GM Bret |
Yes, you may RetCon the second potion.
I will prepare Seers District in the morning. Hopefully everyone will have done the Reflex save and any needed healing by then.
Brayne |
Brayne looks over as the fire engulfs the team and flinches "Ahh! Is everyone alright?!" Having little knowledge about fixing things together, the half-orc provides assistance by expending a bit of divine magic.
Brayne will expend a use of bless to give us that additional bonus.
"Divination? You don't say, that would be really interesting." Brayne agrees and happily follows Kulga's lead down towards the Seers District.
GM Bret |
@Brayne, the way I read the text it only increases it for weapons you wield, not the rest of the group.
GM Bret |
@Chandrabha Are you still with us? I may have missed it, but I didn’t see any healing after that first fight.
Waiting for people to catch up. Status as I have it:
Chandrabha -9 Need Reflex Save, Take 33 or 16 damage then heal 16
Sha’ar -26 Need Reflex Save, Take 33 or 16 damage then heal 16
Wolfgang Need Reflex Save, Take 33 or 16 damage then heal 16
Garduk Failed save, healed back up, renewed False Life
Kulga Made save, healed back up by Pathfinder
Brayne Was out of the blast, completely healed
A marching order would be nice as well.
Chandrabha |
I've returned. My flight across half the world was somewhat heavier than I thought, and the 50 degree Celsius difference demotivated more than expected. However, I'm here again.
Ref Sha'ar: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Ref Chanrabha: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
They were healthy... until this moment. Now apparently comrade half-orc again will help me with a wand... I'll write off 6 more charges...
- O Goddess! I need ssserpent's wisdom and the serpent's reflexess, not only serpent'ss perception... Garduk, could you do it again?
GM Bret |
Thanks! I had missed that text when reviewing things.
In order to move things along, I am going to bot Wolfgang’s Reflex save.
GM Bret |
It takes you about 15 minutes to get to the Seers District.
Hundreds of stalactites extend from the ceiling thirty feet overhead. Dirt and stony debris litter the cave floor, along with discarded scrolls, bits of bone, and a few jawless skulls. Moisture drips from the stalactites into seven natural pools scattered about the chamber, which bears a putrescent odor.
Some sort of creatures are coming out of the shadows from the northwest and northeast corners. They look like they intend to attack.
Slide 6
They have the normal Undead Traits (see spoiler below).
For every five you made the roll by, you may request more information.
Brayne: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
Chandrabha: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Garduk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Kulga: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Wolfgang: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Red: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Blue: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Orange: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Green: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
It has been about 50 minutes since the Mage Armor spells were activated from the wand.
Bolded may act.
Round 1:
Wolfgang
Chandrabha
Sha’ar
Orange
Blue
Red
Garduk
Green
Kulga
Brayne
Garduk the Unteachable |
Chandrabha - you may not need all six wand charges. Everyone received 16 points of healing from the use of the aid token.
Wolfgang Strabe |
"Well, well, well... if it's not a bunch of ne'er do wells from beyond the grave... Let's send them back already!" Wolfgang exclaims as he starts shooting...
Attack roll 01: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 → Damage roll: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Move and shoot. Attack green. Damage counts as magic
Chandrabha |
Garduk, thanks! Somehow I thought it was for one person. So it's for 4 charges and full HP (for now). GM Bret, may I ask you to provide a visual description of your opponents? For me, for example, it matters what weapons they have in their hands (one-handed or two-handed), whether they can bite (as it seems), and so on.
- This flesh doesn't look alive... That makes it a little lesss interesting. However, business isss business... Sha'ar! ファス !
In an already familiar manner, a huge snake rushes forward with incredible for such creature speed.
Sha'ar | attack & grab: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 151d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17 [blue, FF]
Sha'ar | bite & constrict: 1d4 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 121d4 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Next to it, a moment later, Chandra wrings another enemy's neck, using a small silver baton again.
Chandrabha | grapple (dan bong): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33 [red, FF]
Ohh! It is a pity that it is not SF rules, such a throw there immediately would cause pinned condition. Btw, Sha'ar knows the trick to attack undead and the like. The only trick (for now).
GM Bret |
The humanoid creatures carry no weapons. Their skin is dry and stained with the texture of old leather to it. Their eyes have a malevolent red glow to them as they look at you.
There is your description. Could you please state which opponent you are attacking each time?
Wolfgang moves into the chamber and shoots his target.
Sha’ar gives a nibble on blue and then hugs it tightly. It looks in very bad shape.
Chandrabha easily grapples Red with her weapon.
Orange moves towards the group, licking its lips as it moves.
Blue strikes at Sha’ar.
slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Red strikes at Chandrabha.
slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Round 1:
Wolfgang
Chandrabha
Sha’ar

Red Grappled by Chandrabha
Garduk
Green -7
Kulga
Brayne
Garduk the Unteachable |
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
"This is definitely the Seers' District," Garduk says, pointing to the etchings on the skulls. "These are the skulls of honored seers, displayed to show... By Nethys's blasted hand, what are those?"
Garduk doesn't wait for an answer. As Chandrabha and Wolfgang engage the creatures, calls into the Great Beyond for assistance in finishing the fight quickly. He shudders briefly when he realizes who has answered, remembering his recent near-death experience, and just how creepy he found the last one of these he summoned.
When his new ally arrives, he points to the obviously undead attackers.
"آنها را بسوزان! همهی آنها را بسوزانید! یعنی، همه آنها را بسوزان، لطفا."
Felicia the Fire Elemental |
With a roar of flame and the choking smell of smoke, a fire elemental appears, in the rough shape of a violin-playing halfling. At Garduk's shouted command, it turns to stare at him with obvious malevolence, then flows across the cavern to engulf the green-garbed creature.
Charge, Slam!: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 101d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
On a hit, DC 13 Reflex save or 1d4 points of burn damage per round.
GM Bret |
The flaming fiddle player charges across the cavern, but seems more worried about not stepping in a puddle of water than hitting the creatures.
Since it came to them, Green takes a swipe at the fiddler.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Although it doesn't seem to do that much damage, the flames seem just a little dimmer after the creature touches them. The energy seems to have gone into Green.
Round 1:
Wolfgang

Kulga surges forward, swinging her axe in a wide arc for the isolated zombie-thing.
Waraxe @orange (Charge, PA): 1d20 + 13 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 2 - 2 = 18
Magic, Cold Iron Slashing: 1d10 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 4 = 18
GM Bret |
Kulga hits and hurts the Orange creature.
Bolded may act.

Sha’ar
Chandrabha |
Sha'ar | maintain grab (damage) & constrict: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 292d4 + 20 ⇒ (4, 4) + 20 = 28 blue
Chandrabha | maintain grapple (pin): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21 red
The snake hugs, and from there you can hear a fairly loud crunch of bones. At this time, Chandrabha even stronger wrings her undead opponent.
- Can sssomeone come here and decapitate thiss thing?
Brayne |
Garduk's poor summoned creatures...
Brayne reacts late to combat, but nonetheless attempts to make himself useful in the situation. "Ugh, undead?! Why?" He moans as he hustles alongside Chandrabha. His practice into the dark arts has eroded his mind to lose a little piece of sanity. As a result, Brayne develops a taste for the unusual. Out of instinct, Brayne does something out of the ordinary for a sane man as he leaps into combat! He flourishes his fangs and goes straight for the bite! "MMrrrmmm."
Move & Attack Red
Bite,PA: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 1 - 2 = 18B/P/S: 1d4 + 6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 6 + 1 = 16 Single natural attack
GM Bret |
Sha’ar’s coils tighten and the creature breaks apart.
Chandrabha is able to pin the creature using their weapon.
Brayne discovers that as horrible as the creatures look, they taste even worse! How can something be so dry and flavorless yet still make you want to do anything in order to get the taste out of your mouth?
Round 2:

Kulga Gruenakslag |
At least Felicia seems mean, so I don't feel as bad for its rolls :-p
Wolfgang Strabe |
Wolfgang points his crossbow at the undead creature fighting Kulga and shoots twice!
Attack roll 01: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 12 - 2 = 25 → Damage roll: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Attack roll 02: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 12 - 2 = 20 → Damage roll: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Full attack, target: orange
GM Bret |
Wolfgang hits with both of his shots, managing to take out that creature.
Red tried again to strike at the one holding it.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
It can’t quite reach.

Garduk the Unteachable |
Garduk squints at the fire elemental. Did its flames just ... flicker when the thing touched it? What just happened?
Garduk pulls out his wand of magic missile. As he does, he calls out to the other Pathfinders, "Be careful - their touch alone can hurt you!" To the elemental, he shouts,
"خوبید شما؟"
He focuses on the green-garbed creature, and activates his wand with the command phrase, "Telum magicum!" Two ice-blue missiles appear in the air, already in motion toward his target.
Wand of Magic Missile (CL3): 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10
Felicia the Fire Elemental |
(Current HP: 10/10)
The elemental turns its faceless head, and somehow Garduk knows it is looking at him.
"تظاهر به مراقبت از رفاه من، جادوگر نیستم. بیمار ناخوشایند شما می شود"
The elemental turns back to its opponent and attempts to engulf it once again, although a bit less energetically.
Slam!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
GM Bret |
Green glares at Garduk as the magic hits it.
It takes another swipe at the Elemental before it.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
It hits the elemental, which then fades out of existence. The flames dim and then are extinguished, but the creature looks more healthy.
It was 2HD, rather than death as a summoned creature I believe it just ceases. I don’t know a good way to describe gaining temp hit points other than the creature looking more healthy.
The creature seems confused for just a moment, then rushes towards the one who hurt it!
Round 2:

Kulga Gruenakslag |
Kulga tromps towards the walking corpse, sizing up its gait and reach with a nasty grin. "Come on, you can't seriously think that beating on one of Garduk's creatures means you're tough. Try a real warrior on for size."
Move and Study Green
Chandrabha |
Chandrabha | maintain grapple (tie up): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29 red, using quickcatch manackles
- Done. We can sell it to the zoo or sssomething like... Blackrosss museum maybe?
Meanwhile Sha'ar tearing apart her previous undead victim. (no commands to snake)
Brayne |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Assuming Red is no longer of a threat...
Brayne spits out a good chunk of rotting flesh from his earlier bite. "*Puit* bleh! Disgusting?!" He notes as he wipes his tongue on his sleeve then turns around to join Kulga. "Good job Chabndrabha, you had it without me! Blakros...." Brayne's face turns a little pale thinking about that cursed museum.
Double move
GM Bret |
The creature is not capable of bursting them with a DC 28 Strength check nor escaping them with a DC 35 Escape Artist check. Combat over.
I don’t know of any value in keeping it. Whatever you want to do until the first Pharasmin sees it.
“Let me out, so I might feast on your life force, snakewoman!”
It makes various threats, some of which make no sense. Undeath has unhinged its mind.
You probably want to renew the Mage Armor spells at this point. Just post that is what you are doing and expend the charges.
Success
GM Bret |
You do any healing and renewing of spells that you feel you may need and then move on.
After a few minutes, you find a chamber that looks interesting.
A large two-tier platform with a rectangular stone altar dominates this chamber. A narrow channel stained red runs around its oor, twisting in strange patterns. The platform is anked by six statues of demonic mien that reach out with wicked claws.
Exceeding the check by 10 or more (total of 25+) gives the information under this next spoiler.
From the entrance, you can see that there are some implants on the alter, though details aren't discernible without closer examination.
Slide 7
Garduk the Unteachable |
Mage armor renewed - Garduk, Brayne, Sha'ar (3 charges).
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
"Looks like this is where the seers performed their auguries. But are those statues really part of dwarven divination rituals?"
First sentence is from the knowledge check, the second is just Garduk speculating. Will post more in an hour or so.
Chandrabha |
___
- About take thisss with us I of course was joking. With a crunch, she breaks his neck with her foot and then takes manacles. Go.
At the altar.
- This place looks disgusting. Like a place to human sssacrifices... it iss like some of the worst placess of my native Valashmai jungles...
It seems that the demonic statues and the altar itself (probably polluted) makes her extremely unpleasant emotions.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28 something dangerous in the altar or statues.
GM Bret |
Chandrabha ascends the stairs to look at the alter.
Please make a Kn: Arcana or Kn: Religion check to determine what if anything you know about what you see here.
I have placed Chandrabha at the Alter based on her comments and Garduk at the entrance. Everyone else is outside the room. Go ahead and place yourselves. You need to be right next to the Alter to make out what is on it.
Brayne |
”Sacrifice? Hmmm, you don’t say...” Brayne becomes absorbed in thought and wanders near the altar to get a good look at it. ”Well, what are we looking at Chandrabha?”
For same measures, Brayne approaches the altar with detect magic.
Kulga Gruenakslag |
"Doesn't look like proper dwarvish stonework to me. Must be a later addition. Especially if it's for sacrificing things."
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 +2 from Stonecunning if applicable
GM Bret |
Just copied what was under Chandrabha’s spoiler.
You see a knife made of silver and colored tiles fixed into the stone surface, dingy with age.
Please make a Kn: Arcana or Kn: Religion check to determine what if anything you know about what you see here.
GM Bret |
Garduk the Unteachable |
Chandrabha - thanks for catching it!
Garduk joins the others at the altar.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Grr.
"Silver knife. Maybe they had a problem with werewolves?"
GM Bret |
As some of the group get to the alter, red liquid starts pouring out of skull mouths carved in the base of the altar on its left and right sides. This liquid fills the twisting channel, starting to flow down the platform.
Not in Combat, but we are in rounds. Please post one rounds worth of actions.
Craft Alchemy or Knowledge: Arcana as a standard action to try and identify the red substance. Searching is a move action using Perception skill, like normal.
Brayne: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
Chandrabha: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Garduk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Kulga: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Wolfgang: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
The red substance gives off that cinnamon and vinegar smell you had noticed before.
Garduk the Unteachable |
"Gah!"
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Redeemed!
Garduk moves quickly back down the stairs.
GM Bret |
The red substance was once used in divination magic. It fell out of fashion over time as the oil had deleterious effects on augurs after years of exposure. This oil looks thicker than normal.
Garduk the Unteachable |
"Oh, that's interesting." Garduk calms down as he gets a better look at the viscous red liquid flowing into the ancient channels. "Diviners used to use this substance for their magic, although it looks a bit thicker than it usually was. Anyway, long-term exposure turned out to be harmful, so people stopped using it. Still..."
The mage starts to open his haversack, intending to pull out an empty vial in order to collect some of the substance.
As Garduk has already acted this round, he will in all likelihood proceed next round unless they are interrupted.
GM Bret |
The red lines are the channel where the oil is flowing.
@Garduk, you can collect it from where you are next round.
Chandrabha |
- I feel sssmell of cinnamon and vinegar... Ssomething familiar.
No special actions. Holding the net. Looking for danger.
- Punditsss, try to figure out what's going on here. I could help you if I asked the Goddesss for support and knowledge in time, but it's a ritual for an hour.
I could take any knowledge skill for 5 hours through the Spirit Ridden feat but it all started very quickly...
Kulga Gruenakslag |
Kulga keeps an eye out for other changes, and tromps over to Garduk to make sure he doesn't get attacked by an ooze.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 +2 Stonecunning if applicable
GM Bret |
