[SFS - PbP] 1-07 The Solar Sortie - GM bigboom (Inactive)

Nole immediately orders a shot of whatever the hardest thing they have is. "So, Mr. Tamm. What's it like being a part of your mother's company? Must have its perks!" he says, widening his arms to gesture at the, umm, "office" in front of him.

Pangea, you do see security cameras but they are nothing out of the ordinary and are the same as other cameras you've seen dotted all around the station. You don't see anything else out of the ordinary - well, aside from Envar. He's probably not what you would generally consider 'normal.'

I'm unable to post more today as I'm wrapping up a 15 hour work day. But will try to post tomorrow! At least it gives the rest of the party a chance to place an order or two from the bar!

”I like this place, damn this is an office!”. Tapping the bar, he signals the bartender again ”Keep’em coming barkeep”

"I'll take two of Mr. Tamm's usual drink," Gamuzali tells the bartender, jerking a thumb back at the lashunta hanging around his shoulders. "Dress alike, drink alike, right bro?" The vesk tosses his head back in a long, exaggerated laugh, which comes off somewhat disconcerting, given Gamuzali's hoarse hiss of a voice.

Tolara says, "Why certainly! Two pan galactic gargle blasters coming right up!! Guaranteed to ensure you forget all your troubles!!"

She expertly and quickly mixes up the two cocktails and pushes them forward to you. "You enjoy that, sugar. But take it slow and don't rush. You know what they say about this drink, dont'cha?" And she gives you a friendly wink.

"Hardest drink, hmmm??" says Tolara. A thoughtful look crosses her face then she snaps her fingers and says, "Ah yes, I've got just the thing for ya!" She throws together a mix of very strong looking spirits and presents you a glass. "This, dear, is called an Aunt Roberta! Now it certainly fits the bill if you're looking for a hard drink. But don't be ashamed if you decide it's not for you after a couple sips. It'd be my pleasure to mix you up something else. Besides, this all goes on the big guy's tab, right?" With a sly grin, she points her thumb over her shoulder at Envar.

Meanwhile, Envar responds to Nole, "Perks?? All the usual ones, I suppose. Corporate housing. Corporate yacht. Country club corporate membership. Corporate card. Corporate events. Corporate parties. Corporate arena matches. Y'know, what everyone gets, right? But I tell ya, it's work work work with mother!! She never lets up!! She's such the micromanager checking up on me once every couple months!! Slave driver, y'know what I mean???" And on that note, he slams down one of the pan galactic gargle blasters that Gamuzali ordered.

”I like this place, damn this is an office!”. Tapping the bar, he signals the bartender again ”Keep’em coming barkeep”

Tolara responds, "Oh my pleasure handsome!! Galaxy cocktail comin' right up!!"

It's pretty clear to all of you why this lady was hired to work at a five nova restaurant - she's friendly and engaging. But just as she provides the beautifully mixed cocktail to Rin Jabo, a female ysoki and two vesks enter the Eclipse, walking straight up to Envar.

The ysoki look at you guys and says, "You lot will stay out of this if you don't wanna be collateral, smooth skins." Then she addresses Envar directly, "Where are the creds you owe me? You're overdue on your payment Envar and you know the penalty for defaulting on payments to me."

Envar turns around to face the ysoki but looks over her head at the walls and says, "Wow! That was fast! They renovated the walls with rainbows and unicorns just minutes after we stepped in!!" He stares at the walls for a couple seconds, swaying left and right slightly. Then he looks down and notices the ysoki. Envar squeals in girlish delight and tries to pet the ysoki, exclaiming, "Aren’t you sooo fwuffy!"

A look of disgust mixed with anger flashes across the ysoki's face and she declares, "Get 'im boys! You know what to do!" The two vesk begin moving towards Envar, who is still engrossed in petting the really, really pissed off ysoki.

"Okay, I will have a glass of goat milk if..."
But Pangea stops short when the others arrive.

"HEY!"

Pangea starts to go for its weapons.

Gamuzali takes the drink and takes a small sip. He is technically on duty, and doesn't want his judgment clouded in the middle of a mission.

When the ysoki walks in a warns off the group of 'Spartacuses' or whatever name the others had decided on for the arena, Gamuzali immediately stands and moves up alongside Envar. "Who're you calling smooth-skin, fur ball? These here are scales! And get your hands off my buddy!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Nole quietly downs his drink while watching the confrontation from the corner of his eye. You can tell a smug smile crawls across his face as he prepares to do a bit of healing. (currently, everybody can be healed again, since Gamuzali took a rest. Yay.)

Well, I'm glad we have a Solarion. They're in for one heck of a surprise!

Minor correction. Moved Envar's token next to the ysoki because Envar is currently petting the ysoki.

The ysoki looks over at Gamuzali and completely unfazed, says, "You talk a big game, pale scale. You also need your eyes checked. The useless, witless idiot here has his hands on me!

"I'll give you all one last warning. Back off!!"

Turning to Envar, the ysoki bats Envar's hand away and growls, "You pink-haired, scatter-brained, worthless lump of carbon! My cash. Pay up! NOW!"

Envar responds with, "Awww... Poor fwuffy doesn't like rainbowssshhh and unicornssshhhss???" It appears the gargle blaster is taking effect as Envar's speech begins slurring...

The two vesk are moving towards Envar but haven't laid hands on him yet. What would you like to do?

"Like" to do? Shoot Envar in the butt!

Pangea, with gun in one hand, and knife in the other, waits for the talking people to sort this out.

Oops! Thought the vesk had already grabbed him. Looks like it's time for a different tactic!

Gamuzali moves up and grabs Envar by the shoulders. He gently tries to turn and lead the lashunta away while speaking to the ysoki. "Listen, you can clearly see my friend here doesn't have all his wits about him. Why don't we all go our separate ways for the moment, and when Envar's slept his gargle blaster off, he can call you about the money. What's your name, and how much does he supposedly owe you? I want to be clear with him when he wakes up again."

Nole almost spits his horrendous drink out as he sees Gamuzali's very tense, seemingly-non-apologetic response, so he stands up on his chair and faces the group.

"Hey. Let's talk. Rat to rat. This man is an absolute idiot. What did he do? How much does he owe you? And, well, can you reconsider grabbing it RIGHT NOW? Come on, he's got guests."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Apologies for the slow pace the past several days. It's been an awful week.

Gamuzali moves up and grabs Envar by the shoulders. He gently tries to turn and lead the lashunta away while speaking to the ysoki. "Listen, you can clearly see my friend here doesn't have all his wits about him. Why don't we all go our separate ways for the moment, and when Envar's slept his gargle blaster off, he can call you about the money. What's your name, and how much does he supposedly owe you? I want to be clear with him when he wakes up again."

As Gamuzali moves Envar aside, Envar says, "Whooo... This unicorn wants me to ride it!" Proceeds to try and mount Gamuzali only to fall prone behind Gamuzali, falling fast asleep and snoring loudly while Gamuzali attempts to speak with the ysoki.

The ysoki growls, "Separate ways? Separate ways?!?! If there's one thing you fail to understand, it's that you never, EVER 'separate' me from my rightful cash!! Especially when the cash owed is ten grand, y'hear?!?! Now all your sweet talk is giving me a toothache. Back off!!"

Whereas the little rodent gangster appeared indifferent to your presence, she is looking much less friendly.

And Envar snores. Loudly.

The ysoki seems a bit calmed by Nole's smooth talking but nowhere near friendly. "As I said, the idiot owes me ten grand. But as you've caught me in a good mood, I'm willing to take 1000 credits as a down payment. Do we have a deal?"

Envar snores. Loudly. Again.

Please state in OOC whether or not you're willing to chip in for the bribe. That way, at least the talkers (Nole and Gamuzali) knows whether anyone is against it. And if you are against it, don't be afraid to say so. At this level, 200 creds knocked off your chronicle isn't insignificant.

I am fine either way. I do not mind paying, but do not mind refusing. Will happily go with the majority.

Ehhhh...Figures we'd get saddled trying to cozy up to some idiot with a pile of debt that we gotta suffer for, Gamuzali thinks ruefully. Still, a mission's a mission, and we're not gonna get far with this moron if we let him get killed...

I'm definitely not happy about it, but I could also be okay making the payment. Seriously wouldn't object to just busting some heads, either, but I suspect that would complicate things somewhat for us accomplishing our mission.

I'm not sure. We might be able to convince Envar to help us to "Repay" us stepping in on his behalf. I am not keen on giving into a thug, but fighting might give us away as SFS as well. I would say pay and see what happens with Envar.

Okay. Based on the feedback, paying is not completely out of the question although there is some preference in both directions. Nole hasn't posted his preference yet but I'm guessing will do so in a little while. Then someone will have to actually say/do something in response to the ysoki (whom you know OOC as Razor because of the slides), whether it be to fight, pay, or anything else the group can think up.

"Okay. Okay. Listen. We'll get you the creds. Since this, umm, drunkard said the tab was on him, I put my credstick in the locker when I walked in. Mind if I go grab it?"

I wanna fight. Let's get some weapons first, though. ;)

Though, Nole can still be talked in to paying by the others. He just definitely doesn't want to be caught in a fight with most of his party members unarmed.

Pangea looks at its comrades, with a knife in one hand and a gun in the other, it is ready to pass a weapon to who might wish for one.

Going rough and tumble it is then!!!

The ysoki looks pleased that Nole agreed to the payment. "Sure get your cas--- Now wait a second there!! You want out of this room while your friend there has his weapons out?? I'm no idiot!"

Envar snores again. Louder than ever before.

"I'm gettin' sick of that kid!" sneers the ysoki as they attack!!!

Pangea did not check in his weapons, so he's got his knife and pistol - both of which are currently wielded.
Tolmu has his battle staff which I'll say is wielded because Tolmu has been using it as a walking stick.
Nole, Rin and Gamuzali checked in all their weapons but of course Gamuzali has his solar weapon.
This promises to be more interesting than the arena battle!!

The red thug pulls out a rifle and opens fire on Pangea but the shot goes wide and instead shatters a bottle on the shelf behind the bar!!

Carefully setting down his galaxy cocktail, Rin stands up from the bar and whips an electticty ray from his hand at the Red Bodyguard. Come on, let’s keep this civil so we can drink! I think you’ll find more than you bargained for here”

Pangea's sudden movements throws the red thug off guard but unfortunately also throws off Pangea's aim as his shot misses!

Tolmu quickly steps up to the same red thug and swings his staff, connecting with his target with a dull thump for 2 points of damage!

Gamuzali steps up to the purple thug and unleashes a vicious attack, jamming his claws straight into the vesk's gut, raising him off the ground and throwing him off to the side! The vesk flies through the air, impacts the wall and slumps to the ground....lifeless.
I suppose the purple thug shouldn't have delayed until after Gamuzali!

Nole, you can get your weapons if you make your way into the entrance area where the ysoki is currently located. However, there are plenty bottles around if you want to throw them as improvised weapons. Move action to grab one off the table and standard to throw it. If you want to retroactively change your round 1 action to do this, go ahead and give me rolls for this in addition to your round 2 actions.

Rin looses lightning from his hands with great force, but it misses the guard!

Seeing the purple guard go down, the ysoki yells, "Heh! Thanks for that. Tomorrow was payday and now I don't gotta pay him. You just saved me a bundle of cash, lizard!!"

The red thug drops his rifle, draws a doshko, raises it high and swings down hard, catching Tolmu on a vulnerable spot for 17 points of damage!
I believe that crit knocks Tolmu down to zero who is now dying? Let me know if this is not the case.

Envar, still on the ground, talks in his sleep, "Ohhh behave...yah!! YAAAH BABY!!! Yeaaaaah.....OOWWW!!"

Nole grabs a bottle from a nearby table and throws it at the ysoki!!

Gamuzali steps up to the red thug who took down Tolmu and unleashes a vicious attack of his own!!

With amazing aim, Nole manages to hit the ysoki square on the chest! The ysoki's armor takes the brunt of the damage but Nole's attack does manage to leave the ysoki with a cut on her arm for 2 points of damage!

Having already taken hits from other party members, Gamuzali's attack of vengeance hits and finishes off the red thug! The thug falls down, dead, next to the Tolmu's unconscious body!

The ysoki, seeing that her two bodyguards have fallen and that she herself is quite injured, spits out a grenade from her cheek pouch and throws it towards the party!

It lands exactly where she intended, covering the entire party except for Pangea in the smoke, obscuring vision!

Coughing, you rush through the toxic, vision-obscuring smoke, only to find that the ysoki had made her escape!

Envar, still asleep, seems to be taking deep inhales of the awful smoke and talks in his sleep again, "Ooohhh yaaaah... That's the good stuff!!!"

Combat Concluded!!!

The party can go ahead and take whatever action is needed to get Tolmu back on his feet.

A moment later, station security arrives on the scene, weapons in hand and sees you all standing over two dead, bloodied bodies and Envar who is on the ground.

They train their weapons on you and yell, "You! Imposters!!! Drop your weapons and identify yourselves!!"

Pangea puts gun and knife away and will reload my 2 bullets when possible.

"Who let the Ysoki in here with armed people to shake down your boss? We just stopped them from hurting him. What would his mother do to you had they hurt her kid? You should be thanking us for having saved your lives."

Tolmu has 2 serum of healing(MK 1) in his backpack.

Pangea first rushes over to try and stabilize Tolmu, making sure he is not dying.

He pulls out a healing serum, and spends time trickling into Tolmu's mouth.

Seeing the security, Rin holds his hands high "Hey take it easy, I don't have any weapons, they're in the bin over there." Gesturing towards the cabinets, he lowers his hands if they relax.

"Look, we're here on the invitation of Envar. Do we look like we came here to take the place out?"

Sooo...I am awake with 1 HP? Is that before the guards come in?

You'll be awake and have had a chance to stand up with your walking stick when the station security arrives.

"These men accosted us. Not the other way around. You look at that security footage and see for yourselves. Your boss, or, like, son of your boss, whatever....Envar is merely unconscious from a Gargle Blaster. I assume you all know how this works. Drunk dude be drunk."

The moment Pangea speaks, the security officers appear ready to begin opening fire but when Rin and Nole chime in, their tense demeanor relaxes a little.

"Envar is merely unconscious from a Gargle Blaster. I assume you all know how this works. Drunk dude be drunk."

One of them grins and nudges the other with his elbow, saying, "Well, that IS true..."

Almost as if right on cue, Envar begins singing in his sleep, "Sippin' on gin 'n juice.... laaaaaid baaaaack..."

Everyone falls silent for a moment but the security guards soon re-focus back on the party. One of them puts his hand up to his ear and speaks into his comms, saying, "Please confirm. Review security footage. Yes, we'll wait." A couple seconds later, he speaks into comms again. "Understood. Roger that."

The guards say to you, "Well, good news is the footage cleared you. We recognize that you were defending Mr. Tamm. Bad news is we know you're imposters so we're going to have to detain you for questioning."

But before you even have a chance to react, Envar suddenly pops back up onto his feet and says, "Heeeey!! The lil mouse-y went away...?"

Security responds with, "Mr. Tamm, sir! We're arresting these people, they're not who they say they are!"

Envar looks over at the security guards with weapons leveled at your team and says, "Oh nonsense!! They’re famous professional gladiators. They need some downtime from the spotlight, so they had to put on these awful clothes and pretend to be someone else - well, except for my bro here who's dressed like me, dig?? Would you want a media drone following you to the bathroom?? No! Of course not!”

The security officers begin to lower their weapons, a bit confused but recognizing Envar's authority. Envar says to all of you, "C'mon now, huddle up... bring it in... bring it in!!" He waves you all towards him and you all awkwardly follow Envar's instructions, gathering around him. He puts his arms around you all, facing the two security guards who's weapons are now half-lowered.

"And not ONLY are these fellas professionals who need to remain incognito but they're MY friends!! So... bzzzz... Bzzzzzz.... BZZZZZZZ!!!!!"

And Envar literally buzzes them away.

As the poor security officers exit, you hear one of them muttering to the other, "I need a gargle blaster myself. Fifth time today we've had an 'Envar incident'...."

Envar turns to all of you stretches his arms out, yawns and says, "Y'know, I'm starting to find time here in my office a bit too stressful, don'tcha think? Let's go do something more relaxing, yah?" He walks to the exit, leads you to the elevator, and opens it with his pass card & retinal scan. On the way out the door, the android host returns all checked in items, saying, "Thank you and come again!"

On the elevator, Envar pulls out a bag of white powder which he hoovers up in a split second. He then hits the button for the sixth floor, turns to the group, sniffles, and says, "Oh you're gonna LOVE this next stop!! *SNIFFLE* Only the best for my latest, greatest gladiator team!! *SNIFFLE* The view of the sun is just simply MAG, NIF, FI, CENT!! That means 'the best' for those of you with a vocabulary that isn't as significant as mine! *SNIFFLE* Y'know what's even better? *SNIFFLE* Well have the entire place to ourselves!! *SNIFFLE* I'm so glad because the scientists who usually work there are SUCH a drag, y'know? *SNIFFLE* And not 'drag' in a good sense, y'know what I mean??"

The elevator doors slide open to reveal a chamber with goldenhued metal floor and walls. Plasma screens on the south wall stretch from floor to ceiling and display crisp, breathtaking images of space. A fluorescent mural on the floor depicts the stages of a solar eclipse. Two silver doors to the east and west lead farther into the observatory.

Envar stares intently at the screens on the south wall and murmurs, “I can see, like, the whooooole universe from here........” Envar falls silent and stands mystified, staring at the plasma screens, still sniffling occasionally.

Please feel free to retroactively post your character's interaction with the above scene, if any. And anyone may take any actions desired to heal up, including a 10 min rest.

A new map has been revealed. I've randomly placed your tokens on either side of him, staring at the southern wall. But feel free to move your tokens around and take actions as you like.

Earlier

As soon as the ysoki flees the scene, Gamuzali dismisses his solar weapon. The stellar mote hovers near his head as he waits for Pangea to help Tolmu back to his feet. "You took a pretty nasty hit there," he tells the mystic. "We took care of him pretty quick after that, though, so no need to worry. I'm just sorry the little one got away. Did anybody even catch his name?"

A dark-silver control station in front of the northern wall houses twin computer terminals. A set of silver shelves juts out from the northeastern wall, displaying various scientific instruments and tools.
