Im going to put this up for quick reference, because my character is build around feinting from range
DC to feint in combat
10 + Enemy's BAB + Enemy's Wis
or
10 + Enemy's Sense Motive
Modifiers
+4 to DC if enemy is non-humanoid
+8 to DC if enemy has INT </= 2
mindless foes cannot be feinted
I have the ranged feint and greater feint feats
If I successfully feint the enemy is flat footed against all my attacks and melee attacks of my team until the beginning of my next turn (ranged attacks by teammates do not get the benefit)
also I can sneak attack from >30ft

So, there's a spell from Planar Adventures that might take some of the sting out of the strongly aligned nature of Hell.
(I found it while I was looking for some other talismans.)
It's a 5th-level cleric spell, so a scroll is 1,1,25 gp, I think, and would last for 90 minutes. Thoughts? I'm also willing to take the -4 on things because we are in Hell, and it's supposed to be tough, but Nellie is only a marginally-skilled character, so that's going to hurt my usefulness a bit.

Yeah, I'll just take the penalty as well, is my thought.
Brian - just as a heads up, i have the scabbard of many blades (or something like that) and the quick draw feet which allows me to hold a bunch of weapons and wands and the like (i think up to 7), draw them as a free action and sheath or swap weapons as a swift. I guess it doesn't say in the description that you can sheath as a swift, but I figure if i can swap as a swift it makes sense, and I can always put a couple of sticks in there and "swap" to one of them and drop it if we feel the need to play it strictly as written.
let me know if you have any questions, and I'll mention when it comes into play
GM Sparrowhawk |
That all sounds fine - I see what you are saying about swift sheathe. Do note however that it explicitly cannot hold wands, only rods and staves.

I hope you werent waiting for me. I’m fine with the penalty.

i hadn't noticed the wands issue (lame), but i have wrist sheaths from before i had the scabbard, so i'll just use them again.
i'll start with a true strike wand in each

Ok, so another wrinkle for you to consider. Given PbP, I'm just going to lay this out transparently:
Dis is massive, and despite its orderly layout, the city favors those who can fly or teleport. Navigating from one major site to another takes 3 hours. One PC can take the lead in navigating, attempting a DC 20 Knowledge (planes) or Survival check to reduce that journey’s travel time to 2 hours. If the check exceeds the DC by 10 or more, reduce the travel time to 1 hour. You can aid this check as well.
By spending an hour looking for a guide, the PCs can find and hire Artylget (LE male imp), who recently returned to Dis after the death of his master, the self-styled “Zarkimon the Omnipotent.” Having recently escorted Zarkimon’s damned soul from Pharasma’s court to Hell, Artylget is now between assignments. He charges 50 gp in advance for 8 hours of service as a guide. His bonus on Knowledge (planes) checks is +15.
So, decide what you want to do about navigation.
Also, in terms of decision making and moving forward: Normally for small choices I'll move once a decision is suggested and then ratified by a 2nd person. Normally for big decisions, I'd want everyone to chime in, but since Robin has played before, I'll basically do 2 out of 3 wins (although Robin you should still RP in, and if it involves a part you didn't do, which is possible with this scenario, then just let me know).
Tinkapinelle Bly |
Looks like Kjetil would be a decent guide around Hell, though hiring the imp would be better considering the penalties we are taking.
Antonaides DeGuile, Esq. |
Antonaides will splash out the 50 gp to hire Artylget and can assist the imp on planes checks.
GM Sparrowhawk |
So, if everyone is ok with it, I'll roll skill checks and such when it will help move things along as in the most recent post, but in general I'll avoid rolling saves for you. Unless you don't care - but I like you to be in control for major ones so you can decide about folio rerolls and use of other boons.
Tinkapinelle Bly |
That's fine on the skill checks. Roll away!
(Also, Will saves are going to be brutal in this. Darn my chaotic nature!)
GM Sparrowhawk |
Robin and Alex, can you please fill in the info on Slide #3.
Also, I've added a slide (now #4) where I'll put images of NPCs when I have them.
Antonaides DeGuile, Esq. |
When you get a chance, could you resend me the link. I can't seem to find it
It’s the “Maps and Handouts” hyperlink under Brian’s name in his latest post ^^^
GM Sparrowhawk |
Apologies, sick child and wife and start of semester means not much time. Hope to meaningfully move us along tomorrow.
GM Sparrowhawk |
I don't want to force your hand, but I fear I haven't been clear. Zarta will conduct other investigations for you, but you need to check in with her to learn what she knows and to decide where to send her next. Or you can have her accompany you. She does want to updated, as well. You can tell her to meet you at Widow's Cry if you'd like to save time.
Tinkapinelle Bly |
Ah, let's do that then. I thought we were just going to meet up at the end.
GM Sparrowhawk |
No worries! The boards have had an issue where after you post it doesn't appear right away. I've even had it not sow when I reload the page, but then it does turn up.
GM Sparrowhawk |
Alex and I have been texting, but let's use wisdom of the crowd:
1) Does blind impact saving throws? I can't see that it does by the rules.
2) Aqueous Orb can't fly, right?

I agree with you on these. Blind says that it affects AC and skills, but doesn't mention saving throws. Aqueous orbs "roll."
Antonaides DeGuile, Esq. |
ditto.
Seems like blindness would affect Reflex saves but it's not in the rules
GM Sparrowhawk |
This offer from Rowane doesn't really change things, it's just there to provide an alternative to working directly for a devil, which I guess they thought some ppl would not like. You can basically do both - work with Vetrivides and get what she wants to, so up to you but just wanted to say its not a big deal either way.
Tinkapinelle Bly |
Far be it from me to pass up an opportunity for breaking and entering, but I'm fine with whatever everyone wants to do.
GM Sparrowhawk |
Checking in: are folks busy, or is this one of those decision points that cause a silent period b/c people don't know what to do or are waiting for others to act? I can push it forward, just need someone to chime in.
Tinkapinelle Bly |
Sorry, was a little at a loss for what to say. I'm down with anything that messes with our target.
Antonaides DeGuile, Esq. |
Sorry, I've been on double shifts/hosting a visit from F's father. I was also a little unclear about the plot ramifications of our visit to the queen, but it seems like we're motoring on.
GM Sparrowhawk |
Just a little behind the curtain, if you made both checks the Erinyes would fight with you. If you made neither, it fights against you. You went 1 for 2 so it sits it out.
It says explicitly in the scenario that the time lapses, spells should fade as appropriate, and you reroll intiitative. So playing it as written.
Also, if you had visited the Hellknights that gives you a way to sway the archer to quit, and if you had bought her contract you could control the melee fighter. You do now have Narsino on your side.
GM Sparrowhawk |
Hectic day will move us to next round tomorrow, but Nellie and Kjetil should feel free to act. Pit fiend does have wings but is on the ground right now.
Tinkapinelle Bly |
Hurray! I was worried I was going to be stunned/paniced/petrified.
GM Sparrowhawk |
Sorry gang - will get a post wrapping up fight and doing last part likely on Sunday. Very close to done.
Antonaides DeGuile, Esq. |
Brian, thanks so much for running. This one was a blast
Tinkapinelle Bly |
Yes, thanks, Brian. That was really fun!
GM Sparrowhawk |
My pleasure - I'll have some parting words from Zarta and your chronicle sheets soon. If anyone needs them for Seelie Court this weekend, let me know and I'll prioritize you.
