This is my recruitment thread for a run of SFS Scenario 1-01, The Commencement.
Game Expectations
I ask for a posting rate of 1-2 times per day during the business week and at least once over the weekend, though I realize (and expect) that real life can get in the way of fun at times and that not all players will be able to meet that pace. I also expect folks to occassionally be unavailable for a period of time. If I know that I will be unavailable for some reason for more than 24 hours (or 48 over a weekend), I will post such. I request and expect all players to do the same. For instance, I will anticipate that I will not be available to post much of the week of Thanksgiving in the US (November 19-26).
I will bot players who do not post anything within a 24 hour period (or over a weekend) and will request each player have botting instructions in place before the end of the first briefing.
This scenario has a tendency to run a little longer than most, so I expect (even if we keep up the expected post rate) that we will not conclude prior to the end of November.
Assuming we have the minimum number of players by then, I plan to start on October 19th with preliminaries and get into the first mission sometime October 22nd.
Play-Style
Although there will be opportunities for role-play, expect things to move quickly. I will likely use GM rolls for Initiative, Perception, and a number of other checks. Expect players rolls to primarily be limited to combat.
If you wish to play, go ahead and post here with your responses to the following:
SFS:
1) Player name:
2) Character name:
3) SFS#-Character#:
4) Faction:
5) Day Job (if any):
6) Have you played/GM'd this scenario before?

Srurdez leans back and places his sharp claws behind his head. "Well, hope you are ready to party."
I believe everything about my character is in order... I still have to add the claws in just in case, but otherwise is ready for play.

Greetings. If you still have room, I would like to play.
1) Player name: philipjcormier
2) Character name: Tolmu
3) SFS#-Character#: 55792-701
4) Faction: Wayfinders
5) Day Job (if any): profession(counselor): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
6) Have you played/GM'd this scenario before? yes. I have played once before.
Tolmu is a human Mystic spacefarer. I also have an android soldier(starknight) if needed. I haven't added him to my list of characters yet, but he is created on HeroLab already, I just need to transfer him.

GM Valen |

Greetings, Vorag! You are in.
That is five spots. I previously reserved a sixth for Mustachio, if he wants it. I'll PM him.
If he claims the spot, we have our sixth and a full table.
If he doesn't claim it before Friday, 10/19, then I will take up to one more PC. Otherwise, we'll go with five the 19th.

I keep meaning to ask...the "core" races from the PFS Core Rulebook are listed as optional races, does that need you need a boon to use one of them(ie.: Dwarf, Elf, ect.)?
Also, I have an android soldier(Mystic Knight) build on HeroLab online if it would be better for the group for me to run him. I just haven't transfered him over to SFS as of yet.

Yes, you need a boon to play the "fantasy core" races.
I don't find group composition matters as much in Starfinder, especially at first level. Srurdez is built more towards filling that Soldier role anyway, and less towards party support.
In short - you should play whichever character you prefer. Mystic fits right in though.

Many thanks for the quick and helpful responses. I will stick with Tolmu.
I was looking to make the Mystic Knight Soldier with an Elf or a half-elf. I have two 1L characters already, I think I will put off listing the android soldier for now.
I find it odd that the saves are Fort and Will for the soldier though, I would think it would be Fort and Dex like PFS fighters are.

PF1 fighters have Bravery (at least, unless you achetype it away) to represent the stoic nature of the melee combatant. I imagine Soldiers in SF probably go through more Will-related training due to the prevelance of psy-ops types of combat.

I am very sorry to do this, everyone. Life just increased its challenge level and I am concerned that, like today, I won't be able to keep up with a new game. I was really looking forward to initiating this character but feel it would be best if I withdraw. :-(
This was a really difficult decision but in the end, I think it is the responsible thing to do.
