You can make untrained knowledge checks up to DC 10. Only bardic knowledge or similar abilities allow higher.

I know that casting "detect evil" on an undead creature seems like a waste of time because "undead are evil"... but ... most undead aren't welcome members of a community either

The usual ghast does something like this:
Ghasts exude an overwhelming stink of death and corruption in a 10-foot radius. Those within the stench must succeed at a DC 15 Fortitude save, or be sickened for 1d6+4 minutes.

It doesn't seem that is happening. Is this enough for Ammonis to glean some information about the nature of Griswald from his brethren, given his knowledge of ghasts?

I find this settlement... confusing in several ways.

I suspect more than one group has set out to construct a rival settlement to run this one into oblivion. Or just set fire to it.

Hopefully they pay equally well for things... otherwise lets face it when we hit level seven we'll just end up avoiding this place and teleporting out of the area to trade. That'd be a shame, it's got character and a degree of charm in a twisted way.

i am assuming that the wastes are too dangerous for settlement without a substantial and powerful group of individuals.

Teleport could ruin some of its flavor..and as far as we are out in the wastes, hard to imagine something not within 700 miles.

Of course, teleportation errors in the wastes may be particularly dangerous.

The "teleport to Bard's Gate" tactic has been used by many a group looking to circumvent the inhospitable economics of The Camp.

Of course, gaining favor with the Usurer in some way might do wonders with the conversion rate and emporium prices you're currently facing...


Good luck with gaining favor with the Usurer. Our "face" is a paladin.

Not only does Ammonis have a poor charisma, he took a drawback trait that affects his diplomacy rolls (-4) with law abiding citizens..Now RAW, that drawback only applied to the land in which he had been convicted of a crime, which was wherever Ammonis come from...However, that feels like cheese...So should probably effect him even here in the camp, or perhaps half as much.

It may be boring, but I think the plan is:
1)Convince Ulave to negotiate a price for the tiny hut scroll (because going into the wastes without shelter is suicide)
2)See if we can get enough iron together to pay for it
3)Ammonis will spend time transferring the spell to his spellbook.

Is everyone ok with that? Can we come up with 375 iron (or less if with Ulave's support maybe)?

I would add that it might be worth us approaching the Usurer and politely asking if there are any other tasks that we could do for him, so as to earn some iron bits or credit before we leave. It might be worth a shot to shave off some cost.

1. It would be cheese if my drawback never hurt me because I never had to interact with people in that land, while getting the benefit of the additional trait in the wastes. I'm happy for Ammoni's evil reputation to precede him into the wastes. He'll try to stay in the back and let other do the face time, perhaps even disguising myself when necessary.

2. Holy waters, potions, etc, will fetch as much as it costs to make, per the rules for PCs :) Does it make sense? No. But it is these rules which prevent us from getting rich and breaking PF.

3. Are you gonna make us roleplay it out? Can we not say that Ulave agreed that leaving before preparation was foolish, that his lady has no wish for him to die from the elements, and that the shop was not evil, so chill out?
