A plan in place, the paladins walk to the edge of the platform and draw their weapons. Draghis begins to intone encouraging words, using her evangelist training to carry her voice only as far as the paladins she follows, recalling to them the righteousness of their cause. Each hero giving a quick nod, four of the five drop as one to the level below. Sariel remains above to rain down justice as needed.

Draghis' performance is for inspire competence +2, which applies to skill checks, because...

Rules for falling:
Creatures that fall take 1d6 points of damage per 10 feet fallen, to a maximum of 20d6. Creatures that take lethal damage from a fall land in a prone position.

If a character deliberately jumps instead of merely slipping or falling, the damage is the same but the first 1d6 is nonlethal damage. A DC 15 Acrobatics check allows the character to avoid any damage from the first 10 feet fallen and converts any damage from the second 10 feet to nonlethal damage. Thus, a character who slips from a ledge 30 feet up takes 3d6 damage. If the same character deliberately jumps, he takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage and 2d6 points of lethal damage. And if the character leaps down with a successful Acrobatics check, he takes only 1d6 points of nonlethal damage and 1d6 points of lethal damage from the plunge.

So, a DC 15 acrobatics check negates damage from the first 10 feet and converts the second 10 feet to nonlethal damage, which means we could potentially all land on our feet. But it will be way funnier if three of us land on our feet and one of us lands prone. Just saying.

The crunch of metal and hard leather on the stone floor gives the demons pause, but Davok gives them no opportunity to gather their wits before he calls out a simple order: "Go."

Kaeldron jumped...in full plate armor. The speed at which he fell surprised him, and he landed on his shield with a loud clang. Without any grace or poise he got to his feet, his shoulder screaming in pain.

But you're right that I forgot to factor in ACP. Mithral armor + one magic enhancement point reduces full plate's ACP to -2, so Davok is still good. Maybe Kaeldron will be the comic relief for this superhero landing?

GM, can I use an immediate action of Windy Escape to ignore the fall damage and prone? It fits the spell description, but isn’t RAW

I'll meet you half way, you can take the damage but ignore the prone part

What would have been a disastrous fall was made salvageable by his shield. Just at impact the Paladin became temporarily ethereal, which allowed him to move all the quicker. It still wasn’t graceful, but by the grace of a kind god, Kaeldron was able to get into the fight.

This wide chamber connects with two small vaults to the east and west. All three chambers hold a variety of weapons and gear of varying quality, but many weapon racks lie empty, as well.

Although they're not of great value to the PCs, who certainly have better gear, when taken as a whole, the armor and weapons stored here are worth 10 units of Goods

A small dais of steps descends into this oddly shaped chamber, while more stairs lead to the northwest and southeast. Lit candles surround the circle of arcane purpose scribed on the floor. Overhead, the ceiling rises nearly forty feet. A large crystal hangs overhead from a heavy chain, pulsing in the reflected light.

The western wall in the northern side chamber features what appears to be a large archway, yet the inside ofthe arch is filled with solid stone.

A tiefling woman in an emerald green dress leads a mixed group of demons and cultists in some dark ritual... amongst them you spot the hunchbacked tiefling who fled the bridge with the aurochs.

And until the battle was won, he wasn’t willing to let down his guard.


A five-foot ledge runs the length of this circular pit. A second elevated ledge stands above the ledge with a short series of steps rising to a small platform ahead of it. To the southeast, a giant statue of a six-armed woman with a serpentine body rises out of the pit. It looms over each ledge with outstretched arms bearing an intimidating array of exotic weapons.

As you move through the room the wall facing the pit pulses with mauve energy as a telekinetic pulse attempts to hurl the Kaeldron into the pit.

Dropping into a defensive stance Kaeldron weathers the unexpected assault and remains upright.
