Pathfinder, Earth
Hello there my recruitment friends! Me and my players are currently mid-adventure and our caster left. Now here we are seeking out someone to take his place at the beginning of the next chapter. We are looking for a caster character, which can be arcane or psychic, at your choice.

-25 Point Buy
-Any Race, but no race-builder.
-Any Arcane/Psychic Spellcaster class.
-Uses the Anti-Hero player option (instead of hero-points, gains one extra bonus feat at 1st level)
-Start at level 2, using max die roll for 1st level and half dice for second. Rest will be rolled normally in discussion.
-2 Character traits (must match background) or 3 traits and a drawback.
-Will accept monster PCs if they add up to CR2 and are particularly interesting.
-We are using the Background skill system from Pathfinder Unchained.

As this is a game played in an Earth where the myth and magic of Pathfinder is common-place, feel free to play around with that in your background, and we would appreciate it if you got yourself familiar to the campaign with the above link. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us.

Dot

Leprechaun might actually be interesting.

Might want to add no templates. Or at least no Advanced Template. That's just boring...

On another note, this is a good game. Pretty fun and a mix of investigation and combat so far.

Good info. Leprechauns are a cr2 race have some nice racial bonuses and spell-like abilities. Trying to determine class for him.

Can I ask what guns are like in this universe? (Was thinking maybe Spellslinger)

Thanks Rameil. Yeah, no advance templates. It adds no story and tends to unbalance things. It's the template of the dreaded munchkin.
Guns are common-place, but armor is more resistant to it, meaning that with moder-day armor, you will not be shooting against touch AC, except under certain circumstances.
Should also correct the above, you'll be starting at CR3 as the rest of the party will be leveled up by then. Still, the monster CR should only go up to 2.

I'd like to dot for interest here. Most likely Human Arcanist (archetype - if any - to be determined).

You say the myth and magic of Pathfinder is common-place, so would that include dieties, locations, factions, etc? Or would we be re-fluffing the Golarion entities/locations to something fitting the modern day?

Once I've got the crunch done, I'll post again with the avatar and read through the story so far whenever I have time to sit down (which could be a lot if I can get to this website at work, but that's unlikely). What's the timeline look like for now to have our submission ready?

Yep. Pathfinder deities are this world's deities. There are hellknights, eagle knights, red mantises, etc..
Could take a bit of time, the chapter we're currently in is over midway through, but after the current encounter, it should pick up quickly.

For clarity, do you mean CR 1 creatures would have 2 levels and CR 2 creatures would have only one level?

Yup, that's exactly what I mean.

Here's the crunchy submission for GrinningJest3r. If you have any questions, let me know. As I said previously, once I get caught up in the story so far, I'll write up my fluff. Hopefully that means tomorrow.

Cool, looking forward to it.

Is this still open to recruitment?

If so consider it dotted for now. Let me know and I will stat out a character. Been wanting to build an Arcanist/Rogue focused on poisons and debuffs.

I believe it is, yes.

Decided to go wizard instead of arcanist...with the multiclassing the slower spell progression was going to be a real bummer I think.

Here's what I have so far:

Will it keep my spacing? If not I will have to come in and do some rearranging...

I am Skivven, often referred to as Skivven the Unclean, or Skivven the Marked. I set off from my warren at a young age due to the overcrowding, looking to make my way to the city and fame, fortune, or at least to find my place in the world. Sadly, my place was found for me all to quickly, being sold into a sweatshop where I worked in rat's nest like conditions. They put a brand on my hand to let me know that I was owned. Sometimes it still itches at night, and I can hear the clank of the shirt machines. It wasn't until several years after that I managed to create a poison using the chemicals they gave us for dyeing shirts that I was able to incapacitate the gaurds and win freedom for myself and a few friends. We went our separate ways pretty quickly though and I found I had a knack for the people skills that let me make my way in the city.

Now I look out primarily for numero uno, but I don't mind making friends along the way. You scratch my ears, I'll scratch yours.

Incidentally, did a quick search on line...

This is what I imagine Skivven to look like

http://targete.deviantart.com/art/ratfolk-281321616

I will do feats and equipment if the character is accepted to join the campaign.

Potentially interested. How fast does the game go, and what kind of plots do you generally look at? (Am I correct in picturing a shadowrun-type scenario, where a corporate espionage spellcaster-infiltrator would make sense?)

At the moment we have had two plots, both investigatory in nature. The first was disappearances at Coney Island, and the current one is murders in Cairo(?).

Greetings!

I'm interested in trying this. dotting.

I'll have a concept to throw out there once I've had enough coffee to wake up.

I'll make the Alias if I get chosen to fill in the spot.

Isolde Wolfsley, Elven Arcanist (Occultist)

History:
Isolde grew up on the mountainous city of Seattle in Washington state, where she had studied magic in Washington State Community College.

She switched majors a few times, and as a result, learned to use raw magic energy with spells learned from a spellbook. Her minor in dimensional magic led to improving her abilities with Conjuration magic.

However, she wanted to get a real degree in arcane practices, and she applied to different universities across the U.S. She was accepted to NYU and spent the next 4 years earning her degree in arcane theory. She recently travels abroad, seeking ancient arcane secrets for her next paper.

Personality:
Isolde is a very curious personality. She loves finding out new things, and has a cheerful personality, but her lack of real world experience sometimes lets her put her foot in her mouth.

She is quite interested in helping others, but isn't rigidly set in the ways of the law; she learned her greatest strength came from being flexible and learning when to 'go with the flow' as well as when to obey the rules.

Crunch:

ELF ARCANIST (OCCULTIST) 2
(Elf Favored Class Option: +1 arcane reservoir)x2
HP: 10
AC: (laughing)
STR 8
DEX 14
CON 10
INT 19
WIS 10
CHA 16

Feats would be spell focus:Conjuration and Augment Summoning

Hmm. Really waffling between Psychic and Sorcerer right now. Hmm.

Alright, got my concept down. Should I generate a full crunch, or just basics with a story?

Well, anyway, here's what I have so far

Max Janus, Corporate Warlock:

CN Half-Elf Psychic (Psychic Duelist) 3
Str 9, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 19, Wis 8, Cha 14
AC 20, Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +4/+6 while raging [additional +2 vs mind-effecting], Init +4

Role:
-High-DC enemy-disabling spells
-Party face (excellent lying and disguise skills, can read minds very effectively)
-Psychic raaaaage
-Can (at level 4) trap enemies in a hallucinatory hellscape from which there is no escape save summoning imaginary monsters to battle each other

Background
On his father's side, Maxwell Janus IV comes from a long line of big-city psychics. On his mother's side, he's Drow nobility, born to a wealthy European socialite who married his father during a brief period of rebellion against her parents. After his mother gained custody in the divorce, Max’s elven grandparents insisted on a traditional Drow education for their grandson, and so he spent a decade living with them in the thriving Undercity of Naours, struggling to learn both a foreign culture and language.

His American affectations, and human looks—handsome though they may have been—earned the young Max quite a bit of mistrust from the dark elves of France, and it didn’t help that he grew and learned far faster than the other children. Trapped within a foreign culture inside another one, he found himself in frequent fights, and while he never had time to master the sword or bow, he did learn how to dodge them, moving with a distinctly elven grace. Eventually, his mother moved away from the family villa, returning to old haunts in Italy and Spain, and a teenaged Max once again got to spend time with human children, picking up quickly what he had missed out on.

At 18, though, he won a prestigious scholarship, left for America, and never looked back. Fed-up with the traditionalist politics, stuffy etiquette, and lack of cell phone reception among the Drow, he embraced the college lifestyle; and, finishing a prestigious Ivy League degree, accepted a job working for his estranged father in New York.

Occupation
Brocktree, Hartfeldt & Janus is a small, but prestigious, boutique consultancy firm on the Upper East Side. Specializing in corporate security, information, and counter-espionage, they offer psychic services to the financial and tech companies of Manhattan, with a personalized approach that corporate psychics often lack. With his elf blood, family talent, and genius intellect, Max Janus was on track to make senior partner within a decade of his hiring.

But things have been… troubling in the corporate world. Years of living in Naours's intrigue-ridden cellars and under-streets have given Max a bit of an edge that the other associates lack. After three years in the corporate world, he's gotten in enough fist fights and street scuffles that his father was forced to put him on an unpaid leave of absence (over the protestations of both Alaster Brocktree, who would have seen him fired, and Gavin Hartfelt, an old dwarven occultist who’s found the young Max’s misadventures a continual source of amusement).

There’s a job waiting for him if Max can ever get his temper together. But right now, he’s just a bit too unpredictable, proud, and cruelly honest for the world of corporate consulting, and so he’s been temping while on leave, taking any sort of short work that takes basic psychic talents and might be impressed by his fancy degree.

Description
Max is a tall, thin, and exceedingly handsome man, his features tinged with just a hint of dark elf exoticism. Constantly fidgeting with his hands, he wears whatever seems appropriate for a job, though he prefers a well-tailored Italian suit over a thin coat of softly-clicking chain mail. While he never had time to master the sword, his Drow education has made him quite comfortable with a standard-issue Smith & Wesson crossbow. Though not cruel, he is often quick to judgment or anger, and recent meetings with his therapist have focused on strategies to control his temper.

Alright, I'm back! And so is this board. Looking good, looking good. I'll discuss the going-ons of this board with my current players via PM.

Glad to hear!

...should I post a crunch? If the decision's taking a few days, that gives me plenty of time for it.

Liberty's Edge

Can I still make an apply here? I like to offer a Samsaran wizard/sorcerer

I got a little bored and made a character for this in case I'm not to late to apply. If I by chance have applied to late I like to ask to be considered if you loose another member.

Background and personality.:

Background
For a Samsaran Samson havn’t had a very long line of past lives yet, his current reincarnation was born in July 1940 in London. His own daughter was supposed to take care of him after his rebirth and she did for about two months, but sadly, fate had other plans for the infant. During the Blitz, he was placed in the family’s basement shelter, but while his daughter was checking, the house for the remaining members a bomb hit the house and killed her along with the rest of his family. The day after the bombing he was found by a young scavenger going through the remains of the house and heard his cries. He was later taken the country with other children where he grew up with an Irish couple realized the child’s intellect.

By the 1960s despite still a child by Samsaran standards he accepted into the Oxford school for the magical and arcane arts, where his talents from earlier lives began to develop and after his graduation he was offered a teacher position at the school. He started with teachings in the historical department and had both regular history classes, but also historical engineering. Later he was given more classes and to this day, he has taught arcane arts and alchemical studies educating both wizards and alchemists alongside normal scholars. Having adulthood about a decade ago he has decided he want to take a break from teaching and see the world, learn new stuff and hopefully bring back more to teach the next generation.

Breif history of Samsons incarnations
Samson’s first incarnation was an apprentice to the great wizard Merlin, and after Merlin’s death, he took the name and title for 400 years, perfecting a life dedicated to create fire magics. Around the 1600 he was a little known inventor named Valery Thussan, it was here the bloodline evolved to Sage and the abilty to activate magical items with resolve rather than personality became part of the Samsarans life. Valery died in London in 1940.

Personality
Samson is a bit of a loner in social graces, but he is the light of the party once he steps inside a classroom. He loves teaching and learning things, he has a genuine love for his students and takes good care of them all giving them all the same chance for passing his classes with excellence.

Post as my alias just in case I am allowed to play. :D

Looking good, looking good. I'll go over everything with Da Gang.

Liberty's Edge

I'll quickly make an alias if I gets chosen for this campaign.

Same here.

I am going to have to withdrawal.

Opening this thread again! Sorry for the wait, but as of now, the one chosen will be inserted almost immediately. Hopefully there's still interest.

Would an unfettered Eidelon be acceptable? Basically using the Eidelon rules from the summoner, but at levels the Eidelon doesn't get a hit die, gaining a class level?

Shi'vatha! It's been ages, my friend!

Hey Echane! Long time no see!

Sorry, I can't help but have her say hi when I see the most memorable party member. :)

Dark Archive

Hmm, maybe, what is the parties composition and can you tell me a bit about the world? Thinking of doing some sort of Drow Oracle that is being slowly more and more influenced into being good. Of course regular Drow society (in whatever form this would be on Earth) isn't taking a liking to that. No, she will not become Drizz't.

I imagine Drow in this setting like one of many mafias/cults.

I am Ramiel, blaster wilder with melee and some minor debuff abilities. Vigilante type, without the complicated class. ;)

Other Party Members
Ammon: Bloodrager/Oracle. Front liner, "knight of Ragathiel"
Devic Zaitsev: Alchemist(Grenadier), another blaster, which are always really fun.
Gerald Snacko: A Time Thief. He appears to be bard-like in utility and combat potential. Also a vigilante.
Skjor: The heavy metal Skald! Sings out a raging beat and swings a great axe like he's square dancing with it.

So far we're like an episode of Supernatural as we go around solving horror mystery and killing what's responsible. Except, you know, legally. Kinda.

Probably...

Dark Archive

WBL (Wealth by level)?

Dark Archive

Figured the Drow will be some form of nature sorceress with the Verdant bloodline. Youngest daughter of a mob family. Didn't get to involved in family affairs so went more on her own.

I'd also be interested in this.

Character would be a Kasatha Druid using the Skinshifter archetype. The idea behind it is that it's an alien that crashed on earth and is now trying to blend in and survive in an unknown world until he finds a way to communicate with home and get picked up.
His curiosity and kind heartedness will easily get him into trouble.

There was a half-celestial goblin walking around. I'm not sure you need to hide.

I believe it is wealth by level. We are currently level 2.

Glad to see interest. The idea of a Drow maffia princess intrigues me.

Yup, things are pretty cosmopolitan. There are so many odd things walking around by now that most wouldn't be shocked if they saw something unfamiliar, and just assume that it's just a race they haven't heard of yet.

Level 3, now :)

I can resubmit my elven arcanist?

Place holder, start putting on the information tonight.

Absolutely. Go ahead.

Cool. Looking forward to it.

In that case the idea falls flat so I'll go with something else.

Right now I'm looking at playing a Shabti. She'd be the Shabti of queen Nefertiti who feared retribution of the gods in her final days as her husband had banned the worship of the traditional Egyptian gods.

The Shabti would have laid dormant for several thousand years only to be woken due to some recent excavations near her tomb.

She'd be a Psychic using the Rebirth discipline.

Funny, since we were just in Cairo dealing with undead.
