We have lost our frontliner Paladin and would like to find a replacement. We are just about to be on Part 2 of Book 1. You can find more details about me, how I run things, etc HERE.
Otherwise, if you are interested in joining we are looking for a primary frontliner/meatshield. Creation guidelines below. Work into your background why you were at the Exaltation Gala. A link to nobility/a senator would be preferable.
Recruitment will be open through Monday 1/14. Be prepared to wait a short time to join into the game for when we get to a part that makes sense for you to join.
- Starting Level: 2
- Wealth: 160gp
- Classes: Core, APG, ACG allowed. No Occult. Can use unchained for Barb, Monk, Rogue, Summoner.
- Race: Standard races or Aasimer would be preferred. If you want to play something unusual I may allow it based on background. Keep in mind Taldor is very human-centric and generally looks down on other races, except Aasimer.
- HP: Max at 1st, half + 1 + con bonus after
- Attributes: 20 Point Buy, no stat below 8 before racial adjustments
- Traits: 2, 1 must be campaign trait.
- Drawback: 1 drawback is allowed for 1 additional trait. Be sure to incorporate your drawback in your character. WARNING: I will do my best to make sure your drawback does come into play at some point if you do take one.
- Background skills will be in use.
- No 3rd Party content (including the no feat tax rules)
0-1) Download & read the Players Guide. This will provide a lot of help and insight for the other requirements.
1) Develop character concept. Crunch does not need to be complete, but it can be. Character concept should include the following:
- Class
- Alignment
- Characters link to Taldor, and specifically Oparra: How long have you been in Oparra? Are you a resident? If not, why are you here now?
- Livelihood: How does/has your character make a living?
- Motivation: Why are you interested in Taldan politics? Why would someone take interest in you regarding politics?
- Rollplay vs Roleplay: How will your character contribute to the group in combat? What about out of combat?
- Progression: How do you plan to mechanically develop the character (ie dips, multiclassing, PrCs, etc)? If you don't have a plan yet, that is ok.
- Background: What is the characters backstory? Doesn't need to be a novel, but at least 1-3 paragraphs of an overview. (IE what is your history, what are you doing now and what are you trying to achieve in the future)
2) Let me know your time zone and the time(s) of day you will most likely be able to post.
3) Tell me about your experience with PbP? How many PbP games are you currently participating in?

Fatham, Human Bloodrager 1/ Wizard 1, at your service.
Most of the questions are answered in my Background section of my character. The ones that aren't I'll answer below:
- Rollplay vs Roleplay: How will your character contribute to the group in combat? What about out of combat? Rollplay will be as a buffing polearm front-liner initially, eventually using transmutation magic to transform into other creatures to duke it out on the front-line. Though I will have some wizard levels, I hope to make up for that with the Toughness feat, magic, and bloodrage to be able to handle primary front-line role. Roleplay will be as a headstrong lowborn, though accepted in society as a curiosity for his athletic prowess, trying to become an equal.
- Progression: How do you plan to mechanically develop the character (ie dips, multiclassing, PrCs, etc)? If you don't have a plan yet, that is ok. I'll be an Eldritch Knight build, going into that as soon as I qualify.
- Background: What is the characters backstory? Doesn't need to be a novel, but at least 1-3 paragraphs of an overview. (IE what is your history, what are you doing now and what are you trying to achieve in the future) See Background
2) Let me know your time zone and the time(s) of day you will most likely be able to post. I post during the day and evening in Mountain Time Zone.
3) Tell me about your experience with PbP? How many PbP games are you currently participating in? [i]I have been doing PbP for around 5 years, and have nearly 19,000 posts here. I'm in around 5-6 games most usually. Thank you for your consideration!

Thadeus Stradavor |

Bilton Stradavor aasimar, primalist bloodrager 2.
Profile is set and has my background which will answer quite a few questions, the others are answered below.
Rollplay vs roleplay, as a bloodrager I'm going to beat things with my sword and take hits, eventually buffing myself and maybe do some evocation. As an aasimar nobleman with an anger issue I plan on playing to the two different aspects of his personality being a good person with a angry side who is trying to prove himself to everyone and himself while trying to make Taldan great again.
Mechanically I'll probably stay a bloodrager for entirity of his career, though I'm up for ideas.
I'm in the EST and I'll primarily be able to post in the evenings.
I don't have any experience with pbp but I've been playing f2f regularly with a group for the last 3 years. I've also been a long time lurker on the forums and finally decided to make my own accoumt. I currently am not in any other games and am just looking for a start my first game!
Good luck to everyone and thanks for the consideration!

I present to you Otavia, a human dandy (ranger archetype) who inadvertently walks the life Cayden approves whilst trying to catch Shelyn's eye with his poetry and love for art and life. I actually had drafted a(nother) character for your original recruitment thread, but never got around to finishing it, so the setting and player's guide were still fresh on my mind as Otavio came rolling out of the gate of my mind.
He's unlike any other character I've ever made for Pathfinder, ha.
NAME Otavio Stivalo
CLASS Ranger (Dandy)
RACE Human
ALIGNMENT Chaotic Good
BAB: +2
HP: 25 (2d10)
F +5 | R +5 | W +1
Attack - Longsword: +5 - 1D8+3 (19-20 / x2)
AC: 19 (+5 armor, +2 dex, +1 buckler, +1 dodge)
STR 17 INT 10
DEX 14 WIS 13
CON 14 CHA 14
FEATS
H Dodge
1 Toughness
R2 Combat Expertise (Fencing Style)
SKILLS
1 Knowledge Local* (2) +5
2 Diplomacy* (2) +7
3 Sense Motive* (2) +7
4 Perception* (2) +6
5 Stealth* (2) +7 (-ACP)
6 Bluff* (2) +7
7 Intimidate* (2) +7
BG Perform Oratory* (2) +10
BG Artristy: Poetry* (2) +5
Misc bonuses: +2 bluff, diplopmacy, knowledge, perception, sense motive and survival checks against courtiers, officials, nobles and gentry from Taldor.
1x day gain a +2 bonus to a bluff, diplomacy or intimidate check.
TRAITS
1 Rising Star: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive, Survival and Artistry: Perform Oratory. Perform Oratory is a class skill. Once each day, you can invoke your patron’s reputation or name one of your own prominent works to gain a +2 circumstance bonus on a single Bluff, Diplomacy, or Intimidate check. You begin the game with a masterwork collection of poetry (+2 to perform oratory),a gift from your patron.
2 Threatening Defender: the penalty from Combat Expertise is reduced by 1.
3 Lion’s Audacity: You attack life with the ferocity of a charging lion and inspire others with your audacious deeds. Once per day when you make a charge attack, you can inspire allies within 30 feet. They gain an additional +2 trait bonus on attack and damage rolls when they make a charge attack before the beginning of your next turn.
4 Vain: Whenever you fail an opposed CHA check, you take a -2 penalty on all CHA checks for the next 24 hours (drawback).
SPECIAL
Favored Nation: Taldor - gain +2 bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against courtiers, officials, nobles, and gentry from that nation. Likewise, he gains a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A dandy can attempt the appropriate Knowledge checks untrained to identify such people from the selected country.
Dandy Skills: add Bluff, Diplomacy, Knowledge (local), Knowledge (nobility), and Sense Motive to the list of class skills, instead of Handle Animal, Knowledge (dungeoneering), Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (nature), and Survival.
Rumor Empathy (Ex): A dandy can alter the flow and spread of rumors in his favor. This functions similarly to wild empathy, except that it takes 1 day (8 hours of work), instead of 1 minute, and it affects the general tenor of a rumor instead of a wild animal. A successful rumor empathy check allows the dandy to increase or decrease the rumor’s tone by one step. For example, he could make an indifferent rumor friendly and thus positive toward its target, or an unfriendly rumor hostile and thus even more negative toward its target than it was originally. The difficulty of influencing a rumor depends on the size of the community in which it is spreading. The DC of the check is 15 in a village or smaller settlement. This DC increases by 5 and the number of days required to attempt the check increases by 2 for every settlement size category larger than a village—to a maximum of DC 40 and 11 days to affect a rumor spreading through an entire metropolis. If the rumor is only spreading through a smaller segment of the population, such as the elven district in a larger metropolis, use the population of that smaller segment to determine the DC and number of days of work required to use rumor empathy. The DC also increases by 10 if the rumor is about the dandy himself, since the dandy is obviously a biased source with respects to rumors about his own person. This ability replaces wild empathy.
Track: add half level to Survival skill checks to follow tracks.
Combat Style Feat: Combat Expertise (Fencing Style)
Human Bonus Feat
Skilled: gain one extra skill point per level.
Gear
Longsword, Buckler, Scalemail, MW book of olde poetry, a writer’s kit. Need to flesh it out, but that's the basic gist of it.
Otavio was born and raised in Oparra and as such is a resident, but he has left the city for a couple of years in his late teens to roam the countryside for (mercenary) work and inspiration. Work was rarely found unless it involved being underpaid and willing to engage in violence, what with the many conflicts between local lords, but sources for inspiration were so plentiful that the poet returned to Oparra with more poetry floating through his head than his mind could handle.
On his return to Oparra, with enough gold lining his pockets to kick back and take some time to process his creative thoughts and deal with that aching thirst, Otavio started writing poetry. Reciting it at the taverns and inns he frequented took a couple of drinks at first, but later on he managed to do it even while sober. Booze was the key to drown out the bad memories and nagging voices in his head and put afloat his most inner thoughts and feelings. Booze was the encouragement he needed to take the stage and share his works. Booze loosened his tongue so that he dared voice his real thoughts and opinions on life. Booze both opened and closed doors for the poet, to the point that his one-time love interest put him for the choice: me or the bottle.
Now, she’s gone and the poet inside him knows that if he doesn’t start moderating his alcohol intake, he’ll never have the years he need to hone his artistic skills so that he can one day call himself a master poet. An as of yet unmentioned but equally important bit is that Otavio has found himself a patron, a person of great renown and even greater wealth, someone who believes in him. Believes! Little does he know that this patron might just turn his life upside down by introducing him to a certain group of people involved in the ongoing succession conflict ...
Appearance
Bouncing between the haggard looks of a handsome drunkard and the carefully constructed poet persona before alcohol comes into play, Otavio takes great pride in his looks. Simple yet elegant clothes indicate his social status, but also helps to separate him from the chaff. Otavio normally dons a stylish black coat with polished bronze buttons and a high puffy collar that kisses the ears, with a straight-forward black gilette and white shirt underneath. Sturdy black leather boots that go up and past the ankles collect the puffy ends of his - what a surprise - black trousers. Depending on his mood he either lets his coppery brown hair grow to the point where it needs a knot or, when the emotion overwhelms him, has it cut short to the point where it barely covers his ears. Right now, his hair is mid-length and recovering from his past-break-up hairmageddon.
Personality
Otavio has a thirst for life and doesn’t know when to stop drinking when life’s cornucopia is overflowing. This translates to as much that when his pockets are overflowing, he spends it lavishly on wine, food, liquor, art and the left-over coppers on ale. He consumes all that life has to give him and when Otavio develops a passion for something or someone, it can turn into a Gnomish obsession. The ebb and tide of booze washes away such sentiments over time, making space for a new obsession and so the dandy bounces from one high to another. The lows that linger in between bring out the disgruntled artiste and tend to turn his overly obsessive self into an ambitious monster with a one-mind track: to achieve success, to make the cornucopia overflow once again. He has seen how horrible life can be and under no circumstances does Otavio want to return to that life.
Characters link to Taldor, and specifically Oparra: How long have you been in Oparra? Are you a resident? If not, why are you here now?
Otavio was born and raised in Oparra to a moderately well-off family of cobblers and tailors. The sixth son of an untalented shoemaker, Otavio left the city for a couple of years in his late teens to roam the countryside for (mercenary) work and inspiration. He wouldn’t be a shoemaker, he’d be a true artist. Work, however, was rarely found unless it involved being underpaid and willing to engage in violence, what with the many conflicts between local lords, but sources for inspiration were so plentiful that the would-be poet returned to Oparra with more poetry floating through his head than his mind could handle.
Livelihood: How does/has your character make a living?
He writes poetry and performs oral recitations of his own work and the works of bygone poets. As the booze starts to flow more and more profanity will start to creep in, helping Otavio to alter the original works, sometimes elevating them to new levels. This is usually where he gets taken off the stage by the more concerned innkeep, theater boss or owner of the art gallery.
Before his current stint in Oparra, Otavio spent a couple of years as a sellsword, fighting for whoever actually bothered to pay their soldiers.
Nowadays Otavio has the benefit of having a patron, someone who helps steer his career in the right direction. Someone who can convince him to stop craddling that damned bottle. I have left this patron unnamed as I figure it is best to work out who this patron might be with you, the DM, to help integrate Otavio into the campaign.
Motivation: Why are you interested in Taldan politics? Why would someone take interest in you regarding politics?
His mercenary work threw Otavio into the deep end of the everyday misery and drudgery that dominate the life of the Taldor lower class. Paired with the brutality of conflict and the impact this has on the mortal psyche, the poet feels that Taldor needs change. Swords, so he feels, are too sharp an object for such change and will only cause a mess. Words, why not words? Otavio believes words can be shaped into any tool you want them to be and hopes that through his works, he can help facilitate change.
Why would someone take an artist serious when it comes to politics? Perhaps because he has a point. There’s too much conflict, too much pressure on the common people, and the system simply isn’t working anymore. Maybe he’s just a charming bastard who, in his vice-riddled ways, happens to have a knack for electrifying people’s souls with energetic speeches and impromptu bits of poetry.
He definitely isn’t a lord, does not behave like a lord, nor fights like a lord and in that regard Otavio is not a typical political powerplayer. All he can achieve will have to be done through mixing hard work and talent. Oh, and a lot of alcohol.
Rollplay vs Roleplay:
The Dandy archetype turns the master of the outdoors into a survivalist of the concrete jungle while maintaining the ranger core of a high BAB, plenty HP and combat style feats. Otavio is built to last, having quite a bit of HP and AC, and when he dings level three he’ll gain Endurance through the Ranger class and take the Drunken Brawler feat to be able to get temporary hit points and, at the cost of his reflex save, bonusses to his will and fort saves.
Outside of combat he offers a wide skillset to deal with social situations and challenges. The Dandy’s Favored Nation and Rumor Empathy lets him navigate the swamps of Taldor politics and, at level four and beyond, he can share some of these bonusses with his companions during events of high intrigue. He makes for an odd combination of social finesse and frontline durability, just the way Cayden likes it.
Progression:
Otavio will take the Drunken Brawler feat at level 3 and after that, I’m not entirely sure what direction to go. The AP itself is a complete mystery to me so if I find the party to be in a lot of combat Otavio might pick up Power Attack. Otherwise Otavio might shore up his defenses with feats like Iron Will or acquire a +2/+2 to skills feat. Being a ranger, he’s pretty set on what he gets.
I am a Dutchman, live in the Netherlands, and reside in the CET zone. I tend to post during the mornings and evenings. Posting in the afternoons depends on how busy my day is, what with work and all. I’m ‘relatively new’ to Paizo’s PbP forums compared to some here, but I’ve been an avid Popmundo player (a web-browser music RPG of sorts) for over 10 years, where I’ve engaged in heavy narrative roleplay.
I’m currently active in four campaigns (Ruins of Adventure, Hell’s Rebels, Kingmaker with an Intrigue twist, and Mummy’s Mask) and have dabbled in some PFS play, a Starfinder game (which sadly wasn’t for me), and two other campaigns that either ended or saw people leave because the game fizzled out for reasons. I only apply to campaigns when I feel my character is something I’ll enjoy playing for a long time and when the campaign itself strikes me as something that won’t bore me anytime soon.

And he can't frontline! For shame!
Well, I may continue with my idea, as he would indeed be a front line fighter, if not that, the other idea I had was an ulfen/kellid mixed ancestry warrior seeking to be a guard, he would be focused around invulnerable rager, combat expertise, and the stalwart feats for all the DR.
He would also likely take dragon totem rage power line for flavor.

Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |

no doubt! well, I suppose I'll make that Kellid/Ulfen fellow. Though I wonder how a fighter would hold up to the swashbuckler for the taldane duelist haha. The similar style could pose interesting. Was the swashbuckler trained in it? If so, she may have met dartaniel before.
Yep, Capricia was trained in the art of rondelero...just not in Taldor. She got her training in Little Oppara in the Shackles and is a pirate playing at being a respectable part of Taldan society.

My Character is probably not what you want but I figured I’d put him up for consideration anyway because I was an applicant during your first recruitment.
The statistics I have are the same level 1 character I submitted before so I’d have to recalculate the extra level and gold but otherwise he’s good to go.

- Class: Ex-Cleric
- Alignment: Lawful neutral
- Characters link to Taldor, and specifically Oparra: Gedeon was born in Oparra.
- Livelihood: Gedeon works as a teacher. He has a wide variety of knowledge in religious affairs and has a respectable degree of insight into general history and the history of nobility. He has worked as a tutor (although no one calls him for his swordsmanship anymore) and has worked as a substitute for various institute of education throughout the Inner Sea region, but mainly in Taldor.
- Motivation: Gedeon used to be active adventure back when Aroden was alive. With his death and none of his spells to work with Gedeon was effectively forced into early retirement. But it's been well over one hundred years now and he's almost old even by elf standards. This is basically a midlife crisis for him.
- Rollplay vs Roleplay: Honestly this is going to be a bit tricky because while playing him out as an elf who's been around for a long time will be fairly easy the fact that he's a cleric without any of the actual cleric abilities is going to really stagger him in fights.
- Progression: I'm not sure how he'll progress either. With the idea of him being an old elf who was an active cleric I built him with that idea in mind. Now the reasonable argument could be made that I could multi-class into something else or just switch to a different god but that kind of defeats the point of the whole character as he is supposed to be a somewhat veteran adventure. The idea isn't that he's learning new skills and abilities as with regular level progression but rather he's remembering the skills that he's forgotten over time
- Background: Gedeon Lem was born in Oparra to servants of a noble family. This family was particularly devout in its worship of Aroden and Gedeon was raised to be a servant in the family just as his parents were. He naturally fell into the faith and took to it like a fish to water, eventually gaining spells from his god and was sent to the Temple of Aroden. He trained as an acolyte and then worked as a priest in the temple for years and eventually went off and became a successful adventure.
Then Aroden died.
The loss of his spells mid-adventure nearly spelled doom for him and his party. After learning of his God’s fate and the chaos that ensued he fell into a state of depression. Being an elf this depression took years for him to get over. By the time he finally came out of it the Church of Aroden itself was left as little more than a hollow husk.
Gedeon spent the next century working to preserve the legacy and will of his God, teaching his wisdom to any who would listen and maintain the temple in Oparra to the best of his abilities. It was futile. today most only know Aroden as the dead god, dismiss his wisdom due to his death. The temple has fallen into his hands, still maintained and left in full splendor on the outside but hollow and empty on the inside. Books and scrolls sit unopened, rooms left to gather dust, and less than half a dozen who still maintain some worship of Aroden. But all of those who do are the deniers. Those who say that Aroden is not dead, that he has abandoned the world or is simply testing his people.
2) I'm in Eastern Standard Time and I should be able to post at least once a day at around 7 or 8 p.m.
3) I'm game mastering three and playing in 2.

Hello again GM Dak! May I introduce Oso the Redeemed, tiefling paladin of Sarenrae.
His life was very likely saved by a travelling priestess of the Dawnflower. Seeing something in the boy that nobody else had, she brought him with her back to the city of Maharev in Qadira. There, she taught him that anyone, no matter their family or past deeds, could be redeemed. As Oso grew, he studied Sarenrae’s teachings and embraced her dual-edged doctrine of forgiveness and justice. His natural talent with the sword became obvious as he grew, as did his devotion to the church that had turned his life around. At the age of 25, he took the name Oso as his own and pledged both his soul and his sword to Sarenrae. Now a paladin, he searches for those like him who need a second chance.
Oso was sent to Oparra by Amal al-Sahba, High Priestess of Sarenrae in Maharev, Qadira several months ago. His official orders were to support the church of the Dawnflower in Oparra, spread the light of redemption amongst the poor and downtrodden, and protect the people from the forces of darkness and evil. Unofficially, he was told to find Martella Lotheed and pledge himself to her service and the service of her patron, Princess Eutropia. The High Priestess hoped that, as a native of Taldor, Oso would provoke less suspicion of foreign support for the princess - as well as perhaps find the peace that had continued to evade the young man in Qadira.
Oso tends to the sick and wounded at one of the small churches of the Dawnflower in Oparra. Between donations and tithes, the clergy can provide him with a bed and simple food. He doesn’t ask for more.
Recently - nudged and prodded by his fellow priests - Oso entered and won a wrestling competition. While the public adoration is not unwelcome (and neither is the extra money such attention supplies), Oso has claimed none of it for himself and instead uses his notoriety to spread the word of the Dawnflower even as he hopes to catch the attention of Martella. He does his best to ignore the rumors that his victory is only due to fiendish pacts he made with his ancestors, or that he cheated because “there’s no way such a worthless mongrel could win without underhand tricks”.
As he has lived in Oparra for the last several months, Oso has realized just how much the games of the powerful shape the lives of those less fortunate. His duty to the High Priestess is now coupled with his own desire for justice, reform, and the redemption of Oparra. Only then will he see less servants asking if he can set a broken bone from a lord’s beating, less women asking him where they can hide from an abusive master while the baby grows inside them, less children who flinch and can’t meet his gaze as he raises a hand in welcome. If he can help support Princess Eutropia’s claim to the throne, perhaps she can change Taldor for the better of all its people.
In combat, Oso defends himself with his shield as he subdues his opponents with his scimitar - using the techniques learned from the clergy of the Dawnflower to avoid the spilling of blood whenever possible. When he encounters unrepentant evil, the righteous fury of the Dawnflower infuses him and lends strength to his arms even as it protects him from harm. A quick prayer to Sarenrae is often enough to reinvigorate him when he is hurt, and the light of the Dawnflower seems to shine brighter on one so devoted to denying his ancestral heritage of death and destruction.
Outside of combat, Oso relies on his natural charm to ease the hearts and minds of those around him. When that is not sufficient, he finds his fiendish looks often enough to send any would-be attackers scattering without resorting to violence. From his patients, Oso also hears firsthand about the noble houses and the games between them.
Details about Oso’s character build and progression can be found here.

1a Characters link to Taldor, and specifically Oparra: How long have you been in Oparra? Are you a resident? If not, why are you here now?
She is from a lesser noble house in the outlying prefecture but currently resides in Oparra at her place of work. She has been residing in Oparra for the past two years while completing her courtesan training and bravo training which her parents were able to arrange for her.
1b Livelihood: How does/has your character make a living?
She is a courtesan and works in the local high-end establishment, due to her very good looks, where she finds it easy to gather all of the current rumors, plans, and schemes from her patrons.
1c Motivation: Why are you interested in Taldan politics? Why would someone take interest in you regarding politics?
She is a Senatorial Hopeful and wants to some day use her influence in the the Senate chambers. Her profession gives her access to some high profile senators and nobles and she is keeping track of all of them for future favors in the Senate.
1d Rollplay vs Roleplay: How will your character contribute to the group in combat? What about out of combat?
She is a front line lightly armored Paladin that would rather talk her way out of combat instead of fight, but if it comes to fighting, she is a trained Bravo and will go toe to toe with anyone. Out of combat she is a smooth talker and is trained at gathering secrets from her profession and using those to her best advantage to advance in the world.
1e Progression: How do you plan to mechanically develop the character (ie dips, multiclassing, PrCs, etc)? If you don't have a plan yet, that is ok.
The plan is to stick to straight up Paladin levels with the Virtuous Bravo archetype (aka swashbuckler). Not currently planning on any multiclassing or prestige classes.
1f Background: What is the characters backstory? Doesn't need to be a novel, but at least 1-3 paragraphs of an overview. (IE what is your history, what are you doing now and what are you trying to achieve in the future)
Growing up she realized that her beauty could be used to her advantage especially against people that were sexually attracted to her. She was always getting her way as a young lady and her parents saw that they too could use her to their advantage and arranged for her to go to Oparra and train as a courtesan in one of the more prestigious houses. Through this training and subsequent work she was able to gather enough influence for her parents that they were able to elevate their station as a result. She hopes to gather enough influence for herself to be able to join the Senate.
Part of her training and subsequent induction in the world of professional courtesans led her to the Church of Calistria where many of her fellow practitioners worshiped without judgement and were actually welcomed and celebrated. She is very obedient to the church and practices her obedience every night.
She has always had a bit of a feisty side to her and her courtesan instructor saw this in her too and recommended that at least learn to defend herself with a sword. She enjoyed this so much that she began her training as a bravo paladin dedicated to Calistria.

Alright, this is Ouachitonian's submission. What's that, a half-orc Ulfen Guard aspirant? Yes, he's from Averaka in the Ironbound Islands, the largest half-orc settlement in Avistan. But he has a name that suggests some sort of draconic bloodline? Well, yes, you see he's the black sheep of the family because he didn't inherit the gifts, and had to make his living with muscle an an axe. (Try not to bring this up around him, or he might use said axe on you.) Ok, maybe I'm reusing an alias. Shut up. I think it actually makes for a good story
At any rate, he's an Invulnerable Rager, who'll be taking the Superstition and Beast Totem lines of Rage Powers. I'll be looking at taking the Ulfen Guard prestige class when we get there. He's good at dealing damage, taking damage, and intimidating people. Oh, and especially when in a rage, he'll be a bit of a save-tank. I'll probably take a lot of the Deathless orc/half-orc feats and other stuff that makes me better at taking damage and dealing damage. Or Extra Rage Power. Is he great at diplomacy and subterfuge? Well, no. But he's good at being the scary dumb muscle for the more charismatic sorts. Every aspiring noble needs impressive retainers, and there's no more impressive retainer than a 6'4" half-orc viking with tusks, right?

Here is Merus Galla, a minor nobleman who is as well known for his artistic pursuits as he is for his combat ability.
Mechanically, a Human Warrior Poet Samurai of the Songbird Order.
The second son of the Galla family Merus is a little different from the norm, largely due to the influence of his mother Loreia. Loreia, a former dancer, is a devouted worshipper of Shelyn.
It was due largely to his mothers influence that Merus has always been devoted to the arts, devoted to Shelyn. His own pursuit of the Arts is found in his ability to make finely crafted weapons, in his mastery of the ancient art of Oratory, and in his ability to make combat itself almost into a dance, a thing of beauty.
Loreia convinced him that women are at the least the equals to men in everything that matters, that women should be allowed to hold ANY position that they are capable of, most definitely including that of monarch.
However, his father Cotta has also had his influence. Merus has been raised to be ready to take up the mantle of a noble should his elder brother Virian ever die. As a second son his likely destiny is to join the army and he has learned the way of the Warrior as well as the way of the artist.
His life here in Oparra has largely been uneventful until now. He has just come of age and is just preparing to make his own way in the world, to leave the family home.
Merus has come to realize that it may, perhaps, be possible to make a living in politics and not join the army. If that is possible he would prefer that for several reasons.
First, he is a bit of a young idealist and would like to make a difference. He certainly believes that Princess Eutropia would make a wonderful monarch and would like to do his little bit to make that come to pass.
Second he is enough of a mercenary to think that his future in politics may well be brighter than in the army. He knows that he is charming and an excellent speaker, attributes that may serve him well in politics.
And third, he LIKES Oparra itself and is loathe to leave it for the privations of a life in the army. He appreciates good living, the Arts, the Opera and all the rest that can be found here in town.
In combat, Marcus will be at the front lines trying to control the battlefield largely by tripping his enemies. His ability to dance through a combat should make him a major force, relatively hard to hit and stopping others from getting to the back line.
Out of combat Marcus will bring his social skills to the aid of the group. Although others will doubtless be the primary face of the group he will be able to hold his own on those occassions when more than one person needs to be dealt with. At the least, he will be a reliable form of aid to others.
My current plan is to advance as a Samurai for at least quite a few levels. He MAY dip into snakebite Brawler at some point to maximize the value of his feints.
I'm in Toronto (EST) and generally check the boards at least twice a day. Once when I get up (generally late morning), once in the late evening.
I'm fairly experienced in PBP, mostly as a player but also with a few games as GM. I'm currently in 6 games (only one of which is so active that I am making more than 1 post a day)
