Otavio |
Woo! To 10.000 and beyond! Will try and get Otavio's level-up done later today or tomorrow at the latest.
Rossana Thorn |
Awesome. We are finally free.

Sara Nole |
Is there anything people think we need? Bards are full of skill points so she doesn't have to be as focused. I was thinking Sara might need to concentrate on disable device, but I see Caspian has us very nicely covered in that!
Otherwise I think I'll just grab persuasive since it is fitting for her babbling-ness. But I am open to suggestions.
Bimble Ficklebopper |
Leveling:
Wizard 3
+7 HP
+1 Fort
+1 Ref
Feat: Flagbearer
Skills: K. Arcana x2, K. History x2, Sense Motive x2, Spellcraft x2
New spells known: Glitterdust, Spider Climb
@Sara--I admit I'm overwhelmed by the number of characters and skills across those characters! So not sure what to suggest. I see you have the Antagonize feat, so maybe points in Intimidate and start insulting people into a rage?
Sara Nole |
Thank you for the suggestion sir. Since we've been fighting things in walls, animated armor and things she couldn't talk to, Antagonize hasn't been an option. The halfling had gutted her down to 2 hit points before she could even mutter a hello. :)
But NOW! Yep, persuasion.
Sara Nole |
level 3 bard(wit)

spells added vanish and dancing lights

Solicitor |
HP +9
BAB +1
Will +1
Bonus Feat: Endurance
Feat: Drunken Brawler
Skills (9): Knowledge Local, Diplomacy, Sense Motive, Perception, Stealth, Bluff, Intimidate, Perform Oratory, Artristry Poetry
Favored Terrain: Urban

Benefit(s): When you drink a tankard of ale or strong alcohol, you take a –2 penalty on Reflex saving throws, but gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your character level, and gain a +2 alchemical bonus on Fortitude and Will saving throws. These bonuses last 1 hour or until the temporary hit points gained by this effect are lost, whichever occurs first. Regardless, the penalty lasts for a full hour.
I ain't got a drinking problem, you see, that is, unless I'm outta drinks.
Caspian Lotheed |
Just a little reference for Caspian.
He's modelled (as are all Empiricists I think) after Sherlock Holmes - with the social skills (or lack thereof) of the Benedict Cumberbatch version, although he knows when and how to be polite as need be.
His elder brother Bartelby is, IMO at least, Mycroft Holmes at his worst. Clever but extremely lazy and unwilling to do anything about anything unless it makes him comfortable. (Think Mark Gatiss without any redeeming features).
Martella is probably Joan Watson (Lucy Liu in Elementary) rather than Martin Freedman's John Watson. Very capable in her own right but better behind the scenes than out in front.
Dak will correct me if I'm wrong I hope, but there you go - the Lotheeds/Holmes's all laid out for you. The family dynamics are more or less what you'd expect given that set up.
Rossana Thorn |
And that, my dear Caspian, is how you set expectations.
Sara Nole |
Just tell us that each and every failure is cleverly orchestrated to put us at ease. Showing too much awesome would make us feel bad... wait don't do that. Horrible idea.
Bimble Ficklebopper |
We probably should sell the many valuable possessions we have and gear up. With Zubari departing, we need an actual healing wand. If Otavio wants to return the gear now, he certainly can, though I'd say you get a whole week to borrow it.
@GM Dak--could we have some Pathfinders identify our unidentified items? We've already identified them for our loot sheet, and it'll make the loot management a lot easier when we talk about selling and equipping the party.
@Caspian--Looking forward to getting to know you! I will have more in-character chatting with you soon, but I felt like something needed to be said about Marcus, and Bimble would want to talk with Lady Morilla first.
Rossana Thorn |
We have 259 undivided gold worth of cash, 675 worth of valuables to sell, and some looted gear to sell as well, the biggest of which is the 1100 mithral chain shirts from the halflings.
@Bimble: Actually, we might not be able to return the borrow items, at least not yet. The Senate Building will probably be on shut-down for a while.
Loot Time:
Cash: 259 gp
Valuables: Brandy 75
Rubies 100
Cultural Trophies 500
Gear: masterwork thieves' tools (x3) 150
dagger (x3) 1.5
dagger, small (x3) 1.5
halberd 10
longsword (x2) 15
mithral chain shirt, small (x3) 1650
masterwork rapier, small (x3) 480
+1 heavy steel shield 550 (I believe no one plans on using a heavy shield, so I added it to the list)
Total Cash After All Sold: 3792 gp
Useful Gear Sitting Unused:
+1 Cloak of Resistance
+1 ring of Protection
unidentified (super?) crossbow
Rossana will take the crossbow for now, as she seems to be the last ranged user unless someone else wants to take it up. We have the very useful cloak and ring that would have helped in the last fight, so if someone would like to take them now?
As far as shopping goes, a CLW wand would be wonderful. Can't think of much else.
Sara Nole |
We can add Sara's normal rapier to the list. She got a masterwork one from one of the first rooms. I thought Otavio had said he ran and returned the bits before we went up the stairs?
I think he would be good for the ring of protection. And Rossana for the cloak? Frontliner gets more ac and our healer more protected from foul magic. Just suggestions though.
CLW wand I completely agree with. Sara doesn't have any buying needs at the moment, other than new clothes, which if Dak allows her last post she can trade her fancy dress for simple ones.
Bimble Ficklebopper |
Bimble should probably buy ink to learn all the spells that are in his possession.
We should sell the Sustaining Spoon and two Dusts of Illusions. If nobody claims some of the other random things on the loot table, they should be sold. The Silver Raven Figurine for example would be fun, but given that it's been sitting unused, maybe better to sell for the price of two Cloaks of Resistance.

Sara Nole |
The level 3 bard(wit) get the ability to hurt people with her words!
Bardic Performance: Cutting Remark (1d4+3 nonlethal): At 3rd level, a wit can wound with his words. The wit can spend 1
round of bardic performance as a standard action to deal 1d4
points of nonlethal damage + the wit’s bard level to a creature
within 30 feet. Damage reduction applies to this damage.
At 8th level, a target who takes damage from cutting remark is also
sickened for as long as it remains within 30 feet of the wit and for
1 round thereafter. Additionally, the nonlethal damage counts as
magic for purposes such as overcoming damage reduction.
At 14th level, a target who takes damage from cutting remark must
also succeed at a Will save (DC = 10 + 1/2 the wit’s bard level +
his Charisma modifier) or be dazed for 1 round. A creature that
makes a successful save is immune to the dazing effect of the wit’s
cutting remark for 24 hours.
Cutting remark is a mind-affecting, language-dependent effect, and
relies on audible components.
Sara Nole |
If Otavio gave up the battleaxe, he can have the handaxe+1 back from Sara since she is not proficient in it and only had it in case we ran into ghosts.
Or we can sell it along with the dusts if he doesn't want it.
Otavio |
Otavio can flex into whatever weapon(s) are available. From a fluff POV, he prefers a longsword+buckler, but crunchwise he'd be better off with a greatsword :)
Otavio |
Otavio will definitely return them. Sorry, will sit down and catch up tomorrow. Had a silly long weekend!
Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |
When I updated Capricia for 3rd level, I removed the amulet of natural armor +1, assuming it would go to Otavio once he returned the borrowed armor to the inevitable.
She'll want one of those things eventually, though.
Otavio |
Done. The site must've eaten my update without me noticing it -_-
Otavio will slip back into his old scalemail. This puts him at 20 AC with combat expertise on, so really Capricia, feel free to keep the Amulet of NA +1.

Let's add Dust of Illusion x2 and Sustaining Spoon to the sell list. That's an additional 3900 gp
Total cash: 7,692.
deduct CLW Wand = 750 gp
Remaining cash: 6942
Need to adjust if Otavio keeps the heavy shield +1, but at a minimum, that's enough for some masterwork weapons and gear. Otavio can afford a Mwk Breastplate and Mwk Greatsword, for example.
Caspian Lotheed |
Going tank might be a better idea - Caspian and Capricia should hit pretty hard, but we don't have someone who can take hits so that might be worthwhile?
Otavio |
The heavy shield is better from a crunch POV, but what with this being a heavy social campaign, I just got a hard time envisioning Otavio lugging about a big ass heavy shield wherever he goes. Hence the buckler and basket-hilt backsword he started out with.
A two-hander would give a bigger damage die and up his STR bonus to damage from 3 to 4. But with Bimble's flagbearer feat and Sara's Inspire Courage, I'm not sure if it's really needed for Otavio to pick up more damage.
Sure, I could pick up a falchion, but it won't be till level 5 that Otavio gets access to Power Attack so yeah, I'm not entirely sure what to do. And since I don't know what to do, I'll stick to the buckler and shield for now. A mw breastplate, buckler and longsword would rock (he is skilled in stealth!), but the mw armor and shield would be pure luxury.
How I envision a sword+buckler combo.
edit - and as long as you regularly pour him a drink, Otavio can be like a mini-barbarian what with his temporary hitpoints.
editedit - Otavio can use the Cloak of Resistance to bolster his Will save, but I much prefer it to go to a character with a low Fort save :)
Caspian Lotheed |
edit - and as long as you regularly pour him a drink, Otavio can be like a mini-barbarian what with his temporary hitpoints.
I have alchemy - we can arrange something for drinks! :)
Otavio |
Nice! Next level, Otavio gets two lvl 1 and four lvl 0 spells from the bardic spell list (yes, really!) so this character really is unlike any I've ever played before. It's hard to keep track of everything *and* stay true to the fluff and flavor of it all.
Rossana Thorn |
So we'll sell the above with the shield, grab Otavio some mwk equipment and a clw wand. Anything left before we finalize?
Before: 6942
Mwk Equipment: 820
Left: 6122 gp
Sara Nole |
Capricia's weapon is not masterwork, at least I don't think it is, so we should add that in as well.

Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |
A masterwork buckler would work just as well as a masterwork falcata for Capricia (and would be cheaper!), as it would remove the pesky -1 penalty using it in combination with Weapon Finesse gives her attacks.
Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |
If other folks don't mind Capricia being a treasure hog, I'll get the mwk falcata now as well. Once she gets that, she should pretty much be set for a while equipment-wise.
Otavio |
Treasure hog? Capricia getting a +2 to hit a meager amount of gold is definitely worth said meager amount of gold!
Rossana Thorn |
So that's another 1493 total, leaving us at:
4629 GP
Alright. I believe that is all, then.
Otavio |
So, the Ring of Protection +1 and the Cloak of Resistance +1. Do we have any takers? Because if not, Otavio will happily claim both ;-)
