Sorry, I missed that we had actually left Drezen.
As the party (minus Davok, who remained behind) returns through the gates of the citadel, Draghis suddenly stops and murmurs, "Oh no. Not her."
The others can hear a rumbling in the distance. As the sound gets closer, the rumbling sound coalesces into pounding footsteps. Looking in the direction of the footsteps, one can see Davok riding atop a lumbering rhinocerous. Soldiers and paladins stop what they are doing to stare as the half-orc rides impassively on his new mount to join the others. In his hands, he holds a gleaming lance.
It doesn't seem as if the lumbering rhino will be able to stop in time with the weight she carries on her back and in her burnished mithral barding, in addition to her already considerable weight. Somehow she manages to stop before colliding with the other heroes as she grunts and snorts in exertion.
"This is Lomasi," Davok supplies. He glances briefly at Alistair.
Lomasi trumpets, the noise loud and grating. Those around her can detect the odor of rotting vegetation on her breath. The gray rhino is adorned with a gold ring in each ear and in her nose. Her mithral barding is partial obscured by a caparison across her broad back and numerous tassels that hang in various places.
Alistair the Fierce & Terrible |
" 'Sup?" Alistair says, nodding his head at the big rhino.
Kaeldron |
”That is...quite the steed. Not exactly how I always envisioned a knight in shining armor, but somehow it seems as if though this will be much more effective. Where did you find this, eh...steed?”
Claire Calloway |
"Hi, Lomasi!" Claire exclaims, smiling brightly. "Pleasure to meet you!" She circles the rhino, then looks up at Davok. "Gosh, she's big! I love her cute little tassels! Did you put those on yourself?"
Davok Scarred-Sight |
"Hi, Lomasi!" Claire exclaims, smiling brightly. "Pleasure to meet you!"
Lomasi trumpets, the noise loud and grating. Those around her can detect the odor of rotting vegetation on her breath.
Davok Scarred-Sight |
Answering the questions about her, Davok replies, "Lomasi served for years as my mother's companion, as she and my father traversed Sarkoris. She is loyal and brave. A true warrior and stalwart ally."
Davok Scarred-Sight |
Lomasi trumpets, the noise loud and grating. Those around her can detect the odor of rotting vegetation on her breath.
Draghis sighs.
Fredric Fulk |
Fredric nods in approval.
"Welcome, Lomasi. May you aid us well in crushing our foes underfoot."

Gather Info: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Sometimes being a hero of the crusade had its perks, and gathering the potions needed to fight a dragon was one of them. As they went out shopping, Kaeldron asked around for any information about the dragon, for it was folly to charge blindly into battle when not required.

diplomacy to aid: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Sariel visits with the wounded crusaders, regaling them with stories of their assault on the fortress and the vile demons within, and most especially their triumphant reclamation of the Sword of Valor! He also asks about dragons.
Fredric Fulk |
Fredric makes a few brusque enquiries of his own about the reptilian foe.

I meant to do this during the downtime, but...
While the other shop for necessary supplies, Davok and Draghis check on the crazy man they found when clearing the citadel.

Davok finds the man is still being aggressive but it will likely be a few more days before any enchantment spell would lapse... perhaps after their return from the next expedition.
You all uncover a few people saying that they've heard of sightings to the west at various sights. One of the former prisoners however has more details. "I saw it before, attacked the group I was with. I've heard of dragons being different colours but never one that had purple scales... but worse than that it had no eyes and was covered in spikes. Tainted like the land no doubt. It was able to breath acid and melt people, I only survived because it overlooked me!"
This creature sounds like a Woundwyrm. Woundwyrms are ferocious predators native to the corrupted landscape of the Worldwound. They are equally at home in sea and sky, above the ground and below it. Oozing deliquescence seeps from between their cracked, rocky scales, and a constant fume of rainbow hues drifts out of their gullets, save when they inhale and ingest the very substance of disintegrating reality. Only weapons blessed with holy energy or imbued with divine order can bypass their supernatural resilience. IE good or lawful weapons to bypass their DR... hard to say in a characterful way.
Kaeldron |
How many potions of fly can we round up? ”Right then. We will need to track this creature down. From the sound of it, no good will come from leaving it alive.”
Sariel Daore |
"Blimey, a blind dragon what breaves acid!"
Sariel makes sure to stock up on a good supply of arrows.
Kaeldron |
True. But we can know ooc at least
GM Kevin O'Rourke |
Ok the map is giving me guff again... as ye explore west something happens in Hex 0104
The corruption of the land seems endless as you explore... but Davok feels a sense that something truly perverse and vile has occurred, some great wrong. A simmering anger fills him as he moves through the land but does feel a tug to the south.
Davok Scarred-Sight |
Davok pulls abruptly on his new mounts' reins, bringing her to a halt. Lomasi trumpets, the noise loud and grating. Those around her can detect the odor of rotting vegetation on her breath.
"My friends, the spirits of my ancestors' land are calling to me. An evil needs to be rectified, although they have not revealed the nature of this threat. They are calling me from that direction." He points to the south.
"Please, let's investigate."
Kaeldron |
”Eloquently stated. As always, you have my blade.” Kaeldron said. ”Whatever calls to you, we shall find it.”
Fredric Fulk |
"As you do mine, Davok. Lead the way."
GM Kevin O'Rourke |
Davok leads the group to a cave...
As soon as he enters the cave, these feelings grow even more powerful, granting him a +2 sacred bonus on all attack and weapon damage rolls and to his spell save DCs while he's fighting against the cultists who have corrupted the site. The urge to drive off the cultists and restore the fane is difficult to ignore, and once the PC feels these sensations, he is sickened if he spends more than 24 hours doing something other than working to restore the fane.
A short flight of stairs flanked by two statues leads up to a thirty-foot-wide opening in the northern cave wall, beyond which the worked stone of a large chamber lit by flickering red torches looms. The ceiling rises a further thirty feet. The room is dominated by a floor-to-ceiling statue of a goat-headed demonic figure seated in a lotus position on a seven-foot-high stone platform, also flanked by statues, against the northern wall.
The looming statue depicts the demon lord Baphomet... beneath it six knights wearing tabards with his symbol perform some kind of religious observance.

CHARGE! FULL ATTACK! Burst Through to get past Red and Green. If one blocks him, Fredric's charge attack still resolves against them.
When you charge, you can move through allies and opponents almost as if they were not there to obstruct your path. You can move through squares containing allies freely, but you must succeed at an overrun combat maneuver check for each opponent that obstructs your path to the target of your charge. If the result of the check exceeds the opponent's CMD, you may move through the opponent's square and continue toward the target without provoking an attack of opportunity from that opponent. If you fail any of these combat maneuver checks, your movement ends in the square before that opponent, but you may resolve the charge attack against the foe that stopped you.
