Personality
Terex is insatiably curious, and has a reputation among certain people for leaving little claw-marks on books while struggling to turn pages sized for larger people... not to mention his constant requests for assistance in getting the books on and off the shelves in the first place. His curiosity is wide-ranging and ever-hungry.

Terexaltherin is also generally a friendly, cheerful individual, save for when faced with great evil. Against such he shows a surprisingly determined streak. The Blackfire Adepts have, of late, wakened this side of him particularly strongly after seeing too much of the damage they cause.

Background
Terexaltherin hails from a world of the small, ruled over by gnomes and halflings and well-populated by fey and small dragon-kin like pseudodragons. He has always been an exceptional pseudodragon, He was the largest and cleverest of his siblings from the day they hatched, and proved an able hunter as he matured. What was most unusual about him, however, was his curiosity. Even as a wyrmling he loved to wander far from the nest, and when he grew old enough to live on his own he simply expanded the range of his explorations.

His curiosity often got him in trouble, but his quick thinking and athleticism always got him out of trouble. That is, until one day, when he was in the middle of one of his favorite activities--sneaking into libraries to read. This library happened to belong to a powerful gnomish wizard. When he appeared out of thin air, he startled the young pseudodragon so badly that Terex bumped into a carelessly-placed artifact in his haste to fly away.

It just so happened that said artifact created a portal to the Elemental Plane of Air, a portal which Terex accidentally flew through.

Terex searched desperately, but after a long, confusing time he had nearly resigned himself to being lost in the emptiness until he died. Fortunately he managed to catch sight of something a long way off, and followed in the direction it was going until he found one of the rare bits of solid ‘ground’ on the plane. Even more fortunately, it was a life-sustaining bit of land, so he was able to eek out an existence.

Life was just starting to get boring for him when a human wizard showed up. The little psuedodragon was terrified of this huge giant, having seen no one bigger than a halfling before, but it proved impossible to elude the wizard. Once she had cornered him the wizard calmly explained to Terex that she was Petrella, she meant him no harm, but wasn’t he not from around here? Slowly she teased the story of Terexaltherin’s adventure out of him, then explained that she was a Riftwarden, who protected the planes from rogue portals and the like… such as the one that was around here somewhere which she’d been tracking. Sheepishly Terex accepted her offer to come along and see if he could help her find it.

They did eventually find it, but the time together gave Terex’s curiosity the opportunity to reawaken after being hidden under the weight of survival. Petrella’s willingness to answer his questions just sharpened his desire to learn more, so by the time they found the portal Terexaltherin no longer wished to return to his home, not when there was so much else out there to see and learn. The Riftwarden agreed to take him with her, and once she had closed the portal she took him back to her home.

The first problem they discovered with their partnership was that Petrella had a library. Any time she asked Terex to do something or tried to help him learn magic (he had the talent for it, she would say) or… just about anything, he’d somehow manage to end up in the library reading. About the only exception to this was when she took him along somewhere, when his curiosity and surprising array of skills would lead instead to him exploring and often being the first to discover their goal, though his continued lack of actual magical training (as opposed to reading about it) meant that Petrella always had to be the one to actually fix the problems. Still, Terex proved surprisingly capable with his little tail stinger when it came to battle.

Eventually it became clear that, for all the good the little pseudodragon did and for all Terex’s good intentions, their partnership just wasn’t going to work out. So Terexaltherin was cut loose, and ended up mostly bouncing around between various Riftwardens. Most of them had libraries, too, so he didn’t mind, especially since he truly does enjoy helping people and feels proud playing his little part in saving the multiverse.

Time and experience have matured him, and he no longer is quite so single-minded about books. Indeed, he’s actually focused enough to pick up just a little bit of magic, as well as expanded his natural telepathy to some minor psionic powers. His long association with the Riftwardens has seen him explore and fight on half a dozen different planes, and pick up a variety of skills. Now he turns these skills against the Blackfire Adepts, after seeing one too many life destroyed by their works.

Appearance
Terexaltherin looks like a tiny dragon about 1' 3" long from snout to the base of his tail. His tail itself is almost twice the length of his body, and ends in a keen, venomous stinger. His scales are violet, tinged with crimson, and he keeps them and his tiny horns and claws clean and polished as much as he can.
