“Gentle beings,” continues the holo-announcer. “Start your engines!”
A cacophony of engine sounds rises in response, accompanied by the hum of thrusters and antigrav generators kicking in and bringing the racers to life.
Laboni glances your direction with a nervous smile.
The lights at the starting line flicker, marking the countdown and then the scream of a buzzer marks the beginning of the race!
Almost immediately, the various racers begin to train their weapons on their opponents.
Ratrod and Nyizin each fire on Orsis' racer. Only the ysoki racing champion hits.
Orsis fires both weapons at Laboni, striking her racer with a powerful projectile. Apparently, the dice generator thinks that you REALLY should have tried to make friends with Orsis.
Laboni's racer is at -6 Piloting this round.
Please go ahead and take your shots for Laboni and Velocity's racers as well as Piloting checks for each.
Yes, the modifiers from the racer are to be added to your rolls. Thus, Dameons' result is a 9 (adding +2 for Piloting from racer) and Tolmu's result is a 0 (adding -3 for attack from racer).
The shots from the two weapon's on Laboni's racer fail to make their mark.
With the vehicle reeling from the shot from Orsis' vehicle and some getting used to the remote, Laboni's racer veers into a pile of junk along the side of the track. The accompanying screeching of metal seem at first to be interminable, but eventually the racer breaks away and moves forward, albeit at a slower speed.

With his racer impacted, Ratrod has a rough start, his racer careens into a nearby pile of junk. He crashes through a collection of discarded appliances, but has obviously been slowed. 275 ft
Orsis, too, has trouble maintaining control as he is fired upon. Still, he manages to creep ahead. 250 ft
Convinced by the vesk Starfinder that overclocking her machine was the key to victory, Lemgem revs her engine and jets forward. Her spherical racer is nearly consumed in the resulting ball of flame caused by the explosion of her vehicle’s engine. It is clear as the flames lick higher that the gnome is out of the race entirely. 0 ft.
Still waiting on Velocity's Piloting roll.
Having avoided being anyone’s target this round, Nyizin readily flies ahead of the others and it is the ryphorian that takes the lead.

Incensed by the trash-talking by the vesk before the race, Ratrod's shooting is a bit erratic, but he still manages to hit Laboni.

From her position in the leader, Nyizin fires on the ysoki champion, hitting him with a rocket shell.
Orsis turns his weapons on the leader, Nyizin, hitting her racer with an energy blast.

Velocity takes aim and fires off the kinetic gun.
Preferably at Nyizin or Orsis, in that order, but Ratrod might be in the way. If that is the case then firing at Ratrod. Kinetic:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
The lashunta fails to strike his competitor, but receives two solid shots from his opponents and his racer begins to wobble as it slides through a turn.
Seeing an opportunity, Nyizin moves to switch her racer into high gear.

eek, I was sure I'd posted earlier, but evidently I either only previewed or the gremlins ate my post.
Having gotten her frustrations with Ratrod for helping create this situation out of her system, Hagitha takes the time to be strategic. She shoots at Nyzin.
Though the energy beam goes awry, the projectile filed from Laboni's racer strikes Nyizin's vehicle as the shot fired by Velocity strikes the racer of Orsis.
GM Rolls:
Accidently listed dice roll of Ratrod's prior shot as against Nyizin, although the descriptive text makes it clear that the leader, Orsis, was the intended target. Each of the other expert racers are able to make some ground, but none are able to coax the full speed from their vehicles.

Daemon continues piloting the pod racer, braking around the bends this time just a nudge to make sure he makes those turns and doesn't lose momentum by crashing or spinning out of control.pilot:2 + 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + 2 + (20) = 24
Laboni's racer flies forward at full speed!, catching up with Orsis--putting her neck and neck for the lead! 300 ft.
The crowd goes crazy, many taking to their feet. Over the roar of the racer's engines, you can hear large portions of the crowd beginning to chant, "Laboni! Laboni!"
Once again out in front, Nyizin and Orsis once again exchange weapons fire.
Ratrod makes a gleefully, crude gesture at Laboni as he flies by, clearly feeling more confident and focused with having passed the woman who had trash-talked him. He fires what he expects to be a parting shot at the human as he passes.
The shot on Ratrod, causes him to lose speed, as he corrects the position of his racer. 275 ft.
The two shots from Orsis also slowed down Nyizin. 250 ft.
The race leader, Orsis was so focused on putting shots on his competitor, that he failed to avoid some rusting crates, slowing him down as well. 250 ft.
These momentary lapses by the other racers provide huge opportunities for skilled racers to exploit and both Velocity and Laboni do so
Velocity's racer zooms forward, placing her in the lead 500 ft.
Laboni's follows, passing Ratrod--as she does so, she gives the ysoki a squinted, smile and gentle wave. 600 ft.
"Keep shooting the rat!" Srurdez calls out with a hearty laugh as he watches Ratrod struggle in last place. He also calls out obstacles ahead of Laboni's racer to assist Daemon's piloting.
"They're nearly rounding into the homestretch, folks!" the holo-announcer shouts as the racers begin to come out of the final turns. "It looks like its going to be a tail-biter!"
Round Eight Begins!
Nyizin reaches down to again place her racer into high gear for some extra power.
Now, intensely upset, Ratrod trains his gun on Laboni, while the other racers all start gunning for the leader, Velocity!
