passcode: 1 2 3 4 5

The now-opened storage unit contains: 3 sets of casual stationwear, a standard hideaway limb (arm), a radiation buffer armor upgrade, two sprayflesh cans, and a least graviton crystal.

Envar continues talking to the group, "Well, the official tour of the station is almost over. I've taken you to all the good spots and skipped the boring levels. Anywhere else you'd like to go before we depart - you to your next battle and me to my next... ummm... Well, I'm just going to do all the same things all over again, really..."

"Envar, you have been an amazing host, truly the best. Combat for us to practice our gladiatorial skills, food, booze, again, amazing you are."

Stepping over to put his arm on Envar's shoulder, Rin continues "Now before we go off to our next glorious victory, I realize I forgot to do some business transactions that are a bit critically timed. I don't want the party to stop, so any chance I could use a data terminal for a while?"

Whispering conspiratorially, "Also my friend, I'm not sure I'd call this business strictly puritanical if you catch my drift. What's the chance you got something pretty secure for your friend Rin here? Maybe like your terminal? Five mins, max, I swear."

Pangea hands him the sprayflesh units.

"What my friend Rin here means to say is that we've got a pressing sale closing here in a bit on eDock, and we REALLY need to check on it. I've heard its some kind of amazing hoverboard thingy. It's got flame decals and I've heard it actually spits fire. It's totally rad."

Whispering conspiratorially, "Also my friend, I'm not sure I'd call this business strictly puritanical if you catch my drift. What's the chance you got something pretty secure for your friend Rin here? Maybe like your terminal? Five mins, max, I swear."

Envar looks confused. "Terminal? You saw my office. My work doesn't require a terminal. It requires alcohol and other assorted pick-me-ups, y'know what I mean??" Envar winks at Rin and gives Rin playful elbow shoves.

"What my friend Rin here means to say is that we've got a pressing sale closing here in a bit on eDock, and we REALLY need to check on it. I've heard its some kind of amazing hoverboard thingy. It's got flame decals and I've heard it actually spits fire. It's totally rad."

"Ooooohhhh!! You need to finalize a procurement deal!!! Well, lucky that you're talking to me, Brilliance Station's procurement officer!!! Still, I don't have a terminal..... hmmmm....." Envar rubs his chin, looking thoughtful.

Then he stops rubbing his chin and looks at his fingers.

He spots a white powdery substance on his fingers.

He licks his fingers.

"Wait so what were we talking about???"

I'll assume someone will say, "Terminal!! We need to get to a terminal!!!"

"OOOohhh!!Right! Hey, let's go to Mother's office! I’m the only other employee who has access. Mother’s office is really plush. I go there sometimes to get away from it all... I mean, when she’s not around.” He checks his watch. "And right about now is when she goes in for her daily cryo-nap. Let's go!!"

He takes you all back into the elevator, this time to the third floor. As you exit the elevator, a pair of vesk security guards enter the elevator, looks you all over, then ride the elevator off to their next destination.

Envar leads you to a locked door which he opens up with his key card. Inside is a rectangular room that is starkly different from the typical gold-and-silver metal decor found throughout the rest of Brilliance. Darkwood credenzas and bookcases complement the wood-paneled walls and tan wooden floor here. A model of the Pact Worlds system, sculpted in gold and silver metal, hangs from the ceiling near the center of the room. Framed parchment maps from some ancient era adorn the walls. The lone visible piece of modern technology is a silver computer console affixed to a darkwood desk on the eastern side of the room. A private climate-controlled and air-sealed balcony overlooks open space to the north. Racks lined with dusty bottles stand along the western wall of the office, watched over by an oil painting of a graceful lashunta woman reaching up toward a radiant sun.

Delta suddenly becomes a little worried: "Cryo-nap? Your mom... your mother, she is on the base?"

Seeing the office, the android asks: "Books?! Those don't look fun... And bottle! Those look more fun!"

As Pangea pops open the locked cabinet and reveals the graviton crystal inside, Gamuzali suddenly springs away from the wall to join him and picks up the precious stone. "This! This is incredible! I have to learn more about this before I can use it properly, but I will definitely be holding onto this!"

No mechanical benefit to swap it out for my current crystal given the fusion seal and everything I have on it, but I'm really hoping to see that on our Chronicle!

Later, while the others work on "setting up their sales" on Ilia Tamm's computer terminal, Gamuzali puts an arm around Envar's shoulder and guides the lashunta toward the balcony. "Whoa! Check out this view with me, bro! Pretty sick, right?"

As he walks with Envar, he looks over for anything worth pointing out to his colleagues.

As Gamuzali guides Envar towards the balcony, Envar turns back to the other party members and tosses them a passcard. "Here! That'll help you log in!!" And turning back towards the balcony with Gamuzali, Envar says, "Yah bro.... " And Envar once again loses all concentration as he spaces out under the influence of the drugs he ingested earlier.

This gives a +5 Computer bonus to anyone trying to hack into the computer. You may assist each other if you wish.
