Risen from the Sands with GM Deadly Secret - Table 1 (Inactive)

Game Master Deadly secret

Hello,

I am recruiting for 1-3 tables of the Risen from the Sands Module by Paizo for level 3 characters. This will be slightly modified per table. This will not be a society game. We will go over details about the module later when you’re selected. Build rules will be established after we select a group where you all can coordinate together to make a party.

Things I would like to know in this recruitment:

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?
- How much experience do you have with Roleplaying in general?
- Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?
- Have you ever played the Risen from the Sands before, even just a little? (please be truthful)
- How many PbP games are you currently active in? Do you GM any?
- Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.
- What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!

If you have any questions about the game, I might answer but I won’t give you build information. That is reserved for Session 0! But if your submission is solely based on a specific build or race, feel free to ask if it’s allowed but we shall not go into details. Please also, don’t submit character sheets or backstories.

Recruitment ends when the first 2 tables fill up. If I have overflow, a 3rd might be set up as well.

Happy Gaming

If you are in any of my other games, you are more than welcome to apply.

Hello! I would love to be included.

Answers:
1. I have been playing for 3 years now. But have GMed a game to level 20, played a full AP, and am half way through GMing another with friends.
2. I had not started till 3 years ago. Since then I have played a few other systems (Starfinder, 5e, Monster of the week, Tales from the loop)
3. I enjoy the PbP method. Both for the deeper RPing that happens, and also for the longer form strategy.
4. I have not played Risen from the Sands. I have looked at it a few times, but have not opened it to GM or play.
5. I am GMing 2 games and recruiting for another. Playing in one more (very slow game though).
6. About every day is perfect. I sometimes slow down on weekends if busy, but I am pretty good about posting at least once a day. I like to keep things flowing!
7. I like all characters. I tend to play characters with a tiny bit of impulse control. Maybe just a bit impatient, but usually just so we can get moving. Some of my favorate characters have been a bard, magus, and Arcanist. I tend to like spell casters. I have been itching to play a healer of some kind, to be honest.

Just about myself, beyond the questions. I love tabletop games, but sadly don't get to play as often as I like. GMing is great, and I don't plan on stopping, but nothing beats playing the game.

I have RSS feeds notify me of posts of my various games to my phone, so I never go very long without at least reading new posts.

I am also a big fan of organizing notes, loot sheets, etc. I am working on a simple website for my games, to help provide pictures and info, etc.

Anyway, thank you for GMing! And I hope I get picked. Good luck to everyone else too!

This is a first come first serve, so no need to worry about not getting in. I just like to know a bit about ya before seating.

This looks interesting, I'd love to play.

I've been playing pathfinder specifically for about a year and a half now. I've been playing tabletop RPGs for around a decade. D&D 3.5 was what I got stuck on for the longest.

I have not played any PbP games recently, but I played through several over on the GiantItP forums so am familiar with the general format, and enjoy how it feels more like a story.

I have not played Risen from the Sands before, I had not heard of it before this post. So no worries there :)

I am not active in any PbP games right now, just an offline game.

I can easily post daily. I work in a tech field with downtime. The one exception is I am planning to do a bit of travelling for a few days next week so it might be spotty that particular weekend. Other than that I'm golden.

I love playing casters, and even when I don't play a caster, they end up with some sort of casting. Personality-wise, I like to have it a bit more diverse, but I'd say most end up with my dry/opportunistic sense of humor. I've played everything from drunken brawlers, to snobby scholars to punk aristocrats, so other than my sense of humor they can vary quite a bit.

Either way, I'm looking forward to the chance to play!
And I echo Neo up there, thank you for GMing, we all love our GMs.

Have a seat!

- I've played Pathfinder almost exclusively for 6 years or so.

- Aside from PF, where I've played OTB, PBP, and online, some friends of mine have hosted short scenarios (a couple of sessions at most) of D&D 4e and 5e.

- I am familiar with PbP formatting. If you wish, you can browse through my only other current alias Lucas Martin for my writing style/competency - other aliases Roland deWulf and Walter Carter are also good examples.

- I have never played Risen From the Sands. I have never played any society module, even modified for non-society play.

- I am currently part of one PbP, which I check multiple times through the day during the week. Weekends are hit and miss. Depending on the speed of the rest of the players, I may not post daily, but I do check on it.

- Due to my personal background, I tend to play very focused characters - methodical, meticulous characters who like to have all of the information before getting into the action. My characters tend to be pretty serious, though some of my natural sarcasm does bleed through. Obviously, this mentality can be applied to most characters but I also favor martial characters over casters and gunslingers specifically, when available. Although mixing martial/caster classes via bloodrager or magus or even gestalt fun is all fair game.

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?

I’ve got a little bit of experience. Though probably not as much as the other two who have posted. I’ve only played a few face to face campaigns to completion, but I’ve got a pretty good grasp of the rules.

- How much experience do you have with Roleplaying in general?

I love RPGs and have gone so far as to find ways to integrate them into my real world job.

- Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?

I know how to use the stylistic formatting, but I’ll probably have to follow others lead by n what each one can be used for in game to avoid confusion.

- Have you ever played the Risen from the Sands before, even just a little? (please be truthful)

It’s been a long time but I’m pretty sure I’ve played once before. Though it was a long time ago and the GM breezed through or flat out ignored several challenges.

- How many PbP games are you currently active in? Do you GM any?

I am currently not in any PbP at the moment. I’d like to get in a few eventually, as local gameplay is little to nonexistent.

- Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.

Yes, I can check in 2-3 times a day. Usually once in the morning and the evening.

- What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!

In the few games I’ve played in I’ve played philosophical monks or inquisitive alchemists.

This recruitment is now closed.

too bad :(

This recruitment is open again. We are looking for one player. The first person who posts with the answers from post one is in.

How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?
a lot!
How much experience do you have with Roleplaying in general?
used to play SR, have been playing PF for several years. recently added Sotdl
Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?
of course
Have you ever played the Risen from the Sands before, even just a little? (please be truthful)
no
How many PbP games are you currently active in?
Six. Two are very slow, almost dying. Two are with you, and I like your style so far.

1/day minimum promised
What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!
I hate the loner, so I always try to befriend my allies. My favorite classes are oracle, paladin and investigator - hate the cleric and the warpriest. Themes are different, but I always stick to one that acts as the origin for the character idea.
Any additional information you would like to share.
will need 24h to finalize the character, once I know, what role is needed. Edit: It seems you need some support and/or skillmonkeyness
Do you want me in another one of your games? It seems my timing with you is perfect :)

Recruitment closed, go ahead and read and post in discussion thread! Thanks!

Recruitment closed. PM sent to both of you.

Darn. This one looked like fun and I'm in two of your other games and really like your style. (Reign of Winter and Ruby Phoenix) Maybe next time.

Question though. NeoEvaX mentioned that he had an RSS feed that notified when there was a post in a game. Where do I go for instructions for that? Right now I just haunt the forums that I'm in.

Near the top of the page you should see a few orange RSS symbols. To the right of the title of the game. There are a few because one belongs to Gameplay, Discussion, and Recruitment. Its right next to the facebook button and the twitter button. Just under the very top right o the page Help button.

With that I use a program called Feeder. There is an app on iOS as well as a chrome addon. It will check the RSS every few minutes. I pay for the instant notifications.

It helps me keep on top of my games, for sure.

Thanks! I saw the Facebook and Twitter icons and ignored the whole line.

Hello, this table could use a person or two as this module has proven to be dangerous. If you think you got what it takes answer the first posts questions. I can/will report this game if you want PFS credit as a sanctioned module. First come first serve!

Why not?

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?
10+ years as a player and GM.

- How much experience do you have with Roleplaying in general?
Over 30 years.

- Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?
Yep. I have played a number of games here and elswhere over the years.

- Have you ever played the Risen from the Sands before, even just a little? (please be truthful)
No. I've played a few APs here and there, but the only standalone module I've played is Carrion Hill.

- How many PbP games are you currently active in? Do you GM any?
Five or six, and one, respectively.

- Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.

Yes, no problem.

- What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!

I usually play more serious characters. I like to play studious characters, even if they are only knowledgeable about their own job. As for themes, I like to explore things like the impact of adventurer actions, redemption, faith, free will and individualism. Oh, and I favor rangers and bards, but have also played fighters, clerics, druids, and monks extensively. And I am familiar enough with most other classes to be comfortable playing them.

Hello, this table will need 1 to 2 more players. The dangers here have proven too difficult for some and we need you! Please read and fill out the first posts questions. First come first serve!

I'll be back to answer the questions in about an hour. I have to run to a meeting for work right now. Just quickly though, all but one of my pbp games just got ended as the GM couldn't devote the time anymore. The one im still in its ther one im running and it's 5th ed. Im open to play just about any type of character but monks are my favorite. I'll be back to answer more in depth shortly.

Being took a little longer than anticipated.

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?

I've been playing pathfinder since it was just the core books. I like to trawl the rules forum for interesting rules interpretations to find things I haven't thought about. Im usually a by the book person and like to spell out exactly what I'm doing in ooc tags in a post.

- How much experience do you have with Roleplaying in general?

I technically started with ad&d but didn't really get into the swing of things till 3.0. I've played a few sessions of some of the white wolf setting and shadowrun but that's about it.

- Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?

I am.

- Have you ever played the Risen from the Sands before, even just a little? (please be truthful)

I've never played or even heard of Risen from the sands and i le learning new settings.

- How many PbP games are you currently active in? Do you GM any?

Im only in one currently that I GM for 5th ed. Up until recently I was in three others that got stopped.

- Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.

Im on my phone a lot all day. I usually check on things multiple times a day.

- What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!

As I said before, my favorite class is monk. I like rooting for the underdog I guess. If I am not playing a monk, i like playing support characters or odd frontline characters. I had a strength based wildshaping druid that was the backup healer that i liked a lot. He was very judgy of the other characters and liked calling them out on their b.s. Most of my monk characters are usually focused on the goal at hand and don't like to stray to far from the mission. He's there for a reason and wants to finish the job as efficiently as possible.

Other than that, I like to play characters that require a bunch of strategy to play well.

Things I would like to know in this recruitment:

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?
Well, I'm not the best min-maxer around, but I like to read builds and strategies from time to time. I started playing around 8 years ago, tabletop, and joined the PbP community 3 years ago or so, when tabletop became hard for my group.

- How much experience do you have with Roleplaying in general?
Since I was 13, more or less (I'm 40 now).

- Are you familiar with PbP formatting and how to?
You could say I am, yes.

- Have you ever played the Risen from the Sands before, even just a little? (please be truthful)
Nope, never. I've actually never heard about it till now.

- How many PbP games are you currently active in? Do you GM any?
I retired from GMing long ago, when I discovered I suck hard at it. Right now I'm in about 8-10 games.

- Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.
Yes, most of the time. Sometimes, I have to say, I'll have a hard time around (like mostly everyone, I guess), but I can't think of anything that would take me away from the forums more than a day or two (plus there's the phone).

- What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!
I enjoy the old classy hero who wants to do good and fight evil around. As for classes or concepts, martial dudes with some added capabilities (spells or weird powers) are my most favoured, probably on top of them the Warpriest. I already play one in another of your games, though, so no, I won't be building another one here.
