Hi Everyone!

Please dot into the gameplay thread and also provide the following information:

Character/Deck
Character PFS #

I need to send these to the database admins so they can add you to the backend thing we use to run the game

Timezone

We'll can potentially use this to determine the initial turn order, if there isn't a specific reason to use a certain one

Wanted to share some helpful notes/guidelines that I totally didn't mostly steal from a table I was just at...

Some ground expectations:
1. Try to post at least once a day in order to keep things moving. If you are going to be unavailable for an extended period of time, please ensure that your deck handler is linked and available for other players, and provide instructions so that other players can bot your turn. I recommend putting the link in your alias Profile (put it in the Class line, and wrap it in the url tags so it turns into a link -- see "How to format your text" below the reply box for details on how to do that if you aren't sure)
2. Do not wait around for my scenario update posts, just base your turn around the most recent update plus what other players have done since then. I'll get a scenario update out once per day unless there is nothing to update. I'll have other (non-update) posts interspersed throughout the day as needs require.
3. There are no take-backs or retcons, with exception of invalid plays/turns. Use resources wisely, and keep in mind the other perks you get in Organized Play such as accessory re-rolls and die bumps.

Things that make gameplay smoother:
1. If a location is shuffled, you can continue to examine or explore cards in it by rolling a die to see which card you examine/explore. No need to wait on me to post an update first with the shuffled deck.
2. When encountering a card, be very explicit in what card you are encountering. This helps other players at the same location know where you left off so they don't accidentally encounter the same cards that you just got through and have to re-do their turn.
3. Use your Notes section to describe any cards or powers that can be used to assist other players on their turns and that you are willing to use. If you post that certain cards are available for use, state what the card does as well.
4. When something impacts another player (a power that affects all characters at your location, or you're playing one of their cards), bold that thing so that it stands out.

Things that make deck upgrades smoother:
1. Write a list of your 2-5 most desired deck upgrades, in order, and roll 1d1000 for each of them.
2. That will let us look through those lists and see how we can get everyone their #1 preferred upgrade without lots of times lost in back-and-forth. If people are fighting over an upgrade, the d1000 roll is used to determine who gets it (highest roll wins).

I'd also like to set up a Google Hangout. We've had one at every table I've played in and we've used it every single day: very useful! If anyone if vehemently against that, let me know and we'll try to figure out some alternative.

Hopefully, we'll be able to start this weekend. If we can't do that, we'll just start whenever people are ready.

I'll also be the 6th player as Erasmus using Occult Adventures 2. He's currently tier 2 and will be replaying AD 1.

With me, that does make us a full table of 6 players; if that turns out to be a terrible idea and we are filled with regret, I'll take myself out.

A few UW cards of note in my deck for helping others.

Cloud Puff is buried (recharges with an easy Survival check) to let any player at any location ignore both the BYA and AYA powers of any bane.

Dwarf Caiman is revealed to add 1d6 to anyone's Stealth or Fortitude check.

Blessing of the Green Faith recharges to add 1 die to any check but only when used by someone other then me.

Ukuja is a martial and in my case will be pumping wisdom and using his Survival skill to fight.

We should be okay as long as there is some healing around.

The biggest issues 6 player tables face is running out of time.

There are a lot of locations to clear out and the more blessings we throw at checks the less we have to explore with.

Liberty's Edge

Reporting! I have a few options for who to play, but I wanted to get some feedback from the others before definitely choosing one. Listing them in order of preference:

- Enora - UM +OA2 (or the WotR version, if preferred)
- Amli - Warpriest CD
- Yoon - OA2 (or the MM version, if preferred)

For Enora, I would aim for utility spells and then eventually go for White Mage to serve as a healer of sorts.

Amli is great for support, since blessings used on her checks allow people to recharge a card of their own and can give bonuses to others by displaying armors in her hand.

Yoon is fun blaster with some auto-sustain abilities.

I only own the UM deck, so I'm limited to using that with my characters.

All of the characters above are tier 1, and Amli and Yoon have 1 game under their belts each.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Enora is cool but if we have lived long enough for you to get a role card then we probably have healing covered already. Not that it hurts to have some extra healing around.

The wiki doesn't have any information on the Warpriest deck but the blog shows Amli. Her powers synergize well with Ukuja but if I'm reading correctly, If you display a card to help someone with a check on their turn you effectively lose that card until the end of your turn. Or the beginning with a feat. That restricts how often you could do it.
It will help if someone has craft for ship repairs.

Yoon looks fun if we do get a dedicated healer.

Of the 3 Enora is probably the most powerful. I like how the WotR version has craft, Has a d12 for int instead of a d10, and the Occularium Scholar role lets you use your knowledge skill (Probably 1d12 +7 by then) in place of any check vs barriers and it lets you reveal a book to add 1d4 to any of your checks.

So my vote is WotR Enora.

Edit: While OA 2 has a few decent additions for Enora I would actually consider just playing her with the UM deck for now.
She goes best with OA 1 or PFT but any arcane heavy deck would do. And if you don't buy another deck any time soon it will still be fine. Enora wants spells and books and UM has both.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Since season 5 takes place using the Skull & Shackles set everyone unfamiliar with it will want to check out the rulebook found here.

Here are the highlights.

We have a ship.
At the beginning of each scenario we will pick which ship to use.
We start with the Merchantman but will gain access to more over time.
We also stash 1 plunder card facedown under the ship at the beginning of the scenario.
On your turn you are commanding the ship and anyone at your location is considered to be on the ship. Anyone at other locations during your turn are not considered to be on the ship.
When you are commanding the ship and decide to move or are forced to move anyone at your location can choose to move with you.
This doesn't get around things that restrict movement.
If the ship is Wrecked then no one can come with you when you move.

When you encounter a ship and are not commanding the ship (IE it isn't your turn) banish that ship.
If you are commanding the ship then you must fight the enemy ship. Often with a skill check.
If you beat the enemy ship and our ship isn't wrecked then we get a Plunder card. If you fail to beat the enemy ship then our ship takes structural damage = to the amount you failed by.
Structural damage can be prevented by effects that specify structural damage. (Mostly S&S cards) Any remaining damage can by prevented by any players discarding cards from their hand on a 1 for 1 basis.
If the ship takes any damage it becomes Wrecked.
If a wrecked ship takes Structural damage that damage comes off of the Blessing deck.
If you are commanding a wrecked ship you may at the start of your move step try to repair it using the listed skill. Usually Craft.
At the end of any turn banish 1 Plunder card under the ship.

When a card instructs you to add plunder you roll on on this chart and add a random card of that type.

PLUNDER TABLE
d6 Card Type
1 weapon
2 spell
3 armor
4 item
5 ally
6 choose 1 of the above 5 card types

Any Plunder at the end of the scenario is added to our acquired cards.

As Bigguyinblack said, this season uses Skulls and Shackles, so there will be ships and having a Craft Skill at the table would certainly help with repairs.

That said, ultimately just go with whoever you think would be the most fun. With a table of 6, its likely that someone will be well-suited to face any challenge we come across. Also, the nice thing about Erasmus is that he can fill any role just by selecting a different spirit.

Also: I've created a Google Hangout for this table; click here to join. Once again, if anyone is vehemently against using Google Hangouts, let me know and we'll work out some alternative.

Deck Handler ☀ Searching for: Spells, Blessings ☀ +1d8 to undead checks at my location ☀

Hi! This is my first PBP and really the first time using these forums, so I might be a touch slow. I'm PST, though I tend to stay up later than I reasonably should.

I'll be playing as Uliah from the warpriest deck, #122606-1002

I have a preemptive deck, but my cards are in your MM box AAUGHWHY so I'll have a solid answer tomorrow when we grab em.

But for now:

1. Scimitar
2. Bastard Sword
3. Cure
4. Divine Favor
5. Magic Weapon
6. Detect Evil
7. Chain Mail
8. Blood Periapt
9. Camel
10. Recruit
11. Riding Horse
12. Blessing of the Gods
13. Blessing of Saerenrae
14. Blessing of Gorum
15. Blessing of Kols

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Interesting. Uliah makes a very powerful divine caster. Does the Warpriest have any basic attack spells? Like Flameblade? You would do the same damage as if you discarded your rapier but with a decent chance of recharging the spell.

Deck upgrade preference: Spell 6, maybe Item 5 or Ally 6 Deck Handler

Enora it is, then! Was looking forward to playing as her anyways.

I am playing as Uliah at tier 4, so I can answer that question. The warpriest deck DOES NOT have any attack spells of any type. In my opinion, their characters don't need it as they have access to very powerful weapons and armor early, so their Divine skill is mostly to recharge their support spells (mainly Cure!). I did combine my Uliah with UM because that's what I have, but even now I haven't felt the need to actually take any attack spells.

Deck Handler ☀ Searching for: Spells, Blessings ☀ +1d8 to undead checks at my location ☀

Happy to see you pick Enora, I thought she was interesting!

I haven't been able to look too deep into the war priest class deck yet because I simply don't have it with me.

Does UM have decent support for divine casters? I was considering getting it given that I mostly play divine casters (warpriest & paladin, possibly cleric in the future). Otherwise I might opt for a different ultimate deck.

Deck upgrade preference: Spell 6, maybe Item 5 or Ally 6 Deck Handler

It has very nice support for Divine casters. Overall, the spells are meant for caster characters who don't have a very good STR or Melee skill and need to use their Divine for combat. However, there's a few very good support spells, like Fire Snake, Fly, Locate Object, etc., and some very good healing spells.

I think Ultimate Combat is a better pick overall as it has even better and more interesting weapon and armor choices, as well as some support-oriented spells.

Most cleric characters would really enjoy access to the UM spells though.

Hey, all TColMaster here. I'm playing Oloch, who is tier 2 (technically about to hit 3). For those of you who does not know, Oloch is a very capable melee fighter and great and protecting others who find themselves in trouble. I might check out combat then, I'm still at a toss up if I want to expand my decks yet at all but if I'm going to be joining in on PBP's and playing the ACG at cons I might as well.

Also hi TCol! I'm playing Oloch in Mummy's mask right now, and he's so fun to use! I can confirm that he does need to buddy-up to get the most out of him.

Uliah wrote:

Help me, Oloch! You're my only hope!

Anyway, we're still waiting on one more person, which is totally fine since the backend database thing is not cooperating with me at the moment. Hopefully, we'll be able to get started tomorrow or the day after.

Also, we have enough people here to start discussing turn order. Based on the characters we have, there doesn't seem to be a strong strategic advantage to a specific turn order. If no one has a strong preference, we can really easily set it up by timezone and typical posting time. That said, the turns are cyclical anyway, so any decision we make will only really affect the first go-around.

Also Also, if you haven't already, please join the Google Hangout. We'll use this for asking for help on a roll, communicating when our turns are posted, asking to temp close locations, and things like that. Once again, if you're vehemently against Google Hangouts, we can work out an alternative.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Odds are good that one of my cohorts will be Leryn unless there is a strong reason to choose 2 others. Leryn lets me examine the top card of my location deck at the start of my turn.
If it isn't a card I want to encounter I can leave it there and let someone else go after it. So I'm fine with going first.

Will Oloch be able to complete the whole AP before tiering up too much?

Hopefully everyone joins the Hangout but if not I'll mention that with the exception of my bow (I will struggle to hold on to weapons early on.) Feel free to use your judgement on any of my resources. You don't need to ask.

Honestly, don't know, and if someone does, and I need to make a new character, let me know now so I can make it happen!

A similar conversation came up recently and I learned 2 things.

1. Most seasons have 5 scenarios per adventure and have 5 adventures.
2. There is apparently a rule that lets you finish up an AP even if you would have played your 6th scenario already at tier 6.

Actually I just remembered it is a moot point. You have to be within 1 tier to play. You will hit tier 3 before we finis the tier 1 scenarios.

Grand Lodge

The first game we play will be my 6th game at tier 2, so after that I would go up to tier 3. It'd be close, but it would be possible.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

I edited my post. You can't play your Oloch because you will be out of tier partway through adventure 1.

Then I will probably start a Nok Nok goblin Fight deck with UC added in. I won't get the deck posted up until tonight, I have to head off to work and then a Keyforge launch party. It will be up this evening sometime.

Ok, deck made quickly, but its ready to go. When I get home I'll fill in the card info in my description like I did for Oloch.

Nok-Nok Goblin Fight / Ultimate Equipment

Deck upgrade preference: Spell 6, maybe Item 5 or Ally 6 Deck Handler

So, I didn't post my deck list but you can find it in the link below my name. All cards have their descriptions added, in case you are curious about what they do.

I was hoping to team up with Oloch because Enora with just UM spells has surprisingly few combat options, but I grabbed a staff, so that might help.

A couple of updates and reminders:

The database seems to be cooperating, so I'll start doing the prep work so the start.

As a reminder, please verify ownership of your products if you haven't so already, as detailed approximately halfway down the page here. Basically, just take a picture of your things and send it to morkxii@orgplayonline.com with your Paizo Forum Handle and PFS #.

Another reminder, we need your character's PFS Number to put you in the database we use to run games. If you haven't posted it, please do so.

Another another reminder, we need to decide a turn order. So far we have:

  • Ukuja
  • [The rest of us in some order]
  • Uliah

Deck upgrade preference: Spell 6, maybe Item 5 or Ally 6 Deck Handler

Enora's character number is 233972-1006. I have no particular preference as far as turn order goes, as long as someone goes before me at least for this first mission.

I will be sending evidence of ownership shortly.

Deck Handler ☀ Searching for: Spells, Blessings ☀ +1d8 to undead checks at my location ☀

Updated my deck handler, it should be linked now. I now have my warpriest deck physically so I am down to play whenever we can reasonably start.

I've been here watching AAUGHWHY set up stuff for a solid two hours now lmao.

It's been a couple of days without hearing from our 6th player, so for now, we'll just proceed as a table of 5.

I sent the email to the database admins to get everyone placed at the table. We'll start as soon as they're able to get that taken care of; probably tomorrow morning.

Since there didn't see to be too many strong feelings about turn order, I just made one up:

  • Ukuja
  • Nok-Nok
  • Enora
  • Erasmus
  • Uliah

Since this scenario dictates where we all start, we can probably safely post our starting hands now. That way we can get started as soon as everything is ready.

Looking forward to it!

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

I was thinking. Since Enora has a lot of less then stellar choices starting out, How about adding a Cure to her deck? She can pass it to Uliah or at worst banish it to heal herself. It is a basic so you just replace it after the scenario.

Deck upgrade preference: Spell 6, maybe Item 5 or Ally 6 Deck Handler

Sure. I was thinking the same thing. I'll just try to make sure to banish it so that the slot can open up for something I can use more permanently.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

I imagine passing it would be better for now since you don't have basics from another deck to replace it.

Second half of this post is worth a read.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Speaking of posts i might be wrong about Enora + OA2.

Tyler Beck aka Cartmenbeck feels that Enora belongs with OA 1.

I have played with him and that Enora at tier 4. It had like a dozen boons applied to it and was the CD version but I have been playing this game a few months while he been playing it from the beginning I think.

So possibly OA 1 is the correct choice. It seems to have some good buffs and deck manipulation but very few attacks.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

Sorry, I didn't see the private message in time to start. But, six players is too many, anyway.

With six players each player gets about five turns.
With five, about six turns
With four, about seven or eight turns.

So, good luck, all...

Sorry we missed you! Maybe next time!

Google Sheets Info

Couple of things that I'm surprised hasn't come up.

1. Timezone you reside in?
2. Times you know you can't play (besides sleeping)

For me, I reside in CST (central US), and my work hours vary wildly each day. For example, today I work starting at 4:30am until 3:30 pm. Tomorrow my shift doesn't start until 2pm, but I may be called in earlier to work if need be.

Also, Thanksgiving Holiday (THU, FRI, SAT) I will be out of town visiting my parents and internet access will be spotty at best. I don't know the BR's plan for the holiday (if he wants to keep running or take a couple day break), but feel free to bot me those days if need be. I will be back Sunday afternoon to resume regular posting!

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Timezone was asked at the top of the first post in this thread. And most of PbP slows down during the holidays and pretty much stops around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

For the upcoming holiday, we'll go on a "soft hiatus:" we'll keep going with the understanding that things will be much slower or even halt completely.

If its 3 AM and you can't sleep, or things slow down as the food coma sets in, or something like that and you want to post, feel free to do so. If you're busy and you don't get a chance to post, that's 100% fine as well.

I will be out of town for most of Friday. If people are still posting, I'll post a scenario update before I leave but will be AFK for most of the day. I'll still be reachable from the hangout.

Shipwreck Graveyard
At This Location: At the start of your turn, succeed at a Wisdom or Survival 5 check or your ship is dealt 1d4 Structural damage.

Feathered Devil (Intact)
When Commanding this Ship: When you would discard cards as Structural damage, you may recharge 1 or more allies instead of discarding that number of cards.

Feathered Devil (Wrecked)
When Commanding this Ship: When you would discard an ally for its power, bury it instead.

Even with Erasmus's wise ancestors (™) adding 1d4 to Wisdom this might get failed so some rules reminders.

Structural damage can only be prevented by some cards or powers that none of us have or any of us can discard any number of cards to prevent that amount of damage. So to prevent 3 damage 3 of us can discard 1 card.

If it is your turn you can recharge an ally instead of discarding a card to prevent damage. To Repair: Craft 4

So let's finish this asap.
If any damage gets through the ship becomes wrecked.

Any structural damage done to a wrecked ship comes off of the blessing deck.

At the end of each turn the ship is wrecked we lose one plunder at random.

At the start of each turn the Commander may try to repair the ship with a skill check.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

We are nearing the end and should consider upgrades. I'm a fan of using common sense to assign the acquired cards and only rolling off when 2 players are prioritizing the same upgrade.

My preferred upgrades in order of importance.

High Priority
1. Ally 1 - "Fire Gecko" Reveal to add 1d4 and the fire trait to my combat checks.
2. Weapon B - "Wendifisa Spear" Reveal to use my survival +1d12 +1.

Middle Priority
3. Blessing B - "Blessing of Milani" Discard to add 2 dice to a dexterity or wisdom non-combat check.

Low Priority
4. Weapon 1 "Stone Axe +1" Reveal to use survival +1d6 +1, Discard for an extra d6.
5. Ally 1 "Raven" Recharge to add 1d10 to my check to acquire a weapon, an armor, or an item.

♪All Enora wants for Christmas are spells♪

Deck upgrade preference: Spell 6, maybe Item 5 or Ally 6 Deck Handler

If I may, I'd like to take the Spell 1. While my Spell B choices are good, my Spell 1 choices are much much better and would be a significant boost in Enora's usefulness.

I'm thinking of grabbing Pyrotechnic Blast or Life Drain:

Pyrotechnic Blast:

For your combat check or your check against a barrier that has the Lock or Obstacle trait, discard this card to use your Arcane or Divine skill +2d4.

After playing this card, if you do not have either the Arcane or Divine skill, banish it; otherwise, you may succeed at an Arcane 8 or Divine 10 check to recharge this card instead of discarding it.

Life Drain:

For your combat check, discard this card to use your Arcane or Divine skill + 2d4. Shuffle a random card from your discard pile into your deck.

After playing this card, if you do not have either the Arcane or Divine skill, banish it; otherwise, you may succeed at an Arcane 9 or Divine 11 check to recharge this card instead of discarding it.

My choices, in order:

Armor 1
Ally 1
Weapon B

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

So in theory we have

Uliah - Spell B
Nok-Nok - Armor 1
Ukuja - Ally 1
Enora - Spell 1
Erasmus - ???

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Scenario Reward:
For the rest of the Adventure Path, when setting up each scenario, each character may temporarily replace 1 blessing in his deck with the blessing Blessing of Besmara.

At the end of each scenario, return that card to the game box.

Blessing of Besmara - Divine Besmara
Discard this card to add 1 die to any check.

Discard this card to add 2 dice to any check that has the Swashbuckling trait.

Discard this card to explore your location.

After you play this card, if it matches the top card of the blessings discard pile, recharge this card instead of discarding it.

Nok-Nok/TColMaster - Armor 1 + DEX Feat
Enora/Akaitora - Spell 1 + INT Feat
Erasmus/AAUGHWHY - No Deck Upgrade
Uliah/PinesAwait - Spell B + STR Feat

Correct, if there's an armor I like, sure I'll use it, otherwise there are a couple of B weapons that are interesting, like a hand cannon!!!! (lol).

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

So I'm thinking ahead to what card feat I want to take.

We will play 4 tier 2 scenarios before we get our second card feat so I'm looking at adding an item to my deck so I can add Angelstep to my deck.

Angelstep (Item 2) Cures a character at my location for 1d4 +1 cards. buried unless I make a Survival 9 check to recharge it. Is a plant so doesn't count against my hand size.

An extra cure would be great but I want to know how many of us will prioritize item 2. If I have to wait until we get our 3rd or 4th item 2 to add this I may as well take Ally as my first card feat instead.
