Id again repels some of the acid damage, but takes the full brunt of the magic missiles. Not as fun when it’s happening to me. He steps back and thrusts another psychic blast at the menhir.

Mordin's positive energy once again washes over the battlefield. It damages the menhir directly, but the real blow comes when it hits the spirits tethered to the columns. As the already-damaged spirit dissipates, a pulse of spiritual feedback rushes back along the silvery tether connecting it to the menhir. For a moment the runes glow brighter than they ever have and the whole square goes silent. After a moment in which even the air seems still, the menhir explodes, a great shock wave blasting out into the cavern. Buildings shake as dust and rubble fall from the stony ceiling, and a colossal vortex of spirits manifests above the city, ascending upwards. A green glow emerges from Id-Sinitis, manifesting a face just long enough to smile as it, too is pulled into the great, swirling mass. The vortex ascends and, after a few moments, dissipates, leaving the city in almost complete silence. Only the echoes of rubble settling pierce the final stillness of the last city of the mentrasi.

Upon returning to the chamber where you left Iteration-177, you find no trace of the android's body, nor evidence of anything stirring in the chamber. The return to the surface is uneventful, and when you are back in your ship your scans find no other starships in the vicinity.
----------
When you return to Jadnura to report, he listens to un calm silence while staring out the window at the skyline of Absalom Stations Eye. Once you've finished, he slowly turns toward you, his face stoic.
“Thank you,” he begins, “you’ve done a commendable job and shown me just how reckless I’ve been. The idea that there is a deity sleeping within the Scoured Stars is… It matches my visions and the records recovered from the survivors of my expedition there.” He lowers his head for a moment, rubbing his temple. “Your report mentions that Dhurus is the name of one of Kadrical’s four heralds. I fear this is the same Dhurus that leads the jinsuls against us now. This fact is… daunting. I’m concerned about what happens if this deity eventually ‘wakes up.’ Are the jinsuls typical followers or extremists? It sounds like the mentrasi fled from this god’s overbearing protection, which makes me even more concerned about our future.”
He removes an ancient looking compass from his pocket and turns it over in his hands several times, brushing his fingers across the surface. “The Society cannot afford to sit back and react to these ongoing events. We need to formulate a strategy for dealing with the damage we’ve caused—I’ve caused. I’ll meet with First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo and decide what to do next. Thank you, Starfinders. You are dismissed, with my personal thanks.”
That's the end! Thanks for playing, everyone. I'm happy to answer any lingering questions you might have, and feel free to add any RP reactions to these events. I should have your chronicles done soon.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Wheeler looks a bit nervous. Gods. Invasions. Real life and death stuff. Jadnura had bit off way way more than he could chew here. Wheeler got into this for the prestige and the influence. It seemed a good opportunity to become someone important.
Now....a freaking GOD wants them dead. Being important sucks.
Breq Torren |
Breq's face shows little reaction, but her circuits flare at this news. We have truly opened Pandora's Box with these Scoured Stars...Frightening times we are in. There will certainly be lots of work, litigation or otherwise.
