GM Dak |

Welcome! Feel free to Dot in the Gameplay so that it gets added to your campaigns section. You can then delete the dot to keep the thread clean until we start up.
Please work on finalizing your character and setting up an alias. For the alias be sure to include relevant important character information in the Race section. This is a good example of relevant info:
HP 36/36 | AC 12 | T 12 | FF 10 | CMD 13 | Fort +3 | Ref +3 | Will +4 | Init +4 | Perc +11
Please make sure you include your background, motivations etc in your alias.
We will be getting started by the 13th, possibly the 12th if everyone is ready by then. Use this to discuss among yourselves and ask me any questions you may have.

Bimble Ficklebopper |
Hi everyone! Looking forward to gaming with you all. And thank you GM Dak for the epic challenge of running not one, not two, but three tables. I hope we will be able to make this one awesome! I tried to list what I think our party is because I'm excited:
Shalm - Marcus Beto - CN M Human (Ulfen) slayer (sniper, stygian slayer)
Tazo - Bimble Ficklebopper - NG M Gnome Transmuter Wizard
Silverstream - Rossana Thorn - NG F Aasimar Whimsy Oracle
Oniwaban - Celad Karthis - LG M Aasimar Paladin of Iomedae (Hospitaler)
John Gs - Sara Nole - 2 versions 1) NG F Human (Taldane) Bard (Wit) and 2) NG F Human (Taldane) Alchemist (Inspired Chemist, Royal Alchemist)
Profession Smith 6 ranks - Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme - N F Human Swashbuckler (Rondelero Swashbuckler)

Sara Nole |

Hello All! Thanks Dak. You are much braver (and patient) person than I will ever be.
So alchemist or bard? Anyone have a suggestion? Bard is what I'm leaning toward with our party composition. Oh, hello again Tazo!

Marcus Beto |

Hi all! Very excited about this, and the party looks like a fantastic group. Can't wait!
Also, apologies for the dot in the gameplay thread that I can't delete :/ try as I might, I couldn't get it to show up for me to actually delete. Now, of course, it's too late...

Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |

Hey all!
Thanks, Dak, for the invite!
Hello again to Tazo! I don't think I've played with anyone else in this game before, and am looking forward to making some new friends on the boards.

Sara Nole |

Tazo knows everyone! Just like a gnome :)
Good to meet you Capricia and Marcus.
I like the idea of a political reformer with the talent of insulting people... don't know if I'll do her justice but I'll try. Plus inspire courage is always nice. So if no one has an objection to bard (or if Dak didn't pick Sara specifically for the alchemist part) I'll go with that.
Now I'll clean up my profile.

Rossana Thorn |

Hello everyone and thanks for the invite! I'm excited to play with you all.
Rossana is pretty much ready to go. As put in the recruitment post, Rossana is a young minor noble with an undesired arranged marriage coming. Her aasimar traits are seen in her tail and ears, and she has lived a bit of a spoiled life so far. She is a prankster even on the battlefield, and I'm guessing our resident healer as well.
A few reference pictures for people to see: Traveling clothes
and more formal clothing.

Sara Nole |

Hi Rossana. Very happy to have you as our healer. Sara can help a little but won't be anywhere close.

Rossana Thorn |

As Rossana is not a Life Oracle, I may take Craft Wand and Signature Skill (Heal) later on to supplement the healing depending on how much it is needed. Will those be alright to use?

Sara Nole |

Ah, yeah the oracle that can channel. If possible early on we all can contribute for a wand of clw. Also the signature skill on heal is very nice, I've never looked at it before.

Rossana Thorn |

The Signature Skill for Heal and the Battlefield Surgeon Trait can save quite a lot of charges on wands and supplies.

Bimble Ficklebopper |
Welcome, Oniwaban! Hospitaler paladin sounds good to me.
Any thoughts about specific weapons or are you planning on using a variety? I think the tactics and build can change a little depending on whether you're going sword and board, two-handed weapon, reach weapon, or whatever comes your way.

Oniwaban |

As it stands, I've built him with a longsword and shield, but I haven't taken any focus feats yet.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Went ahead and kicked things off. Excited to get started :D.
As a side note, I know Thanksgiving is coming up and I'm aware that posting may be limited for some next week. If you can maintain 1/day posts great! If not, I understand and enjoy your holiday (if you celebrate it). Just be ready to jump back into 1/day posting after next week.

GM Dak |

So for some reason, it keeps bugging out when I try to edit the campaign to add the link for the maps. As such, I will add it here in the meantime.
We won't need it for awhile, but if you want to join the game there I can get portraits and access setup correctly. If you don't have an account, it is completely free to sign up. Let me know once you've joined and your name that you joined with I will add your character portrait and give you access to move them around.

Rossana Thorn |

Joined the maps as Silverstream.

Bimble Ficklebopper |
Joined the map, hopefully as Bimble.
For the introductions that are about to happen, is there any reason any of us would already know each other? I don't think anyone would know Bimble, unless they are readers of obscure historical satire? Bimble may be vaguely aware of Celad Karthis, since he's form a major house. I'm mainly floating this because some of you might know each other.

Rossana Thorn |

I do not believe Rossana would have any real connections with the others beforehand. Her connections were mainly other nobility, tutors, and the family's servants.

Marcus Beto |

Marcus is low-born but works as a chef of some renown in Oppara, so it's possible that anyone who has worked at or attended a dinner among the nobles has run into him (or his cooking). His craft keeps him from doing much else though (which he's trying to rectify), so he likely doesn't know anyone from anything else.

Sara Nole |

Sara's father is a famous baker that serves the rich and nobility in his shop. He is also famous for siring bastards, which Sara is. So it is possible you'd recognize the name.
Based on being in the same profession she'd probably heard of Marcus, though doubtful they would have met.

Bimble Ficklebopper |
For planning purposes, I'm putting down proposed tasks and inserting potential names where suggested in-game or by my own assessment. Some of you have diverse skills and can probably find more to do than what I suggested based on the following reasoning:
-Bimble is anywhere involving Sense Motive or Perception
-Capricia is the only linguist I see
-Celad may be forced to do the most menial duty
-Rossana is the mistress of disguise
-Rossana and Sara have the sweetest tongues
-Sara also has the sharpest tongue
-Sara and Marcus are device disablers
-Is nobody among us a thief?
By the way, what's an Influence check? Is that something like knowing an important fact about someone to sway them?
Aide (CMB or Escape Artist) - Celad
Discovery (Influence, Sense Motive or Perception) - Bimble, Rossana, Sara
Fraud (Sense Motive or coordinate with agent, Bluff, Linguistics) - Bimble, Rossana, Capricia
Politicking (Influence or Intimidate x2) - Sara, Rossana
Sabotage (Appraise or K. nobility, Disable Device) - Marcus, Sara
Spy (Stealth or Disguise, Perception or Sense Motive x3) - Bimble, Rossana
Theft (Sleight of Hand x3 or x5) - ??

Rossana Thorn |

Influence checks are found in the Player's Guide. It's a more complex social system than just rolling diplomacy checks over and over. This system is also used for social combat, which involves rounds in which you can take actions and is probably what the Gala will be.
I do not believe anyone is trained in SoH. It may end up as the player with the highest Dex, though it probably also carries the heaviest penalties for failure.

GM Dak |

Yes, so to clarify how this will work. Essentially, we will go into "initiative", then the evening plays out over a certain number of rounds. In addition to your tasks various events will also occur during the evening and it's up to you to decide how you approach things.
If you want you could all go together and work on one task, split up into groups and work on a few tasks at the same time or everyone go do their own thing. You can respond to events or completely ignore them if you choose.
One thing to keep in mind, certain NPCs, in order to actually have an effect on them, you will need to influence them. You can learn their strengths and weakness so that you know the best approach to take when trying to influence them. It may help to refresh yourselves on the details of social combat on page 14/15 of the players guide.
Also, remember my note in the Tasks description. What I listed were the most likely skills to be used. If you come up with other creative solutions you are more than welcome to attempt them.

Sara Nole |

These were the rules I was reading
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/intrigue/
Scroll or search down to "Jockeying for position and favor is natural part of human social dynamics"
Celad has a good diplomacy so if he doesn't want to be stuck as the aid he could work on influencing people or aiding another in doing so.

Rossana Thorn |

Those rules are the original from Ultimate Intrigue, while the ones in the Player's Guide are the simplified version of them. Same rules, but more options and details are presented there.

Marcus Beto |

If we decide to split up, how difficult will it be to find each other? I'm wondering if it makes sense to go our separate ways, but then come find help when needed. Otherwise, maybe groups of two who have a good balance of skills? Thoughts?

Rossana Thorn |

Groups of two might work. With seven tasks, we might finish three tasks in two to three rounds at a time if the dice are with us. Too many on one task will be too inefficient, though, since it's all time sensitive.

GM Dak |

Well you do have the badges that you can can use to telepathically communicate with Martella, however the way they function is somewhat limiting.
You will be able to find Lady Lotheed pretty easily for the most part during the night so you could take advantage of that to find one another. Otherwise, it will definitely be a crowded gathering between nobles, senators, aids, staff, guards, etc.

Rossana Thorn |

For initial tasks, how about:
Aide - Celad - Highest CMB/Escape Artist of group. Task is warned for taking longer, though.
Fraud - Bimble, Caprica - Best Sense Motive and Forgery pair.
Politicking - Rossana - Good Knowledge and Diplomacy for discovery and influencing.
Sabotage - Marcus, Sara - Nobility, Disable Device, and can blend with kitchen staff.
A rough draft of course. Opinions?

Bimble Ficklebopper |
I worry we don't have bluff for the Fraud task. Would it make sense to have Rossana join us, and then split off solo after?
Bimble can use Unseen Servant as a SLA. Might be our best bet on thievery. I can save it for later in case I get kicked out. Though Bmble would be so sad he's perpetuating stereotypes of mischievous gnomes if he gets caught. :P

Sara Nole |

Teaming up sounds good. I think failing a task would be worse than not getting to it. So if nothing else aid another would be great.
At first I was channeling Sara and about to say, the commoners are sent to the kitchen to blend!!! But came to my senses when I remember Marcus is a chef and Sara a baker so yep makes perfect sense. Maybe our profession skills can be an aid there. Plus the way it was described it sounds like our benifactor REALLY wants that one done.
I wonder how the ban on magic is going to be enforced. Hopefully it is only visible magic or obvious casting in front of people.

Rossana Thorn |

@Rossana could do that. While not trained in Bluff yet, she does have a +4 still, though Sara is much higher at a +9.
A vague plan for the stealing case might be to have one disguised or ranged thief take the three while as many as we can spare run interference in the room to distract other people, thereby aiding their rolls. Both SoH and Bluff were 2nd level skill choices for Rossana unfortunately.

Rossana Thorn |

Rossana's already got a nobleowoman's dress ready to go, and can make noble outfits for anyone for only 22 gp and 5 sp apiece. We might also want something to help with the thievery, too.

Sara Nole |

I was worried about wearing a noble outfit when you were not one. Maybe potions, especially a potion of vanish? To swipe an item or two? Isn't there a rule stating the courtier outfit was ineffective unless there was enough jewelry being worn wife it. Yep at least 50gp worth or you look like an out of place commoner. Not that Bimble or Sara will know this though.

Bimble Ficklebopper |
Would Bimble be able to get away with using Negative Reaction at the Gala? It's somatic only, so Bimble wouldn't have to intone any magic words. If so, he may spend 25g buying a scroll to learn it, in case we need to thwart someone else's attempts at persuasion.
Potion of vanish only lasts a round, so I don't think that cuts it. I think Bimble will also err on the side of not wearing a noble outfit unless there's evidence to suggest otherwise.
I'm traveling starting on Wednesday for 1.5 weeks in South America. I can probably still post, but please feel free to bot me as needed.
