Exiel shrugs. "I don't mind being the first in...well, if Alden has my back."

GM, I have the defensive strategist trait, so I keep my full AC in a surprise round.

Taking a deep breath, Exiel steps tentatively towards the cavern. Assuming nothing jumps out at him, he dips his hooked lance head-first into the water to test the depth of the swamp, and then casts prestidigitation to clean his lance.

Exiel, and anyone else who follows him to the edge of the chamber:
As you approach, you see that a slowly trickling hot spring provides this cavern with a steady source of geothermal heat, accounting for the increased temperature in the chamber. The lumpy piles of fungus are the decomposing corpses of large herd animals. Exiel realises that the 'swamp' isn't really that deep after all. It will only reach to your ankles, or to Sue's waist kneecaps shins. Another passage leads out from this chamber further to the West.

Exiel and anyone else who follows him and makes a DC 25 perception check:
You notice that one of the piles of fungus and other apparently rotted vegetation quivers just slightly as you approach, and two thick, ropy strands of vegetation appear to extend from the mound ever... so... slowly...

Exiel and anyone else who follows him and makes a DC 15 perception check:
A voice calls out softly from the passage leading West.
"Why hello there. Welcome. Why don't you come on in and take a look around? There's nothing to hurt you here."

I'll roll Constantin's initiative to move us along.

Constantin's initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Exiel moves towards the tunnel, and as he does so, you now all see one of the mounds of plant-matter open up to reveal what appears to be a maw of sharp branches and thorns. Two thick, ropy strands of vegetation rise from its sides, reaching for Exiel, though he seems out of the creature's reach for the moment.

Only Exiel sees (but the rest of you will also soon see) a strange creature in the Western passage. He has two goat-like horns and a goat-like lower-body...as well as a pair of huge bat-like wings.

Sue, Alden and Exiel identify the plant creature as a tendriculous, a huge carnivorous plant-creature that uses its two tentacles to feed creatures into its mouth.
Sue also knows a little something more. (Sue gets to ask 1 question.)

Exiel and 42 have no idea what manner of creature the Paul is, but guess from the wings that it probably has the blood of some fiend running in its veins. Alden on the other hand thinks it should be a satyr...were it not for the fact that satyrs usually don't have wings.

Surprise round! (Only Exiel and Constantin can act)

Sorry guys, that was my mistake. Moving things along now.

Exiel charges the strange Paul and just barely manages to cut a gash in his side. The wound is rather light, but is enough to disrupt Paul's concentration.

Paul's concentration, DC 22: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

Paul curses as he loses concentration, and he glares at Exiel with burning red eyes. S*** just got personal.

42 pulls out his wand and conjures a protective plane of force to guard himself and Alden moves up towards Constantin to back him up against Ted the ridiculous Tendriculous. Ted however is not impressed and advances towards one of the two nearest tasty morsels before him, 1d2 ⇒ 1 namely Alden, and lurches forward with surprising speed to take a bite at him with its massive maw.

Sue: I'll just take the last 1d6 rolled as the acid damage for now. But I don't really need to track it separately. The acid damage can be regenerated, it's just that when it is dealt acid damage, its regeneration shuts down for 1 round (and allows it to be killed by reaching -CON in hp).

Sue unleashes a flurry of attacks on Ted. There are no cries of pain from Ted, but from the way it recoils, you assume that it felt quite a lot of hurt. Constantin follows up with a couple of slashes at Ted, but only hits with the first strike.

Meanwhile, Paul decides that he's had enough of Exiel. Spreading his wings, he flies past the annoying paladin (taking an attack of opportunity from Exiel, but he cannot be tripped as he is flying). He stops about 20ft in the air, safely out of reach of Exiel's lance, and looks around at all of you...(except Exiel who seems immune to his abilities and 42 who is busy being eaten)1d4 ⇒ 1

His gaze falls on Alden, and he says "oh look, little halfling! Your friend has been eaten! This is surely a terrifying place, and if you're not careful, you could be next! Maybe it would be best to flee this place whilst you still can!"

Alden, you need to make a DC 19 will save or do your best to withdraw on your next turn.

Exiel, 42 and Alden are up. 42, on your turn you take 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 damage as the acids in Ted's stomach eat away at your flesh! You also start to feel slightly numb, and you think that you will need to make another fort save next round.

Need an attack of opportunity and an action from Exiel.
Need a save and an action from Alden.

Exiel takes a swipe at "Paul" as he flies past.

attack roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

He then looks up at the now-airborne"Paul" and smiles.

"You're not getting away that easily."

He moves forward and calls forth Lucien as he begins to recite an incantation.

Casting Adhesive Spittle, and using Share Spells to transfer the spell to Lucien. Lucien then uses his standard action to launch the spittle at "Paul".

"Get down here!"

If he fails the DC20 reflex save, he should fall through a square threatened by Exiel and provoke another AoO, which I still have since the previous AoO was taken in round 2 and I am now acting in round 3. And btw, I think you need to update the round-number. =)

If he fails:
attack roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Paul winces as Exiel's lance cuts into him yet again as he flies past. As he concentrates on Alden, Exiel's pet fires a glob of sticky white fluid at him...who would have thought a little bird would have so much sticky spittle in it?

Paul's reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Unfortunately for Paul, he is so fixated on Alden that he does not see the spittle until it is too late, and is fully caught up in it. he falls and takes a hit from Exiel on his way down to the ground.

Falling damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8

However, the damage is done as Alden carefully makes his way out of the chamber, fleeing whilst he still can!

Meanwhile, 42 attempts to paralyse Ted from within its belly,

Small backtrack. I just noticed that Exiel was threatened by Ted when he cast his spell, so Ted gets an attack of opp against him.

As Exiel concentrates to cast his spell, Ted sees an opening and tries to scoop him up it its huge maw like it did 42.
bite: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26

Fortunately for Exiel, Ted does not get a second helping. This time.

This happened before Ted took his action, so he still has an attack of opportunity available until his next action.

Also, Exiel needed to roll for the duration of his spell. I'll roll it now to keep things going.

adhesive spittle duration: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3

42's action for round 4 noted. Still need Sue and Constantin's actions for round 3.

Sue and Constantin pummel and slice Ted into mulch. 42 feels the plant-monster shudder, then fall parallel to the ground. You can crawl out on your turn.

Alden, you are close enough to see Ted collapse, and because the suggestion from Paul was to flee from the plant-monster, you are now free to act on your next turn.

Paul sees this and starts to panic. He gets to his feet and moves towards the tunnel, but stops just short of giving Exiel another free stab at his back. (Also he's entangled and that's as far as he can go.
