Argus Coal-Heart |
@Shaeri: I think the crusaders are on our side. Mostly being useless, but on our side nonetheless. :D
@GM: Is there a roll required to get over the barricade, or is it just difficult terrain?
GM Aerondor |
The crusaders are the ones who were calling out to you for help. That doesn't mean you can't attack them if you wanted to...
Gromther |
Not one to shirk a good fight, Gromther scales the barrier and pursues the creature.
I did a double move with difficult terrain for the barrier. Feel free to adjust my movement as needed if it harder to scale it.
GM Aerondor |
Shari dashes forward, as does Gromther.

Kinosis moves forward over the barricade, keeping pace with the dwarf. As she rounds the corner she says "Keep a watchful eye. I've heard demons can be quite intelligent. This may be leading to an ambush."
Seeing her moment she strikes out with her glaive at the demon.
Attack(glaive): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Argus Coal-Heart |
Argus hurries forward, clambering over the barricade to join the others.
I didn't see a response, so I double moved and just assumed the barricade was only difficult terrain.
Xusius |
Xusius will double move to where he is and climb over the barrier as well.
GM Aerondor |
Delaying Lybram, he may act twice
Kinosis lashes out with her Glaive, scoring a deep wound... that mostly closes almost straight away.
DR
The other pathfinders hurry forward and many cross the barricade. It is then that the 'crusaders' reveal their own foul plan!
The demon strikes back at Kinosis with tooth and claw, badly wounding the brave barbarian. The crusaders meanwhile turn on the team that passes them cutting into their 'rescuers'. Blood spurts from Argus and Sherie!

Lybram will double move to the barrier and then with his second round action he will scale the barrier and move to get into shooting position.
"Has anyone hurt the thing yet? Does it seem resistant to injuries?"
Argus Coal-Heart |
With a near-bestial snarl of pain, Argus steps back and swings at the traitorous "crusader" who struck him.
Sneaky buggers! 5ft step and attack.

Wow! I missed the last line of the GM's post. The Crusaders turn on us? I double moved past them. Did they attack with AoO? That probably would have stopped Lybram and made him help the rear folks. Can I adjust my actions?
Xusius |
Xusius takes a five foot step away from the turncoat, pulls out a flask of acid and says, "Zou treacherous human! Zou have zold zour zoul to ze demons. Let me hurry zour payment to zem!"
Xusius casts Acid Splash at the traitor.
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM Aerondor |
@Lybram, Just take a two rounds of actions from after they attack, that is fine. If you moved past them once they had shown their true colours they certainly attack you. I'll give you the option of retconning that move if you wish.
@all - I don't tend to provide the attack bonus or saving throw bonuses for monster in my dice tags - as that gives away more information - for example that one person is quite a bit more skillful than another. You get to see the dice roll, and from that can work out their degree of skill. Trust me, they all hit.
Gromther punches the demon, but again, most of the impact seems to be mitigated by the demons...demonic nature.
Argus turns on the crusader, but the barricade gets in the way and the man deflects his blow.
missed due to bonus from cover
Xesius sends a jet of acid at the closest crusader, who ducks out of the way. Sherie's ray of frost suffers the same sorry fate.

Kinosis lets our a yelp of pain. She quickly withdraws from the demons range and grabs a potion out of her pack. In one fell swoop she gulps it down and then rushes over to assist with the false Crusaders.
Potion of Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Green will get an AoO
GM Aerondor |
@Kinosis, you can 5' step back, draw a potion and drink it. Or you could do a withdraw action from the demon (which is a full round action) but not draw or drink the potion. But you can't move move (apart from a 5' step) and draw and drink the potion all in the same round.
Lybram Tendras |
Starting at the beginning of my first action, I am assuming I delayed until just after the crusaders attack. I will move myself back to my original position (as well as I can remember). I will then use the 2 turns you mention above.
1st turn: Lybram will move up to just behind Shaeri, Seeing the wounds produced by the wicked crusader, he calls on the power of Erastil, willing waves of positive karma to flow forth. channel positive energy: 1d6 ⇒ 3 I believe it would have gotten the paladin at the time. Or Kinosis if she had moved back before also.
2nd turn: Lybram then seeing shaeri pull back, takes a quick shot at the fiendish crusader. bow shot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 8
"Traitors! The crusaders are Traitors!"
Thanks for letting me fix my mistake. I believe I am out of actions now.
GM Aerondor |
Too keep things moving, I'll have Kinosis step back 5' and drink the potion. That max healing roll is too good to pass up.
@Sherie I'll have it take effect and getting the paladin. I play rather loose and fast with initiative in PBP to keep things moving, so when you channel, just use whoever is in range when you put the post in. If you want to delay for a specific situation (like having asked everyone to get close) then just be clear about that and I'll try to adjudicate based on your intent.
The potion is a good one and Kinosis is quickly restored to fighting trim.
The demon ignores her for the moment, concentrating on the monk who had the audacity to actually punch it. Argus is well aware of the demon and easily avoids its talons.
The two crusaders try to put down the party spellcasters. One scores a nasty cut against Xusius - knocking him to the ground.

Actually, Xusius' AC is 17 because he activated cast Mage Armor upon himself with his wand earlier in the combat. I should have changed it to reflect that in the name lines. I will do so now.

@Xusius: Unfortunately, it still hit. I'm going to have Shaeri withdraw from the crusader for her action, as we are on a timer here.

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
Strong victories have been achieved in the Battle district, and Egelsee appears to be doing well with only sporadic attacks on them. The Woundward and Confluence districts still have sustained demonic attacks in progress, and the Outer district is struggling to remain controlled.
The enemy is attempting to reinforce their positions and begin pushing the Pathfinders back...
