Is there a particular reason you picked Kelinahat? Aside from having ranks in Stealth, he doesn't seem to be particularly sneaky or spy-like and it seems like he spends a lot of time actively fighting and drawing attention to himself.

Here's Eli's character sheet to go with his backstory from yesterday.

TL;DR: Eli is a grizzled and jaded inquisitor of Brigh who hunts down Blackfire Adepts with his gun because they keep throwing wrenches into the delicate machine that is the multiverse. A year ago, his mentor and partner in the Riftwardens was brutally murdered by the cult a day before retirement. This time it's personal. Also Eli's a flumph.

Okay, I actually managed to get Terexaltherin all put together with a background and everything. I ended up going with the rogue build for him, because that's the build that just fits for him. I'm still worried I'd overlap too much with Zadok, but... meh. If he doesn't get picked because of that, it was still fun to build him like this.

In combat I expect him to use his bewildering variety of wands and minor magical abilties to help him deliver sneak attacks, as that's about the only way he can do appreciable damage (though his stinger hurts for something so small, 8-10 damage is not much at 10th level). Out of combat (and sometimes even in it) he's a small, stealthy, mobile guy, who can get into all kinds of places and fulfill the usual rogue-ly duties, while also having almost every Knowledge skill in the book (because he loves books). The fact that he's a natural telepath who can therefore converse with basically anything capable of speech has probably proved helpful, as well.

His basic motivation for staying with the Riftwardens is because it gives him an excuse to explore the planes, see all kinds of interesting things, and meet all kinds of fascinating people. With time this has deepened into genuinely caring about the work of preserving the planes, and helping people while he can while he's at it.

I'm hoping to flesh out one or two of my ideas more this weekend. If any of them seem more intriguing than the others to focus on, let me know (e.g., the original that i needed to make an update too, is it compelling at all with the update or should I move on).

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 1) = 18 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 2) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 1) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 2) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 1) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 6) = 17 = 15

Thats a 25 point buy, nice

My submission as promised.

Oh! Thank you for the submissions! A pseudodragon rogue, a revenant gunslinger and a flumph inquisitor.

I like that you wrote Eli's backstory without ever once mentioning that he was a flumph. It's a nice reversal of the trope.

I'll be a little busy this weekend, so I won't be able to give detailed notes or audits, but I just wanna ackowledge that I've seen your submissions, I like them, and I don't have any major notes.

Thanks for the update!

Hawksw0rd here, I know it's a bit late, but I'd like to present Hael Yskarvia. I apologize for the rough edges, I just barely managed to get all this gathered together and put down on paper, so to speak.

Fluff:
Who is your character? Hael Yskarvia, a collected and calm purveyor of rare and exotic magical goods from across the world by day, and a tattoed, power crazed caster by night.

Where are they from? Hailing from Ulfen traders plying their craft across Golarian, Hael grew up proud of his ancestry but experience a multitude of cultures as his family traveled.

What are they like? In his merchant persona, Hael is a calm and even handed man known for his expertise in identifying magical items, and their worth. As the heavily tattoed Rune, Hael is gruff and uncaring, focused only on increasing his understanding of the esoteric interplay between tattoo's and magic, and the primal forces that power such might.

What's their alignment? N for Hael, CN for Rune

What do they look like? Hael is well known for his fur lined cloak and white gloves, sporting a well groomed beard and long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail. As Rune, Hael lets his hair hang freely, and combined the the numerous tattoos that cover his body, lend him a wild air.

What is your character? Warlock 6/Crimson Countess 2/Umbral Blade 2
How did they become their class? As a child, Hael often escaped his parent's careful eyes and wandered the cities they were visiting. In one, he found a old mage who regaled him with tales of magic, of men turning rivers to ice, creatures of legend bowing to mortal men, and the like. When Hael wistfully mentioned his wish to cast magic, the old man grabbed his hands, and branded him with an old arcane mark. Fleeing from the old man, Hael found his searching parents, who consoled their crying child. As Hael grew, so did his ability to manipulate magic using the marks on his hand, and his parent's fear he would be taken. Told to keep his newfound powers hidden, Hael used his free time to learn more about such arcane sigils, eventually discovering more and more such marks, most importantly among those Life, and Shadows.

What's their role, both in 'society in general' and also in 'a party'? In society, Hael helps in the process of cycling magical items found by adventurers into the general populace, as well as research and knowledge into magical items, artifacts, and arcane knowledge as a whole. In a party, Hael is damage as well as support, able to dish out bursts of damage and use the wide range of sorcerer/wizard spells to hasten fights, and make expeditions easier. In a pinch, he can tank between his armor and ability to self heal.

Why did your character join the Riftwardens? Approached after his ill fated kidnapping, Hael joined the Riftwardens so he could use their resources to discover more secret marks, and maintain the both the planes he calls home, and the energy behind his powers. Any knowledge or items he collects from the adepts is merely side gains.
How long have they been a Riftwarden? 10 years

How did your character reach level 10? By hunting down old arcane knowledge, and marking his body with such sigils. Old temples and ruins often have guardians, which is where he learned his combat prowess.

What silly Blackfire-utilizing plot have you foiled recently that you can brag about to your fellow Riftwardens? Before he even knew of the wardens, the Blackfire Adepts actually kidnapped him to use as a sacrifice in order to summon a daemon. When he awoke, Hael slipped from his bindings with a quick freezing of the ropes, and then proceeded to massacre the adepts inside the cathedral, hurling bolts of rime and using their own life force to sustain him. In irritation, Hael hunted the remaining local Darkfire cells down, and thus ended a plot to summon a horde of daemons and the ilk inside a bustling city.

Arg, I'm out of time and today is not looking good. I think I'm going to withdraw and leave it to those who've spent more time on their submissions.

OK! So, it's the fifth. I'm sorry that I haven't spent as much time actively monitoring this thread as I could have, but I wanted to say that I believe tomorrow is the cut-off date I set? I don't think anything is particularly benefited from waiting at all, so tomorrow or the next day is when I will be posting selections. I believe I have eight submissions to choose from:

Raziel, legion archon paladin of Kelinahat

Sir Crunchy, awakened giant crab wizard (worldseeker)

JonDoe Stonecutter, human life shaman

Rem di Tron, human wilder

Teraxaltherin, pseudodragon counterfeit mage rogue

Eli, flumph inquisitor of Brigh / gunslinger

Hael Yskarvia / Rune, Ulfen warlock vigilante / Crimson Countess / Umbral Blade

Lydia Wiles, revenant gunslinger/warder

I think it's slightly late to do clarifying questions and adjustments, I just need time to think about it, and I need to ask my players what they think. So, thanks for your submissions! I'll be back soon.

Amarélys wrote:

Similar question about Rem di Tron, why is he so dedicated to fighting the blackfire adepts? What makes him so devoted to the Riftwardens?

I added a 'Why' section. Cheers and good luck all

I had dotted in to get updates and follow along (it has been fun to read the gameplay so far). Since I couldn't get my submission completed (life), you can deactivate me from the campaign at your earliest convenience.

Description
Thistle cuts a dashing figure, having a lithe and androgynous cast. Standing at a smidgen over 2 feet tall, and their most striking feature is their They keep their hair short, worn in a pixie cut – comment at your own peril, unless you really are as clever and witty as you think you are. If they can grow facial hair, they eschew it, and their large, soulful eyes are the grey of stormy clouds – or, some say, the grey of steel. They tend to favor loose, long-sleeved blouse and breeches for ease of movement. The colors tend to be muted or complementary to their eyes, which makes their iridescent dragonfly wings stand out all the more. Slung over their shoulders are a bow and quiver, and at their hip rests what looks more like an ornate needle than a blade.

Backstory
Thistle once led an idyllic existence, nestled in what they thought was the finest glade in all of the First World. They were, like many pixies, talkative, excitable, and curious. If Thistle had one flaw, it was, perhaps, that they were too trusting, but although this often made them subject to pranks by their fellow pixies, they preferred to laugh with their kin at their own foolishness and gullibility instead of nursing resentment towards their kin... or, perhaps, instead of learning a lesson from those pranks. If Thistle had smartened up, perhaps what followed would have gone differently.

Being a pixie, Thistle had an instinctive sense of a stranger's nature, and could tell if they were kindly or cruel, free-wheeling or regimented. Thistle never expected the gnomish traveler they met while shopping for goblin fruits at the witchmarket would veil themselves with magic that could confound the pixie's innate ability. Thistle couldn't help but brag about how perfect the glade they called home was, and the gnomish traveler promised Thistle that if they were right about their glade being the most perfect in all the First World, the traveler would show Thistle something truly wondrous – something never before seen in the First World!

That day, the gnomish traveler revealed themselves as a Blackfire Adept, and tore open a gash in the First World right where Thistle's glade once was. The fey lord to whom the glade belonged, banished Thistle from the First World until the Blackfire Adepts no longer blighted the planes...

So, potentially, forever.

Lacking the ability to wander the planes themselves, upon discovering like-minded souls sworn to the destruction of the Blackfire Adepts for their own reasons, Thistle joined the Riftwardens, pledging the unique expertise of a pixie to their common cause. Thistle understands they need the Riftwardens to complete their objective; the Riftwardens are like a longbow, the delivery mechanism – and Thistle is the arrow that will bury itself in the black beating heart of the Blackfire Adepts.

Role
Aside from the benefits of having a permanently invisible scout and a permanently invisible sneak attacker, Thistle also provides the party with a handful of useful utility spell-like abilities and pixie dust arrows that provide a number of useful effects, including sleep, charm, and memory loss.

Looks like an interesting group to select from. I'll be following this even if I don't make the cut!

I'd like to take Eli: flumph inquisitor, Lydia: revenant gunslinger, Teraxaltherin: pseudodragon rogue, and Sir Crunchy, giant crab wizard.

Thanks all for your work!

Those selected, please go to Discussion. You should greet your fellow players, and then we will work out how you are introduced.

Good luck and have fun!

Enjoy your game everyone!
