Risen from the Sands Play by Post Build Rules


  • Starting at LVL 3
  • 2 Traits, no drawbacks
  • 3,000 gp (do not spend all your money on one big item, please spread it out)
  • All Races 16 or lower RP, no androids.
  • All classes are allowed except for 3rd party or Vigilante.
  • No Evil alignments
  • 20 point buy for stats
  • We are using Unchained Background Skills, just because we can.
  • Familiars are allowed, but not allowed to fight.
  • Like real tables, sometimes players can't make it and I have to NPC them. I will have a 3 day rule. If we are waiting for you to post and it has been 3 days, I will NPC your character to keep the game moving. If you don't post for a week and you don't explain to the table why, we will assume you are no longer interested in playing.

I have an idea of a ifrit Shaman. I think it would fit the desert theme. I am willing to do something else too.


How much should we look up regarding the module before we make a character?


There is nothing to look up. I don't need back stories, this is just a short module. Just make a character you're happy to play. Knowledges of all sorts can get you info, that's about all I can suggest.


I assume its known that we will be going into a pyramid in the Osiron desert. Right? That is info on the store page for the module.

Should we wait till the table is full before talking about classes?


Yeah that pretty much sums it up. You can discuss now, 3 of you have been invited so far. Only plan to seat 4 per table.


After thinking about it. I think I would want to make one of these (in order of what sounds best to me)

Bard (Archaeologist)
Investigator
Cleric of some kind

Anyone have preferences? The Bard and the Cleric will have some healing, for sure.


I'd be interested in doing a spiritualist(ectoplasmatist) Samsaran.
Also possible that I'd do a sorcerer of some sort.

I'm always a fan of having a bard or cleric in the party.

Would Samsaran be allowed as a race? It doesn't have an RP value assigned that I can see.

I'm currently trying to decide between a Crypt Breaker Alchemist or an Elemental Shifter; leaning towards the Shifter as I've never played one before.

Hey Deadly Secret, just a random question. I was looking at Master of Many Styles and Sohei monk archetypes. I was hoping to use both of them. I know that two archetypes that take the place of the same class ability can't be used at the same time. These two meet those requirements with one potential exception. Master of Many Styles changes the options for the bonus feats and Sohei adds mounted combat to the list. As they don't explicitly overlap, I think they should be ok; but my wife felt that I should check with the GM to make sure you feel the same way. Thoughts?


Yes you can take both those archetypes legally.

I'll do the same if it hasn't been resolved by Monday morning. I've been getting sporadic website maintenance notifications this week so I'm hoping they're fixing it.

Khonn, since you brought up having the avatar issue also, if you go back ot the avatar selection page and zoom out, you can see the rest of the avatars and the page selection options. Just in case you want to go and find a better one.

A good trapfinder would likely be as useful, or even more so than brute strength. But we'll figure it out one way or another.

I need some help with understanding the situation. You speak of east and west, but there is no compass rose. I assume, they entered from the bottom and are trying to get through the black box. Can I just join them, or is my path (coming from the desert) to them blocked?


Yeah they are literally at the only entrance of the pyramid, they haven't even gotten inside yet.

Curious how we are going to handle initiative, are we going in full order, or any form of block order.

The last post got me thinking, 1 person a day, might take quite a while.

Oh didn't know you had expectations. Combat will go faster than you might be imagining it. From my experience, it goes a lot faster when the GM is present all day. When the GM isn't that's when it slows down.

Hi! A highly regarded expert, here. I'll need to adjust her a bit, but I submit Flori, my first ever female character, who I played in a PFS game, briefly. Please ignore the PFS stuff. She's an orc-blooded sorcerer with a mean falchion.

Like many of us, I think this is a character with potential, who never got to really grow into her role. She's tough and dangerous, but has a soft center. I hope she'll be able to add to the story we're telling.
