While Numina is gone Elwin suggests resting while she is gone.
Will also take a resolve break. :) Who needs a +1 the most from the ring? Perhaps whoever will be 'up front' and possibly taking more fire/effects we may run into?

![]() |

Smek will spend the RP while we rest. I don't have an interest in the seal. I agree with Elwin, a front-liner should have the ring.
Smek takes a few moments as the team waits for Numina, bandaging his wounds. "We have tripped the security system yet... I wonder where the lasers the Beings spoke of are." He keeps alert, trying to see if he can identify any defensive systems along the walls or gates.
Percetpion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

![]() |

As most rest, Smek sees nothing special on the outside.
Must probably be some myth, this talk of fire... or the hellfire you just passed.

![]() |

Kei preps himself for combat as the others take their moments to rest. He goes through his ammo, his grenades, his large X-gen gun. To the less combat experienced members, he has a veritable arsenal of heavy weapons. After he has checked and rechecked, he stands in front of the door. "I am ready when you all are," he says in his low voice.

![]() |

Spending the resolve.
Chetna draws her arc pistol with one hand and her knife with the other. She toggles her suit to turn on environmentals and engages the helmet. Nodding at Kei she says, "Ready."

![]() |

Elwin draws his Hail Pistol, looks at Kei'Jon's arsenal and then back to his very small and insignificant weapon.
"Well, I guess I am as ready as I'll ever be.."
He will also survey the building, looking for this mystical fire...
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Having found nothing either, Elwin looks to his comrades.
Ready to proceed past the dark blast-doors, made to like a dungeon entrance, that lie ajar...?
Into the Hellknight compound?

![]() |

Not finding any fire-breathing ghost, Smek takes one last look around... This time trying to find any tracks or sign of the Exile. "Between the storms and any active defenses that might still work, there's probably not a lot of living threats in there. Except this Exile. Maybe we should try to find it first?"
Survival/Tracking: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
If he finds anything, Smek suggests following the trail. If not, he's inclined to try the dungeon entrance ("Just like the old stories.").

![]() |

"I will assume that whatever is in there is an enemy," Laniakea says, drawing his diffraction pistol.

![]() |

You are all ready... and since Smek only sees the tracks of Starfinders, you go with Kei's kick.
The door crrrrrrrrrreaks open with an ominous sound, and you realize it is actually a small loudspeaker making old castle door noises (DungeonDoor® AbadarCorp).
You step into the entrance and can place your minis where debris litters the floor of this otherwise empty circular chamber.
The floor paneling has been ripped up in several areas, revealing the same ground as the exterior.
The paneling itself is fake wood, made to look some ebony wooden floor.
The door you came through, to the west, sits kicked open, leading back outside.
The doors to the north and south remain closed.
The ceiling of the circular structure is 20 feet high as will be all the others of the same sort, while the connecting corridors’ ceilings will be 15 feet high. Kei'jon is happy. His head will clean the cobwebs, but no stooping.
The rooms and corridors will all be prefabricated structures built using a sturdy plastic material.
Everything is black, with red trimming.
There are fake torch sconces to give lighting - via LED.
And the walls are made to look like riveted metal.
A dark black metallic eye is mounted on a metal arm, in the center of the ceiling.
It is a stylized if not stylish security camera.
There will be one in each corridor and room.
You look at one another: what shall we do?

![]() |

Watching the eye in the center of the room, Smek cautiously (and stealthily) moves into the room and begins searching for security systems or access terminals. "If there are no objections, we should take our time searching each room. At least until we can confirm security is off-line, or take control of any defensive systems."
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Can we Take 20 on searches? And if we can, is anyone opposed? If we can't, here's my Perception.

Numina gingerly steps into the room and has a look around, muttering a simple detect magic cantrip.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 18
And for once doesnt seem totally distracted by the latest vid game release.

![]() |

Smek and Numina take a good look, and then Numina casts the cantrip and starts slowly swivelling to cover all sides of the room... not detecting anything yet.
Smek decides to spend a couple minutes checking out the room in detail.
Taking 20 is fine

![]() |

"I had read about the Hellknight's preferred decor," Laniakea says as he cautiously enters the entrance chamber. "Left or right?"

![]() |

Smek moves slowly up to the northern door, and opens it slowly while keeping to the side. Once it's open half way he stops and peers into the next room.

Numina 6 has covered about a half of the room, still slowly turning on herself to have her cone of detection move over every part--
Smek has just started taking his time to thoroughly check for traps--
--when, suddenly, claxons start blaring from up behind the camera, and a laser array pops out from behind the camera too.
Unfortunately, fate has it that Smek had not inspected that part yet.
this happens on round 4, so 3rd round into the 20 it takes for Smek
Kei'jon and Chetna are able to spot the movement, and are not surprised, remaining nimble.
The others, following Numina and Smek's inspection too closely, are caught off-guard.
flat-footed for -2 ac
Kei' was hard to catch by surprise, since the laser array pops out just a couple feet from his face, way up there!
But the Hellknights contracted a good security agency, or else they had the work done in-house, because the ages old laser fires it beam with deadly accuracy.
You all see a little red range-finder bead of light paint your forehead, but the only that is actually shot at is--
--Laniakea! And it is a vicious shot. The smell of burnt floatborn flesh filling the room.
24 fire damage
You see the laser array move back up into the ceiling, whirring as it is starting to reset.
Later, when Numina will resume and finish her magic detection, she finds nothing other than any magic her friends might have.
Meanwhile, Smek will find himself lucky to have barely located the motion sensors that trigger the laser trap.

Numina hurries over to the sensors which Sme has found. You might want to take care Smek, your are our newest Starfinder, you probably dont want to be up front
She leans down and examines the sensorrs, pulling ot various tools to work on them.

I'd rather you roll. You are all a bit stressed knowing it is recharging but not how long
Loud speakers, hidden in the dark black fake-iron spikes protruding here and there on the walls, crackle: "OOOOOH?! Ah... AH ! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

Elwin's eyes grow wide and he gives a start as the laser pops up and fires. He looks to Laniekea to be sure she is up and moving and then runs to assist with the sensor, if there is room for him.

"That--ow," he says simply. "I may need a moment to recover."

The loudspeakers crackle.

"Hellknights endure pain! I am the Head of the Order of the Nail! I cherish pain!"
The booming voice echoes in the room.

![]() |

"All I have is a serum of healing. I will gladly give it to you though!"
After the voice keeps droning on, "I have a feeling that's not an actual Hellknight..."

![]() |

Laniakea pushes himself off of the floor after his rest. "I would certainly appreciate it with much gratitude, Elwin," the woioko says. "I fear this will not be the last of the dangers we encounter."
He smiles, revealing his fish-like teeth, and winces as the burnt flesh moves. He adds, "I also agree that he is not a Hellknight as we were hired by the Hellknights to reclaim this installation."

![]() |

"Speak louder! And not all together! We did not hear all that... You are warned that I am a Hellknight? And would like to be hired to repaint the installation?"

Kei' kicks the heavy blast door in.
It smashes agains the wall.
Static crackles as the intercom pops to life.
The voice reverberates from the walls: "So, it seems Lord Knighthell has some unwelcome guests intruding upon his deep solitude. Last chance to leave now, or you will regret ever venturing farther. Once again: this is my first and final warning, trespassers! And you won't get many more!"
Behind the door you see a short corridor, angled, that leads to another door.

Rested and healed, Laniakea feels much better.

Kei'jon does a similar door kick maneuver.
Hey all, to keep things moving, please feel free to post that 'we move on' or even Kei kicks in the next door. I will not be offended.

The doors smashes open.
Rows of plants line the southern and northern spaces of this fifty-foot-wide circular chamber.
Curved black and red plastic walls lead up to a transparent ceiling on which a giant devil's head appears, colored into the plastic.
The roof is partially obscured by chunks of random debris atop it but still clear enough to admit light.
Doors exit the area to the north from where you came, and to the east.
Your eyes go to the plants: there are many vines, climbing up onto the walls and runners.
Thick black stalks, drip dark burgundy sap.
Others are large flowers, dark velvet crimson and large.
One suddenly snaps shut, eating a fly!
All the plant areas have a carpet of thick black moss.
The atmosphere is quite oppressive.
